I have my main Google WiFi router in the living room and the Netgear Extender in the hallway to reach the WiFi signal to my bedroom which was a deadzone but not no more. So happy I bought this.

When power was restored contacted Netgear and was given the run around .Would not honor Warranty and had a tech call and I was told had to buy a program where it would censor on my network. I couldn't afford this. This was my second Netgear extender I had the same problem last year and bought into the program they sold. Turns out was suppose to be a life time but I needed to purchase a different program, the Netgear customer service was terrible.

The first time I tried, the app would not work and I had to do the manual install with my laptop. A month later, after a power outage, I had to reinstall and tried the app again and it worked great! Glad, because if ever needed, now I have a very quick and easy way to get back up and running. Definitely has helped our dead zones in house.

After getting through the first person I was transferred to a second where I waited in a holding pattern until I gave up and went to bed. Still do not know if the two extenders are operating properly.

Recently the extender simply stopped receiving the signal from the router even though it was less than a foot from the router as i was trying to troubleshoot. In order to get help from Netgear you have to pay for a service contract which was just about as much as a new extender. spend a bit more and get a better router from a better company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fault device that is less then reliable Like all the other bad reviews here, faulty product that drops wifi very often, my home is only 1500 sq ft, it is not large, and the extender just has to extend the signal in the stairwell. It is unable to do that efficiently. I purchased this on July 2nd, received it on July 11th, called on Sept 7th for a return but unfortunately they follow PURCHASE date only. I will not recommend NETGEAR store nor this product to anyone.

No that everyone at my house is working from home with this wifi range extender we have the whole house covered. Like that it gives you to choice to setup up the two bands in multiple ways. Only issue was that I was unable to connect to the default wifi for initial setup. I just used an ethernet cable instead.

And, after researching online, find this is not an uncommon issue. Neither Spectrum nor Netgear tech support could make it work. Connected to the computer and the router- but would not connect to the internet. Period. So had to return it. I'm sure if you're not running Spectrum equipment, it's a fine piece of equipment... however since it wouldn't allow the intended computer to connect to the internet, it wouldn't even make a good boat anchor. Not heavy enough.

To extend the range, the extender must be moved closer to the area more signal is desired. For this task it does a good job.

Got it to connect, you could find the signals but nothing ever worked. I tried several times and had multiple friends try it too and still nothing. No support number to call. Very frustrating!!

When a range extender was recommended, I was doubtful that something so simple could do the trick. I was wrong! The 3 laptops in our office yards away from the office with the router, now stay connected consistently and indicate full bars of service! What a blessing!!!! Productivity is up and complaining is down.

After installing the extender, we have full signal again and less traffic using the bandwidth since we were able to partition the use for certain devices to be on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unhappy The reason I’m unhappy is that it doesn’t work most of the time. I took the first one back after spending over an hour with the tech support. They agreed something was wrong to go back to Best Buy and exchange it for another one. I did and it still won’t extend the WiFi most of the time I can’t get on line so I change the WiFi setting back to the main one and it works. All the green lights are on saying it is online but when my phone or iPad won’t get online there is something wrong. Very discouraged!

Took care of the weak signal zone in my home, exactly what I needed. The included WIFI Analytics app also very helpful. Overall I highly recommend this product, especially if you have an unusual install situation like an old Apple router.

Had a Roku TV hooked up to the extender and was receiving 5 bars on the TV, however, the extender would knock off the internet to the TV after 10 minutes or so. Would have to reset extender to get TV reception going again. Did this for a few times so I just went back to receiving WIFI directly from router with 2 bars reception to ROKU TV from router.

I have both green lights on extender itself so it’s in correct position, but occasionally my devices will hook to network and then be booted randomly while the network disappears. This is on all devices as well, and after a little time goes by network will reconnect and work

This will allow it to be mounted up high on the wall (to maximize the coverage area, on the shelf,... Also,it could be ran off of an external DC source if needed, (maybe optional battery backup?). How do you tighten the antennas where they mounted to the enclosure? I configured mine as an access point. The set up for access point is not as clear as in the extender mode.

I drop at least 5 calls a day because I lose connection. At that point not only do I lose the call I am on. I have to log in again, I have to restart all my programs, and call the customer back to apologize.

My son’s bedroom where he does his homework previously had a “weak” internet signal according to his laptop, now its “medium”, and he no longer gets dropped. The rest of the house has benefited as well, and internet pages load much more quickly. You have to follow the instructions to set up this device properly. We set ours up with both 2G and 5G so we have two networks to choose from. I highly recommend this device.

I switched to a Netgear Orbi mesh network and it was super simple to set up, now all of my devices are on one mesh network and I don’t have to select the best network depending on the room I’m in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! We live in a cellular dead zone and the only internet option is satellite. So we installed these AC1200 range extenders in every room of the house. We can now stream movies while the kids play live Xbox. And more importantly, we can actually have a phone conversation using wi-fi calling! I highly recommend Netfear products! They have taken away so much frustration we previously had due to lagging internet and the lag when streaming movies, and we were previously not able to make a phone call AT ALL from our home! Great products! Look into their routers as well!

I like this both for its range and for the ability to have my router and the two extenders under the same WiFi network name. For the first time I have a good signal throughout the house.

Obviously is a bit slower than the router (200Mbps, but getting 150 Mbps when I had nothing is amazing! The instructions need to state to reset the unit before wasting ur time trying to sync it. I spent near 60 mins until I tried pushing the reset button with a pin. Highly recommend!

The wireless router is in the other house with many obstacles and is at least 300 feet away. I placed the extender in the best location I can and have great WiFi service now. My speeds feel like I have my own router! I was able to work from home with success so all in all, amazing product that works like advertised. Nuff said. :)

We have not been able to use our Wi-fi in the south part of our 1650 sq ft house because the cable from the dish device (with the modem on the dish comes in on the north side. No need to worry about cables or what ports you have available, this device just plugs in and away you go! We are pleased!

For my work from home setup I had to be connected to the router trough an Ethernet cable, but the router it’s upstairs and I did not want to deal with buying a longer cable and taking it all the way downstairs. I had the telecom provider out multiple times to try se if we could improve the coverage with location of the router with no luck, and they wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars to do it. I decided to try this extender before being forced to go that route. I am extremely happy that I did! I have been using for 3 weeks now and have not dropped a meeting once! Testing my speeds also doubled from 100 - 200mbps. I am probably going to buy another one to make the signal stronger out near the garage on the other side of my house as well. Def would recommend if you are facing similar issues.

My router, which is in the basement, always caused problems for my upstairs smart tv where my apps never connected to WiFi, and I always had to keep my office in the basement to get a signal. Not any more! Thanks to the NETGEAR I can watch my smart tv and have my office upstairs no longer in the basement. It connects smoothly giving a stable and consistent signal.

It was working slowly and would freeze constantly so I figured to get this extender to be able to push the signal outdoors better. The signal on the camera is actually weaker now. Was between 59% and 64% pre-extender. After putting the extender as close to the camera as possible it now has a 40% signal strength.

The down side is that we cannot take advantage of the full speed. Almost everywhere in the house we get 250-300mbps but in the bedroom it’s between 40-60mbps. I think that is the nature of the extender and that why it’s 4 stars and not 5. If there was a way to get it closer to the rest of the houses speed it would be perfect.

It would have been nice if it was a bit higher transfer rate but for my application it didn’t matter. For reference, I’m getting about 100mb symmetrical transfer speeds with this unit.

The only time I had decent signal was when everyone was asleep and I was the only one using WiFi. Specially when it comes to gaming, it was horrible, I did some research and honestly I got recommended the AC750 but then again why not get the level higher then that. Now I can say that I can enjoy from gaming to school work and to job related without worrying about WiFi being laggy or disconnecting.

Phones keep loosing the WIFI signal and it was costing me a small fortune. Read a few reviews like the one I picked and installed it my self through the app it said to use. My thought was oh no here I go again I was expecting the worse, to my surprise I had the task completed in a very short time NO YELLING NO CURSING (lol and we tested it out on the bad side of the house and no all phones, tablets gaming consoles have what they need to run with full bars and well I don’t have to pay out of pocket fir additional data fees. I’m guessing this unit will pay for itself in about 3 months that’s an ROI I can live with

Next morning, AC1200 missing. Went to connect, acted as a new device all information reset to factory. Waiting for final verdict. On the plus side, when it works it does a fine job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I picked the Nighthawk Extender So far I have been very impressed by the AC1200 extender. It was super easy to setup. I believe it took about 10 minutes. I purchased the Nighthawk because I already had a Netgear router. However after purchasing a new house the range of that router did not cut it. I was getting about a 1-2 megs of intermittent sevice on the other end of my house. After the installation of the extender I immediately saw jump in bandwidth of up to 190 mb/s. Needless to say I am happy with this purchase.

The set-up was very simple, just download the app and follow the instructions. This has eliminated the issue and we are very pleased with it. I would recommend this product.

This WiFi extender fixed the problem! It was very easy to set up and use with the App and probably only took 20-30 minutes to get everything set up nicely. I’m very happy.

The setup was quite easy using the app on an android phone. The signal boost allows me to access wi-fi when I am behind the buildings. A good product.

I’m on the opposite side of the house as our net gear router, so we bought the extender and I put it in my room. I think it served its purpose, my internet was faster, but it wasn’t a significant change in my opinion. I would however, recommend this product if you don’t want to have to upgrade your service, or but more expensive gear than this.

Friends have told me why don’t you get an extender and problems solve, so I finally did. However, I wanted to buy a reliable and good extender that it wasn’t breaking my bank but also that I wouldn’t regret buying. I went to a website were they had the top 5 extenders to buy and this one was number one in the list. I have to tell you that they were right. The set up was extremely easy and you don’t and unlike other extenders in which you have to connect to a different name, Netgear you don’t have to since it is supported using the same name. In the back house were the router is located I get about 450 MBPS and 60 download MBPS and the front I get close to a 100 MBPS and 35 MBPS download. Before I could not even connect to my computer in the front house. I totally recommend this product if you are looking for an extender especially since it doesn’t have to be near your router to work.

I place The extender in between where my router is and where I need better reception as directed. For some reason this thing works for a day and then cannot connect to the local network afterwards. I reset it twice and it did the exact same thing. It might be user error, but be warned that this product is not the best.

I would recommend it for simple devices like phones, computers, etc… but not for gaming unless you play for less than an hour. It’s a bit pricy, but overall it’s good for simple stuff

I’m planning to teach live on line from the studio to my students Plugged it on my kitchen wall that was close to the studio entrance. I’m happy to say that it really brings a strong signal into my studio. When I don’t need to have a signal I just turn it off. Very convenient smart and simple gadget.

This WIFI extender basically eliminated all the dead zones in my home. I truly recommend this product. It may not be the cheapest, but it is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works Great! Personally, I think this is a really good product, as it provides Ethernet to my gaming pc and has little to no lag or connection issues. All you have to do is plug it into an outlet and connect your device with an Ethernet cable. I had a little trouble setting it up with the on-screen instructions, but I got the hand of it pretty easily. All in all, it was a great product that was easy to set up and did it’s job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved our wifi problems I have an odd shaped house and outbuildings, and my router cast a weak or non-existent signal to many areas. Over time I have installed 2 AC1200s in access point mode and 2 in extender mode and have enough wifi to reach all areas and manage over 30 devices - Rokus, phones, Ring security system, computers, etc. Installation is sometimes a problem, but Netgear offers patient service for 90 days and has helped me get up and running whenever there have been problems.

Following the set-up instructions, I set it up next to my TV and my laptop and lo and behold they work a whole lot better than before. This made me very happy. When I went to check the reception upstairs, it was not much better than before. I did get a little better but not nearly enough to enjoy using my gadgets upstairs which I often do. I talked to someone who has the same extender and he said that he had the same results, until he bought a second extender and placed it upstairs. My home is 1500 sq.ft. on two floors, I expected the results to have been beter. Well, at least the devices downstairs are faster.

Best Buy recommended this specific model and compared to Verizon’s offer it was $100 less and works great. Am I getting a couple dropped calls but I still have full bars so I need to do more testing on why that’s occurring. Overall it went from a complete dead zone to full wifi so I’m impressed

I have an Echo dot in the shop and the WIFI connection to my Netgear router was iffy. The extender increased the signal level from barely OKAY (-75 to Very Good (-45). I put the extender in the garage window which is the full length of the house away from the router. It is about 10 feet from a side window in the shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from only extender brand that’s reliable. i trust netgear products because they deliver exactly what i need. high speeds, little to no outages, and a quality product that is just as easy to set up as it is to use and netgear definitely hit all three categories. they typically tend to always deliver a quality product at a reasonable price tag. this extender does exactly what i need it to without sacrificing my bank account, interior design aesthetics, or sanity. however i would prefer and honestly suggest to purchase the latest one if you are thinking of picking one of these up. 8/10

It happened so frequently that I ended up smashing it on a tree. Than just recently gave in a got another one just like it and so far it’s doing everything it’s supposed to do. Still drops the signal every now and then but definitely runs fast than it used to. All in all it’s better than what I had. That being said I’m pretty satisfied with this product.

My first is used with my Nest Hello video doorbell by the front door. The new one is located in my garage for my Nest IQ outdoor video camera. Had a very weak signal from my router about 100' away. Installed the extender near a window in the closest room (20 ') and boosted the signal into the fair-to-good range. Nestcam connected right away and has worked reliably for the last 3 weeks. The Nestcam did lose its connection to the extender after a short power outage last week and it did not reconnect automatically, but I was able to restore the connection by remotely power cycling the router. After about 5 minutes the Nestcam was back. Highly recommend!

I only needed to have a good connection to the second floor and to our kitchen. With this extender all those issues went away. Did get a wifi analyzer program and my upstairs signal went from -87 to -53dbm with this device. Yes device works well for me. I thought it was a tad expensive but since I no longer get complaints from my family on losing their wifi connection, it was well worth the expense.

A couple of years ago, Comcast sent out their own router, and I could no longer use my laptop in parts of the house, even rooms not that far from the router. I was on the verge of upgrading my Comcast to a higher level just to get better wifi when I saw the Netgear range extender in the store. It was very easy to set up, I can use my laptop everywhere in and outside of the house, and the price was very good. I wish I had gotten it a long time ago. Now I will be able to sit on the porch again this summer and work on my laptop.

The last extender I bought was having all sorts of issues less than a year in to owning it and they would NOT help or support fixing it. The next one I bought started having issues too - but luckily I was able to register this one (the last one would not get registered for some reason) and that seemed to fix it. So - I do love Netgear in general but would love it they could make it easier for their products to be updated.

The thing that saves this product for me is how fast my download speed is when I’m downloading games onto my Xbox. Significantly faster than wireless speeds. Overall, I’m happy with it.

We pay top tire for high-speed internet for the security cameras in our home and when the NETGEAR extender was plugged in to give us more range for one of the cameras we lost connectivity for, our televisions, phones, electron devices our all around WIFI signal and three of our four cameras stopped working and or would come back online at strange hours of the night to go offline again throughout the day. our electronic devices atomically switched to roaming mobile hot spot usage and if I did not have unlimited data, I am sure I would have used the 2.0 allowed in a matter of min. After moving the extender all through the house, thinking human error, or metal strip perhaps blocking signal or rain, or glass or perhaps not working in this or that spot (dead zone), it still would lose its signal no matter where it was moved in our home. Upon unplugging the NETGEAR three of the security cameras came back online as well as our cable and electronic devices. We have to now pay for someone to come out once again and fix our security camera that we cannot fix physically. this was one weeks of technical issues. Cable company coming out and a technician(s) coming to our home several times and end up spending 150.00 because we thought it was out tower and routers causing the issue, cable lines swapped out only to find it was the extending from the very start. I am sure this does not happen too most, but it did for us.

We did with Spectrum’s latest, which was really fast but lacked range, leaving dead spots in our home. We replaced it with the latest NetGear WiFi router and we’re amazed with how well it worked. It took less then 15 min to setup two Netgear boxes. The app is user friendly walks you through the setup process quickly and BOOM DONE, enjoying my skytrak in the garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would work for a day and then that’s it I must have gotten a faulty device because I spent three separate occasions talking with customer service/IT to get this device to work and it would work for about a day before it would say “no internet connection” and I couldn’t do anything while connected to it. I eventually stopped contacting the IT company for assistance because I didn’t have the time to spend 30 minutes on the phone with them to “resolve” the issue. I even went as far as factory resetting my router to see if that was the problem, and I had the same result: the extender network would work for the day and by the next morning it was down. Eventually I decided I had had enough, so I returned it and purchased a new extender from a different brand and haven’t had a single issue since then.
