Rated 5 out of 5 by from few features, lots of problems and noise I bought min in 2016 and it's finally quit after very minimum usage. I used it only when necessary. There was a reason for that: it was unreliable. The 425va is probably fine for a laptop or two, but definitely not a non-gaming desktop and a thin client, two monitors, and a cell phone charger. It screeched low-battery status all the time, sometimes for seemingly no reason when most of the things were turned off. Thanks to the battery, it was non-returnable. I love APC, bu this was, quite simply, an inconvenient piece of junk that couldn't even be used as a mult-outlet surge protector. After this, i'm definitely not buying anything office-retail grade from APC again._ Further, it made *a lot* of noise -- a constant high-pitch whine when the battery is charging (plus the smell of ozone and plastic but that sometimes seemed like my imagination). The screws are very far inset, about 6.5 inches, so unless you have some specialized philips-head screwdrivers you will not be able to do anything with it.

Spent 1 1/2hr on web site trying to locate setup instruction and found nothing. Tried to register, very confessing site had no luck. UPS came with an USB cable but no explanation as to what it does or haw to use it

The interior design is a mess. looks like a monkey designed it. Yes, I know I could return it be don't want the hassle. I've been buying APC products for 15 years and this is so disappointing. I threw it in the trash!

They both started popping and beeping constantly. They aren't even of any use purely as a surge protector. In fact with the generator running power in the house, you couldn't have it plugged into the wall with nothing else plugged into it. Returning both.

The power was rarely (if ever) out over the past two years but last week the unit began beeping constantly - flashing between red and green. When I looked up what was wrong, APC says the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. Better yet, the end user can't replace the battery. Terrible longevity. Unit barely lasted two years. Stay away and buy something else!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from APC has now chosed profit over reliability. Wow, I haven't read the reviews for a UPS in awhile. My mistake! I have given APC the benefit of the doubt for about a decade, but the last two units I've purchased and installed at different locations in the previous year have the "midnight scream" problem after less than 6 months of use. The alarm will go off randomly about every couple of weeks and you have to shut the unit down and power it back on to get it to stop. Even with a small load on it. Tech support says it's fine and makes me do the troubleshooting steps which never show an issue. They tell me everything is working correctly and no need for a RMA and suggest maybe I'm doing "something" wrong or the batteries aren't charged. Then they will send me a link to a PDF manual which is extremely patronizing. This makes the warranty essentially useless. No log or ability to replace the battery either. Don't put yourself in this position if possible.

We specify UPS’s at work and use this same brand for industrial cabinets, the biggest reason why I chose this particular unit for my home office. I like the unit, it has plenty of outlets but doesn’t take up a lot of room. And I appreciate the power button.

I have to turn it off, and thus my server gets shut down. It works for another month or so before the beeping starts again, Super Annoying!

APC said there was no way to bypass the battery alarm and use it strictly as a surge protector. Demands proper recycling. Buy a model that supports replacement batteries.

When the arrived, they were not what our company needed/desired. I called to process a return and was "shamed" for using YOUR website's recommendation and not calling to get a recommendation. I started a return process and was told we would be charged a 15% restocking fee. I was also told I would be contacted to start the return process after a certain department approved our return. That has never happened. The product is still in the box it came in sitting in our supply office. The owner has stated we will not order from the company again and just search elsewhere for our battery/backup needs.

Since I had had such a good experience with this first unit, I chose APC for my replacement. Because my previous unit had replaceable batteries, I didn't even think to check whether the new unit also used replaceable batteries. My only disappointment with the new unit was that it does not have replaceable batteries, meaning that in 3-5 years, I will be needing to replace the whole unit. I appreciate that the company has a recycling program (I got a 5.99? credit towards the purchase of my new unit, plus free shipping, on the return of the old unit) but it cost me $21.66 to have it packed and shipped from the UPS Store. For that reason, I give 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty sweet UPS I needed this to backup one server (desktop) that can not ever shutdown and so far so good. Its not the biggest so I would advise only 1 computer on backup and the rest on surge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failed completely after only a year. I purchased this unit specifically to keep the internet modem & router powered on during brief power outages (common in my area). Not only does this unit not provide any backup whatsoever now, it also randomly starts "beeping" at times and the only way to stop it is to unplug it completely from the wall (which kills everything since the backup no longer works). I have several Back-UPS Pro 1350s which work flawlessly. This product, however, is pure junk.
