When your adapter fails you have the option of calling the warranty department for two years and get a replacement for no charge which is great. Some adaptors work for a few months most only last for a week and even a few days when it shorts the sound and also the charge which is very annoying.

To the company’s credit they replaced it each time-the rubber closest to the charging piece starts coming apart and the wiring underneath starts to fray. I tried putting duct tape as soon as it happened this last time but to no avail. The company did reimburse me my original purchase price.

Have you ever wanted listen to your music and charge your phone at the same time? Well, the Rockstar adapter will definitely help you do both at the same time. I highly recommend the Rockstar adapter to anyone who wants to listen to their media on their iPhone and charge their iPhone the same time. If I could I’d score the Rockstar adapter 10 stars .

The cord has frayed and anytime my phone shifts my music stops. I’m very unsatisfied. I don’t have the money to buy a new one like someone suggested..I thought this would last more than a couple uses honestly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't last Worked well at first, then stopped. I bought this less than two months ago and it is already broken. I can still occasionally get it to work so I can charge my phone and listen to music at the same time, but I have to stay perfectly still because if my headphone cord moves even a centimeter this adapter will reject them and only allow music to play from my phone speakers. For $40 and buying through Apple, I expected something that would actually work for more than 5 weeks. Waste of money was infuriating and disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stops working— insufficient strain relief I buy this thing one after another because after using it for a while it stops working- I presume it’s insufficient strain relief and connector breaks inside insulation. I’ve had to buy this multiple times because they don’t last. Unnecessarily bulky and awkward. AND they are too expensive for what it does. Blame Apple too for not being able to charge and listen at same time by eliminating audio connector on iPhone — silly and terrible decision for customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not function I got this today to use in a 2010 Chevy Equinox because the USB connector in the car will play music from my IPhone 7 but not charge it. It starts to charge then the phone says it does not support this device. When I connected it to the lightning end of the USB outlet no music will play through it. Not sure if this is a problem at Chevy’s design but with no music it is useless.

Each time I have used the audio charger it has worked just fine. I have to say I like the concept of charging your phone while listening to your music. Word of caution, this product is not a splitter, it charges your phone while listening to music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dissapointed. Male connector is not standard size The plastic housing on the male end of the lighting connector does not pass through the opening of my phone case. Its too thick. Every other company that makes lighting connectors make them all at the standard size but Belkin for some reason did not consider that detail, so don't be surprised if it won't fit through your cell phone case as well. My case is the Element case Black ops. That said, it works if you do not have a phone case.

For two months I though it was great as it allowed me to charge my iPhone 7 and use my audio player in my car. After that it frequently caused the audio on the iPhone to revert to the phone speaker which obviously does not work and defeats the purpose of this Belkin device. I thought that maybe the phone was the issue. Numerous reset attempts and on line searches turned up nothing. I then switched the charge cable with the audio cable on the Belkin adapter. This fixed things for a while which indicated that the adapter and not the phone was the issue. Now the same problem has returned. My best guess is that something in the Belkin adapter just wears out quickly, maybe just a simple connection. In any event, this has been a big wast of time and money. Too ad as many people have cars that need a 3.5m audio connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok, but clunky design. I have been using this for about 6 months, I was working great! Until it started fraying just like all other Apple charging cables. Partially because of the cord design, and the clunky design of the product. I have moved my dash phone holder multiple times to make the cord hang straight, but it still frayed and either the power, or the audio connection works, but not both at that same time. Please consider using different materials in this design, because carrying the apple standard will guarantee fraying.

It pulses like the charging cable is being unplugged and then replugged. I’ve tried the charging cord with the adapter and without the adapter, and it’s charges consistently without the adapter. Maybe something got knocked? But the audio part is fantastic. Hope that I can get the charging part sorted out.

I'm very very good at taking care of my cords and making them last. However, this thing is shorting out after three months and I'm SO MAD. If I even slightly bump the cord it pauses my music. Again, not worth the money I spent on this.

I've tried both ports with an Apple Certified Cable and an after market cable with no luck. The charger or cable or both have be fussed with and put into odd positions to make the charging side work.

I've never been a fan of Bluetooth headphones, I just don't think the sound quality, especially from Apple devices it is never as good as wired headphones. Now that the the iPhone 7 has "lost" the headphone jack there in no way to charge and listen to wired headphones at the same time. This dongle solves this problem (for Lightning connector headphones). Granted it's not a issue except on long trips, when I'm killing the battery quickly (watching videos). So this product fits a special need that you may or may not have. But should you have the need here is a solution. I personally would like both a lightning connector and a 3.5mm headphone connector on this device, but.

The only downside is this dongle is a bit bulky and the lightning end has a wide base so it's hard to plug into your iphone if you have a case on it. If it was slimmed down a bit I would give it a 5 for sure.

However, I was looking for an adapter that would allow me to share two lighting EarPods on my iPad. The Apple Store clerk recommended this, and frankly there was nothing on the packaging that indicated your product wouldn't work. But, of course, it doesn't. We leave tomorrow & it's now too late to find an alternative. Unfortunately, we'll be retuning this when we get back. Again, I'm sure the product works fine -- it's just too bad the packaging wasn't more descriptive. (BTW, I'm giving this product 5 stars because I don't think it's fair to ding it for the reasons explained.)

It does play with only on aux and not this product which is how I know it's the rockstar that doesn't work; still charges though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it’s designed to do Whilst at home listening to music from my iPhone 7+ I use the Apple Ear Pods which requires you use the Apple adapter which obviously create the problem of not being able to concurrently charge the phone. The Rockstar fixes this issue very well. My only wish is that it had the Apple adapter built in because it is still necessary while using the Rockstar. Still gave it a five star rating as it performs perfectly for what it was designed to do.

Seemed to work ok at first, but now I notice that the barging rate is significantly slower than when I bypass and charge directly with my lightning cable. I'd estimate it charges at least 40% slower than expected. Not happy.

I purchased 2-3 others from amazon at first but each of them dulled the sound from my phone and also had a loud buzzing noise. This was the first adapter that actually worked and has consistently worked! It’s a lot easier to charge and play music now as I only have one thing I have to plug in every time. Really good adapter!

I bought it to be able to use a very basic Lightning microphone alongside a headset, but even this is not supported. I am actually very surprised that a 40 dollar(!) adapter does not support something so basic. Bad job, Belkin.

Second one just stopped working this afternoon. I only use at work, it sits stationary on the desk so i'm positive it's nothing i'm doing. For $40 a pop I'm not happy. Will not be purchasing another and will have to look for an alternative.

When I restate the ipad with it hooked up - it will not charge nor will it recognize sound. I've made every software update and tried every combination of plugging this in to no avail. Usually have good experiences with Belkin but this item does not work.

I want to use this in my car and have all the connections hidden away , but the short nature of this adaptor forces a bulky mess of wires to always be inches away from your phone.

The plug into the iPhone isn't any larger than a normal charging cord so it shouldn't be a problem with most phone cases. My only real complaint about it would be the fact that is it slightly bulky. The cord is short and stiff so it doesn't bend super well out of the way and the end where you plug the charger and headphones into is large-ish, but overall it is a good product that works well.

Quality of the dongle is what you'd expect–it doesn't feel cheaply made. It's a good product but ultimately I would spend the extra money and buy wireless headphones rather than have a dongle that contributes to more cable clutter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixes the one problem with iPhone 7 and 7 Plus I was given this product in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. The Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar fixes what may be the only problem with the iPhone 7 series phones, along with future iPhones - the lack of ability to listen to headphones while charging the phone. The device is very simple to use - you plug it into your iPhone, you plug your charge cable into one side and your headphones or headphone dongle into the other. The iPhone figures out everything else for you, and off you go. Should Apple decide to drop the headphone port on future iPads, this device also has you covered. I was able to charge my 2017 iPad with the 2.4 amp Apple charger while plugged into this dongle at its full charging rate. There are other, cheaper (read - not "MFI-compliant") options out there, but you run into compatibility problems with software updates and quality control issues. For me, the Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar is the only option for charging and listening to wired headphones, as it's MFI compliance guarantees that a future iOS update won't disable it. All in all, this is a good overall product for what it does.

The RockStar Charger has helped me charge my phone when I needed it the most. It is light weight, easy to use, and after charging my phone I still had power left over. Great for emergencies.

Belkin products have worked for me well in the past. So far working well and reliable. If i can suggest, i would love belkin to eliminate the short cable and just have the lightning connection attach to the edge, it will be sorta like a flash memory, it will be sleek and user friendly to carry every where. So far works well with the latest update ios 11.1 I totally 100% recommend it

It still charges and has audio at the same time, but when I am doing both at the same time (audio and charging) I'm hearing a consistent static/chattering through my headphones. I've tried car charger, wall charger, and multiple different Apple earbuds. When I wiggle the Belkin splitter wire back and forth, the noise will stop until I let go.

The audio no longer plays through the adapter, but rather through the speakers. And I know that the headphones are not the problem because they work fine when used alone. I really heard good things about Belkin, and I am hoping they can help. So if anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know.

This is extremely irritating because I only use this while I’m driving. It causes me to constantly fidget with it until the audio comes on. I always end up disconnecting it and plugging my audio cable in directly to my phone instead.

Now you can have your headphones and external battery/power plugged-in at the same time. The dongle gets a bit long if you are also using a 3.5 adapter dongle on your headphones. Would be nice if this were designed as a “T” and you could connect power/headphones along the bottom of your phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly I wish apple didn't get rid of the audio connector since it cost me $40 with this Belkin device. However it is well made and works exactly as described. I use it with the google maps GPS. My car does not have bluetooth so I use the car stereo's aux feature while charging the phone as the gps drains the battery pretty quickly. This set up worked perfectly with previous iPhones, and with this Belkin device it now works perfectly with the iPhone 7. It always amazes me that people write negative reviews because the device doesn't work for functions for which it was not designed or intended. This is a great device.

It does add some bulk to the phone since it's an extra connector. But that can be dealt with, since the phone charges quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great until... I bought this adapter around April at Target so I could keep my phone charged while listening to music and podcasts in my bluetoothless car. The adapter worked great until about a month ago when it started shorting out. I thought it was just something with my 7 so I rebooted, and it seemed ok until yesterday. Today I rebooted again, nothing, I have tried jiggling the cords to see if one of the cords was bad, nothing. To make sure it was the adapter and not anything else, I finally unplugged the AUX cord and plugged it directly into my phone, and found that there were no problems if I bypassed the adapter. Thought about spending another $40, but it really does not seem like a good ROI so now will just listen until I have to charge.

This product is amazing. The reason for the 4 star is the price. The total price came to $80 including shipping and handling fee and taxes. There are a lot of add on prices. The iphone end of the cable is small enough to get into a case without having to remove it. I had zero issues with compatibility like you get with some third party products. Also, if only the Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter is supported, why not build it into this cable? Why doesn't Belkin make a cable with one 3.5mm headphone jack and one Lightning jack? It would cut down on the additional bulkiness of having to use both adapters at once!

Of course if you don't have headphones with a lightning jack then another adapter is required. So the addition of a standard headphone jack would make this a must have accessory.

Now, it's spotty when the device will decide to work. Sometimes, I can charge and listen - as long as everything stays perfectly motionless. One lightning connector allows audio only, the other will disconnect charging randomly. The product started acting wonky less than 6 months of use.

I have had no issues with this yet and has been such a relief for me to use. The size is not too big and you can use this on any desktop or laptop. No slowing down as far as charging speed and quality of music through the headphones is not lost either! This piece really is great. On thing I would perhaps think about it is, being this is mainly for the phone or only for the phone, I would think about shortening the cable part, or perhaps offer one that does not have a cable at all and simply plugs in to the bottom of the phone, if possible. Besides that this little device is great and perfect for its use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This adapter is a lifesaver! The Belkin Lightning Audio and Charge Rockstar adapter is a life saver for Apple IPhone 7 and newer users. I struggled during any car rides with wanting to both charge my phone and listen to music. On more than a few occasions long road trips with friends were put into silence as we each needed to charge our phones back up before returning to the AUX chord. However, now that I have the Belkin adapter I no longer have to pay attention to my battery life as I play my favorite tunes. Perhaps the most convenient aspect of this device is if I plug my phone in to just charge but not listen to music, and then later in the drive I want to play music, I am already plugged in and simply just have to change the function on the radio. Being able to plug one adapter in one port for two functions is ideal. Size of the adapter is perfect and the white color and shiny finish adds for a stylish high tech look.

Other reviews saying it does not work with 3rd party Headphones are FALSE. I’m using my Sony MDREX38iP/BLK EX Earbud with iPod Remote Control with the Apple 3.5mm to Lightning Converter and I’m able to TALK on the phone fine and USE the CONTROLS. I also tested the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic (ME186LL/A) with the converter and of course that worked too. If this feature did not work, Belkin could be sued for false advertising. I will confirm that it will NOT pass Data. Message to “Allow This Device To Access Photos and Videos” does not appear (I’m using my computer as the power source, but at least it charges). Also rented a car last week (Nissan Versa) and when plugging into the USB port, it said “device not recognized” and would NOT even charge my phone, so that shows it won’t pass Data (Direct connect to the car did allow music and charging to my iPhone 7). This could be a net positive to prevent access to your phone on public USB ports (used at an Airport and worked fine charging and listening to music too).

Now, the charge function is no longer working, but you can still receive the audio signal. Looks like this may be a chronic issue with this product.

The dock did not work with a couole of the cases I tried, and I prefer to have my phone in the landscape position at night when going to sleep listening to tunes. Enter the Belkin Rockstar. There are some shoddy imitations, but Belkin works and I did not want to trust my iPhone power to an unknown. I have come to find that Belkin products are top quality- they just plain work!

However, this morning when I got into work I plugged in my phone and it did not charge. The headphones worked but not the charging. I unplugged the rockstar from my phone and charging worked fine so I confirmed the issue is not with my cable but with the adapter. Seems like a very short lifespan.

I hope one of the lightening connections will work to plug in the adapter to listen to older headphones, while charging on the other one,works. I didn't have that as yet so not sure. Interested to see if anyone else was able to do that. You would think it would. Other than that it seems good. Too pricey though. With shipping it gets up there for an adapter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from when it works, it is great, when it doesn't, well I purchased the Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar™ about 11 months ago at one of the retailers that sell it in the Atlanta International Airport or it might have been at the local BestBuy. At first it worked great, then it slowly was not working, playing the music about 70% of the time through the Bose headset into my new Iphone 8Plus. I replaced the Bose headset, I got Apple to replace the connector and now I am still having the same issue. In my opinion it has to be the Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar. I didn't keep my receipt but I have the product, and it is within the two year warranty period. Will you replace it? If so how do we handle it? Thank you in advance for your help.

Both frayed after 2 or 3 days of use. The short cable tail from lightning connector to splitter end bends in use and then breaks open exposing wires. Seems that huge flaw would surface during quality control testing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It solves one problem but introduces another Disclaimer - I received this unit for no cost in exchange for an unbiased review. The Lightning Audio+Charge Rockstar (Rockstar) is a product that shouldn't exist. Not because of quality issues - it works fine and Belkin did a great job on build quality. This exists because Apple created a need for it, and you'll soon see USB-C versions of this device because Android handset makers are also dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack from their phones (Motorola and other Chinese-branded phones actually beat Apple to market with headphone jack-less handsets, btw). Having said that, the Rockstar does what it needs to do quite well. You connect it to your iOS 10-loaded iDevice (I tested with iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, iPad Air, and iPad Pro 9.7), you plug headphones into one side (I used a Bose set with a Lightning cable connection), you plug your charge cable into the other side, and you listen to music. Functionally speaking, this adapter is transparent to the phone. It sees the connections like it's charging through the headset and goes on about its business. The solid build makes it feel like you won't break it anytime soon. Keep in mind this adapter doesn't allow you to use it for anything else but listening and charging. This includes USB syncing and the camera connection kit (I wasn't able to test USB audio but I can tell you keyboards and MIDI won't work). Don't expect it to, either, since this is by design. My problem with this adapter, however, has to do with pocketability. Disconnected from the phone and headset, it's fine. Leave it connected to your phone, and it's like it's waiting to break. For those of us that are on-the-go with a lightning cable in our pocket and a wired headset on to listen during the day, it's also something else to lose. My one suggestion to Belkin's design time would be to make another version of this with a "U"-shaped connector and rigid covering of the lightning cable that fits with the majority of rugged cases, so this adapter can sit on the back side of the iPhone at all times, in order to make it something not as easily forgotten. All in all, it's a good dongle. It's a dongle that shouldn't exist, but since it does, Belkin did make the best of it. It's great for those that need a solution where you can listen to headphones and charge at the same time, and you don't want Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth adapter for your wired headphones.

I've tried plugging the charger into both sides, tried a few different charger cords to make sure it wasn't my charger, and nothing works. After it worked for a week, I threw out the receipt so now I'm stuck with a broken item. What a waste of $40.

If you do ANYTHING with the charge (plug it in or in plug it) it disables all sound on your phone until you unplug the headphones, close the music app, plug it back in and open music app. If you plan on using both, plug both in first. Wish it worked as advertised esp for the 40.00 price tag. Wait for something better!!!

The older unit simply stopped playing audio over the headphones. Charging still works, but unless both are working at the same time, why bother?

This is a truly awful product. I originally tried to write a review of this product from Belkin's mobile site. However, that was built about as well as this product and the review text-box was unable to detect when words were typed inside of it (and you can't submit a review without text in this box)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product, If You Need It Full disclosure: I was sent this product to review it. Honestly, it works great for its intended purpose. I was able to charge my phone and connect Lightning headphones at the same time. I didn't notice any difference in sound quality between plugging the headphones into this product or plugging them straight into my iPhone. They also work perfectly with the 3.5 mm to Lightning adapter provided by Apple with my phone. The RockStar feels sturdy and uses Apple's signature look well. If it weren't for the Belkin logo on the Lightning plug, this could easily have been mistaken for something made by Apple. It also couldn't be simpler to use. Plug it into the iPhone and plug your headphones and power cord into either available port. There are only two things I could think of to make this product better. First would have been to have one port be a 3.5 mm jack. I only have the one pair of lightning headphones Apple provided and the adapter. I have a pile of old headphones though. My second thought would have been, if you have two Lightning ports on the adapter, let it be used to plug in two sets of headphones to act as a splitter. This may be a limitation set by Apple and not the product itself, but it would add a level of use to the RockStar. If you use Lightning headphones or 3.5 mm headphones with a Lightning adapter, this is a great product to be able to listen to music while you charge your phone. Personally, I use Bluetooth about 99.9% of the time, but I'm glad I have this product for those times I can't.

I would have to choose between charging my phone at my desk at work or listening to music. Now I can do both! Definitely recommend! I still have not found wireless ear phones that are adequate for my needs, so needed a solution to my problem. I ordered two of these: one for my office and one for home. This is working out as well better than expected and I'm able to keep my phone charged and talk for long periods at a time. Excellent product!

There is a nice solution to that problem in the form of a simple splitter that allows charging and listening. Works really well, although you cannot use it to split into two headphones. Simple and elegant, just what is needed.

They took out the headphone jack to make the phone more water resistant. Well if you have this adapter you need ANOTHER adapter to get the best out of it. It comes with to lightning ports. Not a headphone jack and a lightning port. Just two lightning ports. But the other one that just came out with two different ports. Not this one.

With my iPhone 6, I always had my headphones plugged in to - for music & phone use. I purchased this adapter to use in the same manner with my iPhone 7. I thought it answered all the shortcomings of the iPhone 7's lack of 3.5mm jack. I was quite shocked when I plug in the adapter, plug in the cable from my MacPro - and lo & behold - iTunes can't see it, XCode can't see it. It's no where. This cable does NOT pass through data (primary reason for purchasing this) This cable solves one problem, while creating another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Half the time I connect, there's no sound I pre-ordered this when it was released and after 2 weeks of use I don't know if it's Apple or Belkin, but about every other time I connect with headphones and charger plugged in, I can't hear audio. I answer a call and the sound isn't going through the headphones. I can unplug and plug it back in and it will connect, but it is extremely annoying that it doesn't connect 100% of the time. I've had to say "hold on a second" while I unplug/plug it in.

After looking at several cheaper options and reading the reviews I bought this because of the quality of the brand. I was not disappointed. Works as advertised. The charging port is a quick charge so be careful, your phone will be at 100% in no time. The audio works with the headphone jack during a phone call also. In short this product is worth money.

Wanted iPhone to charge while used in this fashion. iPhone has iOS 10 installed. Apple certified lightning to USB cables were used between Belkin and the charging source and Dac/Amp. DAC/Amp normally receives iPhone's music and sends to the ear buds. Not with this device. No audio received by DAC/Amp. May work great with Apple headphones directly attached. Don't know. So just beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple solution... If you have a lightning cable only device this product is a no-brainer. You may have read this "no-brainer" description before in other reviews, but this is truly something that should have come with every iPhone 7 or 7+. Fortunately for us Belkin has filled this need. This device/dongle splits the only (lightning) port available and provides you an additional port to use a set of headphones/earphones and charge your device at the same time. This may be required if you use your phone while listening to headphones/earphones and need to charge your device at the same time. If you're not a fan of utilizing wireless/Bluetooth, you know this problem well. Overall, this is a clean and simple design, which I like Belkin sticking to. It's a simple dongle that has two ports at one end. In it's functionality it does work well. It's a typical quality build from Belkin, so there seems to be no worry about durability. For what this product was intended it does well and I would recommend. That being said, the dongle is big and should be reduced in size. This does still match the traditional form factor of Apple and Belkin designed adapter products, but this dongle could have be designed much smaller. For this feature, you will sacrifice the awkwardly sized dongle hanging from your iPhone. For this size they could have added a simple 3.5 mm headphone jack as well, which would be another concern. It would be a more ideal if they added a simply 3.5 mm port rather than another lighting port. Lastly, there was such a simple feature they could have added with a dongle like this, the ability to use two sets of earphones. If you're curious, no you cannot plug two powers sources into the dongle. That is understandable. That being said, I do wonder why they could not engineer the electronics to simply split the audio when two headphones/earphones were plugged in. Maybe that would be a future updated version... hint hint hint. As with any review, they can be subjective and can be based on many factors, so your intended use should be considered. In this case, I prefer that this product would take advantage of the two lightning ports and have the ability to use two headphones at the same time. Also, the size of the product seems unusually large for it's intended purpose. If these are not issues for you, you can argue this is a 5-Star product. Please keep this in mind when considering this review.

The fact that I thought there would never be a gadget that would let me listen to music while charging my phone was truly devastating. However, upon hearing about this product, I felt the complete need to try it out - and I can say it was worth it! As someone who's on her phone a lot, I constantly have to charge my phone. As someone who enjoys Netflix and music - I constantly have to be on my phone! This device is connected to where the charger would go on an iPhone and allows for two other contraptions to be connected to it. I am now able to watch Netflix or listen to music from earphones WHILE CHARGING MY PHONE! The connected contraptions must have the same cord as the typical iPhone charger. Connecting cables to this gadget in no way reduces the quality. The sound quality is the same and the phone charges JUST as fast as it would if it were connected directly to a charger. There's no "interference" or "cutting off" when it comes to charging OR audio. Only thing I would change in this contraption is that I would make the cord a bit smaller. I feel as if the cord is too long and it looks a little silly sometimes. Also, I would offer it in black as well! Other than that, great product and would truly recommend to anyone.

My most recent issue has been my phone not recognizing my earbuds when they are plugging into the adapter even though my phone still recognizes them when they are directly plugged into my phone. I really loved being able to use this adapter and really wish it still worked for the price and the short amount of time I've been using it.

Used it as directed. I found this website just so I could leave this review. What makes matters worse is Apple actually used to have this on their website. It is very frustrating because they are not the cheapest and I expect to get some time out of them . The first one lasted longer but this second one I’ve had maybe a month . Like I said I love it when it works . Maybe they should really look into fixing this since it seems that most of the reviews say the same thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poorly Advertised and Executed I’ve purchased 2 Belkin Lightning rockstar charger, thinking the first 1 was defective, and it will not charge through usb in my car and allow me to listen to my headphones at the same time for incoming calls. What gives? Why is this not working? Not everyone listens to their headphones while charging their phone via an electrical outlet. Total faulty product and needs to be fixed or re-advertised since it shows a picture in the manual displaying it can charge via an automobile.

After 3-4mos of purchase, it completed shorted out due to the tear in the white covering becoming 3/4cm long. I wish I would’ve have wrapped it before it had gotten this out of hand or they were wire-wrapped and didn’t short so easily.

It makes no difference if it is on my IPhone 7 or if I switch it over to my iPad. I’m super disappointed. I have had many other Belkin products over the years and have not ever experienced this poor of quality.

Very disappointing that we are offered these add-on devices to make up for apples oversight when developing hardware updates to their products. Not blaming Belkin here at all, merely wanted all to be aware of the problem before they purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product if it worked... I bought this when I first got my iPhone 7 since my car does not have Bluetooth. I can say that when this cable actually works it's great. However that is only about 1/3 of the time. I thought I had gotten a defective one but stuck with it. I finally got fed up and spend another $40 on another one and this one works about the same amount of time. Sometimes when I plug it in nothing happens but separately all of my cables work. Super disappointing and I wouldn't recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only a partial solution I own a 2008 car that came with a older style Apple iPod dongle. It works fine with my new iPhone 7 although it has many adapters to make it all work. This was offered as a potentially elegant replacement to all the adapters. The old dongle with the adapters is able to pass audio, power and song data to the car's audio system. The Belkin replacement only carries the audio signal and power. It does not carry the song info that the 2008 GM provided dongle carries. If GM and Apple could design a working dongle in 2008 why can't Belkin or anyone else?

However, now only the left socket works. Now I'm back to either charging or listening. Another malfunction is the auxiliary function in my car. Since my initial use, I can hear static over my music while attempting to charge and play music on the aux at the same time.

You must remove the case before the adapter will function properly. 2. This adapter does not pass data through to your laptop. It's no longer possible to develop iPhone applications or sync your iPhone while listening to music on your iPhone at the same time. These two use cases were previously supported when the iPhone had a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It's also worth pointing out that this adapter does not function as a headphone splitter, even though it logically makes sense to support that functionality on something that appears to be a splitter.

However, in one configuration, Spotify would pause the music every 30 seconds. So I switched the power and the music. In that configuration, Spotify would play music but the audio would drop out every 10 seconds. I'm trying to listen to Spotify in my car while the phone charges and the adapter has made it amazingly annoying to listen to. Just going to return it and listen to music without charging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Really Want to Love This Product I'm going on my third one of these in less than 4 months and I'm not hard on cables at all, but they just don't last. The adapter stops charging your phone unless it's placed just so. Of course, you don't always notice this right away and think you're charging your badly depleted battery only to come back and find out it's not been charging at all. Just so disappointed. Contacting Belkincares to get my replacements after posting this. That is the only thing saving this review from being a 1 star. They have been good about replacing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wiring breaks; max product life three months I’ve purchased five total since November of 2017. I bought three of them six months ago for the house, car, and briefcase. All of them short out with the slightest bit of bending with a max life of about three months. I’ve also tried other products that cost 1/3 of the price and they fail sooner. Now, to charge and talk, I’ve got to spend another $45 for three month or less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DISAPPOINTING I bought TWO of these. Neither work to charge my device - that has an Apple Charging Case on it. I am trying to charge it from my car charger. It only supports the audio aspect of the Rockstar's purpose. Not happy at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to be able to listen and charge It would be nice if the audio/charger was on a shorter dongle...maybe design the adapter like an upside down “T” with no dongle so it stays close to the phone. This adapter gets too long when you also plug in a 3.5 headphone adapter. Packaging is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For iphone 7 I received this item in exchange for a review. I have had it for a while but didn't know how I could use it. After checking the web site I found out this item is for iphone 7 and I have a 6 S. This is used to allow you to charge your phone and listen to music at the same time. I thought I could use it to just charge my phone or ipad since it is short and compact and easy to carry around. I tired to plug in my mini usb for the purpose of charging either of the above but found out that the input port looks like it takes a micro usb but does not. So, I can't really use it to test it out. That is why I had to give it a 3 star rating. If, it is anything like the portable charger I received it is probably a 5 star item. The quality of all the Belkin items I have purchased is very good. Maybe when I upgrade my current phone I will have a use for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Product for a 7 I looked on line for such a device, I found nothing that supports the microphone. iPhone 7 won't give me enough talk time. Because my work can demand me to be on the phone for 8 hours, I hated my 7. Wanted my 6s back. Apple store had this product. IT IS THE BEST THING TO HAVE WITH A IPHONE7 !!! With out this device I would have traded my 7 for a 6s or SE just to have the ability to charge and talk at the same time. I just bought it so I don't know the long term. But if it does what it did in the store, Then you cannot have a more valuable tool for your 7 !!!

When I'm trying to get real work done, I run music off my phone instead too so I use it to charge/listen as opposed to using my laptop to stream music. Build quality is nice, and its got a style similar to apple products.

(Thx alot Apple, but well played) Just bought it on Aug 11th to listen to music at work. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It works great when it does work. I have to plug it in and unplug it at least twice to get it to work properly. Main issue: It will charge but the headphones don’t work at the same time until I unplug it and try again. Very annoying. :/

They both lasted about 1 year each until they would become loose in the port or a short in the cable and either would not charge or play music unless you moved the wire around. The first time I thought maybe it was just a bad unit, the second one I knew it was a bad design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unwanted necessity With the removal of the iPhone's headphone jack, there's only one place to plug in for power, headphones and accessories. While I hate dongles, this is a handy addition to keep in my car or on travels as it allows me to power up my iPhone while listening to music, which is critical in keeping me happy while drivings. Solidly crafted and the white matches all my other Apple accessories.

This is great for keeping your I Phone charged while you listening to music or if you talk on the phone a lot. The only drawback is I wish it had a softer more flexible cable for running or walking you have a lot of cables with the headphones and the charger and they are a little difficult to manage with the stiff cable coming from your phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The dongle Apple should have included in the box This dongle is such a no brainer, I'm curious as to why Apple didn't include it in the box with the iPhones 7. Regardless, Belkin has created a much needed product that is so simple to use, that there really is no written instructions - just a picture card that shows you what you can and can't do. Can't get any simpler than that. And, the product does exactly what it is supposed to do - let you charge and listen to lightning audio simultaneously. There's not much else to say about this product except that it fulfills a much needed void in Apple's dongle-filled world these days. If you haven't made the switch to wireless (ie, Bluetooth) headphones, then you need this.

A lifesaver on long flights. Good build quality that I've come to expect from Belkin. Also fits in perfectly with the Apple design aesthetic. The device could be much smaller in my opinion. Hoping version 2 can have a shorter cable and the rectangular enclosure can be about half the size.

This latest headphone adapter for the iPhone X is outstanding, and does everything it is claimed to do with no issues whatsoever. I have needed Belkin support twice for product information and replacement, and they have outstanding customer service. I highly recommend both this product as well as Belkin support, both world class!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with the Apple 7 Smart Battery Case Decent product. Does what it indicates except that it does not work with the Apple 7 Smart Battery Case. I typically leave this case on all of the time. When playing podcasts it stops playing every 15-60 seconds. Hit play again and it will continue to stop every 15-60 seconds. If yo u use the Apple Battery case you may want to test this before you buy it.

I like to stream radio stations and music in my car and also charge the phone. When they work properly they are great but they never make it past 6 months before they die. And at 40.00 they should last much longer then that

What confuses me is that 63 people have had problems and 68 people say they are good. 63 problems means there is something seriously wrong with the product!! 50/50 is not good odds! Belkin keeps saying over and over that they make them strong and to last! Well somethings wrong and at that price they should last years!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never had a problem with it, but price is steep I have used this adapter time and time again and it has never given me any issues except for the cable eventually wearing down over constant bending and twisting on my part. It works so well that I've even purchased it a second time, but again due to the bending and twisting it stopped working on me again. The only thing stopping me from buying a third is the steep price, but I cannot stress how well it works!

While it won't be as useful for iPhones 8 and newer with wireless charging, it does allow for audio out and charge in. Which is great when one needs to have lightning audio out. For that use, I can recommend this product. If you need a headphone jack, I think Belkin has other alternatives which will serve that need.

Was great when i first bought it but quality is not great so broke fast for no reason

Because his AAC program is iOS only, he has to have an adapter because he will not use wireless headphones. Also, as this program has to be always running, since it's how he speaks, he leaves his phone plugged in to charge nearly all the time. Every single one, the cheap plastic coating over the wires frayed apart, exposing the wires. We finally started wrapping them with duct tape before giving him to them. So far the fourth one has lasted. I don't might paying $40 for something he needs, but not $40 every month because the company couldn't be bothered to make a design that is functional and use cheap materials that expose my child to bare wires with regular use.

My iPhone became not recognize this device suddenly, then it could not be charged. This is expensive, too. I recommend a splitter of Baseus, which is as cheap as 1/10 of this product's price.

(I Am using the headphones that came with my iphone). The headphones work, both sides of the adapter work, just not together which sucks.

Tried with my wife’s phone, same issue. Tried with my son’s lighting Apple earphones, same issue. 4 stars because it worked great but it doesn’t anymore.
