A cable adapter I wouldn't be without
This product was purchased to help my husband download his topographic maps onto his gps. With our desktop computer going down, all we had left was our laptop without a port to support his gps. When my son told me the type of adapter I needed, I was able to search the web and find this DB9 adapter. It was able to be purchased in 2 lengths but the shorter cable worked great with our laptop. My husband was able to once again downloaded his maps and the talk of buying a bigger and better gps was over, saving us hundred of dollars. The cable and adapter was just what was needed to help use his prior gadgets without having to buy new.

Hardware Good - Software Bad
I use this product several times a week in my job, and so do some of my coworkers. The product is nice for us because our laptops do not have Serial ports, so we use this product to console into networking equipment.
The biggest issue I have with this product is the drivers for it. I use Windows 7 64-bit and so do my coworkers. This device will almost always (4 out of 5 times) bluescreen my laptop, especially when I'm in debug mode or if I'm receiving a lot of info from the console. I have tried the last three versions of the drivers and none of them have helped the bluescreen issues.
CablesToGo: Please, PLEASE fix the issues this device has with Windows 7 64-bit. If a new driver is not released soon, my coworkers and I will have to find a more compatible product.

Great little Cable
I needed a adapter for a time clock at our business. The time clock had a serial interface and our new computer that was installed didn't come with one. This cable worked and is a steady work horse. My only complaint is if the computer isn't restarted every three months or so Windows gets confused with the port.
Great overall product.

I was skeptical to buy this product b\c many reviews stated the drivers didn't work with the 64 bit version of Windows 7, which is what i'm running on my laptop that I use to configure devices. Not sure why the drivers didn't work for others but it works on my 64 bit version of windows perfectly.

A good tool
I needed a serial to usb adapter for configuring cisco routers. This product worked great, good instructions for install and configuration. My only hold back is they send a CD with the driver software, luckily I happen to have an older external drive, but it would be a lot easier if there was a link to download the driver. Otherwise good product. Recommended.

This Cable Works With A Zebra LP 2844!
This cable works! I have a older model Zebra LP 2844 thermal label printer with a serial port but no USB port. The cable allowed me to connect the 2844 printer to a Dell laptop or my Apple Mac Mini running Parallels and Windows XP and print shipping labels. Before connecting the cable make sure you use the installation disk and install the driver software first. Then reboot, and then connect the cable and Windows will install it. Then connect the cable to your printer and install your 2844 printer by going to control panel and add new hardware. If your printer happens to be already installed you may have to delete it and reinstall it. When you reinstall it, XP will give you the option of picking which port to install it to. Check to see which port your computer installed the adapter cable on and use that port for your printer installation. On my computer it was COM 3. It is essential you pick the correct port. Note that if you print a test label it may or may not look so great. So if you have a UPS account, go to their website and run through their thermal printer installation process which installs print drivers for the 2844 and an Active X control. Print a test label. The labels will look great!

64 bit drivers cause BSOD
Like someone else stated, the 64 bit drivers (version 3.0.2) are unreliable, they cause a blue screen of death with multiple-IRP_complete_requests error and this happens at 115.200 bps. The other user had the same problem at a slower speed. This problem makes the product unusable on 64 bit operating systems.

Supports Full Handshaking
One of its strongest features is the "prolific" driver it ships with. It suppports "full hardware handshaking" (which many other USB/Ser converters DON'T) as well as 7 bit data which is also sometimes a problem with other converters. This is the only one I use and it works in EVERY situation I've run across which has not been my experience with other converters.

I needed this adapter to connect a (home automation device) CM11A X10 serial interface to my Vista machine which had no serial ports. This works flawlessly and I felt was purcased for a fair price. The only negative comment I can make is that it did not come with software drivers. My Vista Home Premium machine was able to find the driver for me online as part of the "found new hardware process, however I feel that someone other than a "power user" may have not been successful at that point and would have needed support. All in all a great product however and I continue to be happy to do business with this company.

Works like a charm
Great for connecting to legacy devices such as old phone systems, fire alarm panels, security systems, etc. Since new computers no longer have Serial Ports, this is the best way to go by far.

Did Not Work
I purchased this UART converter cable to connect to two new HP 1950 12XGT switches via their console ports. It will not connect from my laptop to either of them, connecting this adapter cable to the serial to RJ45 console cable that came with the devices.
I cannot say that the adapter cable is bad, because it might just be an HP serial cable pinning issue, so I will not return it. Hopefully that is the case, because if I knew the cable was bad for sure, I would return it. Since serial connections are SO obsolete, I have nothing to test this cable with, so I am stuck I guess.

Now useless with windows 7/10 64bit
I have this cable for a really long time. It used to work fine but as new driver updates were released, it started to get less and less support for my need. I used to utilize this adapter to program radios, home automation devices and many other utilities like reverse engineer rs232 protocols but now it is useless.
Some of my software do seem to work only one way (transmit PC to device but from device to PC, no response). Some other sofware does not even connect and only 2 out of 8 software/utilities I use work now with this cable. Even though the driver are windows 10 certified, that thing does NOT work.
If you plan to use this for speciality products, DO NOT buy this adapter.
The ONLY way have been able to make this cable work under windows 7/10 is to install an old 2008 driver v3.3.2.102. With THAT driver, absolutely no issue, it works like a charm. This is the ONLY driver that works with ALL my programs.
If you have difficulties like me with speciality products, you absolutely need to try the driver v3.3.2.102, I am pretty sure it WILL work but as new driver will be release, windows always find a way to update it even if I have put the ID product NOT to upgrade.
So each time I get a window update, the driver gets override EVEN though I said windows NOT to upgrade this particular device.
Construction of product is OK. Was worth it when it did work but now with no response from anybody I try to send this information, I get no support back, it is useless even though the electronics inside are still good. Driver issue.

Unreliable with Win764
Does not work reliably with Win7-64bit on laptop but seems to work ok on our Win7-64 bit desktop. Don't know what the difference could possily be. Runs about a minute and then gets hung up. Cables TO GO has indicated several times they;re trying to get this fixed. Running 2400/8/1/N so not pushing the speed barrier at all! Driver on CD is late 2010 and not up to date. Use the driver on the website. We've been trying for months to get something that will work reliably on WIN764.

We use this product to connect lab equipment with serial ports to a laptop. This allows the equipment to communicate with the computer so data can be collected via our computer program.
The only problem is I have to keep buying them, because they tend to walk off with visitors. This is the only brand I recommend to customers and colleagues.

64 bit drivers don't work
This works great as long as you are on XP 32-bit. If you are on a 64-bit machine it will BSOD your box when you run at a speed of 19200. No matter what I plug it into, speed 19200 works for about 1 min then I get a BSOD with Multiple_IRP_Request errors.
