I love my previous version MF733cdw
I've had mine MF733Cdw for about 2 years now. It is stellar. I love it. I use it everyday. The scanner and print quality is awesome. It takes a while to get the hang of the software and functions but once you master that the device is fantastic.

Worst printer ever from
Horribly expensive toner, WIFI useless, image quality subpar.
I bought this printer to replace a Brothers color laser printer that I had printed over 250,000 pages on. The worn out Brothers printer still prints with better image quality. Toner for these printers is also extremely high. Toner prices are just a plain rip off. The WIFI, I can only guess it has it because no matter what I do it never worked. I got so mad at this printer I literally took it out to the backstop and put a couple of 50BMG and 338 Lapua rounds through it. If nothing else it was satisfying to see it explode into tiny pieces. I bought another Brothers printer and am very happy with it. This was my first and last Canon printer.

RIP OFF!
I purchased this printer copier from Best Buy about a month ago. What a RIP OFF! Better read the fine print because they only include STARTER ink cartridges in the colors! They want $529.00 and only include starter color cartridges??? I only printed 58 pages in color and ink is already down to 80%! NOT HAPPY, SUPPORT A JOKE!

Great product, weak setup instructions or home use
I bought the MF743Cdw printer for my home network instead of the HP counterpart because of Canon price and warranty advantages. I had read that some buyers had wifi issues which was of some concern and I learned why. The setup out of the box was easy if you use the online instructions. The manual that comes in the box seems to be directed more towards an office environment that requires a remote U/I (user interface that I don't require at home. I was able to unbox and fully set up the print, scan, and fax capabilities, complete with updated drivers in about twenty minutes. However, the next day, my computer and iphones couldn't find the printer. I called Canon support and after a long wait was able to talk to a very helpful and professional tech person. The issue involves the use of dynamic IP addresses on my home network. I had done everything correctly, but failed to turn off the sleep function on the printer. Therefore, everytime it went to sleep, it had to retrieve a new IP address from the router. Simple solution was to turn off the sleep function. However, the tech advised that the unit sometimes has issues with the Apple Bonjour software and advised that we set up a fixed IP address. He walked me through that process in about ten minutes. All is well now. Great tech support. Canon should point out that if the sleep mode is on, the dynamic IP function will cause the printer to go offline every time it goes to sleep. Also, if they can't fix the Bonjour interface, they should include detailed instructions on how to set a fixed IP address using an Apple computer. Printer, scanner and fax are all significant upgrades from my previous inkjet arrangement.

Solid black and white printer/copier
The printer is great for printing in black and white. It is quick and the images are fine. The copier works well too. I haven't faxed yet. It was rated 4/5 for color in CR but the color is mediocre as compared to inkjets. Color is not good enough to print framable photos, a huge disappointment. The printer was difficult to setup but I did it. I am using a cable because some complained about connectivity issues. This seems to remove the ability to print from smart phones and I still haven't had success in activating the auto ink service.

Print Quality Not Good
I bought this to replace my Canon imageCLASS MF726Cdw unit. I've owned many Canon models that are similar over the years. The print quality of the MF743Cdw is terrible compared to my previous machine. Print is very light (printing same document with text & pics on both machines for comparison, and quality is not great. I've tried adjusting with print quality advanced settings and updating firmware with no luck in improving things. :( I'll have to hang on to my old machine until it completely dies for printing brochures and picture quality publications. This one is only good enough for daily office printing use for items that are not published.
I discarded my box assuming that this model would be as good as all the others I've owned over the years, so I'm guessing it's not returnable.

Quite surprised!
Product: Canon MF743Cdw
`I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.`
As an educator, I am constantly making copies and printing things throughout the day. In a typical year, I experience multiple copiers/printers, and struggle with repeat paper jams, dark copies, poor scans, etc. I have to say that this copier has really impressed me.
Assembly - This printer was very easy to take out of box and get to work. The instructions that accompanied it were all easy to read and made set up very easy to complete. If the set up had been difficult, there would have been no way for me to give this a good rating.
Stability- This printer falls in between some of the smaller desktop ones and the ones that are typically in larger businesses. With this size, it was surprisingly very stable. There was no concern of it falling over or being too heavy to move, so shockingly, it was perfect.
Price - When I first saw the price, I was a little alarmed. I attribute this to the fact that I have only previously purchased desktop computers for myself, which are extremely cheaper. However, after using this printer for a couple of days, I can definitely see why the price is higher than a desktop printer that I am familiar with. It packs all the punch of a much larger product and I love it.

Great Functionality,Beautiful Copies
I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
The item was packaged securely and mostly assembled upon opening. It is very heavy and awkward to remove from the box, took at least two people and a box knife to free it. I would definitely recommend two people to lift the printer.
Installation was easy and intuitive, and the printer connected to my computer with no issues. The wireless setup was also intuitive with the touchscreen and I was able to network two additional computers and a tablet to the printer with no trouble.
The fax function was simple to set up and worked in and outbound with no issues.
Print quality is very nice, crisp and does not use a lot of toner. Test photos are very clear and true to color. Prints and copies much faster than our previous printer, even in color or double-sided.
After a week of use, I have been unable to make the unit print envelopes correctly. The orientation listed in the online manual (face down, flap on the left prints on the wrong side. “Correct” face up orientation causes the envelopes to catch in the paper feeder and results in a paper jam every time.
It is not intuitive how to change the paper size, or to use the front paper feeder. I’ve been unable to work these functions, even with online forum help.
As a regular printer, this would be more useful if I had need more often to print photos, it seems almost wasteful to use it for day-to-day office printing and copying. For a small office (3-5 people) printing/copying about 150 pages weekly, most often in black and white, it is “too much”, in price and in substance. A larger office with more need for color/photo copies and functionality would probably find this a great option for the price.

Excellent Features, Easy to Use and Assemble!
I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I had a need for a printer for when I work at home both professionally and personally. My favorite feature of this printer is its multifunction. This printer not only can print, copy, scan and fax but my favorite feature is the enhance text and has an ID card copy functions that I have not had on previous printers. Most importantly, the size of the product fit perfectly in my small home office. The product instructions was clear and easy to understand it took no more than 15 minutes for me to assemble and connect via wireless LAN. Compared to other printers this so far has been the best experience for assembling with less steps to get everything together to start printing via wireless LAN. This printer met my expectations and so far has allowed me to quickly scan documents and quickly print with the highest quality of print both in color and black and white. Improvements would be a bit more smaller and lighter in weight. Overall, this is a good multifuction printer that is easy to assemble a bit bulky but if you have the room it will definitely meet professional and personal printing needs for both home and office.

Great Small Office Printer!
I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. When opening up the box, the printer was very heavy. The product was in a box securely fastened with Styrofoam. The printer had orange tape all around that was easy to remove. The set up was simple with the instructions provided. Immediately I noticed the huge touch screen on the printer. Once the printer is inactive for a minute the screen automatically shuts off. The touch screen on the printer is pretty good. On occasion I have to press twice to get a button pressed.
The copy machine on this machine is very impressive!! It allows you to copy a page 1 or 2 sided and allows for color copies as well which is hard to find. When I tried making a copy, I put the page inside, shut the door hit start and the machine copied the page in about 5 seconds. Then the copy came out very quickly! Definitely very impressed.
The only issue I had was Connecting the Wi-fi to the printer but after a while I was able to figure it out. The printer prints very easily and printer way quicker than my other printer at home.
I would suggest an easier time connecting the printer to Wi-Fi. Also I would suggest making this printer less weight because it was really tough taking it out of the box and carrying it downstairs. I also do not know what the NFC button is on the side of the screen.

I bought an Imageclass a few models below this one and it would print double sided every other time I printed a project. Regardless of the settings. Along with other problems I upgraded to this model thinking maybe it would be better. While my scanning issues were fixed with this model it would ONLY print double sided. I changed the settings everywhere I could. Everything would be set to single sided and it still prints double sided. Even the factory set single sided option is set to double sided. It's maddening.
I've installed and reinstalled drivers, I've spent so much time researching a solution. I'm at my wits end and will probably end up returning this one to.

Great printer!
I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. It was extremely easy to set up, much easier than printers I have used in the past. The instructions were great and helped set up everything alot easier than I expected. This printer is the perfect size for an office because it`s not as big as some of the older ones I have used but is still a nice size and very stable. I love that it is multifunction and you can print, copy, scan and fax in additional to enhance text and ID card copy functions. This printer has exceeded my expectations. I couldn`t be happier with it. I highly recommended it if you are looking for a business printer and it is perfect when you work out of your home. I feel like I finally have the quality I have been looking for in a printer.

Great Features
My family was in need of a quality printer, which did not take up a lot of desk space. This product meets my expectations with the quality of copies, and printed material that has been provided. This device was easy to assemble, very few attachments that were needed to ensure optimum operation. The production instructions were clear, and concise, i was able to connect to my wireless internet, with no technical problems. This product compared to my last printer is much more efficient. My only suggestion for this product would be to ask the manufacture if it could be produced at a lighter weight, the device is quite heavy, and requires at least 2 people to station in a secure position. My overall impression is that this device is an excellent home/work machine.

Color imageCLASS MF743Cdw
Great machine functionally. Fast first page out, excellent print quality, full featured (print, scan, fax and copy. Love the auto double side feature for both print and the auto document feeder. So far everything has worked perfectly. Connedted to network switch and Windows 10 found and connected to the printer with no issues.
On the minus side, included documentation is not very intuitive. Had to go online to get much of the info for initial setup. Also, machine default (out of box settings) are not optimal and takes some tweaking to get the print quality advertised/expected. I also find that for a machine at this price point, while overall it is well made, the paper tray/drawer is a bit flimsy/cheap. For these reasons I deducted 1 star.

Not what I was hoping for
Issues out of box with print quality. Had to manually adjust the toner levels to get pages to print in full color. Factory settings seem to be for extreme ink saving. Also, the printer will randomly print out a blank page on it's own. The printer will be in sleep mode and spit out a blank page. Happened in the middle of the night and scared me half to death.

Great Home Office Printer/Scanner but Not a Photo Printer
Easy to set up on iMac. Used the standard Catalina drivers then switched to Canon Drivers because it offers color corrections. No amount of correction will match crisp and bright colors like inkjet. This printer is muted and dull. If you want photo quality printing... inkjet all day. Besides, this printer chokes and will jam using photo quality paper. If you occasionally print photos, don't throw out the inkjet.
I'm giving 5 stars because its fast and works for what I needed. If you need fast printing and scanning, The 743CDW is really good. Its a reliable office printer.

Problems printing PDFs on MacOs Catalina
I bought this printer on Amazon. While the hardware works fine, the print drivers are on MacOS problematic. When I print PDFs from the MacOS Preview app on this printer, many characters get replaced with empty boxes. If you plan on using MacOS, I would find a different printer. I have tried reinstalling the OS and the print drivers and neither fixes the problem. Tech support just blames Apple, but other printers work fine.

Worst Printer/Scanner I have ever owned
This has been the worst purchase I have ever made. I work from home with three children so work has to be done efficiently and there is nothing efficient about the Canon MF743Cdw. I send docs to the printer and sometimes they print, sometimes it takes all day and I have to keep coming back to it. The scanner works less than the printer. I get a error every time! I have called customer service twice and of course they fix it and it works for a day maybe two and then its right back to error and LOW efficiency. Unfortunately I am stuck with it for now but want to discourage other from making this mistake.

Great home office solution
One and only one complaint, the inability to browse to choose where a scanned file goes on my computer. I've just accepted it going to My Documents and then moving it to the destination. Not really any more work than browsing beforehand. Other than that, this machine rocks. I used to take big documents to work to scan and then email home. Not anymore. With this machine there is no excuse to keep paperwork around the house. I scan everything and keep it in the cloud. WiFi printing and scanning is AWESOME - no more cables! Color laser printing without frequent ink changes like our old inkjet, which seemed to need a new ink cartridge for every significant print job. For this price point you can have office quality and quantity of printing and scanning for a consumer price. Just make sure you're ready for the very infrequent toner cartridge replacements when that eventually happens.

Great printer for the cost
I have a small business and love this printer. It is affordable and provides all the functionalities I desire. However, the printer does require some set up time. The small booklet that comes with the printer is not sufficient if you have an internal network and do scanning to e-mails, etc. You need to download the user manual from their web site. In my case, I needed some assistance from Canon support service because the printer could not send scanned files to my e-mail due to 2-factor authentication. Their support service is very good, but it takes time (probably due to COVID-19 to access. Overall, we were very pleased with this printer once everything was set up.

Great value with 2-sided, single pass scanning
We bought the Canon ImageClass MF733Cdw in November ‘18 which developed print quality issues and was replaced with a ImageClass MF743Cdw which is nearly identical. It is reliable, quick, and scans 2-sided (1-pass wonderfully; my standard scan setting is color at 300dpi which will pickup grays, etc beautifully. To replace an older All-in-One machine from a different manufacturer for which it was impossible to get crisp scanning, I originally bought another printer touting low ink consumption with a big reservoir, but returned it due to lack of auto duplex scanning. I would have had to spend around 3-times more to get the same features as with this Cannon.
This machine is a beast in size and weight, but I did a work-around by placing it on a small-profile rolling utility cart rated for 350 lbs which makes access a breeze.

I have had this copier now for over 6 months. It is great at doing everything. I have read the negative reviews and can only say that you need to read the book and call customer support if you need technical help. They are awesome and can solve any issues you may have. Like all good copiers you will need to perform the auto graduation in order to receive the best quality output. This is by far the best small MFP Copier I have ever owned. I highly recommend this product.

Terrible experience
We are very disappointed with our Canon MF742C printer. Shortly after purchase it began to make intermittent loud noises as if the rollers were grinding. The ink cartridges did not last long at all, and we then found that replacing the color toner cartridges cost almost as much as the printer. The loud grinding noises are now more common than ever after only 6 months of service. I tried to call Customer Support today to find a repair center only to find the telephone wait was longer than 1 hour! If you're looking for a printer you may want to avoid this one!

NOT NOT NOT user friendly!
I regret that I ever bought it and that I sailed to listen to all the people who wrote that it’s not user friendly. When it works it’s fine, except that 80% of the time it doesn’t connect and it won’t work. It is completely counterintuitive and not at all user-friendly and I am
quite tech literate. I will never purchase another one and the only reason I am keeping this one is because I paid so much for it. Honestly most of the time I default to my teenagers Brother which can’t quite match the print quality for photos, but at least it’s reliable and it works consistently. Unfortunately contacting customer service isn’t happening either so it’s just been a frustrating, lose-lose proposition through the entire experience.

very poor Mac integration
In concept this is a fabulous printer. However, due to poor integrations, it's mostly unusable. It doesn't matter how many times you install or uninstall drivers, the connectivity between your Mac and the printer is extremely fragile.
Immediately after installation, everything works great. As soon as you reboot the printer or your Mac, however, you have to reinstall everything, or at least delete your connection and reconfigure a new one. (Referring to network connections.
Often when I print, I have to wait several minutes for my Mac to "find" the printer. If I'm lucky, it does, but other times, I have to delete the printer from System Preferences and re-add it before I can use it again.
The connectivity issues are super annoying, and way beyond anyone who is not tech-savvy. I have several CS degrees and I'm comfortable with the process, but my family is out of luck without me. It's not my network. Everything else in my house works great. It's not my computer. Same problem happens on all of them. Just the printer, which works great until the next power cycle.

Sorriest printer on the market
I purchased this piece of junk in October 2020. Nothing works on this printer except COPY. You can never scan because it can never find a connection to the computer. The on the copier screen commands never work. You are always required to use the Remote UI, but the UI commands don't work because the printer never recognizes that it is connected to the computer. All the other printers in the house can connect to the computer. And to top it off, the printer is so heavy and bulky it can not be moved by 1 person. Printer uses toner like it is drinking koolaid. Replacing all of the toner cartridges at one time is more expensive than the printer.
I did register this printer with Canon after I purchased it.
The store where I purchased the computer will not take it back so I am left with a worthless cube weighing what seems like 100 lbs or more 70 lbs taking up precious real estate in my home office.

1. I couldn't connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when I turned on my Setting, so I can't print online from my laptop or my phone.
2. When I scan a file, instead of doing a one-time double-sided scan.
3. Color printing doesn't work well, the colors are biased, and the color boundaries are fuzzy.
4. I couldn't get through to Canon's tech support phone for several days, and the problem couldn't be solved. I can only print documents through USD, which goes against my purpose of buying this printer and cannot meet my needs.

Good so far, but new toners ($ouch$)
Only had it a month and so far so good. I haven't used the fax so I can't comment on that. Would have given it 5 stars but had some connectivity issues (new PC - Windows 10pro) and are resolved (for NOW). Quality is pretty good, not fantastic but good enough for a small office. For pictures, don't bother. You are still better off using a inkjet for those. The IP8700 is the best I've ever seen and used for pictures. Lot's of features and options on the MF743Cdw (most will never be used but nice to know they are there if needed). Just note that OEM replacement toner will cost as much as a new printer. @$500 a set to replace the toners it's not economical. Generics Will still run you about $120 for a set. NOTE: The toners that come with the printer are starter ones and not full ones. (for what they charge for this printer, it should have come with full toners.) This replaces my 12+ year old D340 canon (Great BLACK&WHITE LASER PRINTER) D340 still works great, just wanted to upgrade to a color option. Overall it seems good and will probably be a good workhorse for many years to come.

The printer is quick. The quality of black text is very good. But any colored image is pretty bad. I will never purchase a canon printer ever again. Finding zero positives with this particular printer. It is not easy to use or understand how to use. Horribly difficult to program and connect to computer, and cannot figure out how to connect with phone or tablet. Ink runs out extremely fast. We purchased in June of 2021 and already having maintenance issues such as ink splatter on copied & printed pages on both front and back sides in the colors blue, yellow, and magenta...... the list literally goes on forever!
Just don't waste your time or money with canon in general; HP all the way! I will never make this mistake again!

Decent printer with buggy firmware
This printer gives fine output, sips power on sleep, and has the appropriate configuration features for use in small to medium office settings. It does, however, have buggy firmware that has languished unfixed by Canon, though they are aware of the problems. Most notably the mDNS support (which Mac users would generally be best using has a bug whereby the printer continuously renames itself and can't be found by things that are configured to search for it by name. Specifically, when it wakes from sleep it broadcasts a message asking if the assigned printer name is already in use, it answers it's own query affirmatively, so then the printer renames itself so that there's not two printers with the same name (when, there's only one). It's a small thing, but the fact that Canon's known about it for years (it's discussed in their support forums) and hasn't bothered to fix such a trivial bug despite many reports really tells you how committed they are to the product.

Never buy this MF743
I owned & used printers for 30+ years. I am an engineer, never been so frustrated with any printer as this one. Spent days, trying to set it up. Wi-Fi (for numerous hours, Then I thought using USB might work. Not even. Unfortunately, 30 days passed, I can't return it.
Advise, Never think of buying this junk. I wish there is a negative rating (not just zero). One start is the minimum .

i can never print wirelessly
this product isnt good. I dont print that often, a dozen or so reports a year, taxes, and a few odds and ends.. I CAN NEVER GET IT TO PRINT THE FIRST TIME.
I can barely get it to print wirelessly, and 95% of the time have to connect to it with a USB cable.
if your intention is to print wirlessly, i would not recomend this product.

I truly truly regret buying this machine
I bought this printer last year, to use with a Mac. From the start, it has been nothing but trouble. Software issues. Connectivity issues. Hardware issues. I can't think of any piece of technology I have ever bought that was as much a lemon as this Canon printer. It was on a good sale at Staples. Money saved was, really, money thrown away.

DO NOT BUY - You WILL regret it!!
We purchased this printer back in early 2020. Since we bought it, we have had issues with the printer not responding to print commands because it is "offline." We used to fix the problem by deleting and reinstalling the driver-- that is, until today. The driver I downloaded from the official Canon website can't find the printer. SO, I AM DONE. I am done with this printer and will never--EVER--purchase another Canon printer again. The Canon Color Image Class MF743Cdw is an expensive piece of junk in a fancy-looking frame, and its ink is costly to boot! So my advice, save yourself some headaches and frustration and buy yourself something else; any other printer has to be better than this one. Take it from someone who has been let down by this printer over and over and over again.

Horrible. Buggy. Unreliable.
Coming off an HP that finally broke down after five years of heavy use, I decided to take a chance and go for the "Black Friday" special. Disaster. This has shoddy printing quality, constantly has to be "re-added" to the print manager (iMac and MBP, is really difficult to manage in settings and output, and frequently goes offline and needs restoring. Very disappointed and I will be tossing it after I get a year's use out of it. I actually loathe the thing.

Instruction manual a joke
We struggle and most times fail at finding any clues in the instruction materials online. Like right now, the document I'm trying to scan is light, I need to change setting to darken. ALL the manual says is "You can adjust the density of the scan if the text or images in a original are too light or dark." Ok, how?

Every time you want to print on a Mac you must reinstall the printer!
I have had this printer for two years now. All our computers are Apple Mac's. The printer and scanner constantly disconnect from the computer. I have to either remove and add the printer again, and again and again. Or sometimes turning the printer on and off works. The printer connection is very unstable. The latest software and drivers keep making it only worse.

Honestly this a bad printer, very difficult to set up and function. Super frustrating to use, it works when it wants too. I have to download and reinstall the software. Its not worth it!
When I print pages dots show up on the side, believe me I did everything to try to fix it and nothing works!

Great print for PC & Mac!
Printer easily connected wirelessly to my Mac, PC & iPhone with minimal effort. The two-sided scanning on a single pass is awesome.
I was a bit turned off by other reviews from Mac users however I decided to give it a try anyway and am glad I did. Everything worked seamlessly.

Windows 10 & MAC OSX User - IT Professional's Review
* Owned the MF743Cdw for more than 3 years
* Windows 10 Pro & MacOS X operating systems
* Wireless connection (Netgear Nighthawk R900 & TP-Link Archer AX11000 routers)
Pros
* Printing speed in color and black and white
* Price & value of the printer itself and consumables.
* Scanning & copying flexibility
* No Ink! (Toner)
Cons
* Yep, MAC software instability (details below)
* Footprint is a bit large for a small office
* Hardware glitches - sleep mode can cause undesirable behavior can arise once it wakes up
I have just over 1,800 pages on standard capacity toner cartridges and have about 60% left. Projected page count until empty looks like about 4,000 until I'll need to make another spend.
Configuration and WiFi setup via the LCD panel is easy and quick. It has lots of functions that I never thought anyone needed until I saw them, such as passport & ID card copy. All copy and scan functions can be accessed via the LCD panel. Checking consumables is also very easy. Of course once connected to the internet, a firmware update can be done with one push of a button as well.
Driver software, GUI and end-user experience
I have 29 years in IT, actively using advanced technologies. I will admit that my bias definitely leans toward MacOS as a much better user experience in general.
Windows 10 Pro end user experience
Driver setup for both the printer and scanner work as you'd expect - download the software from Canon and install as Administrator, go!
The MF Scan Utility is functional and works well, though it looks like a Windows NT or OS/2 Warp screen (yeah, I'm that old).
Printing is as you'd expect...it works!
MacOS X end user experience
MacOS finds the printer via Bonjour, installs and prints...no driver necessary...sorry Windows users. Scanning works great, with the Mac's better-looking user interface. HOWEVER, if you do download Canon's driver software for Mac and install the printer VIA IP address, the scanner function is not available. You're forced to use Bonjour. The Canon MF Scan Utility immediately says no scanner...follow the user guide for the scanner driver to add the scanner. I've never gotten it to work. Is that a problem? Sometimes. If you don't use the printer for a week or so and turn it on, it may have difficulty reconnecting and printing. NOTE: I use a fixed IP address for the MF743C...not DHCP so it's not changing IP addresses...the Mac just loses the printer for some reason. The fix: remove the printer and reinstall. That takes 40 seconds, but what a pain. This has been happening through a few firmware updates on the printer and many OS updates for Mac.
More unwanted behavior when the printer goes into sleep mode for a long time. Trying to scan after a week or so of non use may yield an error saying the scanner is in use or disconnected (both Windows 10 and MacOS). Rebooting everything doesn't fix it. The fix: and this is only for Windows...instead of trying to scan from the MF Scan Utility, go to the LCD display and scan to Windows. Boom...that frees up the 'in use' error & you may once again resume scanning from your MacOS or WIndows PC. One other con and I haven't tried to troubleshoot this is that you can't seem to scan to MacOS via the LCD screen...Windows only...sorry Mac users!
Overall I think this printer is a great workhorse and perfect for a small office or home office. A few fixed glitches mentioned would get this to 5 stars.

Nice, but expensive
Purchased from an online retailer. It does what I need really well. We purchased the optional high-capacity drawer. Unfortunately, this printer is extremely expensive to replace the toner cartridges. The originals from Canon will run you almost $100 over the price of the printer for regular. Getting all high-capacity cartridges is almost twice the cost of the printer itself. The factory replacements have been excellent. Generic ones, regardless of brand, are horrible. Those are not well made and will leak toner all over the place.

Worst Printer/ Scanner/ Fax ever created - Piece of trast
I purchased this printer 15 months ago from Best Buy. It has been nothing but trouble. I works about 1% of the time. Have to uninstall and reinstall daily. I spend at least 1 hour of my work day trying to get the printer to work. Never recognizes that a paper jam is cleared. Will only print 2 sided sporatically. Is impossible if remoted into another computer

Terrible Interface with MAC.
This is unfortunately my second printer. I returned the other hoping the upgrade would cancel out some of my issues, but it did not. I can't seem to keep my MacBook Pro connected to the darn thing. If I do get it connected, it tells me "computer not connected" when I try to scan. Beyond that, it's counter productive if I have to delete & then reinstall the driver each time I want to print. I hate that I'm this much money invested into a printer I never really wanted. All the HP's were sold out in the entire city so I didn't have much of a choice. Wish I could just replace with a more MAC compatible printer.

Horrible at connection to Mac iOS!
Do your research. This Canon series has a history of not connecting consistently to MacOS. I'm ready to pull my hair out. I have a MF743Cdw. I'm running a MacBook Pro iCore7 with a fresh install of iOS Monterey. It absolutely refuses to connect with the drivers and on the off chance I finally get them connected, I come in the next day and the connection is lost and the printer reads OFFLINE. This applies to a hardwire cable from the USB Port to the Printer AND trying to get this thing to talk wifi through all their directions. I've reinstalled the driver several times and then did every Mac soft/hard reset known to man.

Could not be more disappointed
You spend this amount of money and you expect a quality device. Definitely not my experience here. The most frustrating part is the simple device configuration and management. The interfaces (touch screen, Mac, web) are all simply terrible. It's like they are 20 years behind the times. This should be the easy stuff. Features are great...but they are impossible to use...and I'm an IT guy very, very comfortable and self sufficient in this space.

Don't expect to get the rated yield out of the cartridges
The printer comes with a standard 2,300 pages black cartridge and starter 1,200 color cartridges. We've printed just over 1,000 black pages and under 400 color pages and all cartridges need replacement. See the two photos of the printer page counter and the cartridges lifespan.

Massive pain in the butt
I couldn’t be more disappointed in a printer. It works but not without massive headaches. It drops wireless connection to devices all the time. Should be a simple fix but not. On hold for Canon reps for over an hour (multiple times), then another hour to go through and reconfigure the issues. So complicated, I couldn’t remember the next time it happened and had to start over with the long wait time etc. The user screen has a long way to go, you can only touch it a certain way, the first iPhone was better. Also, the toner cartridges DON’T last!!

Great Home Office Machine
I have had this printer for about a year now. We're pretty light users, so it only has 1000 pages on it. In that time, it's been solid. Print quality is excellent - even photos are surprisingly good for a color laser. Consumable costs aren't out of line for the price point of this machine, but knowing what kind of margins there are on those they're still frustrating.
It seems as though most negative reviews are from Mac users and are related to an unreliable connection to those devices. I have PCs, so I'm not sure it's the same issue I saw in the beginning, but I too would lose connection to the printer regularly. It turns out there's a Wireless LAN Power Save mode that causes this. I disabled that mode and it's been 100% reliable ever since.

Worst printer on the market
Nothing on this printer works the way it should. I spend more hours each day trying to get it to work than actually working. Wish I had unboxed it within the return window. You know a printer has to be bad (total garbage) if Sam's Club and Costco discontinue sales due to customer complaints and returns. Never scans. None of the fancy features work. Have to uninstall printer weekly and reinstall. Excessive toner use. Have to replace all toner cartridges minimum of 3 times a yearGARBAGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really sad when the cost of 4 new toner cartridges is more than the original cost of the machine.

Perfection
I was a little intimidated by the size having been used to an inkjet desk printer but for my home office and teleworking I really wanted a laser, color, all in one. This more than fits the bill and nothing to be intimidated by. Wireless OR USB plug in (but you can't do both!, easy set up, not noisy at all, touchscreen is very user friendly, registration and carepak super simple to set up. BTW this is my SECOND Canon (yes...the inkjet was a Canon as well). After looking at other color laser printer all in ones, Canon had the best features, the best warranty, and I know from past experience the best image quality. So far so awesome.

Does not work with Macs
Bought this a few months ago. It worked fine for about 2-3 months. I then saw a firmware upgrade available and then upgraded the firmware. Ever since then, it's been nothing but headaches... Was told by Canon support NOT to use the Airprint driver on my Mac... okaaaaayyyyy... So, I downloaded the Canon driver, installed that and worked fine after install. Now, every day, or every other day, some of my Macs (7 in the house does not see the printer. I will them remove the printer and re-add (using the Canon software/driver). When viewing the printer status, I see it go online/offline/online intermittently. My ipads will sometimes see the Airprint Canon printer and sometimes not. I have to turn off the printer and turn it back on. Sometimes, that doesn't always work. Yesterday, I called Canon support (2nd time on this issue) and waited 45 mins before I got to someone. Spent another 45 mins with two reps. Only to be told that it's my router not sending the correct printer status and to contact the router manufacturer... Really? I'm in IT and I know nonsense when I hear it... Doesn't make sense when my HP printer that is hardwired (just like the Canon) to the same router, never goes offline and never have a problem printing to it. I'm trying to set a static IP address as the rep suggested to see if that resolves the issues. Again, that's a workaround. I should be able to use a DHCP provided IP address. Do a google search on Canon imageclass mac connection problems and you'll be able to see the same issues people are having with this. Wish I would have seen these issues before installing new high yield toner cartridges... As soon as I burn through those (after the remove printer/re-add printer to print cycles I'll have to go through), I'm gonna dump this and stick with an HP AIO.
