Ups and Downs
Prints and scans nicely. The non-back lit display is difficult to read. (Poor choice by Canon in not using the standard back-lit easy to read display, what were they thinking.)

Completely unreliable
I call it "the ex-wife:" does what it wants, and spends all your money. It doesn't respond to any command - single sided you say? Forget it! Even if you have set it up on all the printer dialogs. The ink clogs very easily, so you will find yourself flushing the ink constantly, which costs money. It doesn't obey which tray to use, and if you change the paper in the back, it will ask you incessantly about the kind of paper in the rear feeder. The worst printer ever!

Canon - NEVER AGAIN!!
I bought this G7000 printer maybe a year ago. What a piece of junk!!!! This printer alone will cause me to NEVER buy Canon again. I have had several problems with the printer and nothing is easy or intuitive. The printer would not recognize the printer tray. It would only print from the manual feed back door. It took forever to figure that out. The 594-page online manual is too cumbersome to be helpful. I have had several other problems and was able to fix some, but every problem took a lot more effort than it should have. I got most answers from You Tube and few to none from the user manual or Canon support. Today, it told me the "paper abrasion preventive function' is enabled. I am still not sure what that is or how it got enabled, but there went another 20 minutes of wasted time.
My millennial kids had problems linking the printer to their laptops when they came home. I do not remember anybody ever having a problem connecting to the several different HP printers I have owned. If the millenials can't figure it out, it is not me!
i cannot say why, but I have always had HP printers. I hate wasting money, but I am tempted to throw this piece of crap away and buy an HP. At least I know it will work and it will be intuitive when things go wrong.
Canon - NEVER AGAIN!!!

Terrible
I am sorry I did not read all the bad reviews of this printer before I bought. It cost a small fortune and stopped working within 6 months . I could never get a hold of a representative to deal with the warranty. No result and now I have a printer that will not work. I tried all the fixes recommended online to no avail. I have not even used half the ink! Canon should refund everyone that bought this printer- there is obviously a fault with its production.

I've had this printer for a few years now. It prints text just fine but photo quality is terrible, blacks look grey and are often blotchy with magenta. I have done everything i can think of to make it work but its simply just not good.

Save your money
I wish I had never purchased this product.
I thought this was going to be the last for-home-use-printer I'd ever have to purchase, given how robust the salesperson claimed this machine to be. Combinations of nozzle checks, deep cleanings, head alignments and just pure luck have yielded maybe 200 usable pages of print over 4 years of ownership. Only one time during my warranty was I able to actually speak to a person who provided guidance that helped temporarily resurrect this albatross. But every time it has broken down since, I have had to rely on 3rd party resources, none of which ended up with an enduring solution.
My last best option is to replace the print head and, of course, those can't be found anywhere.
The only way left to get any satisfaction out of this printer is to take it out to a field, play the Ghetto Boys and recreate the scene from that movie "Office Space".

Don't buy Pixma G7020
Pretty terrible. I bought this and by 3000 copies it was "clogged" and couldn't print any longer. Unfortunately I had forgotten to buy an extended warranty, but even still, this wasn't 1/2way through it's original ink when it died. I ran through all of the cleaning regularly, I changed inks, I called Canon (who was no help at all). The print quality was never great for photos or paper, but I expected that. I did NOT expect this printer to die within 1.5 years of it's purchase

Basically trash after 13 months
Great printer at first, but then I came to discover that the printer cannot be left closed and inactive for prolonged periods of time. This causes ink drying up in thin plastic tubes in the printer as well as in and around the printer head.
The printer has some pre-built functions that try to fix clogging and ink drying issues. The main function that does the job is "Ink Flush". This wastes lots of ink and may temporarily resolve the issue. The problem is that the ink flush function dump the ink into the cavity of the printer floor that are collected by sponges. There is a counter of how many times the ink was flushed and once the counter hits a certain value, you get the infamous "5B00" error, which prevents you from using your printer.
Canon does not allow you to reset this counter or easily clear out the ink collecting sponges. There is a tool you can BUY from sketchy websites but canon doesn't provide it. If you call them, they will ask you when you purchased the device (my warranty expired 1 month ago!) They will offer service which costs as much as a new printer and if you are not interested, they offer a new model at a discount.

was great, 3 mo later can't connect to wifi reliably, support hidden
loved the printer when I first got it. Set up was easy. 3 mo later spouse set up her phone and my have changed a setting inadvertently but the crux of the matter is I can't figure out how to fix. Read a static IP may be needed, but this is in the community and not with Canon's instructions. Their WiFi set up from the printer is a joke. You can't enter a password without guessing how to show it, back up and show what's in it, etc. One would think, even with a non back lit small screen, that you could expect no less than what the LCD TV market has done for the last 20 yrs .. an easy but cumbersome and easy to use scroll menu - Not Canon ... just a joke.
I am so frustrated partially as support is no-where, Canon seems to have tossed support to the community, which is ok but how about support your own product for a year? At least my experience was not finding support.
It's not a surprise this has 3.5 stars by 20% of the reviewers and if considering the lowest is 1 ... what's this really mean - I wonder why so many people are disappointed? I'm also not surprised it's often found typically (nearly) 1/2 off on sale.
So, I have a printer that was pretty nice but it has WiFi connection issues that hasn't an easy find on Canon's site, support that can't be found (at least when I looked), 3-4 months new, have to hope community support can help (pretty good cost savings if some secret Canon in house cost savings), but IF connecting, worked pretty great.
I'm overly disappointed in Canon.
I'm equally disappointed in myself. I've had 4-5 Canon printers after using HP. The printers have generally been decent, my last one the MG8220 was bought partly to scan and print photos from negatives. This one and my earlier 5200 had reliable WiFi, easily set up password ... so I thought this 7020 would ..WRONG.
But my biggest disappointment comes from knowing my last two printers died in what I think was a bit premature for life. I swore I'd move another brand but this 7020 had all the desired features and given on sale, $50 to $100 less than comparable competitor products - I buckled and bought. I should have paid the extra.
Part of my disappointment is that I hadn't noted that 20% disliked this product .. or maybe numbers grew since I bought it.
IMO, Canon hasn't mind its printers filling a land fill.
Used Canon for years .. this one will likely be the last. Save yourself grief, 20% of reviewers can't all be that wrong.
One OEM was sued for Ink cartridge lockdowns .. maybe Canon would benefit by taking some greater ownership than I experience for the connection issues on this unit ???? Everyone makes a mistake on occasion, just wish Canon offered support that I could use and resolve issues their printer seems to be giving me.

Paper tray feeder stopped working
It worked great for about a year and then: 1. it stopped allowing me to scan wirelessly. It worked intermittently, then just stopped. 2. The paper transport for the main tray started jamming and eating paper. It's basically ususable now. I can still print from the rear tray, but I am already seeking a replacement. Purchased October 2022. Shouldn't this still be working for us? Guess not, sorry Canon. Bad product.

Way Cost effective
I saw the average 3 star reviews and was shocked. I have had my Canon G7020 for years and I use the printer all the time. I print stanard black and white and the first bottle of black last 3-4 years, I can't even remember, I am just now ordering colored ink. I have saved tons of money. Can you duplicate photos well? Not well enough to frame. I use it for marketing, logos, charts etc. It is very adequate. Use this for everyday use, and get a low volume, I resolution, for specific pictures. the cost savings will pay for the other printer.

Worth every penny
I bought this AIO to replace another older HP unit. The first thing that jumped out at me and the reason I bought it was because of the ink bottles versus having to buy cartridges. I have already used it to print some photos and using photo paper, they came out just like they do from the store. I also printed some other stuff and it's as good as professionally printed stock. If you're looking for a very cost effective solution to print your own photos or even for general printing, you most definitely won't regret buying this unit. The only flaw I have found with it in the past month I've owned it, is that for some crazy reason, Canon decided not to have a backlight for the display. That aside, this machine is worth every penny.

Great printer, worth every penny
This is the easiest printer set up I've had in 20 years. I took my time and followed directions and had no problems at all. When we tried to print our first large document page 40 of 448 wouldn't print. I blamed the printer, reinstalled the software and it still wouldn't print. It turned out the page was bad, when we skipped to page 41 it printed all the rest without a problem so don't always blame the printer like we did. My only complaint and I don't necessarily think it is the printers fault is our computers show it dropping wifi when it shows as still connected. After a period of inactivity it needs to be reconnected to our network but I think it is more the windows operating system or router rather than the printer because we have had the same problem with our last few printers and they were not all Canon..
Even after our large print job, the ink hasn't gone down much while I'm sure I would have had to replace the complete set of 5 cartridges at least once and probably twice in our previous printer, one time would have been more than a third of what we spent on this printer.

Worth it
>printer a bit slow
>can conveniently print photos and documents via wifi from phone, camera, or computer
>has fax
>no double sided scanning but still convenient. You can turn the paper over to scan both sides. There is a good scanning app that comes with the download package which allows u to rotate and adjust your scans easily, redo them if 1 turns out bad
> it DOES have 2 sided printing
>does NOT have 2 sided copying
>it does save a lot of ink
>it boasts about its many ink bottles but the photo quality isnt super amazing in my opinion. It really tones down the colors and also seems to print lower contrast than how it shows up electronically. Raising the photo contrast resolves that issue but not the washed out color issue. It still more convenient than getting prints done at the drug store in my opinion so i love it
>when you take off internal packing tape, it will detach a plastic piece from the inside. Do NOT re attach this piece. Its meant to come out and u will receive error if u put it back in.
>setup videos offered by canon are bad. I had to use a youtube video someone made and was still not great.
>overall i love the ink saving and wifi capabilities so 5 stars

I need features of wireless, duplexing, printing cardstock, ink bottle
I purchased G7020 4 1/2 years ago and it printed great copies. I have printed 44,000 copies over this period. Printer worked great for first two years. I had a few paper jams that I cleared. Over the past year, I had to perform several cleaning the print heads and rollers. I had several more paper jams which I cleared. Then last week, I was printing card stock 65 weigh from the rear tray and it jammed by pulling five sheets. I opened rear door and duplex roller. I tried pulling paper and it did not move. I raise up the print head holder to ease off the pressure. I pulled out paper. Now the printer does recognize the print heads with error code 1472. I followed the error code instructions 6 or 7 times and it did not fix the error. Somehow I need to reset the printer. My son will reload the drivers and if it does not work, I will purchase another G7020.

I haven't had the printer (Canon G7020 long enough to evaluate it, but every other Canon product I've used has been highly satisfactory: I marked the one down fro m stars because of the lack of good, easy-to-follow setup directions. I'm not a total novice about computers etc., but after spending much of a couple days on it I haven't succeeded in setting up all the features I want to use. When the enclosed Quick Start manual plus the online manual didn't do it for me I thought I'd talk with a Canon rep, but I couldn't find a way to make contact.

Best Price I Could Find
I bought this printer a couple of months or so ago. I like most all the features and it works well for home needs. It is a bit slower than others out there so if you print a lot and want faster speeds this one might not be for you. When printing using the duplex feature there is a significant pause when the machine turns each sheet over. Also, if you want an input port such as a USB or card slot on your printer this one doesn't have them. You must go through your computer. This is the only feature I miss from my previous unit. I really like the Eco Tanks. The actual supply is readily visible just by looking at the front and it seems to sip ink rather than gulp it. I recommend it.

Great Printer!!
First, it is an extraordinary change from a printer with ink cartridges. Can’t imagine ever going back to that approach. We’ve printed hundreds of pages, both black and color, and the fountains don’t even appear to have been drained a fraction. Also, and this is important to us, 1 we can print on 8.5 x 14; 2) We can copy multi-page documents through the automatic feeder; 3) we can feed photo paper through the back feeder (yes, three ways to feed paper!); and 4) the ink refill bottles are cheap!!. Just a relief to have this printer and not have the cost of expensive cartridges!! And did I mention the Canon app for printing, and the small footprint of the printer!

Great Printer - One Big Flaw
After owning a Canon PIXMA 420 for many years with no problems, she unfortunately packed up and moved on to the graveyard of printers. I chose another Canon printer to replace her. The Canon PIXMA G7020 was relatively easy to set up. I have a direct USB connection to my PC and WIFI enabled for Airprint from my mobile devices. The print speed and quality are just what I was looking for. So, all is great except the tiny little display screen which does not light up. I hear beep, grab my smartphone, turn on the flashlight and hold it to the display so I can read the screen. I am absolutely miffed how Canon could have got the display interface on such a great printer so wrong.

GREAT functions and cost savings, but a few imperfections. 4.5/5 stars
Great mechanics and printing. Love the inexpensive load and forget ink tanks. Very economical. Only have a few complaints: 1 the VERY small read out screen is not illuminated and almost impossible to read without maneuvering around to get light on it. That is the biggest complaint. 2) Setup for WiFi that came in the instructions does NOT work. Had to call tech support and she had me download the phone ap first as a way to force the printer to find my WiFi network. My modem/wireless router is a foot from my printer with a strong signal and wifi setup still could not find it using the "easy" network set up that comes in instructions. 3) Scanning doesn't work well from the little microscreen on the machine so plan on always running scans from your computer Canon software which installs with the Canon print drivers. Software is great with the printer which is the fastest way to set your scan preferences if scanning more than a single page. 4) the fold out printer console collapses if you use much force to tap the menu selection buttons. Not a big deal but inconvenient as I'm inputting my selection and the ratchet hinge collapses down from force of my selecting finger. BUT--these are minor issues overall since the key issues of quality and cost make up for these minor imperfections. The only one of my complaints that is really irksome is #1, the dark .5 X1.5 inch message screen on the computer. Even if it illuminated it would be much nicer.

The quality is not worth the money. You need a flashlight to view the tiny display screen. It turns itself off instead of hibernating and waiting on a notification to print. A lot of the times have to turn it back on to print. I'm glad that it prints borderless, and uses ink tanks instead of cartridges. Overall it's klunky to use and prone to error messages. And not worth even the sale price.

Slow to start printing, terrible menu, bad app
This printer is TERRIBLY slow to begin printing. You can wait up to 2 minutes between sending a job to the printer before it begins to print. In the meantime, there is no indication that anything is happening leaving you to wonder if the job has been successfully submitted or if there has been some sort of communications problem. Also the application that installs on the PC is extremely limited in what it can do or what it can tell you about the status of the printer or its configuration. Very few configuration settings can be accessed directly from the front panel, and even if you could the display is so small and poor that you are left guessing how to set them correctly. Furthermore, not all the settings are accessible at all times. It depends on the 'state' the printer is in to get access to some of the settings. For example, setting what paper is used in which location (the cassette or the rear tray cannot be accessed unless paper is in the corresponding tray. And the printer seems to get frequently confused as to which tray you wish to use, and if the printer decides you wanted to use the rear tray you cannot proceed with any other jobs until you stick a piece of paper in the rear tray and allow the printer to finish. In other words, there is no way to cancel a print job. Overall a terrible and frustrating experience.

User friendly?
Pros:
1: The mega tank ink feature best idea your Canon designers came up with. Cudos to them on that.
Cons:
1: The user display on the G7020 not so user friendly as it is too small, too dark and not backlit. Flash light required but not supplied.
2. The user control panel is moveable up and down but it won't operate in the completely down position when the printer has to be up on top of a computer hutch if this is the only spot for a person to put it and for short people this won't work as you can not see the display panel. Ladder is required but not supplied.
3. The user manual not supplied out of the box because surprise when you purchase this printer there is no where on the box that you will have to print it out yourself and depending on what computer you are using the Mac manual is over 400+ pages and does not print out from front to back and the same is with the manual for the Windows manual only this one is over 500+ pages and also does not print from front to back. Paper is required but not supplied.
4. The printer itself does not seem to be able to make up its mind where it wants to get its paper from when printing weather it be the top load or the bottom tray. As in printing the manual it took some from the top and then some from the bottom? That was messed up as I was not prepared for the printer to ask me to put paper in the top when I started to print this manual. The top paper load tray is to flemsy and wants to take up more space than you might be prepared for when finding a place to sit the printer so be prepared to give it a lot of stretch out space.
5. I digress so in final.
There are more issues to list but that list is very long so in saying the only great feature is the megatank ink that's wonderful. I purchased this on a monthly payment and now have to deal with it and that is going to involve alot of reading from a manual that only printed on one side of the paper. I have been a long time user of Canon and had orginally switched from Epson then to Kodak and then to Canon in the begining and had the Canon Pixma MX410 that was very user friendly but had to keep purchasing ink cartridges that got expensive so the idea of mega ink was appealing. Canon did great on that idea but I'm not sure if anyone there reviewed the ease of user interaction with this mega printer. I did expect a better experience Canon

Great printer for the home and for the price
This is my first week using my new PIXMA G7020 Mega Tank and I think it is perfect for my needs. This replaced my old Epson WF that finally clogged up and once I saw you can actually order and replace printheads I was sold as well as having the ability to add ink. This is exactly what I wanted and also found it on sale with a price match. I could not be happier. Yes the display is not the best somewhat hard to read and printing starts a bit slow but for me this is all I need at home. I use it for limited printing, some documents or a family photo. I have not been able to test the fax but scan and print quality are very clear, even printed a few photos which came out better than I had expected. So for me it has all the functions I need and great price as well as user replaceable printheads and is the perfect printer. Hopefully it will last many years.

A nice printer, but....
The text prints are great. No issues there. Setup was easy. Photos so far are not as expected but that may be my own learning curve. My issues with this printer, which was purchased because of the promise of dramatically lowered ink costs, are (1 dim, unlit dot-matrix display [[looks like 15 yr old technology-others units have bright color LCD screens] and (2) flimsy construction...lots of plastic, the tilt-out control panel isn't rigid enough to withstand even gentle finger pressure while using the buttons without flipping down. But again, all the technical operation aspects for business prints and scans have been fine.

This printer is very low quality and it very difficult to set up. There are virtually no instructions and you can't even google for information. Go with an Epson or HP. Not that Canon is not even allowing Amazon users to rate this...there is a reason for that.

Happy Homeschool Family from
Great printing and ink usage, decent speed, archaic operation
This printer is really affordable for a megaink printer and its printouts and ink usage are far above what my family previously used. My wife homeschools our two daughters and does a lot of printing for their cirriculum and for fun projects, especially now that they are at home most of the week. It was a bit difficult to set up, since a lot of the setup is handled through the small monochrome LCD on the front of the printer. My wife had given up on it originally and wanted to return the printer, since it kept hanging up at a certain point in the install. We were finally able to figure out the issue and got it working after uninstalling all the drivers and restarting and are happy with the printer now.
If they added a better LCD panel and cleaned up the install a bit (ie, make it possible to run the install completely from your computer instead of having to go back and forth between the units) this printer would rank a 5 star. Print speed increase would be a plus too, but at $100 less than competitive units, it is definitely a great option and would recommend it.

This upgrade printer system has wowed our family right out of the box. It was not difficult to set up, install, and begin using very quickly. The quality of prints of documents and photos has been quite good, so far. We have a lot of projects getting lined up for it to undertake in the near future. Expecting the large ink reservoirs to carry us immensely further then our old printer's little cartridges. Good riddance. This has been a good investment, so far.

Prints Great--- Needs Light to See LCD Screen
I have found this to be a useful printer for all my printing needs.
My one and only complaint is that the LCD screen is not viewable. I need to keep a flashlight next to my printer to use to view the screen. Maybe Canon could supply a small flashlight on a lanyard with the printer. My review would then be a 5 star review.

Frustrating
I just recently bought this printer, like a week ago. Setup went pretty smoothly and it seems to print rather nicely. However I can't seem to get the scan to work, which I use a lot for my business. This says it is capable of wireless scanning, but whenever I try to scan a document, the only option I get is to save it to a local USB. This won't work for me, but what makes it worse is that every time I do try to scan it throws the printer offline. Which in order to get the printer back online I have to either restart my computer or remove the device and then add it back. This is highly inconvenient and not practical at all! I have looked all over online for more information on how to avoid this, but there is no information on this printer other than what canon provides. This printer does not come with a users manual either. I will be looking to return this all-in-one printer. I would have given it a zero star except that I like that it has ink tanks vs. the cartridges and when it is working it prints very nicely.

Amazing Quality Printer
Printing is impressive for B/W as well as color on letter paper. Using glossy photo paper is also crisp and impressive. The ink refill is outstanding and I can see I will save a lot. I would imagine it can pay for itself in a year compared to my old ink cartridge printer. And the all in one print, scan and more is very handy. The set-up was a bit tasking with the wifi but I'm not all that skilled at setting things up. Using the online instructions wasn't as clear as it might be but in short order, I was up and running. It's a great investment.

Acceptable Printing with Very Good Features
This multi-function printer has enough features to be considered a good buy. It's ink tanks are great at saving money because of their capacities and the low price of replacement inks. The quality of the printing and copying for letters and documents is excellent. On the other hand, the quality of graphics and photographs is only fair to good. The scanner works very well, with satisfactory speed. Printing speed for material sent from a computer is good, although my previous (Canon Pixma MX870 was much faster. Copying speed is very good for one-sided documents (about 5 seconds) but a two-sided document took 58 seconds to complete, with a sizeable stoppage time between printing the front and the back. I do not use the fax feature so I cannot comment on that aspect. The features that are very convenient are the remote on (turning on the printer by simply sending a document from a computer), the two-sided printing/copying, and the automatic document feeder. While the printer's LED screen is very small (2 inches by 1/2 inch), the printer utility software lets you do much of its setting from your computer and thus bypass having to use the screen. Although the downloaded printer manual is 594 pages long, most of each page is blank and the manual is easy to navigate to find what you are looking for. One small annoyance is the printer head cleaning/diagnostics, that the printer goes through usually on start-up and occasionally while idle, is noisy and long (taking a good 30 seconds before being ready to print). In summary, the overall quality of the printing production was better for my old Canon printer, but the cost of ink was over $300 per year for me; this Canon Pixma G7020's ink supply should cost much less, with quality that is acceptable to me. I feel that the 7020 has been a good decision for me.

It was very easy to set up. I unpacked the box it came in, removed all the safety tape that holds the parts steady during transport. I plugged it in and turned the machine on. It went through the setup and test mode, while I unpacked the ink tanks. I filled the tanks, again it self tested and when it was finished, I printed a test page. Everything was ok, so I then checked the wireless access with my phone and printed an email. I also did the same for my desktop, which was directly plugged in to the machine and it worked perfectly. So far everyone in the household has used this printer with no issues whatsoever. The only reason for the four stars is that it has only been online for a couple of weeks. If it continues as it started, I would give it 5plus stars. The extra large ink tanks were a big seller for me, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the actual size. Get one if you are a small business or just need a decent printer. I did.

Canon Pixma G7020 Printer
I work in IT and have used a great many home office printers since the invention of the PC. I have used many brand names, but mostly HP. The G7020 is by far the best home office printer I have ever used. By far. I sometimes bought 3 printers at a time from the wholesalers because the cost of the printers were less than the cost of the print cartridges that came with them. I will never go back to cartridges. Any printer that goes the distance with 7,000+ Prints before a refill gets a 5-star rating from me. That said, I find it frustrating to keep installing the software and establishing the connection settings every time I sit down to use my computer. I lay hope on the fact that the issue is most likely directly tied to my raw lack of understanding of the printer’s mechanics.

Great printer easy to set up love it
I am completely satisfied with this printer, printed 500 pages ink barely moved, also duel
printing from rear or cassette is a plus, scan, copy , fax, photos, the fact that it came with
3 bottles of black ink, and three colors , is a plus .
also there are only 4 tanks used in total for this printer, another factor which know one seems to see is that the " printer heads are replaceable they can be pulled out and
purchased for new ones thru cannon , as a posed to throwing away your printer because
the heads went bad, aslo the tanks are air tight.this has saved me alot of money for ink
I can't say enough about this printer.

Have to use a flash light to read. 2. I can't believe this printer is sold without any manual available even online. Most frustrating. In spite of this it prints well

Great printer, but the scanner needs work.
I am really enjoying this new printer, that replaced a color laser jet. The photo prints are amazing. The duplex print feature is a real plus. I'm still working on the scanner features which I have not mastered yet. The copy feature works pretty well.

Canon has excellent printers
I hate to disagree with the person who wrote the other review but you don't give a product a 1 star simply because it doesn't have the features you want. If he wanted a printer that would print to a disk he should have shopped for one. If the printer doesn't perform well or has functionality problems is when you give it low ratings. Canon has the best printers.

Super impressed with its utility. Savings on ink have already been very substantial. On the flip side, color appears duller when compared with Canon MX920 which uses ink cartridges.

Following the disk that comes with the printer, setup is easy...was done in no-time...saw coplaints in reviews about the "auto Power Off"...this can be set using the ij printer assistant tool...here you can set how long the printer is on for and you can enable "auto power ON"....just print and it send a signal to printer to turn on and print....great printer

The WORST Printer!!
I bought this printer thinking it would be better than the HP I was replacing. I've seen good things about printers with Eco tanks, so I gave this one a shot. I am beyond frustrated with this printer. It takes forever for a single page to print and it's not even a full color page. I constantly get error messages on my computer. Payroll processing now takes me all day, because printing takes SO long.

Horrible! Not worth the money! Save yourself. It's too late for me.
I purchased this printer as a multifunction device about a year ago. I waited this long to review the product so I could judge the product on the functionality of the product and not new user error. I chose this model because I wanted to use it for everyday printing as well as printing high quality photos for gifts and scrapbooking. I loved the wireless print feature as I thought I could print from all of the computers in our home and when away with the printing app. This printer has miserably failed on every point. I expected high quality photo printing. I purchased the Canon photo paper and changed the setting to high quality. The results looked like a 10 year old faded, fuzzy photo. Nothing like what I would expect from an expensive photo quality printer. The time it takes to print both photos and documents is painfully slow. I could forgive the slow print time for a spectacular result. The quality reminds me of the old dot printers. Additionally, I have to manually turn the printer on when I want to use the remote print feature. If I have to walk up to my printer to print a document wirelessly from my phone, I may as well print the document from my computer sitting next to the printer. It's kind of pointless to offer a remote printing feature if someone has to sit next to the device to turn it on. Because I am incredibly stubborn and refuse to give up, I keep trying to get the app to sync and print. I have to re-enter my modem password every single time I use remote print. The printer will not remember it. It takes about 30-45 minutes per document. I now surrender to the uselessness and low quality of this device. This printer replaced my incredible Brother printer and I could not have more buyers remorse. Save yourself. Learn from my mistakes and run- do not walk- away from buying this printer.

Love this printer!
I have had this printer for 6 months and have had no problems with it. Print quality is very good. I print and scan docs with this on a daily basis, and I am glad that I upgraded to this printer. The ink tanks are all still over 3/4 full. I would have had to buy several ink cartridges with my old printer at this point. Well worth the upgrade!

Is not a duplex scanner as described
This machine does not perform a function important to me -- and I blame it on an error in the Canon web site describing the product which says it is a duplex machine. It isn't - the scans are one-side only and copy has to be manually turned over to complete the scan. That's a hardship when scanning a lot of two sided material. Other functions work well. Good print quality and a large ink tank with ink levels very visible without having to open the machine and inspect indivdual cartridges

The Worst Printer I've Had
Canon has always been my favorite camera/printer brand. I am broken hearted to have that confidence shattered. I have had nothing but trouble with this printer and the software that comes with it is not user friendly (therefore making this printer Not User Friendly and does not include trouble shooting. Canon asks that we do not mention other companies, so I will only say that my past printers, Canon printers included, have always been simple and straight forward for the average consumer to use. The scanning software, which I had to hunt down, looks like something from 20 years ago, literally. However, the absolute worst thing about this printer is that when I try to use it to print a document (usually from MS Office) it only works 1:20 times. Either I must turn the printer on/off or unplug, or I have to use the back paper feeder (why, I don't know), or it's their stupid (I'm sorry, but I can't think of any better way to put it) rule that the front panel must be "open", etc.., to get the printer to work! Now it is printing very poor pictures and no text at all! I need this document today! Now!
Please, save yourself the trouble and Don't Buy This Printer!!

I wanted a mega tank printer for awhile, so after research i chose The PIXMA G7020, I don't know if I will use the FAX but it is a nice feature to have.I Have a PIXMA MG7120 which I plan to keep as it has features that I use and it is an awesome printer, and finally my PRO=100 for the larger projects. I trust Canon an s far all the products are great.
The only thing with the PIXMA G7020 is the screen is not back lit and for a senior it is a little hard to see. and working through the menus lets you see all the features.

There are several things I do not like about this printer. 1. There is no light in the instruction window making it impossible to see without getting a flash light and holding it there to light up the area. 2. The writing in the instruction box is very small further adding to the problem of not being able to read the instructions. 3. There was no instruction manual that came with the machine. 4. The instructions that do display are confusing. 5. The machine only holds 20 pages that can fax at one time. 6. There is no hook indicator button. 7. The machine will default to the rear paper tray on its on and keep stopping in the middle of your task.

Good printer but the wifi networking was rough
The printer itself works well and I like the ink bottles and transparent ink reservoirs on the front--definitely better than overpriced cartridges that dry out!
Networking the printer was quite painful, as none of the "automated" wifi connection programs worked, and I had to connect to the wifi using the manual setup which entailed a slow and painful process of using the keypad and its modifier keys for a long wifi password with various upper and lowercase letters and numbers and symbols.
The worst part was that the setup process had an option to connect to "multiple wifi routers" but in reality it can only connect to one at a time, and you have to enter the password and go through the manual process to connect each time you switch routers. This was an incredibly frustrating part of the setup as we have two wifi routers here, with different computers and phones using them, and it took me forever to figure out why only certain devices could connect to the printer when it was connected to one router or another. The fact that the printer can only connect to one router at a time was not explained anywhere in the connection documentation or the printer's front-panel display or the website documentation. The printer's front-panel display makes it look like it can connect to more than one router but it really can't!

Great Printer
I purchased the Pixma G7020 printer because it is a Canon product and because it is a wireless MegaTank printer. The ink doesn’t cost hundreds of dollars and no one is counting the number of pages i print. The set up manual is written clearly and i like the fact that the print heads are easy to install / replace in the event of future issues. It’s not the fastest printer in the world but for home office use it’s perfect. The installation disks worked perfectly and i use the printer with my computer and Apple I-pad. I purchased a second G7020 for my sister and would recommend it without any reservations.

Replaceed my old MX922 printer
I purchased this printer to replace an MX922 that had the printhead go bad. Could not be cleaned, tried twice with no luck. I was hesitant to purchase the g7020 due to the small operator display but decided the ink tanks outweighed the small operator panel. As it turns out, most of my printing is from the computer or cell phones, so the display was only used for printer setup. The g7020 is quite a bit smaller than the 922, and quieter. However, in general it is not as fast as the 922, but does not have the 922 delays in printing that could be up to a minute or longer. The only feature the 922 had that is not on the g7020 is duplex scanning. However, this can be done on a sheet by sheet basis using the 2 sided scan option, scanning each side separately onto a single duplex sheet. Scanning is slower then the 922, but still beats feeding sheets one at a time on a flatbed.
Setup was fast Easy print head installation and ink installation. No spills at all. No issues at all connecting to my WIFI, and our phones worked right away with the printer. Photos look just as good as what we got from the 922.
My only concern is how long it will take for the ink absorber to fill. But not too concerned, as there are YouTube videos showing how to clean/replace them. Wish this had a maintenance box, but I guess you cannot have everything.
Purchased at the lowest on sale price directly from Canon, and took advantage of their additional upgrade discount for replacing older printers.

Poor Quality
I have been using this printer for 3 months. I purchased it new from Best Buy. We own a small trucking business and I need to scan tickets/invoices weekly and email scans to brokers. The scanned images are dull and faded. I am not able to scan and walk away to work on something else because it jams and I will come back to an incomplete task with an error code. Not sometimes - but every single time. This printer requires you to stand there and help feed each sheet individually. It is not fully compatible with my MAC. Finally, I have had problems with the settings staying put - it tells me that my paper size is incorrect when no changes have been made to the paper since the last print that ran through successfully.

Makes me want to scream!
The printer works well but there are some real problems...
The driver for mac computers does not allow the user to choose the paper source; the printer makes its own choice. This might be predictable if there was only one computer using the printer (we have 3), or if only one application is used to generate a print file, but of course, there are several on each computer, so one has to put the same paper in both trays to not waste paper and ink (we use recycled paper and good paper depending on need). Others have indicated this problem, and there is no solution on the Canon pages.
Second, I had to replace the printer at my own cost because I tipped it while looking for a paper jam, and after figuring out that I didn't need to tip it to clear the jam (just open the door on the back), a yellow light came on with an error code I did not record. Turning it off and on meant that the error code was lost, and a yellow error light came on and just stayed on with no message. Talking with Canon support indicated that there was no solution to this problem.
The printer makes me want to scream!

If you only occasionally print, this is not the printer for you
I bought this based on positive reviews and because of the recyclability of the ink containers. It printed great at first but our household does not print that often. This led the nozzle to gum up and despite repeated cleanings, deep cleanings, etc. the printer has become functionally useless. I need to do a moderately sized print job for my work last year and literally could not get the thing to print properly so I had to take my job to a copy center. I have used more ink performing cleaning and maintenance than I actually have printing things. Do not buy this printer unless you plan on using it every day.

Great All-In-One with some annoying caveats
A full-functioned All-In-One which takes advantage of Canon's new MegaTank cartridge less system. While it works quite well, there are some annoying caveats: 1) when you attempt to print from the printer, for some reason it defaults to the rear tray even if the main tray is full of paper, and you will get a message that the printer needs paper-for this reason we just keep about 20 pages loaded in the rear tray (when you print from your mobile device, it does give you the option to select which tray you are printing from, so this does mitigate that issue, but it's an annoyance that it doesn't just default to the main tray that is able to hold the most paper); 2) the printer defaults to an auto-shuttoff setting, which is a great energy saving feature, but if you forget about that feature and try to print something, you will get a 'printer offline' message and your item(s) will stay stuck in the queue-then, you have to turn on the printer, cancel the previous job(s) that you created when you THOUGHT the printer was on, and then try to print whatever you were trying to print again. I updated the printer firmware and was able to locate the option in the Printer's settings to turn off that auto-shutoff setting, so we shouldn't have to worry about this anymore. Other than those 2 caveats, this is a pretty great machine that does a lot and doesn't have a large footprint at all for all that it does (this is replacing my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 all in one, which definitely had a bigger footprint).

Uncommonly difficult to set up and work properly
I had considerable trouble with the install; getting it to communicate with the computer. I contacted Tech Help Solutions. They worked with it for some time, but they got it to work. Then there was no printer icon on the desktop and it wouldn't print certain things. I couldn't get it done so I called them back again and they got it done. Now it seems to work right, but it seems to start printing very slowly, but once it starts it seems to be normal. Aside from all that, it does seem to me that it is a quality machine. I had great service from Canon machines and the Canon company in the past. Unlike Epson, I'm not afraid of Canon.

Glad I made this purchase
Just set up the printer today. I have only basic tech knowledge and set up of the printer was pretty easy using the detailed videos on the Cannon app that I downloaded from the App Store. The only problem I encountered is that I couldn’t get the printer connected to my wi-fi or other devices. Thankfully, I found a you tube video on “Connecting a Cannon PIXMA G7020 to your iOS device”. The key step is to press the button that looks like a chain link. After that, just followed the prompts and connection was easy. All together, it took less than an hour to start printing from my devices. Print quality was fine for a home office. It does take a lot longer to print a page than my old Hp office jet pro, but I’m not using it for business and I’m retired, so that part doesn’t really bother me. The printer is slightly smaller than my Hp and has a sleek look. I like the fact that the key pad can be angled for optimum viewing. Others complained about the window not being back- lighted but it’s not a problem for me as I have plenty of daylight in my office. All together, I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend it if printer speed is not an issue for you.

Lacks networking functionalitty.
Pros: I love the idea of being able to see the paper and ink levels.
Negs: Clients have to be on the same subnet. Canon ulities are sluggish as if communication over a serial connection over ethernet. Print queues are slow to start. There is no native Windows printer port so it doesn't intergates easily with windows other tools like scan and fax.

Awful connectivity
I've had this printer about 3 months and have loved it so purchased the newer version for my husbands home office. The 2nd one would stay connected for one day and then would go offline. The G7020 didn't have this issue until this week. It no longer stays connected longer than a few hours. I then have to delete it from my computer, rest the internet password on the printer, re-install the printer and start over. It takes a couple hours to to this so I have gotten in the habit of sending my prints to the new HP printer in my husbands office. Canon has failed on the wireless connectivity on these printers. I'll order a cord and see if the G7020 will work without issue if it is directly wired. Don't buy any Canon printers until they fix this fatal flaw

Bad INK
Purchased April 2021, have used more ink flushing and cleaning than I have printing. June 2023 tried to print a 100 page legal report and the black ink decided to fade out then print nothing with 1/2 a tank of ink...sent printer in for repair. The fix lasted till October 2023 when the black went out again...cleaned, flushed twice and ended up sending it out for repair again....End of October the repair shop said it couldn't be repaired. Will try Brother next.

Worse printer ever
I have to express my extreme disappointment with this product. If I could rate it a big fat zero, I absolutely would without hesitation. This so-called device seems to revel in its incompetence. It refuses to cooperate, continuously bombarding me with erroneous messages. It has a knack for declaring, with unwavering confidence, that there is a conspicuous absence of paper in the rear feed, even when the paper is right before my eyes. It gleefully insists that the feed cover is wide open, despite all evidence to the contrary. To make matters worse, it merrily chokes on paper, regardless of whether I feed it a small or generous stack. It takes perverse pleasure in snatching multiple sheets at once, causing a chaotic paper party that invariably leads to a frustrating jam. I've practically contributed to deforestation in my futile attempts to get it to function properly.

Canon printer G7020
I have been a Canon printer user for over 20 years, to me Canon is the very best on the market. Ease in setup, and using, great all in one printer. I love the new print tank type printer because you can see the ink levels. The printer prints beautifully and the photo prints are of very high quality. Let us not forget the customer service, that's all it take is a phone call to solve any problems you may have.Thank you Canon for a great product.

Huge disappointment
Doesn't talk well with computer. Constant issues with the spooler - I had to look up how to input code to clear the spooler if the spooler shows up at all. Have had to re-install multiple times. It's painfully slow. Any special instructions (requesting a specific page to print) makes it freeze up and I have to go back to coding or re-installing. Keep in mind, I have limited tech skills. Only plus is that the ink seems to last awhile. Sadly, not enough to compensate for the headache of trying to print a simple document. Print quality (pics) isn't as good as I thought it would be either. Huge disappointment.

Has it's down sides so far.
Have been using for several months doing basic word documents.
Negative the paper gets pushed out so far and the pull out to hold paper is so short it ends up all over the floor unless I rig up something to catch it. Duplex printing can take 50 seconds per document. Print quality is good.

Happy Printing
It is a great printer. Easy to set up, except the Wi-Fi connection to each device. Figured out, just connect it to your Wi-Fi and make it sharable on the network and anyone can print to it. Print quality is truly great on all types of photo paper and documents are clear, clean and crisp on draft setting. I was spending about $150/year on ink for my old Pixma 922 and now ~$70 will last at least a year and half. Super excited to be saving $$ on a great printer.

Shuts itself off after a few hours
IMO, a poor product. This shuts itself off after a few hours. I'll be in my office in the next room and wonder why there's nothing happening when I asked it to print. Then I'll go check and I'll find out that it has shut itself off again. I'll turn it on and it will take a couple minutes to warm up. Even if it's been on, I'll go to print and sometimes it will think about it for a few minutes before it decides to start printing.
Also, there was one critical step left off in the assembly instructions and I couldn't get it set up without calling tech support.
Finally, it does not come with a user manual.
Print quality is good when it does print.

I purchased this in August 2020 after getting sick of constantly having to purchase expensive ink tanks. Since then (it's now September 2023), I've printed thousands of pages, full-color books, and have never had an issue. It's still going strong and I'm barely halfway through the ink cartridges!!

This just didn't ever work that well
I bought this 2 years ago. The print quality was never great, I replaced the printer heads but Canon was backordered so I bought what you find on Amazon. That lasted 3 months. Now cleaning the heads has turned into an error code requiring service. There is no service available thru Canon. My last printer lasted over 5 years. Why buy new when they don't last and you can't fix them?

Awesome Printer
I've been using a Brother MFC-J7210DW for a little over 10 years. It's been ok, but have been dealing with a broken paper tray for several years (just using the 2nd one). It has gotten to the point where everytime I tried to print a photo, it would have a paper jam.
I first got a HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e. Found some issues that were absolute deal breakers
1) No USB port so it only works wirelessly. This on the face isn't a major issue, but it seems to require a connection to the outside internet - meaning my data is going thru HP servers then to my printer. Not a fan.
2) Print cartridges won't work unless they are genuine HP, which charges way too much for replacement cartridges.
3) Mobile app sucks and in order to use all the features, you have to pay a subscription. Yes - you have to pay a subscription to use an item to purchased to its full potential.
This Canon printer solves all of those problems.
1) USB port - check! Require connection to Canon to print - NOPE.
2) Ink - very reasonably priced and a significant amount of ink was included with the printer. Since it refills, you can use 3rd party ink if you want, but given the price of Canon I'll definitely buy Canon ink.
3) Mobile app is AWESOME. I printed a photo. The app had all the features needed - crop, resize, rotate, border/borderless, paper size, paper tray. When I selected the rear paper tray, it gave me a link to a tutorial on how to use the rear paper tray. Genius! Could not have been easier and the print quality was great.
All in all, this Canon was more expensive than the HP but I'll recover that quickly thru the much lower ink cost and no necessary subscription. The only feature I lost was duplex scanning which I rarely need anyway.
Super happy that I bought this printer.

Great Printer!
This is my third Canon printer in the last 12 years and I love it. I found the directions to be very straight forward, everything connected right away, and four members of my family were printing within minutes from computers and phones. This printer is slightly more compact than my last Canon. I love the front feeder-- this saves so much space when you store the printer in a cabinet. Many printers don't have a dedicated front feeder and it's awkward. I expect to get lots of great use out of this printer.

No Software Interface and Clogged Ink
There is no desktop software interface for this printer, the onboard interface is excessively clunky. The ink will constantly clog in the system requiring a flushing of the ink (I usually have to perform 2 flushes in succession to get the nozzles flowing again). I believe this may be uniformly an issue for all of these ink tank systems...

Decent printer aside from the unreadable screen
I thought this would be an improvement over the smaller Pixma I had but it's pretty much the same...just with a tiny, dark screen that is virtually unreadable. I have to shine my iPhone light on the screen to read what it says. Not sure why they prioritized seeing the ink over seeing the screen. It also requires pressing a lot more buttons than the touchscreen on my old Pixma. I saw people warning about the screen in the reviews - I should have listened.

So far so good
Everything I was looking for in one printer. The Pixma 7020 does it all: prints documents 2 sided, faxing capabilities, 350 sheet paper tray (no more adding paper everytime I print), prints high quality HD photos in multiple sizes, copy, scan, fax, but the best part about this printer is the mega refillable ink tanks. My main focus in this purchase was to save money on replacement ink cartridges. Hopefully I will never have to buy those ever again! Prints around 7,000 pages with one fill ! Couldn't ask for anything more in a printer. Thanks Canon!

I like many of the features this printer has. Two sided copy automated, ink tanks easy to see status of the ink.... but it does not seem to scan directly into Word documents. You are stuck with a .pdf. Also if you do not use the color ink often it will plug up, then you waste ink unplugging it.

Worked Once
This printer worked for a month and then we were inflicted with error messages and then the black printer head failed. I have been unable to find that print head anywhere, even on the Canon website. What sense does that make? Buy an expensive printer and then never have parts available? Talk about ripping us off! So we paid a lot of money for a dozen prints before it became a brick. Absolute pile of junk! Never buying Canon again. If this is the quality of their printers why would I keep upgrading my Canon pro camera body and lens, which were very expensive. I'm switching over to Nikon on my next upgrade.

It prints beautiful pictures, but . . .
The photos I print from the PIXMA G7020 printer are stunning--suitable for framing. But, as a copy machine, scanner and fax machine it is is completely lacking. Having learned this, the next printer that I buy will be specifically for photo printing and I will buy a better 3:1 printer elsewhere. The scanning function is obsolete and not intuitive, it is slow, it jams, and it constantly disconnects from the network. There is a tiny, dark LCD that is impossible to read in low light and displays codes requiring me to find the manual whenever something goes wrong, which is often.

They Can Do (LOTS) Better Than This!
The website says this unit & its drivers (PIXMA G7020 Wireless MegaTank All-In-One Printer) will work with my computer and OS (iMac | macOS Catalina 10.15.7, fully updated) but not so, at least no so as far as the scanner is concerned. I live and die on my Mac and scanning is a very necessary and important function for me to have.
Customer service must have been disbanded because despite repeated attempts to get some help, nothing but crickets. Not only that, but with my Customer Account Information displayed on one of Canon's account screen pages, the system told me that it couldn't locate me, or my printer/scanner even with the unit's serial number displayed on screen.
Best Buy Geek Squad even came to the house and was unsuccessful. So much for Canon knowing what they are doing!
Luckily I have a Mac portable that is able to handle the scanning process for me. However I have to do some computer gymnastics to get the scans over onto my Mac.
