The RF 85 mm f/1.2L USM DS enables you to achieve significantly smoother bokeh. Canon's original DS (Defocus Smoothing) coating gradually decreases the transmittance of light from the center to the periphery of the lens, which enables you to achieve significantly softness and smoothness of outlines.

RF DS Sharpness
The RF85mm should be an essential piece of glass to your bag, especially if you do portrait and weddings. The DS adds sharpness to the Bokeh/out of focus areas. Nice touch!

Best Lens I used with Canon
I had this lens for a few weeks to decide to move from Nikon to Canon. It was used with an R5 in swimming contests and portraits.
This combination exceeded my expectations with a wonderful bokeh and low light performance. This made my decision easier. AF is fast and accurate, better than anything I used before. I recommend this lens for portrait, sports and work photography.

This. Lens. Delivers.
I was on the fence for so long about which version of this lense to purchase...The Regular 85mm 1.2 or the DS Defocus Smoothing) version. I struggled with the 1/3 loss of light due to the coating which makes The DS version Special. Guess what? Its so small you dont even notice. And the result is like...SPECTACULAR. As a professional it's the subtleties that make all the difference. And sometimes that difference can seal a deal, it can please a very important eye or simple Capture an image in a manner that is so stunning you forget how much you paid for the lens. If you want to know if this lense is worth the hype? It is. Buy it, you wont regret it.

So very pleased with this lens!!!
Okay, first off don’t be afraid of the 1.3 stop light loss. Any R system camera runs perfectly fine in low light to make it not matter.
This lens is stunning, the clearest glass I’ve ever looked through, and that bokeh is worth every penny.
