The VB-H47 inherits the high performance features of previous Canon PTZ cameras, but includes significant improvements with an advanced image sensor and processor. Ideal for the security and surveillance markets, the VB-H47 contains a high-sensitivity image sensor and optical zoom lens which provides exceptional low-light performance with a minimum subject illumination level. The advanced image processor provides high-quality video streaming.

Other improvements include High Dynamic Range (HDR) that combine frames of different exposure, giving the user even exposure over the camera's field of view. Along with improved video, the VB-H47 also supports the AAC-LC audio standard for improved audio quality. An available simple camera setting allows users to instantly set their camera up to fit their application such as Motion Priority, Low Light Visibility, Depth Priority, and Data Size Reductions.
