New Power for Wireless Networks
Wireless networking is steadily approaching the speeds of its wired counterparts. Formerly Linksys Business Series, now Cisco Small Business Wireless Access Points, the WAP4400N Wireless-N Access Point does this by overlaying the signals of multiple radios. This "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology utilizes signal reflections that confuse ordinary wireless technology to increase a device's range and reduce dead spots in the coverage area.
Adding PCs to your network is a snap, as the WAP4400N supports Wireless-N (802.11n), Wireless-G (802.11g), and Wireless-B (802.11b) devices. To eliminate cabling hassle, the WAP4400N allows for Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity. This makes for easy installations, even in places without ready access to an electrical outlet.
Additional features of the Cisco WAP4400N Wireless-N Access Point include:
• Compliance with IEEE draft 802.11n standards while remaining backwards compatible with 802.11b and b devices
• Standards-based PoE (IEEE 802.3af) or external power via an included AC adapter
• Improved Quality of Service (QoS) over wireless connections for better video and voice performance
• Advanced security with WPA encryption, logging, and MAC address filtering
