I used the "upgrade my computer" on this website and selected my model and found that I could get the same RAM for a little over $100. I will say it took some faith and trust that the computer selector would give me the correct RAM for my system. It worked and saved me time and money.

Only hiccup was the install not being recognized til I pulled the battery on the motherboard and waited 15 minutes so the BIOS could reset and recognize the memory. All in all, worth the money for the upgrade and I'm able to open projects much more easily.

The machine came pre-loaded with 2x16gb sticks, running at 2933 mhz. Ran the compatibility test on it from Crucial. ordered two 16gb sticks CT2K16G4DFD832A. Put them in the machine, and the memory speed dropped in both single and dual channel mode to 2400 with 4 16 gb sticks in it, 2 from dell the CT2K16G4DFD832A from Crucial. Don't know if Dell has some sort of limiter or if Crucial's compatibility applet were off.

Used Crucial analyser to buy two 16GB RAMs. Delivery took about 10 days because it was sent on its own from Czech Republic via Germany and Netherlands to UK. No fitting instructions so waited until a more knowledgeable relation was here. Turned out to be pretty straightforward, took side off PC and quickly identified the 8GB to remove. Slight fiddle with catches to release the 8GB and fit the two 16GBs.

I now have two 4-gig rams and this one 16 gig ram. I did need to forcefully push the ram into place before it was recognized by the computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fully compatible when other brands were not!! 3200 MHZ whereas another well known brand of PC4-25600 3200 MHz defaulted to 2400 MHz. HP bios did not have the option of setting memory speed so other brand was returned. Apparently many others have encountered this issue as there are YouTube videos on the topic of some HP desktops not being XMP compatible, required to obtain 3200 MHZ by other brands. Simple solution is to purchase Crucial memory which is as advertised, fully compliant with the HP motherboard and standard used by original factory memory.

Extra RAM is only useful if you need it because large programs doing graphical type work or intense gaming or just too many programs open at once. Cheap easy upgrade if low RAM is your trouble. If you don't need it it will have no effect on your system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second time buying Crucial RAM, dependable both times. Long story short, I am happy with the product and would recommend Crucial RAM. My computer supports 2666mhz, and I did not know that buying 3200mhz would make it perform lower than the computer's capacity. It is operating at 1333mhz according to Speccy. That being said, the issue I was having seemed to be mostly that the 8GB of 2666mhz RAM my computer came with was frequently topping out on space. Now that I have this 16GB installed (I removed the two 4GB sticks it came with thinking they might limit the new RAM's performance) even though the RAM is operating at a lower speed my lagging issues have pretty much gone away. I have a program called Rainmeter that displays CPU, RAM and swap (which I think is VRAM) usage, and before RAM and swap were pretty consistenly above 80%, and when it went higher that's when I would get bad lagging; now they seldom exceed 70% with multiple programs open. Firefox seemed to be the biggest offender, and if I just have that open it's usually around 50%, where before it would be around 80% with only Firefox open.
