I tried to put into my laptop but I couldn't figure out which direction it was supposed to face, even though it only went in one way and my previously existing ram gave me an indication of the correct direction I just couldn't bring myself to it. I would not recommend it to a friend because I cannot fathom them being able to figure out the coin toss chance of discovering the correct memory orientation for there laptop/desktop/phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not fit Dell Latitude 5511 I purchased this RAM for my business to upgrade our Dell Latitude 5511 laptops. The Crucial compatibility checker directed me to this product. However, the notch in the pins on the bottom of the RAM is "backwards." The laptop requires the notch to be on the left side of the pins, which is what is shown in the picture on this website and at resellers. However, the notch is actually on the *right* side of the pins, so the stick physically will not fit in the laptop. Do not purchase this item if you have a Dell Latitude 5511.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't work - Crucial's info is wrong for Acer XC-830 Duff information from Crucial! On-line system scanner and selector recommended this item to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB. Instruction was to take the existing 4GB out of the slot (Crucial say there is only one slot) and replace it with their 8GB one. It didn't work. Just a permanent beep and nothing on the screen. I gave it a clean, took BIOS battery out and back in, etc, as recommended on Crucial web site. There are actually 2 slots inside, so Crucial is wrong on this. I did some more research and found Kingston and Acer web sites both say you have to put 4GB in each slot, and 8GB dimms won't work. I tried the RMA system on-line and got a message "Requisition could not be found". Tried again a few days later and just kept seeing the submit form again, with no acknowledgement of submission. I phoned the help line and got told all the same things to try as the web site said. I said the selector info is wrong and I wanted a refund. They then sent me an email, again telling me to try all the same things. In the end I gave up and got a used 4GB from Dr Memory, Samsung, identical part no to the existing 4GB one, and put it in the other slot that Crucial don't think exists, and it works fine, and I now have 8GB. Shame as I have used Crucial in the past. But in future I will do a more comprehensive check to make sure I am buying the right thing.

One thing to note and a warning to others is that the Acer laptop that lists this under Crucial's compatibility tool does list this 8gbx2 as compatible, and it does work, however there is only one upgradable slot in the laptop. The 4gb it originally comes with is soldered in. So you'll only need to buy one stick of RAM, not a kit.

However, The Scan Tool said that there was "another Slot for RAM" and there's No SUCH SLOT. There's One Slot on the Motherboard and its Full.
