Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi-function mobile adapter The Dell USB-C Mobile Adapter has come in very handy when the ports on my Inspiron laptop are just not enough. It also outputs both HDMI and DisplayPort using only the one Thunderbolt 4 port, and does a great job at this. I have not yet used the multi-function USB-C port, but will have a need for it at some point. The only negative I would have is the USB-C cable for connection to the laptop is very short, but I like that it is retractable. Overall it is a good quality mobile adapter that does many things well.

All of this works as expected at the classroom podium.

Turns out it is too low a power output when connected to the computer and causes a BIOS low power error at boot time. The device may be fine otherwise.

However I have had USB C disconnect/reconnect incidents 8 times. I requested a replacement but received a first generation replacement and should have gotten a second generation DELL USB-C Mobile Adapter - DA310 purchase, but did not. Opened a support ticket to replace the the replacement

However, from the start, it does not work out of the box. Had power issues and devices not working as expected. So, it is not a suitable device to that purpose. It’s only flaw is it’s built in connector cable doesn’t have any kink prevention and over time it may become unusable. I had one of these and the cable became intermittent and the broken. This is now my second one so time will tell. I am babying it more this time.

The only thing I do not care for is that when you plug in a USB stick the system only recognizes the device itself and not the USB sticks plugged in for a safe removal function. Seems odd you cannot see the actual USB sticks. Other than that it is very effective.

I have not tested the VGA or Displaylink but the HDMI ports and USB ports work fine. The retractable USB-C cable is a good idea but a shy too short. It dangles when I try to use it on my lap or when my laptop is mounted on my desktop. It's light weight, so carrying it around in my kit isn't an issue. At airports, when I have multiple USB devices (thumb drive, mouse, and card reader), is when this device comes in handy.

There is no port for an external sound system and my unit did not pass-through power via a USB-C power source. I only have four cables plugged in the adapter (a network cable, a second monitor, an external backup hard drive and a scanner) and it takes up more desktop space than the old D3100 docking station. It works, it’s cute but not very practical.

I connected my laptop charger to the USB-C Power Adapter from that mobile puck. Then connected the mobile puck to the USB-C adapter on my Dell laptop and started the laptop. Immediately I got a warning the mobile puck only delivers 15W but the laptop requires 64W to run. So the documentation showing power pass-through is false. You cannot use the mobile puck to power your laptop

The first problem I got is when I use power passthru to laptop, the power adapter(100W) gets shut off once a day, LED light off, especially when laptop just started for awhile. Unplug AC and plug in again it works for a day. Then I updated its firmware, still happens, so I connected the adapter to other USB C port without power passthru. A new problem coming, my Jabra Engage 75 connected to adaptor got problem, Other people's voices became noises. Switching connection to laptop USB port, voices backed to normal.

As a multiport adapter this works fine with my XPS15 9530, a single external monitor, wired mouse, plus external keyboard. Takes us minimal desk space. Unfortunately it won't charge the laptop battery (130W required but only 90W max available through the adaptor.)

Nothing in the description mentioned this, and I feel a little cheated that I specifically bought the name brand item...only to find out I get alerts all day about not charging at the correct rate.

I have used it several times and am glad to have a variety of seven ports on hand and easy to use. The size is perfect for travel and meetings. It worked great and quickly to charge my fitness watch. It handled my card reader for my camera perfectly transferring photos from the SD card to my laptop. I would recommend this product.

I'm a bit concerned that it gets warm with prolongue use, but i guess that's expected of a device for that facilitates connecting a monitor and allow for peripherals to be energized. I have not tried the Ethernet connection, which is the primary reason for my purchase in order to connect my Dell with no Ethernet port to my router via usb-C. I'm confident it will will work without problem.

Note: The adapter also draws power from your power adapter, so if you try to use your OEM power adapter with this and your laptop, your laptop will probably give you a message that says your laptop will run on low power mode because there is not enough power is coming from the adapter. Solution: Get a higher watt adapter if you want to pass through from this adapter... :/

Pros: Supports 4K, small form factor, great for travel Cons: Requires larger power supply, USB C cable to connect to laptop is too short, circular design means you will have cables pointing in all directions on your work surface Summary, its good to keep in your laptop bag for occasional use. The circular design offers no cable organization ability. Probably should be sold with a larger power supply as it decreases performance of your laptop 2/10, will not recommend

I've received my new XPS 15 yesterday and was able to connect my AD-310 to the system, it worked like a charm from the first trial: USB-A CD-ROM drive, external USB-C drive, USB printer all connected correctly and all perform wonderfully and although the AD-310 is very small it didn't get hot or even warm. Bravo!

Not to mention a really short USB-C plug in. Makes all those splayed-out cables really stand out 4 inches away from your laptop....This one needs to be redesigned back into a traditional brick style Doc with a longer plug in IMHO. The thing works great if you don't mind the cable mess right next to your laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for encrypted devices. It's an ok adapter, but, it will NOT pass data from an encrypted device. If you use encrypted USB drives, the drive must be connected directly to the laptop; if the DA310 adapter is used, the laptop will not recognize the USB drive, nor find it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dell 7-in-1 USB-C Multiport Adapter - DA310 I purchased the Dell 7-in-1 USB-C Multiport Adapter - DA310 for additional ports for my Dell XPS 15. At first, I connected the DA310 to my Dell Thunderbolt Dock - WD22TB4. After that, I noticed that Windows 11 was giving me notifications about a USB device that needed to be connected directly to my computer. So, I powered down the XPS 15 and the Thunderbolt Dock, disconnected the DA310 from the Thunderbolt dock and plugged the DA310 directly to the XPS 15. I powered up the XPS 15 and the Thunderbolt Dock and all was well - no more Windows 11 notifications about a USB device. By the way, I have a Dell USB Slim DVD+-RW Drive - DW316 plugged into the Dell DA310.

I would NOT recommend this device as other similar devices would allow more than one monitor to be plugged in and this one does not and also have the same problem or being unable to charge my laptop anyway.

This little gadget allows ethernet connections and thus faster than Wifi performance from your router or modem. It also has additional USB A and C plugs for all the various added devices you use. Plus, you are able to plug in an additional screen if you want. If, like me, you have old VGA devices around, you can even use those!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi-function mobile adapter The Dell USB-C Mobile Adapter has come in very handy when the ports on my Inspiron laptop are just not enough. It also outputs both HDMI and DisplayPort using only the one Thunderbolt 4 port, and does a great job at this. I have not yet used the multi-function USB-C port, but will have a need for it at some point. The only negative I would have is the USB-C cable for connection to the laptop is very short, but I like that it is retractable. Overall it is a good quality mobile adapter that does many things well.

The only thing I do not care for is that when you plug in a USB stick the system only recognizes the device itself and not the USB sticks plugged in for a safe removal function. Seems odd you cannot see the actual USB sticks. Other than that it is very effective.

It seems they use a RealTek chip for the ethernet, and the Win11 drivers (as of 5/24) are trash if you need to run a VPN (there is some unknown conflict). The other ports seem to be fine, it does what I want/expect, and the retractable USB-C is really nice.
