I am still in the process of updating my computer installation, so I cannot report on how it works wired to my network yet. As a stand alone device, it is working very well. Easy to attach & detach my laptop from the Dock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WD19TBS perfect mate for the new XPS 9500 Works great and has all the connections I need - multiple USB, ethernet, HDMI. I did my research ahead of time to know this had all the connection points and the proper power source for the new XPS 9500 rather than one of the smaller docking stations or hubs. It worked directly out of the box. I simply plugged it into the wall then connected it to my new XPS 9500 and everything worked flawlessly. I can disconnect the laptop to do work elsewhere then reconnect to the WD19TBS and everything fires back up, including the extra monitor and the ethernet, just as it should. I think I prefer the old docking stations where the connection was built into the the bottom of the laptop and the laptop sat on the docking station but it seems manufacturers are moving to this design for some reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dell Thunderbolt WD19TBS Docking Station I purchased a Dell Ultrasharp monitor and needed a docking station that supports dataport connectivity and has a thunderbolt connector to my XPS-15 laptop. The WD19TBS docking station fits the bill. I have one monitor connected to the HDMI port and another monitor connect to the dataport. I also use one of the USB ports to connect the wireless adaptor for my wireless mouse and keyboard. It all works well. I only had one issue with audio not working when the monitors were connected to the docking station. I fixed this by going into Settings > System in Windows 10 and changing the sound output to Speakers/Headphones (Realtek Audio). It took a little over a month to receive the docking station due to a manufacturing delay. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from G7 and WD19TBS When attached to G7 the Power Management cannot determine which power source to use and results conflict which must be manually resolved. AS the G7 is attached to 2 Dell 32" monitors and other disk drives this means opening the laptop and accepting the diagnostic interrupt to continue then closing laptop and resuming startup. The work around provided was unplug G7 allow startup on battery and then plug in. Second when attaching external disk drives to Thunderbolt or G7 they are not recognized unless looking through disk management which means backup and other uses of external drives are not working.

External data, video/audio, keyboard/mouse not to mention power through that one cable, I’m amazed it works at all. Good try but, I’m going to buy a video splitter for dual monitors, plug the keyboard/mouse dongle into one of the three onboard USB3 ports. Plug external data sources into another one of the USB3 ports, speakers into the audio jack and be done with Thunderbolt. It didn’t work in 2016; when I first tried it, and it still doesn’t, at least not well! I miss the old Dell E-Port docking station.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but can be better We've used Dell USB Docks for some time. One advantage is that they are quick and easy. The disadvantage is they are clumsy to configure on desks. We've never had an install that we were satisfied with. Power is on the front instead of the back, which usually, but not always is a problem. it seems a better location would be on the back at the end. if they put the power on the back, they might as well add the Network port on that side too, it just makes sense. The cable to connect to the PC is on the end, which actually works in most situations. The usable ports on the "front" are fine, but they might consider moving the two ports that are currently on the back, to the end. It would be nice if they had mounting on the bottom so the unit could be mounted under desks near the wire hole. We've had to extend the USB C cable, which causes some issues when the users accidentally unplug it. Having a way to use different length USB C cables, that were securely attached, would be nice.

Tried cheaper brand Docks and one monitor would always flicker. I do get a warning when booting up my laptop each day that the C-charge port is to slow, but it doesn't seem to matter my laptop is charging and stays changed.

Also, when plugging the computer in to the dock, none of the peripherals work until restarting the entire setup. It's a far cry from the quality and ease of the windows surface family I'm migrating from.

This one I can only connect into 2 monitors, it doesn't work for the 3rd one. Anyway tired to figure out what is wrong. Company paid for them. I don't care. But if I use my own money , i won't do it, and I will definitely return them.

You'll need to plug audio directly in the laptop - The cooling fan can be loud - If your dock is faulty, mine was within one month of ownership, it will be replaced with a refurbished dock. Going to the expense of buying a new dock but ending up with a 2nd-hand dock feels like a bit of a cheat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frustrated with non-functional ports Dell picked an inopportune time to ask for my review. I have had the WD19TBS for about ten days. As instructed, I downloaded any possible driver updates before using the product. I connected a second monitor in the HDMI port, internet cable in the Ethernet port and wireless mouse and a wired keyboard in the USB ports. Every device plugged into the WD9TBS worked flawlessly. I took my laptop with me on a five day trip. When I plugged the WD9TBS into my laptop upon my return the only devices that are now operational are the power supply and the second monitor. None of the USB ports or the Ethernet port are functional. I have shutdown and restarted my laptop a number of times and have unplugged and plugged back in the WD9TBS a number of times without success of restoring the functions of the non-responsive ports. I not yet contacted Dell with these issues but will do so as soon as I finish this review. Hopefully, they have a suitable resolution to this aggravating problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Discharge the Flea power Many, or most issues we have had with Docking stations are resolved by rebooting. It's not as easy as it sounds. You have to remove any source of power and thn hold the power button to discharge the "Flea Power" The bit left in the capacitors. It takes 30-60 seconds and if you don't then don't bother trying a reboot. It won't work. If you do then chances are everything will work fine.

I have two complaints: 1) The power cord to the PC is permanently attached to the dock. Should this cord ever fail the dock must be discarded or hopefully repaired by Dell. This is the reason for 3 stars 2) There is no SD card reader. You must have a USB to SD card reader - just another piece of junk to carry or keep in your junk drawer.

I had used a couple of other docking stations and they either would cut video out or simply crash my monitors and I would have to reboot the system. I have 2 32" curved Dell monitors, which I believe consumed a lot of power. This docking station supports the monitors like a champ!

I'm not sure that I was convinced that it would be such an easy solution to plug in 2 32" monitors as well as all the usual peripheral accessories and have it work first time we booted the new laptop up after plugging in everything. It is convenient, has a miniscule footprint, and has been a tremendous improvement in our dwindling office space.

And, the USBs are unexpectedly disconnecting the monitor and keyboard, forcing me to reset in the middle of my work. This product is not reliable.

I also get a message in Windows from Alienware onscreen display saying that some features are not supported.. This is not at all what I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is just OK. Loud compared with other docking stations. Not enough USB-A ports, Cable to short to hide large docking station under tables etc. and this dock is huge. There is a bracket which can be used to affix the dock behind a monitor which i think solves many of my complaints but this thing is loud and the fan runs at random when not used. When i had this in my home office i found myself turning off the power bar at my desk. Replaced this with the Dell U3421WE.

While this one works for me, it does just barely. It could use at least two (or ideally three or four) more standard USB 2.0 connections as though the computer itself only has USB 3.0 most of my peripherals I need to use it with are 2.0. It does not have an audio jack, which the other docking stations I have used do have. It is enormous and very heavy by comparison with, for instance, another dock that I use with a different computer. I often take business trips of more than one month. I like to take a dock with me on those trips, but because of its weight and size and not quite enough ports I will probably take a much smaller and lighter, equally equipped third party dock with me instead.

The dock works well for my setup: I'm using 1 x USB port and both display ports to connect to a KVM switch. 3.5mm audio I get through a USB-C dongle. Sound pass-through using the display cables is another option. The dock supplies enough juice for my thirsty XPS 17 9710

Movement of the computer power cord tends to disrupt the power and shuts the monitors off. The IT guys say the docking station created a lot of issues related to my printer, and compatibility issues with my old monitors. I would suggest making sure you use Dell products with this docking station and make sure you have enough ports for your needs.

I have another Dell dock that is smaller with more USB ports and it works just as well as this one. This one does have the bonus of the power button, which will allow you to keep your laptop lid closed, and power your laptop on/off or un-sleep easily by pressing the button. Overall, you can't go wrong with this one.

A secondary issue is that the usb cable from the dock to the computer needs to be replaceable. We've had several people pinch these in standing desks or some where the cable just went bad. Unfortunately it wasn't something that we could purchase from dell or find online easily. They are super easy to replace if you can find the replacement.

To connect two external monitors on MacOS: Connect first monitor using DisplayPort and second monitor using Display port to a USB-C adapter and then to thunderbolt port on the docking station. If you try to connect any other monitor using HDMI or Display port, it will be duplicated of screen 2. Honestly, this could be achieved by a lot cheaper cable connectors and plug it directly to two thunderbolt ports on the Mac. This stands true as of May 2022 on Mac Mon V12.4 To connect two external monitors on Windows: Connect the monitors however you want and connect the dock with the laptop, all screens are detected and display is extended, perfect!

The power conversion is enough for all of my periphs and there's no glitching or lagging with wireless dongles and keystrokes (like many docks or adapters have the only thing i would change is adding 2 more USB 3.0 ports to the back of it.

It does what is needed and it's better made than most USB docks I've tested but USB docking stations in general require really good drivers and that is not what I'm finding. The driver and firmware updates on these docking stations have to be constantly updated and checked. If a system gets corrupted for any reason a rebuild is the only way you can get these installed again on a windows machine. Also, unlike the older docking stations that used the Latitude specialty connectors any USB docking station is just inferior to what was a true desktop replacement with the older dock design. These have a decent amount of ports but even using the Thunderbolt connection the serial nature of USB shows in the video response, network speed, odd video glitches, etc. Display port, mouse and keyboard response time things that should be fast and robust just can't keep up when you are doing anything that demands a good percentage of your bandwidth to work. I'm not talking about games, though those are affected, I'm talking about business analysis software that requires good data speed and fast graphics for analysis and visualization. Many would say use a desktop for that work but for the past 20 years multiple companies and clients have not needed to buy two systems thanks to truly quality docking stations that were available on the Latitude line of notebooks. Notebooks have enough power to do this work, some even better than desktops, but notebooks are small and hard to work on 8 plus hours a day because of small keyboards and screens. They just need good connectivity and docking to make the process comfortable for people to work every day and still be able to take the machine with them when they go home to do other things that are not as intensive or focused. Ideally we will start seeing USB docks that can truly take advantage of Thunderbolt but getting clean and stable drivers that don't need to be constantly checked and updated is the first step.

It is effectively one of the only (if not the only docks that provides sufficient watts to support a full load of the laptop (including GPUs), so it is a strict necessity. My only complaint with it is that it is behind the XPS 15 (9510) for which I purchased this: no thunderbolt 4; only one HDMI port; some combinations of HDMI and USB-C video are not supported (based on thunderbolt support). There are other non-Dell docks that have much better support for TB4, but none of them deliver the watts required by this laptop which could result in battery-drain while plugged in and under heavy load.

HOWEVER, I still have no idea (after researching extensively, speaking to representatives in computer stores) HOW to attach speakers to the dock. There was no real users manual delivered with the product. I bought USB connected speakers, but I still need to connect the audio jack (which the Thunderbolt dock does not have). I would really appreciate direction on how to connect speakers.

Worked great with my company's XPS13 for about a week or so, before the docking station decided to stop communicating with it entirely. Everything else works fine with the 13" (4K displays connected directly, external audio devices, etc., but the docking station refuses to do anything with the XPS13 at all anymore. Since my XPS15 was the primary computer for this dock and everything still works fine there I'd probably have never even known about this and would have 5-star'ed the unit...but it feels really low-quality to have two Dell devices simply stop working together. Since my XPS13 is a work computer, and this docking station is a personal device that continues to work with my personal devices, this isn't anywhere near as bad as it could have been...but I am extremely close to considering opening up a support ticket for a faulty unit.

I really love the versatility and quick charging capabilities. Only thing I would recommend is to determine a way to make this smaller and lighter it’s form factor today. If you want to transport this around to various location know it’s a little heavy.

If I click on anything in the second monitor like a tab of a web browser, then both displays go blank and is takes a couple seconds for them to recover. The video game is minimized so I have to re-open it. I'm not impressed at all. Strange because I have Dell docking station for may work laptop which works just fine. Still trying to figure this one out. Also, the installation instructions are really bad. Minimal text. Just pictograms which are pretty much useless. These directions warn about improper behavior unless you update BIOS and drivers. I think I did this but again, the directions are really bad.

PC won't use the single Thunderbolt USB-C port - only DP/HDMI/regular USB-C, MAC requires 1 Display Port and 1 Thunderbolt. Took some trial and error, but got it working. I don't expect it to work with the Macbook Pro with M1 Pro chip to support more than 2 external displays.

I am still having a slight problem when booting the unit for it is not being recognized. I am slightly disappointed with the experience with this dock. Users are never careful with their laptops and we average 1 or more system board replacements every other month. The older docking station, albeit less easy to use almost never caused that issue. It was an exception not the rule.

One of our 20+ units had a cooling fan issue, Dell repaired it and all it good. One of the best features is being compatible with Mac Pro's and iPads.. These have saved our lunch in several events where someone brought a Mac pro to film a game and the Macintosh Power supply would not provide enough power to all of the USB-C plugs to power the adapters. Once we used this to provide power and another USB-C for the Mac everything worked flawlessly.

After updating my Windows 11, XPS 13 BIOS and installing the required network connection driver, the unit performs flawlessly. One minor annoyance: The cooling fan kicks into high speed every so often... only for a few seconds, but it is quite loud and can be startling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dell Thunderbolt Dock- WD19TBS It looses connectivity with my keyboard and mouse (which connects to it by a USB) for a brief 10 - 15 seconds when you download a file from email/Google Drive folder etc. which I am not fond of and think that Dell should keep the seamless connectivity the same as their previous docking stations. I wish the Dell Thunderbolt Dock – WD19TBS had more USB connections and 1 more HDMI port connection to it. I have to use it as the XPS Dell laptop comes with only 1 USB and 1 USB Type C port on it. So it is a must to use and deal with the technology imperfections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meh Meh, it's alright. Sucks that it doesn't have another USB-A port, but I knew that going into the problem. There is an obvious refresh rate problem with the monitor to which I have this thing connected...the lines/letters on the screen sometimes look wiggly. I know that the monitor has worked correctly before but this is the second Dell docking station with which I have experienced the problem. Other than that, it's good.

I was able to purchase a mount from Dell as well and placed it under my desktop to clear up clutter. I recommend this product

I was very excited to get this docking station so I could hide all my printer, monitor and ethernet cables and just have one cable coming from a compartment under my desk to my laptop. But the Thunderbolt cable provided with the docking station is too short - it is only about 32 inches long. The docking station works great, but I had to put it right behind my laptop and still have all the cables showing on my desk. Now I have to spend time and money finding and purchasing a thunderbolt extender. Wish the cable was longer. 3.5 or 4ft would be great.

I am always worried the USB C plug will break off. Preferred the old docking stations compared to these new generation of USB C docks.

It will allow me to operate multiple monitors and use the extra ports. But if you need to restart your computer it causes a hard start. I tested it with my older laptop and it worked perfectly. 3 stars due to it not working with my Alienware.

Dell replaced them, but the downtime associated with the end user's and then IT having to trouble-shoot with Dell, etc., Dell should have recalled them all. The problematic, cheap design of the cord leads to connectivity issues with the network and peripherals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meh. The one HDMI port doesn't seem to work 100% of the time. It's flaky. The Display Port seem to lose connection when your laptop goes into sleep from time-to-time. That is also flaky. I tried it with just regular laptop > USB-C > Displayport (eliminating the dock from the equation) and that worked better than the dock. Is it worth the extra $? Meh. The two major benefits were the use of one USB-C connection and the power button.

It allows our laptop PCs to become fully functional desktop computers, and allows a number of different desktop arrangements. It also works equally well with our Mac laptops. I would recommend this dock to anyone looking for a USB dock

I've had zero issues with this Thunderbolt dock, it's been a pleasure from the point that I plugged it up along with both monitors and all other ports utilized. With both of my 27-inch monitors, I also have the luxury of the laptops screen as my 3rd monitor, no glitches, no loag, everything works great as of this review.

We have had countless Mainboards replaced because of the port becoming unstable when connected to a dock. The time it takes for a dock to arrive has been up a 6 month waiting period as well.

Adding this dock to my Latitude 7520 has allowed me to get the cable macrame in my office under control. Now I just have one thing to attach and all my monitors, peripherals, and power connections are sorted.

Unfortunately it does not have a direct VGA connector so an adapter had to be purchased, and there's only one HDMI connector. In addition, there is no user manual or guide so one has to go to the website to see the details of all the connector ports.

This Dell Dock works great right out of the box equally well with Dell Laptop and MacBook Pro. Initially, I got this for work laptop to connect to the Dell 34” Curved Monitor, network, dongle for the Dell Pro Wireless Keyboard & Mouse and external Hard Drive. I decided to try it with my personal MacBook Pro, that I bring to work once in a while. Thunderbolt 3 cord is about 18 inches long so it is plenty of reach. The power button is a nice addition. Now I can simply plug in the main Thunderbolt 3 cable, that comes out of the dock, into either the MacBook Pro or the Dell Latitude 9520 and all of peripherals connected to the dock work with either laptop. At the same time either laptop can be charged, as Dell Thunderbolt Dock- WD19TBS supplies more than enough power to do so. This is fantastic! This docking station is an excellent addition to my desk setup.

The other issue is the limitation on max refresh rate when using a faster display, even when only using 1 display, the ports are capped at 60hz.

If you use the USB-C port to connect to a monitor (like the Dell monitor that has camera and mic built in, which requires the USB-C connection, then the HDMI port doesn't work. That's not a big deal since there are at least two DisplayPort ports, and you can use a DP to HDMI cable instead. However, this has confused every user I have who has tried to set things up, and should be made far more clear in an expensive docking station.

This dock is reasonable cost and allows the necessary connections to make your laptop more useful with non-Thunderbolt devices from external hard drives to flash drives. Also a means for connection to an external display. Appears well made. Weight is significant.
