Buy something else
It works OK but the software is not very good. It doesn’t accept file descriptions very well. Too many limitations. Cannot use periods or commas or dashes. It’s also rather slow

So far, so good!
I was nervous about buying this scanner as I was used to our ScanSnap that we'd had for years. But Fujitsu stopped supporting updates for it and it was no longer compatible with our apple software. I was a bit miffed with Fujitsu as our scanners still worked well otherwise. When I started looking, I started with Costco as I trust them explicitly and figured if I hated the scanner I could take it back to Costco, no questions asked.
It arrived in good time and I set it up easily. The software was easy to install. I was SO impressed with how easily it feeds the paper through, even folded paper (if you have it on that setting.) I used to always run into issues with the ScanSnap.
The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars, instead of 5, is that the ScanSnap would open my Finder window each time I scanned something to allow me to choose where to save the file. This one has you choose one specific file they get saved to, and then you have to go into that file and move it afterwards. It wasn't a huge deal. I just scanned everything first, then went into that file, renamed the files, and moved them where I wanted them saved.
So far, I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

Fantastic Scanner
I needed a second scanner at my apartment close to where I work. I bought the scanner from Amazon but it was an Epson refurbished scanner which was a great deal. At home I had Neat scanner. The Epson is extremely compact. Took only a few minutes to set up. No connection problems with my laptop. In two days of heavy scanning, the Epson was twice as fast as the Neat (duplex, color, etc - didn't matter) and jammed only once when I failed to remove a staple. My Neat scanner jams one out of 15 times it seems like. The software was easy to use and there were a lot of options I haven't gotten into yet. There were a couple of things that the Epson could do better. There is no guard for the paper loading tray. Some flimsy paper and paper with heavy folds would fall forward and disengage from the rubber wheels. I would prop up the front of the scanner to cause the paper to lie flat in the tray. Also there is no button on the scanner to execute the scan. You have to load the tray and then click using the mouse. Another thing I noticed is that PDFs from the Epson seem to be larger than PDFs from my Neat even though I'm scanning at about the same resolution. Might be an option I haven't discovered yet. Also Neat has/had a convenient "file cabinet" setup/format and and it must have a proprietary compression technology because the non-PDF files are very small but can't be read without the software. Neat no longer supports the hard-drive version of the software and is trying to push users to the cloud with a subscription. Once I convert all my Neat files to PDF, I will probably retire it and use just the Epson. Overall, a great scanner.

Great Features, easy to install and navigate
I bought this a week ago from Costco. After a carefull read of lots of review both on the Costco website as well as on other platforms. Considering lots of plus and minuses, I thought this will serve my purpose after my last all in one gave up on me after almost 20 years.
I am glad I have selected this scanner for my purpose. It is serving the purpose for now and I have still to avail all the features. Will update the rating once had more time to review the product.

Wonderful home/business item!
I'm pretty loyal to Epson products when it comes to printing and scanning. I could not be happier with this wonderful scanner. I have used it frequently while trying to refi my home. I was using a scanning app, awful! My printer scans, but not multiple pages. This item was so easy to set up and is very compact. Love it!

Works well but a bit cumbersome
This is a very nice machine, especially at this price point. The only downside is that you can't "quickly" scan to pdf. There a lot more steps involved than I would have preferred. With my old Neat scanner I just pressed one button and it was direct to pdf. This takes more steps. Other than that, I think it is a great scanner.

Easy to use
Purchased the scanner on the advice of family who have a similar one. It is very easy to set up, including the software. The software makes it easy to set "rules" so you can easily scan and save many different types of documents (one sided, two sided, two sided where you want to rotate the pages, save to folder, save to Evernote, etc.). I was able to easily scan a lot of documents in a short period of time. It folds up into a relatively compact size, easily able to sit on a shelf or desk for when you need it next.
My only disappointment was that I thought it was wireless, but that was likely due to me not reading carefully through the product information and not fault of the scanner itself.

Excellent document feeding
This was purchased to use in our second home. The one thing I miss, as I use ScanSnap in our other home, is the ability to have the capture software prompt me for a filename and destination folder. This adds additional steps to managing the output. Other than that, the scans are excellent quality and the speed is adequate. Also a great scanner for the price.

A real time saver
I have been scanning tax and other documents and then shredding them to free up space in our safe. I've been using an Epson flatbed scanner until I purchased the DS-410. I would have taken me at least 30 minutes to scan what I've just finished but with the DS-410, less than 5 minutes. And the DS-410 can do both sides at the same time and save as .pdf file.

Very nice scanner
The scanner does both sides in one pass, works reasonably fast and doesn't take up a lot of space. The infeed guides adjust down to sales receipts and it worked well when I tried a single receipt. The only thing more that I could ask is that the Document Capture Pro software allow me to set the destination and name of the file immediately after I scan a document. That would save me lots of steps where I have to move and rename the document into the filing system.

Good so far.
Good small scanner. Paper feeds well. Descent image at 600 dpi, 300 not so good, but that's not the scanners fault. I haven't figured out how to get the quick scan button on the unit to process the scan at 600 dpi instead of 300.

Excellent performance and value
Works extremely well for document archival. Scan speed is outstanding. Color rendition and clarity are acceptable for other than very high end photo archival. Unlike some negative reviews, this scanner does not jam, provided the manufacturer's guidelines are adhered to. Documents that have been folded or damaged should be either copied first, or fed one sheet at a time; but this is a general caveat with ANY scanner using an ADF.

Pretty good scanner
The scanner is as simple as it can get. I just have to flip my document upside down & inside out. Then push the scan button. The PDF is in the folder so I can rename & move it to where I need it to be. I scanned a paper smaller than A1 & it works out well. It's just side ways so not much problem. I haven't scanned a thicker paper / things like ID or credit card.
The only sad part is that it can't connect to a non-USB computer. I just have to use an adapter but I haven't tried it yet. Hope it works!

Keeps Disconnecting
Don't understand why I have to re-install software EVERY TIME I use it. WHEN it works, it's great... when it works, but this time, I turned it on and it did not duplex the scan, and when I tried to use again, I got the same "Unable to communicate with the scanner. Make sure the scanner is connected to the computer and turned on.
Do you want to check the connection settings?" When it already is connected. I unplug, re-start, shut down, uninstall, re-install, and this time, it will not scan AT ALL!

Scan Happy
I have had the Epson DS 410 for a couple of weeks now. At work and at home i have been a digital guy for years. Although my HP Envy has a scanner with a document feeder it still could not do batch scans well. The Epson does. I started with old business files and after a few familiarization tries, i was off to the races. Only complaint is the power cord system. I would have preferred not to have a transformer to plug in and hide.

I have hardly used it so far, basically just to see how it works. I would agree with some others reviews that the software is not really user friendly. Takes a bit to figure it out as I didn't want all docs in one PDF. It probably took me about an hour to figure it all out. I really think there could be better help videos, and I would expect more from Epson.
