The 61XL cartridge is difficult to find in office supply stores in this area. HP online had that item as both single, or double pack at a slightly lower price. Package arrived on time.

However, I like ordering on-line because you don't have to go across town to get it and it comes in a couple of days. But, not this time. I ordered on a Sunday and expected it Tuesday or Wednesday. Well, on Thursday I got a card in the mail to go to my post office to get it which I did on Friday. So, I had to wait and I had to go out to the post office. Hmmmm . . . Oops, I just read that I can't write a review of shipping issues so please forward to Customer Service. I just went there and to wade through all that info is way too much trouble for me right now. I have no review because I just bought ink.

The error message on my printer said 'defective black cartridge'. in subsequent days while I waited for a replacement to be delivered from another vendor, it worked sporadically, but never longer than part of a day.

Even if I try to refill a previously used HP cartridge, my printer won't recognize it, so I have settled on just using the larger size everytime.

Notes: Don't mess with the refills. Just buy the XL cartridge. You won't save enough money refilling the old one to make up for the inevitable problems (print quality, leaks, spills, etc.). If you are printing hundreds of pages, you will want a different printer anyway.

In past years I have tried customer filled cartridges and "reconditioned" cartridges none of which were satisfactory. I decided to try brand name replacement. I used to be "thrifty" buying smaller cartridges to get my printer going again. Then I realized that by spending less that twice the price to get more than twice the ink makes a lot more sense. Being a small business every penny spent is scrutinized - the amount of printing that can be accomplished by the HP 61XL Black Ink Cartridge has been phenomenal! I purchase the XL because I do a large volume of printing, but the regular ones do last, also. I tried the "refill" store once, and will never do it again. HP has competitive pricing, sometimes even less than the "refill" store; HP offers free shipping, and my cartridges arrive in about 2 days. Enough said.

Printer finally would not print anything over a two day period. Had to go through hardware and software troubleshooting to get a replacement. Terrible, and I had to buy a new cartridge at the local store, a half hour drive away, while waiting for new cartridge to be delivered.

The quality of the black ink is so good that I choose not to purchase color (I swear its not due to the fact that I am cheap and my kids would constantly blow through the colored ink by printing out pictures). This product is a must have for any printer enthusiast. Even if it doesn't fit into your current printer, keep it and collect them all.

I print a lot of PowerPoint slide notes for school and go through ink really fast. This cartridge has way outlasted the standard ones. I am very disappointed as most everything I buy is HP and when I was just printing and it popped up that I was low on ink my first thought was "WOW that sure didn't last as long as it should of, it was no more pages than the regular size cartridge" I guess I just continue to buy the regular size because 2 of them is still $2 cheaper than the XL and I will get more pages out of it.

They are less expensive than even our best discount store, and they last much longer than the standard cartridge. Also, I usually have a $10 off coupon or sometimes even more, so this gives me more savings. I really like the recycling envelope that is sent with my purchase. After I have used about 4 cartridges, I just pop them in the bag and drop it in the mail. That's really kind of a nice thing to do.

I purchased a new HP printer for a very low price about 4 months ago and have already spent 3 times more on ink than on the printer. It does seem that if a printer can be designed and manufactured for a good price that the cartridges could last longer. I'm sure HP expects to make their money off the cartridges and they certainly do.

I was buying from discount websites for ink, but I became frustrated with the cartridge being empty or half full. Since I have been buying direct from HP, every cartridge that I have received has been the highest of quality. You couldn't pay me to go back to used and refilled cartridges. If you want the highest quality then go to HP for the highest satisfaction

It is important to have a good quality print and the 61XL costs a little more but the cost off sets the abibity to have a much longer period of usage. I will only get the 61XL from now on.

There is no way to rate these two new cartridges and I am not happy having spent $73. bucks! After calling customer support @HP, agent told me that I would receive an email ,to follow directions, for getting a full refund. Well, I still have NOT received this 'refund email'. As with any ink supply, you always wish it could print more pages but you do get to a physical limit. I am using this in a printer that has come from very light use to daily 50 page use. No problems. It will be interesting to see how long the printer lasts! The ink supply is not a worry!

I figured it would cost more and I would have to pay for shipping and wait a week to get my ink deliverd to me. I was wrong! I nomally just buy the standard 61HP ink cartridge and have to go through about one in a month in order to print off papers and work for graduate school. I was really excited to see that I could get more than double the amout of copies for almost the same price. I was thrilled to be able to have my ink delivered withough having to pay for shipping which saved me time and money.

The A-M cartridges either don't work properly or they don't hsve the ink capacity of the genuine HP. I will in the future stick with the genuine cartridges for both my HP printers.

I only use this unit for personal use so there was really no reason for this. This has never happened to me before. I am assuming that the ink that comes with the unit is not quite full to capacity. I HOPE this is the reason.

Upon entry into my printer, I followed the instructions to only find out that the cartridge didn't performed in a manner which I thought. It printed in the lightest ink continuously. I was not happy as I had a lot of documents to print. I will be taking it back for a replacement. More like the 61 size. Without adding the XL.

This is the cartridge for me as most of my printing is done in black. Team this with a standard Tri-color cartridge and it is the perfect fit for me.

Apparently there was a communication malfunction between my Mac which runs Lion and the printer which are connected by a USB cable. If I didn't shut the power off, my new ink cartridge would would now be empty. HP tech support was terrific. Has anyone had a similar problem?

My only concern is the software that measures the Ink supply does not seem to adapt well to the high yield cartridges. I had to keep stopping printing to check to see how much more ink I had.

Thought I would do a price & page comparison and the XL hasn't consistently given me anywhere near 480 pages while the Standard has and sometimes exceeded the 190 amount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problem with color cartridge When I installed the black cartridge it canceled out my color cartridge telling me it was not an approved HP cartridge it was you can see it on my purchase records it was indeed a HP color cartridge. Now I cannot print in color since I had to take out the color cartridge.

My experience with HP has been terrible since I first received the 'incompatible cartridge' warning with my all-in-one 5530 Envy printer. The one time I was able to get to a virtual chat, I was sent the wrong printer cartridge. I haven't been able to get to a live person at all. I will be ditching this product and this company.

This happens every once in a while and company admitted that it does. Very expensive for those kind of failures. Most of time I have been very happy with the HP ink. I usually didn't purchase the more expensive ones because I heard they really didn't last that much longer for the price, but after using the high yield black and tri color I must admit that I passed the normal yield and still have a nice reserve according to my level gauge.

However, the ink seems watered down, so the print doesn't have that sharp finished quality. The dollars saved on refill options are not worth the poor quality print on your documents. That "average" for features is because there could be more ink in the cartridges. I am an adult student. I print a lot of papers. Older professors still like hard copy; and I too prefer hard copies of my research materials. But back to the HP Ink Cartridges, my printers love them and so do I.

I pulled out the old black cartridge and somehow broke the printer - some wire came loose - and the black ink would not install. The color ink ran out soon after and I GINGERLY removed that cartridge and replaced it as well - both refused to work again. I have had HP printers for a decade and this is the first time I have ever killed a printer trying to change the ink.

Even worse, you have to align the page. that can take half a ream of paper and half the ink b/c it will okay the alignment and the next day say you have to align all over again then when the ink is half way used up, it will tell you that the ink you bought directly from HP is counterfeit. I hate the printer. I hate the ink I have to change constantly and I HATE ALIGNING THE PAGE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER OVER AND OVER AND OVER ETC ETC ETC

This is VERY unusual for this to happen to me, because I generally can make each of the black and color inks last about 2 months. During those 2 months, I use each AND every day too! I do not know if I got a "bad egg" in the batch, but I REALLY am not very happy. I will not be able to place another order for a couple of weeks, and by then, I will have SO MUCH work that I will not have been able to print! I am wondering if I should just buy some ink from Walmart, because I KNOW they would have exchanged it and made it right. I rely on both the black and color inks for business AND personal use daily, and I am the only one that uses the printer. I bought the larger size because I thought it would last longer! Anything you could possibly do to make this right, would be very appreciated because other than this incident, I had planned on being a long time customer. Thank you for your quick response,

In the past I have purchased from local office supply stores. Not always the best option because they have been "out of stock" on more than one occasion. No other option I have used in the past compares to the quality and service of my internet direct purchasing experience. Not to mention discounts that are offered from time to time make the purchase very competitively priced. I have purchased remanufactured cartridges form other companies and there have been 5 out of the 6 cartridges not work even though they were designated as workable for a certain copy machine. That is frustrating! HP products have never done that to me..... The price could be better but they do work....

We put both in at the same time(we have used these before) but unfortunately the black barely made it to 200 pages and they are suppose to be double that. So I called customer service and they made it right. That is why we will continue using hp products, they have been great and the one time we had an issue they made it right without any hassle. I may pay a little more for the items but the customer service, performance of the products and overall quality out weigh the cost. I liked the free shipping and the 2 business day delivery time but when I started printing I run out of ink after printing only 187 pages. This is less than what the regular 61 is rated (Up to 190 pages). On the web site the 61XL is rated to print up to 480 pages. The last 61XL I used printed more pages. Guess they didn't get enough ink in this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Twin pack -only one cartridge worked I recently purchased a twin-pack of 61XL black ink cartridges. The first one that I installed had no ink at all. I ran 4 test prints, but only the color ink printed. I cleaned the print head to no avail. I removed it and shook it and there was no sound and no ink on the cartridge opening. I loaded the other cartridge and it printed right away. Normally, I have never had a problem with these cartridges. I threw out the return label when I received the package. I will contact HP to get a return label and replace the empty cartridge.

Mine printed ~120. 1/4 of what it said it would! I am very frustrated by this and now I have to buy another $35 cartridge to accomplish my task. Ridiculous. Do not advertise something you can't live up to. It was just black and white printing.

I tried other web sites that sale them, but I was never satisfied. Therefore I came back to HP. Unfortunately, for the past 2 months the print cartridges I have gotten have not lasted as long (neither the black or multi-colored ones). I am very, very disappointed. I am a senior and often does work out of my home. I don't get many discounts on print cartridges and have found, overall, that they become expensive because of the amount of printing I do. I just want to say - as much as I love these cartridges, I am disappointed and hope the next ones will produced like they use to. Sandria Duncan

After all, I have a HP printer so why not streamline and not take chances on an inferior product, delivery system, or false information...right? The cartridge installation was literally a "snap"! Immediately, the printer recognized the new cartridge and started initializing with very easy prompts to follow set-up and print quality tests. I have the HP ENVY 5530 printer and the HP 61XL cartridge works fine. The XL is for extended, meaning you will be able to print more pages. This was my best value for the money. HP products have never disappointed me. I expect more of the same with this purchase.

The defective product was made in Malaysia. This has happened several times now. The cost of new cartridges i too high to find defective cartridges. I will be glad when I replace the entire printer. have 2 HP computers, work great but due to this will never buy anything HP again. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could be better! I always use HP61XL ink cartridges in my HP Officejet 4630 printer which I purchased on 03/12/2014. Perhaps the printer may have to be replaced soon and may be contributing to my problem--which is the ink cartridge not lasting as long as I expect it to. This is confirmed by the "Ink Level" on the printer indicating that the ink cartridge is over half full yet the message on the printer indicates that the ink cartridge must be replaced and the quality of the printed page is not acceptable. Replacing the ink cartridge solves the streaky printing so I have to assume that the ink cartridge is the cause.

I don't like being forced to buy new printers because mgr doesn't want to continue to support them. When my HP printer dies, will likely look at other brands.

The next day 8/24 after an hour I figured out that the brand new color cartridge that came with the printer ha failed. I had ordered a back up when I purchased this pig of a printer and that worked. However, the printing is terrible. I tried to clean the heads and reset the printer, still terrible and un useable copies. I want my money back some way to return the printer to you.

I order and it comes the next day. How great is that? I never have a problem all the years that I have had my HP printer.

I've been using both the HP61black and color cartridges for several years on two differend priters in our home and one in our RV and have always been satified with HP ink products. Since I can no longer scan from the printer to my computers, I will shortly be replacing these printers with possibly a different brand.

Did not have the time or the desire to run to a store 15 miles away to purchase a new cartridge . I found ordering through HP is the most economical solution for us and shipping was fast. I will be using HP for all our supplies in the future. Dave.

Not only did the CSR assist me in confirming that I was indeed making the correct purchase, she suggested how I might ensure I order the correct cartridge in the future.
