But the price of ink for this printer and the number of pages you get from each cartridge are just the worst I've seen. I've been a brand-loyal HP customer for decades but I do not intend to buy an HP printer again.

High cost/
The quality of the color is great but they never last as long as claimed. I don't print whole pages in color, they are typically small line graphs w/ color coded legends. These are expensive catridges so given its short life, it's value is lower than i would expect. Cheaper versions on the website work but if HP knows how to detect copy-cats it then uses software to block its use.

Since installing this HP cartridge, my printer could not copy in color, only a pale bluish-green. On darker setting, this again happened with color.a bit darker. How can I return this for some workable cartridge. Frankly, I am very disappointed.

I installed this and went through the set up and it was o.k. I didn't use the color for a while and when I did the message came up that it was not installed correctly, I removed it and reinstalled it and got the same message. I still had the old one that was almost empty and reinstalled it and it was fine, therefore this is a faulty one. I have tried all the phone numbers and online help and have not been able to either talk to someone or chat! I

Can’t use the ink
I had to move right after I ordered the ink. Trying to get printer working after the move, I found out my printer is obsolete and I can’t use the ink. Bought a new hp printer and the 63 ink is not compatible with any printer I could buy. So I’m supposed to get some ink from you to replace that ink.

Excellent genuine HP quality ink cartridge.
I tried using some of the refilled cartridges in my printer, but either they don't print correctly or they only last a couple of months at best. I do not print a lot, but others in the house like to print things like recipes, trip reservations, etc. The HP cartridges last over a year, and always print high-quality pages.

It all turned out alright in the end and the actual purchase/delivery of the item was a breeze. But that was only after a long learning curve trying to isolate the specific problem and then there was the problem of finding the correct ink cartridge for my device.
I'm on the HP Instant Ink subscription plan which has HP monitoring my ink cartridge levels and automatically sending me replacement cartridges as needed. It works pretty well. But the problem I had was not that my color ink cartridge needed replacement due to a low ink level.
My specific problem was that I needed to replace my color ink cartridge because I had popped something off the new color ink cartridge I was installing into my printer, thus rendering this new color ink cartridge useless.
The printer recognized there was a problem with this color ink cartridge but because the problem had nothing to do with a low ink level, HP did not recognize this as a cartridge needing replacement or that I needed a brand new cartridge.
With a malfunctioning cartridge and then an empty cartridge slot, I assumed HP would recognize I needed a new cartridge. HP knows exactly how many pieces of paper I use to print each and every day. HP knows exactly when my ink cartridges need replacement. each and every month. Surely, why would HP NOT know I have an ink cartridge here that's malfunctioned and that needs to be replaced or fixed?
It appeared they did not know. I didn't realize this until several months had gone by and I had received several shipments of replacement cartridges from HP but all of them were black ink cartridges, none color.
I would finally figure it out. It was frustrating, time-consuming, expensive. It all turned out fine and alright in the end but why did I have to go through all this?
But if not me, then who?

Low ink levels after two printouts
I installed this XL color cartridge two weeks ago. I have made exactly three 8x10 prints on glossy photo paper. After the second print, my printer is warning that my color ink is low. I don't know if this is a problem with the cartridge or a problem with the printer, but I have no idea how many more pages I'll be able to get out of this cartridge. But for $45, I would expect it should be well over 3 pages. I can't keep up with an average cost of $15 per page. It's probably time for a different brand of printer.

I bought this printer back in June and when it said I need to replace the ink it did not say which one. So I took a chance and only replaced the black ink and so far everything seems to be ok. My other HP printer would tell me which ink needed to be replaced. I do like my HP products. Got an error message tonight but that didn't tell me anything so had to shut it down. Hope it works when I try to print again.

What's to review? These are ink cartridges. The printer won't work without them. They are not warm and fuzzy, they do not increase my bank account, they don't give me a high they simply supply ink to the printer when I want the printer to function. The printer did not tell me it was thrilled and had sensuous feelings when the cartridges were inserted. The printer is not a sentient being and I did not insert the cartridges into myself to see whether or not there would be any glorious afterglow.

Unfortunately I don't buy my cartridges to use within 30 days (the return period) because I like to have what I need on hand for when I get low. This cartridge is defective. It's installed correctly and I've installed and reinstalled it a dozen times - defective. No recourse because it's outside of 30 days. Now where am I supposed to buy a legitimate cartridge that works if I can't get one directly from HP? Not cheap either. Unhappy.

I used to buy remanufactured cartridges and although they were cheaper, I had problems with them. I never get those cartridges again, only now the original. Maybe they cost more, but I don't have to worry if my printer don't recognized them.

Wrong printer cartridge
I'm sure the ink is fine, but the catridge was not compatible with my printer. Since HP direct initiates the need to order ink. I made the assumption that it also knew what cartridge my printer requires, not the case. And no refund because I opened the packaging so I'm out $90+ dollars

I count on HP cartridges
When I need ink cartridges I go straight to HP because I never had any problems with that brand. I have had a few problems with refurbished ones and won't go that route anymore. They may be cheaper, but it's not worth it if your printer does not accept them or if they last less than expected.

About the mailing packaging.
I have not opened the cartridge yet as it's backup for the one I just installed but wanted to mention the mailing pkg was badly dented & part of the stuffing was leaking out. The cartridge box was pinched a little but doesn't appear to have hurt the cartridge inside. Thought you'd want to know.

HP 63xl ink cartridges or for that matter HP 63 ink cartridges are too expensive. Ink quality is okay. HP has limited the options available to HP Ink Jet printer owners as to what ink cartridges that may or may not use be used in their printers.

I bought a HP Officejet 3830 printer last March just as the Pandemic hit, and I gotta tell you how essential it has been to be able to print, scan, copy and faxed my projects that I do for my church, and my American Legion organization. I do a monthly newsletter for the Legion and recently our pastor celebrated his 2nd year anniversary on February 28th. I keep having trouble with the cartridge - the ink is not flowing and it seems to be dried up. I have cleaned the terminals manually and using the HP printer app. The black seems to be the one that works best although not as well as it should for a brand new cartridge.
I thought it was wise purchasing directly from HP but it that turned out not to be the case

This poor review is not about the product, it's about the HP website interface. I have HP Smart set up on my computer and it is very good at letting me know when my ink is depleted. However, when I visited the HP website to order new ink cartridges, it was not clear which ink was compatible with my Officeject Pro 8600 and the search function was not working properly. If HP Smart were, in fact, "smart" I would expect to be directed to replacement cartridges that are actually compatible with my printer, since it knows what printer I have along with the exact amount of ink left in the cartridges. In frustration and pure laziness on my part, I ordered the 63XL which was the fist thing that popped up. When the 63XL arrived, it was clearly incompatible with my printer, so I went to Office Depot to buy the right cartridges.

Surprised by the lack of yield on the XL
I purchased the HP 63XL tri-clor cartridge because I was printing a large project involving quite a few prints. I was printing them on 4x6 HP glossy photo paper. Most of these images are not huge in size and mostly old black and whites with a few color prints. I was a bit shocked to realize I am out of the tri-color after only 80 prints. And my black cartridge is still full. My settings were for normal prints on HP photo stock. Not sure how they advertise 330 pages or am I missing something here?

For many years when I was in the inked ribbons and ink cartridge business, I was exposed to the good and bad of original vs. compatible products. My company turned lower priced offers from manufacturers of compatable inked products because of the feedback from users. Now in my retirement, I use nothing but "original HP" ink cartridges on my two printers due to the consistent high quality I get from the extended life cartridges.

HP should find a better shipper than Canada Post it took 24 days to come from Ontario to Vancouver Island. It was stuck in Vancouver for 10 days. I had other items from other companies shipped from Ontario by Purolator ( part of Canada Post ) that arrived in 7 day's both free shipping. Wake up HP change your shipper.

I have been emailing back and forth with HP rep and still saying it’s under investigation. Even trying to say it was Canadian Post fault, but they do not pack the delivery parcels, they just pick up and deliver

Ink Cartridge incompatible message on printer
Inserted a new black high yield cartridge and got a “cartridge incompatible “ error on my printer. Spent a hour on the phone with HP customer service and received no resolution to this issue. These cartridges are pricey and I want a n/c replacement. Maybe my next printer will be a Canon.

Only buy genuine HP ink. Got re-inked cartridges once from Costco and returned them because my HP printer would not print with them. Now buy genuine ink at Costco although last time the one I needed was not available and the saleman said they are phasing out of ink products. So online to buy direct from HP or Walmart - both have the best prices. With COVID online shopping is the way to go.

Bought this printer at the beginning of our ‘work-from-home’ during the pandemic. It worked for a full 3 days (maximum usage 3-4 times/day for lass than 5 pages each. Then didn’t. 3 people tried for about 6 hours total to troubleshoot and then gave up. Run, don’t walk, in the other direction. Brother Laserjet is the answer!

I was very pleased with the delivery and the quality of the product, but I purchased this high yield product just so I could print the documents I needed for starting my small business, I was ecstatic that this product printed up to 480 copies ONLY to be disappointed with this cartridge printing ONLY 245 copies of just your everyday regular documents. I made sure of keeping track of every copy I made, so sorry to say I am not a happy customer. I did call customer service and was told that this cartridge did just as it says up to 480 copies and that the best HP would do for me was give me 15% off my next $40. cartridge purchase, I was in a bind and had really no choice but to purchase another high yield cartridge and will be closely keeping track of all those copies as well.

That dreaded ding... The alert pinged my computer as I attempted to print my paper for school. I ignored it, pleaded with the HP Officejet 5200 series freeloading space waster to print anyways. "For me, please? I promise I'll feed you later. Just one more!" It groaned to life, and began sucking and tutting my cheap discounted almost white paper through. "Tutt...tutt... pfffft..." At last, my work was complete. But wait... Argh! The dreaded grey out with white lines! I cannot turn in a paper like this! I tried again, reprimanding and slapping the poor machine for its shoddy performance. In response, it tutted, groaned, and shot out a stack of empty papers in a sarcastic reply.
That was it. I was finished. A deadline loomed, and I had nothing but a memory stick to account for my time spent slaving away.
But then, it dinged again. "Yes, I know you're empty... this is useless." That exact moment changed my life forever. My five year old, hopped up on M&M's and the thought of playing Minecraft, knocked into me begging for more screen time. Instead of clicking the "x" to close the notification, the link to HP's website was clicked instead. A holiday weekend sale? Next day delivery? I don't even have to leave my house? It was like the sky opened up, the technology Gods heard my prayers, and sent me a miracle. And... they accept credit card.
The next day... Boom. Package at the door. Installed in minutes. Then I had a sandwich, cause I did good.

I wanted to reorder ink #62 and apparently #63 also shows up on my order form. I don’t know why HP would do that since it doesn’t work in my copier. I wasn’t even aware until I kept getting a message that the copier was (still) out of ink or not inserted properly. I love HP but I think you need to keep products not fit for your particular device off the reorder form.

I have two printers that I tried to unenroll from instant nk. Both stopped printing. Why can't I buy official ink from HP that works in my printers (not instant ink?)

I have used generics before with bad color performance. The HP 63XL produces true color every time. The XL produces more copies so I do not have to reorder as often. I highly recommend the HP XL63.

It's a printer cartridge. It works (only because it's from HP and HP includes firmware that blocks 3rd party print cartridges), otherwise I'd be buying 3rd party carts instead! STOP EMAILING FOR REVIEWS because this is what you'll get.

I ordered these ink cartridges and have no problem with the product.
However, delivery was quoted as 2-4 business days. It went way beyond that.
I'll continue buy genuine cartridges but won't order online any more. Will just go

Won't print in color
I have a 4650 printer, the colored ink will not print, I have had professional's trying to solve this problem, and still can't print in color. Ink is expensive and doing further research on your web site, you have discontinued the HP Officejet 4650 printer....so, not sure I would buy any more HP products. And I am now stuck with ink that won't work!

I always prefer to purchase from the manufacturer but I usually just get my ink from Costco. However, HP was running a promotion and during the pandemic crisis, ordering it from HP was the better bet and it was shipped directly to me within 48 hours. Well worth it and it works great.

my new printer takes this type 63xl. I really like it when inks are by separate cartridges vs all in one like these. as, I seem to run out of one color while all others are still good. This one has lasted about 3 weeks so far. But getting low fast. not sure if this is normal.

Always good ink but I can replace the printer cheaper than the ink- HP really needs to adjust. I know the ink cannot be that expensive and want to stay with HP cartridges, but other companies sell aftermarket at half the cost.

What can one say about ink? Well, it is overpriced but that's why the printers are so inexpensive. It's HP ink on an HP printer and it performs as well as could be expected. I was surprised at the speed of delivery. Lower prices are available elsewhere but I don't buy based on price.

I use both 63 Color and Black XL cartridges. Using XL gives me better yield and less need to change cartridges all the time. As a writer, I do not like being interrupted by frequent cartridges changes, and XL is my solution.

The cartridges came in the mail promptly. But the package didn't include a postage paid bag to send empty cartridges back to HP like our first order did. I was looking forward to this useful solution for recycling them. Hope the next time I order there will be a recycling bag included!

I bought this cartridge recently and I have to admit the colors are not as bright as with my last cartridge and I have to wonder if the quality has been compromised to be high yield. Back when I got the Instant Ink, the cartridges were larger because they were higher yield but I noticed that this cartridge was the same size as the regular yield one that I had last time. Not the worst but could be better
I purchased this printer brand new approximately 2 months prior to learning it has been discontinued. The web site is extremely difficult to navigate when attempting to purchase ink and the ink is extremely expensive for the printer even though it is discontinued. There is also no feed in method when you want to copy multiple pages. Right now the printer is new so it as good print quality, but I expect for that to diminsh over time.

I had bought some of the HP printer ink at WalMart and found out that it was counterfit. I decided that rather than waste money, I would just purchase it directly from HP. So glad I did...never a problem with it being compatible with my printer.

Ink quantity gone down hill - fast
Printing quality for documents and photos is excellent ...
Number of pages printed per cartridge (both tri color & black) now leave a lot to be desired.
I've used HP printers and cartridges for well over 30 years -- Specifically the HP63 for the past 10 or so. While the quality has remained, the volume of ink in each cartridge seems to have dropped dramatically. I even bought the ExLg and did not see any notable difference. Question -- Has HP began cutting corners to increase its bottom line !!!!

Its just HP 63XL Tri-Color printer Ink I bought for my HP Officejet 5255 and does work great and gives you more Ink to print more pages! ...And I do recommend over the standard size HP Ink cartridges which don't last no time!
But! ...For the price if you bought both the Tri-Color XL and Black XL Ink cartridges at the same time you could add a few more dollars to it and buy a nice new HP AIO (All In One) Printer, Scanner and Fax!
And also don't assume the cartridges are going to last un-opened and still in there box until the expiration date on the box as they don't! ...And HP wont do anything about it! ...So if your going to buy them I suggest you use them!
Come on HP get your prices down on Ink cartridges so people like myself can afford them and continue to use genuine HP Ink Cartridges!

I picked up a couple of H&P high-yield“ cartridge for use for my printer it’s so much better than having to change the cartridges so often with the regular cartridges my only problem is with one of the high-yield cartridges it didn’t last much longer than my regular size cartridge this also happened on one of my high-heeled black cartridges also it’s the first time with the high-yield color that I’ve had this problem but the high-heeled black ones this is happened three or four times over the years this printer I’m using is so easy to use and set up I recommended it to a few of my friends and they ordered it and love it especially for the money they had paid three or four times as much as I did for my printer I always spread the wealth of any good purchases I make Like the new computer I bought with this printer

The ink is fine, but the machine uses way to much!
Machine HP 3830 can't compete with a 10 year old 8200 as far as cost of ink and quality. The quality of the 3830 is very good and it handles thick stock better because is has a straighter paper path, but the cost of the ink is horrendous because the amount of ink used. This is based on standard printing, business cards, regular office printing, etc. I tried a few photos and they were very good quality, but the ink use made it too expensive. I could use a high quality photo lab and still come out with less expense.

I like to use HP 63XL ink in my printer. There are a lot of places where you can get non-HP ink cartridges that work for half-price of what the HP cartridges cost. I think the cartridges are great but the cost is exorbitant. I would recommend this product to any of my friends that are rich.

I brought my HP printer six months ago as a replacement for my Epson printer .
The Epson printer ate ink morning, noon and night. The ink dried out, in less than a month. At first I thought someone was using the printer but that was not the case. Fustration set in and I packed up the Epson printer. I looked on line for a good printer and ink selection and HP came up.That was in December 2018. I am just purchasing the new black ink replacement after 6 months. What a difference HP has made in my life

Cartridge error and can’t even use it
I put the cartridge in and printed something. The next time I went to use my printer there was a cartridge error. I went through the whole troubleshooting process to find it’s the black ink cartridge. I just purchased and I don’t have an extra cartridge on hand-so it’s irritating. This has never happened to me when I purchase my cartridges at a wholesale club. I would think buying directly from HP -this wouldn’t happen.

Ran out of ink right in the middle of figuring taxes and related issues. I tried several sources for the ink I needed, but some could not be sure that it wold be compatible, and two other well known companies wanted a password (evidently a long ago purchase was still in their system). Finally went to HP - got straight through - and was told I'd probably receive my order the following Monday. IT CAME FRIDAY! I was delighted! Not the cheapest - just the best!

I always use the XL cartridges and they work very well, but only the NEW ones, not the remanufactured cartridges, which I've experienced leaked or just did not work at all in my printer..

Unfortunately,even though I had an expert try to help,and we managed to take the cover tape off, they still did not work- The contact tapes seemed very gluey- could they have become too hot in the mail? I have asked for a new package but have not received them yet--How soon can I get them? And shall I return the ones I have?

Never had a problem with HP Ink and is easy to put in the printer. I have bought ink at a retail store but you can't always get the XL ink which is best for doing a lot of printing. I love to print recipes and sometimes pictures and this ink is great. The regular 63 ink is not enough for me and the price online is more reasonable than in the stores. They also send a bag to send back the used cartridges. Great job HP for the recyclable bags!

Gets the job done
This printer replaces an 8610 that had print head issues. I loved the 8610, but couldn’t afford a new one. This machine seems low end, slow, and not what I’d call a workhorse. It’s probably better for a more moderate user, but for me it is a disappointment.

The Hp ink I received from HP didn’t work.
I installed as usual when I closed the lid it said install HP ink. I should have taken a photo but didn’t. I’m a 24 / 7 caregiver and don’t have the time to deal with this garbage.

Toner lasts a long time!
I previously owned another brand printer and the toner cartridges did not last half as long as the HP ones and they are less expensive as well. I love the ease of using the HP printer and the auto delivery of the toner.

I'm having trouble deciding if the XL is really worth the extra. I do make copies often but it's a home computer not an office so I wouldn't say I have "excessive use" and they run out waaaaay too quickly! Starting to date when I change cartridges.

My granddaughters both use my printer for school projects. I only order HP ink, and I really like the XL cartridges because they last so much longer than the regular ones. I purchased a new HP Printer, which required the HP63XL cartridges......both were purchased at COSTCO. The original cartridges lasted for a phenomenally long time. When they ran out, I ordered replacement cartridges directly from HP....a rush order. Cartridges were delivered the next day and they, too, are giving long service of excellent quality.

Better than the aftermarket junk
