I purchased the replacement based on what the HP website said I needed to purchase. I plugged this new adapter in and did not receive the error message for about 2 weeks. I threw out the box and the messages once again began to appear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast shipping I thought the power supply was bad on my computer, because it would not charge, The New one did not charge, found out that a Windows 10 update had lock the charger from working and a tech told me to unplug charger from the laptop and hold down the on button for thirty sec. to drain all power, than put the charger back on the laptop, and restart the laptop, and it was charging then, I now have a spare used one that is ok.

I typed in my adapter number and I really had to work at finding a good replacement. I was a little worried about this adapter not knowing if it was the same wattage or not. So I did a leap of faith and tried it. So far it's working and I hope it doesn't cause any problems. I wish HP would make their systems more user friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need Stronger Power Supply I need a stronger power supply for my laptop than the stock one puts out. The stock one was only 45 watts. This one is 90. I run duel screens, an external HDD and some other things. I also replaced the old 1TB 5,400RPM HDD with a 1TB 7,200RPM HDD. And when I was pulling all of that power, the old power supply wasn't strong enough to handle the extra load causing the laptop to drain the battery to get the extra power it needed to work properly. So far it seems to be doing the job. The laptop battery hasn't been draining like it used to. But it's still too early to tell.

I was having trouble with the existing adapter -- the battery just would not charge. So, in desperation, I ordered this one. (used a different computer) When I returned to the laptop an hour later, the battery was fully charged! Now THAT's good performance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Believe the HP Catalog I ordered a new charging cord which works fine but what you don't realize is the information in the catalog isn't correct. Supposedly, you believe you're buying the adapter but in reality you're buying the adaptor and power cord, a complete unit. The catalog is deceptive and suggests you also need to purchase the power cord separately, this was not the case. HP Parts is a complete nightmare to deal with as it's impossible to get to a voice. In the end I purchased two items when only one was needed. I ended up keeping the extra cord as I was done dealing with HP.

The cord is longer than the previous one, which was always come out of its port.The cord goes the lenght of my recliner (in the upright position) and around the 20 by 26 in TV tray, to the opposite side of the laptop still leaving some slack. This adapter is the perfect solution, and I keep it in my computer bag. When I need to use my laptop away from my desk, I simply unplug my original equipment adapter, grab my laptop, stuff it in my computer bag, and I'm good to go wherever. When I return to my desk, I plug my neatly installed original equipment adapter back into my laptop. No muss, no fuss.

I am highly disappointed not only because I spent $65.77 for this charger and it only lasted one year, but because I purposely went with HP to avoid the aftermarket chargers thinking that the original HP charger will have higher quality and longevity. The charger was well taken care of and never abused/thrown around. Again, highly disappointed that for $65.77 it only lasted about one year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laptop not charging? Here's a quick fix. Found my HP Pavilion laptop would not charge even when plugged into an electrical outlet. Swapped out the original HP 45W AC Adapter with this HP 90W Smart AC Adapter and now my HP Pavilion laptop charges when plugged into an electrical outlet, charges fast, and whenever required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works better than the charger that came with the laptop I purchased this charger for my laptop because the 45W unit that came with the device was not keeping up with charging the battery and running the laptop. Also the connection did not seem to alway work. Prior to purchasing this unit I purchased a 3rd party 45W replacement but is was not keeping up with the power requirement to charge the battery and run the laptop, plus it took too long to just charge the battery. This unit does a great job of keeping up with the power requirements. I also like the longer length of the cord to reach a power source.
