Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Wireless Connectivity The unit's wireless connectivity is very poor, particularly the mouse that loses its connections to the USB receiver invariably and requires a reset (tuning the unit off and on or removing and reinserting the batteries. Keyboard also uses its connection at times but the mouse is a real problem. For a combination of keyboard and mouse at this high price point, it is a very disappointing products . I had the product replaced once under warranty but the problem persist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There are differences. Buy HP From everything I had read, all external drives are essentially the same and all are plug and play. So I bought a $25 cheap unit. It was not plug and play. Apparently its best year was the same year Windows 7 was brand new. I returned it to Amazon and bought my HP. Brand new stock manufactured 2 months ago. It works great, while the other unit did not work at all with Windows 10. What more can I say?

I decided to try the note book pro for my business trips so I special ordered one . They don't come with a built in DVD drive so I had to order the one pictured above. It work great for 6 months then I started having problems with the door no closing it just pop back out and the door would not stay closed. Now it doesn't work period and I can't burn important documents. I have request a replacement to no avail. Will HP keep their word? awaiting response!

While talking with the rep I asked whether the unit was equipped with a DVD and he said, "no, but you can order an external one." So, I included one with my order. I received the external DVD in the mail 4 days before the new laptop (that was another fiasco in it's self had to submit two orders to get it right). When the laptop arrives two days after the email I received stating I need to sign for it, wasting my time sitting around waiting for something that never came, it already had an internal DVD. I have never had this much trouble ordering from HP but will be very thought about doing it again.

I just bought a new HP zbook and for some reason it did not include a CD drive, and was advised by HP instead of having one added to my computer, it is just better and cost effective to buy an external driver. I just bought a new Honda CRV and needed to Rip my Cds to the computer and then transfer to a USB port to listen to them to my truck. This driver did everything I hoped it would. For $75 great purchase. I am NOT tech savvy, and even I could do this with a little help from utube tutorials. So happy with purchase, quality of transfer of the CDs was awesome. Thanks to the HP tech that advised me to purchase this driver.

Worked within seconds of plugging in to my POWERED USB hub connected to my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit HP Laptop and having no problems reading and writing to my CD/DVD's. Playing movies, Installing software, Reading and Writing numerous photos, creating system backup disk. This CD/DVD drive is doing it all for me. A sturdily made product. Much better than the less expensive, No-name brands (at least to me) I ended up returning. Well worth the extra cost of other brands, knowing that I have a quality product and should I need support, HP will be there to help.

The sad news is that I bought it because the internal DVDRW drive that came with my recently purchased HP all-in-one PC is not reliable. It is flimsy in its design and you run the risk of the CD falling inside and not coming out. But again, this external drive we are rating is good.

However, it seems to work a lot better than my laptop's internal DVD RW Drive (mostly because my HP laptop's internal hp DVDRAM GU90N DVD RW Drive seems to have quit working). Setting the external drive up was a little tricky because the drive didn't appear in my "This PC" at first. If I recall correctly, wiggling the (included) USB cable (on both ends) resolved the issue. I have used the external drive to listen to an audio CD, as well as play (and later install) a game that doesn't require using the CD-ROM disc (once it's installed on a computer) on my laptop. Although the external drive has done what I have wanted it to do so far, part of me wishes I had bought a replacement internal hp DVDRAM GU90N DVD RW Drive instead. The external drive requires a USB port and (at least for me) desk space. It's also a different color than my laptop, and does not have a security cable slot.

I am now purchasing a replacement DVD drive. Why would any computer manufacturer make a DVD drive that isn't BLU Ray compatible? It's 2021!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Pleasure of Picking Through Physical Media I plugged the drive into my laptop with the cable, loaded and DVD, and it showed up in Video Lab. I watched Gran Prix. Love the cinematography and the sound. To me, it's search to search through my physical media, and then, decide. To me, going out to web, and doing a search at a website is ... kind of like work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Frustrated! I unfortunately have had nothing but problems since receiving my new laptop from HP. I cannot transfer data. I cannot load programs. I have been forced to use my old HP laptop which is now 11 years old and realize I am completely pushing my luck that it is going to crash soon. I have contacted Microsoft and was not able to resolve the issues to get data and programs transferred and loaded. I have also gone to a professional laptop support company who was also unable to get data and programs transferred and loaded. Please advise how I can resolve this incredibly frustrating situation!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you can't say something nice... I'm sure it works fine. If it had came to me with ANY type of operating instructions, is be able to rate better! After an issue I had with HP and my experience with their printers, the last thing I wanted was an HP product in my home! But I digress. It would have been nice to hold a piece of paper explaining the available things it can do. The last thing a consumer should do is have to take time away from set-up, and immediately jump on the web and spend time googling a user manual! I've had this since end of January and only plugged it into my laptop once to make sure it powered up. It's very flat and difficult to insert or eject a disc. It's nice and modern looking. That's all I can truthfully say in regards to the player. HP has been a HUGE let down to me and my family dealing with them. As a double transplant recipient and cancer survivor, this is the last bit of stress I needed.

It is difficult seeing the letters even though I have back lighting. I have to get away from windows or hold it a certain way to see them. Other than that I love it!!!!

The only downside was the packaging - only one pillow to cushion the drive in a big box. The delivery company made a meal out of the shipping box - ripped, dented, and filthy. Luckily, the unit is packed well and came through it with no difficulties.

I don't have much experience with computers so did not know or realize that they don't have any place to insert a disc like my old one computer these days. I have a lot of disc, so this was something I had to have. AND it works. Smooth operation when you press the tiny button to open it and doesn't make a lot of noise when running, just enough to know that is actually doing something. It looks like a regular CD case very slim and does not take up much room on my desk. Also, a shout out to the excellent help from you associate who helped me with this purchase.
