Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality, connectivity, conformity to industry standards Using it mainly with a Dell Latitude 7k running Linux (Ubuntu 22.04) as my main pro+private workstation. Only caveat in this cross-brand setup: the power-button on the dock doesn't work, so if you want the laptop to go to sleep even when connected to the power-supply (I don't), you need open/close the lid to wake it up.

Easy setup - but I received some error messages during the setup of the new laptop the docking station was hooked up to. One was for the insufficient power, which is clearly wrong as the computer power need is on 75% of the dock output, and the second was for my mouse which was not even connected yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's an ok docking device. The Dock is ok. It's slightly bulkier than expected and only has one USB-C port. I had issue with using the Display ports with my monitor. It had issues staying synched. The HDMI ports worked but I am disappointed that the display ports did not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flaky Performance Bought 4 of these for our company. 3 out of the 4 will not work as they should. The docking stations will not maintain connected to ethernet network, monitors, or USB peripherals . Only 1 of the 4 works as would be expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Partially works as desired Although I bought my notebook and the dock at the same time, I don't think the notebook and dock are fully compatible. The USB ports work for an attached keyboard and mouse. The network port works. However, it does not charge the notebook and the HDMI connected monitor does not project. The HDMI port on the notbook projects to the monito but the dock HDMI does not. I spent several hours plugging and unplugging as recommended in troubleshooting. I downloaded drivers and firmware and updated all of those. I used the troubleshooting app/ I looked on the suggested youtube feeds. That's the state I am in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NOT Mac compatible, specs saying otherwise are lies Do not believe when they say it is mac compatible it is NOT. Only allows screen mirroring instead of extending the desktop across monitors plugged into this dock. Also it will randomly cause one of the monitors to turn off so yeah, total trash. I guess it works fine if you have a PC but their specs say that it is compatible with Mac OS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't recommend, cheaper chips inside don't work as good as the other USB-C docks. This dock is cheaper for a reason. The DP ports don't work right. Plugging a DP cable into the DP ports into an Acer monitor doesn't work, but it does work with an HP monitor. I had a different HP USB-C G5 dock, not the essential model and everything works fine on that one, the DP also works fine with an Anker USB-C dock I have. Do not recommend, unless you will only use the HDMI video output.

Terribly inconsistent operation, works fine one time, doesn't work at all next time. Although it does seem like the USB C port on the front does work for charging my phone, so if you are looking for a phone charger this could be an option. Bought a package of docking station and monitors to go with HP laptop. One would think it would be somewhat intuitive and work seemlessly.... but you would be dead wrong in that assumption.

I read in the online description this dock would run 3 high rez monitors and got very excited! Unfortunately, it only runs the two HP monitors provided by my employer. It will not run my personal Acer XB280HK.

Additionally when connected to multiple monitors, one screen goes black at least once per minute sometimes every 20 seconds. other than these 2 flaws, it works good. Before purchasing, please Google "HP USB-C G5 Docking Station problems"

I use it with two AOC monitors, DAS wired keyboard and Microsoft webcam plugged directly into the dock and everything works perfectly and consistently. Definitely money well spent.

Almost any other dock would be better. These are only purchased by people who have a single small monitor, or people who don't understand how bad it is

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with MacBook Air The G5 is a replacement for a more portable docking device for my MacBook Air, which tended to overheat when operating an external disc drive. With the G5 I found I really don’t need the portability, it stays on my desk with accessories connected. An added benefit is my external speakers sound much better through the docking system, so high marks for the DAC in the G5!

To charge the laptop you must use the power adapter (200 watt) that came with the laptop in order to charge...
