IBM Tivoli Continuous Data Protection (CDP) for Files is a data safety net that provides real time backup for important files. It continuously protects information on portable computers, desktop PCs and file servers from viruses, file corruption or accidental deletion.
Tivoli CDP for Files is specifically designed to work well with systems that are intermittently connected to a network.
Tivoli CDP for Files protects important files the moment they change instead of waiting for a scheduled interval. Less critical files are backed up at more traditional intervals. It makes as many as three copies of files and versions them for point-in-time restore. The three target areas are:
• Local disk (allowing for protection even when not connected to a network)
• Network file system
• IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server
Tivoli CDP for Files can interoperate with traditional data protection solutions to help protect an organization’s data by automatically making copies of data locally or over a network.
