surprisingly disappointed
I got this product a few weeks ago and it takes over 15 hours to charge to fully. Everytime I use it to charge my phone it only works for 10 minutes then the battery is immediately drained. I’ve had a few JBLs that usually last me a few years but I may have to return this one even thought the sound quality is great. Not what i was expecting

Overall good speaker.
I've had my JBL Charge 4 for about a month. Sound is good at most levels but is a little Boomy/echo-ish only at full volume. I like my music loud so in hindsight should have purchased one with more watts. *Note was difficult to find how many watts for any JBL products even on their website, as well as Amazon. Pretty important when buying audio device

I love how JBL products can connect with each other. I used them at a networking event and people said the sound came across clear.
As I continue to do more somatic breathwork sessions to support people through grief, trauma, and burnout, I am glad I have two (2) JBL Charge 4s that I can connect while I play music during the sessions.

This fell of the kayak, it floated and still worked perfectly. This is my second JBL I purchased. First one the water would get inside, JBL pulse, but would still work also that one wouldn’t float above the water like the charge 4.

Exactly what I needed
I've only used my JBL Charge 4 a few times so far, but the sound is loud and clear! It's the perfect size to have outside, inside during a small party, or in the backyard when doing yard work. I've used mine at a car wash fundraiser and it was perfect. Loud, clear, and I've had no issue with charging.

Works great, crappy charging port parts
My husband bought this speaker as a gift. It just died after a month of use and I can’t charge it because the charging port broke after the last charge. For the price he paid, I expected at least a years use out of it. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. The sound and battery life are great. It’s unfortunate that the speaker won’t be anything but a paperweight now.

30 unstoppable wats. with the exception of certain types of vehicles (18 wheelers, cement trucks, etc) this sucka blasts over city traffic. i work in walk-in coolers all day and now i don't have to turn the fans off. muwahahaha... just one thing, this baby Needs a lanyard. ;)

Nice Quality, Bad Personalization
I love the product. The bass, volume, and sound quality is phenomenal. I got a custom picture, and within a couple days of light use, the ink started coming off on the picture, so now it has grey spots all over it.

I've owned 3 of flips an they fail after 2 years. I've spent at least $380 over the last 6 years. The offersd me a 30% discount to be quite. Sorry JBL, do better.

Works good. Bought this speaker to use in my 1953 truck so I could have some tunes. Didn't want to mount a radio and speakers in the truck. This is the perfect size for where I wanted to put it. The engine and exhaust is very loud in my truck, but I can still here the music well. The louder you crank the speaker you will start losing bass from it, but again, good for what I wanted.

Very Good box. It allowed me to remove my Sony headset and enjoy the room. I give it only four stars because it did come with the ability to forward tracks like my headset does. I have to touch the phone to do this. Otherwise, it has outstanding sounds compared to its size.

Replaced a Bose soundlink that had usb issues with this unit we prefer it over the Bose in every way. Setup is easy, sound is good, not as good sounding as a home stereo. would recommend.

Good single speaker, but Connect+ feature is trash
As a single bluetooth speaker, the Charge 4 does a great job. it has decent sound quality and fills a room. However, I bought a 2nd Charge 4 to have a stereo pair using the Connect+ feature and the JBL Portable app. I've updated firmware on the devices, removed any other wireless devices that may cause interference, moved rooms, etc. It just will not work properly. In Party/Stereo mode, the speakers constantly cut in and out, crackle, speed up or slow down the audio, etc. My phone (audio source) has no issues with any other bluetooth connection.
This is extremely disappointing, since I purchased the second Charge 4 to replace my two Amazon Echo devices that had similar issues, but the Charge stereo is even worse. I'm now a few hundred dollars down, and have two speakers that work well solo.

Great Product Marred By Dumb Marketing Decision
Purchased two JBL Charge 4s for the wife, the product works fine, the issue I have is it did not include chargers, only the cables, this was different from the JBL Charge 3s we purchased a few years ago. The fact a charger was not included forced my to buy on separately; dumb marketing decision that ruined a perfect review

If you want a good Bluetooth speaker, buy a JBL!
I’ve always loved JBL products. The Charge has always been my favorite Bluetooth speaker. When I learned you can personalize them now I shreeked like a little girl & had to hop on the band wagon. My boyfriend may have laughed for the moment, but I enjoy having a picture of us on it because of how special the speaker is to me now. Thanks JBL! Great quality & sound!

Not Impressed with volume of Charge 4
I bought the Charge 4 three weeks ago and wasn't impressed. I sent it back. It's just a speaker & amp but it doesn't play as loud as my brothers Galaxy S7 phone. I thought the Charge 4 being from JBL a professional speaker company it would have been better sounding & louder than a phone.

I’ve had this speaker for a couple years and it has been awesome! From 3 boys being rough with it to trips to the beach, wouldn’t want anything else. NOTHING though, can compare to what I just put it through though. I left it on an outside job site, over a March weekend in Ohio. Weather was 20 F but felt like 5 F, both nights. And it rained!! When I found the speaker Monday morning it was half frozen to the ground and itself has some ice build up. I put it in the truck for about a hour to warm up and defrost, expecting there to be zero battery. After turning on without hesitation, this speaker was able to play music all day without powering down!!! Would not buy another brand. I wouldn’t be shocked if I have to replace it soon, with what just happened but it’ll be an easy decision which route I’ll choose.

Perfect for my needs
I purchased the JBL speaker to use in my classic cars and at car shows. It has amazing full sound and is perfect for my needs. I also use it when I was my cars outside. It has great volume and powerful bass. I really love this speaker and how affordable it was.

Sound is good although it’s not as good as the flip 5. Connecting the charge 4 and flip 5 for party mode I’ve not been able to achieve yet… tried using instructions and the app with no success.

JBL used to be my favourite speaker. After i bought JBL charge 4 my whole opinion about JBL and their customer service has changed because they have the worst customer service ever. Whatever you may say what they reply is that it's there on their policy page. I know that it's there in the policy page what I as a customer expect is to understand my problem from my point of view. I haven't got the reply that I was expecting.

Crappy sound
I thought this would be a good speaker based on the reviews, but honestly the sound quality sucks. Really bad. I get why some people think it might be ok, but when you try to push the volume, it shows that it's just a tiny useless bluetooth speaker trying to be advertised as something better.

The best deal going
I received this speaker about a month ago as a birthday gift. It is a great speaker, has to be the best deal going. I used to have a more expensive bluetooth speaker from a well known brand (rhymes with "nose"), but this little JBL is the superior product. It is louder, the sound is clearer, the charge lasts longer, and it was about 1/4 of the price. Would highly recommend.

Love JBL sound
I purchased the Charge 4. It was a better price than the Charge 3 at the time. I have 2 Charge 3 units.
It sounds good as JBL always does. I think that the bass on charge 3 actually sounds better.
Maybe because it's a more compact unit. I never can get them to go in stereo mode or link mode.
Also the app is useless. My best use is just turn it on, it auto connects to my I pad and play music right away.
I am a audio professional and always depend on JBL.

The speaker was shipped to me in a factory box without warranty info or user guide and no charging cable. In addition, I chose the Amazon payment plan because I had a cedit balance with Amazon but it wasn't used.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. We have both been pleased with the performance and sound quality of the Charge 4. The bass and clarity of the speaker is very good. As a bonus, it was a great sale price.

Ordered the JBL charge 4 as a Christmas gift. First of all the device won’t even stay on unless you physically hold the power down at all times. Second the sound quality is complete trash. The crackle is insane when barely turned up. Do better JBL. For what they want to charge and to sell such trash products is insane.

Impressive Speaker
Over 3.5 years, this thing is still going strong. Since it's usually used in an indoor environment, it's not under much if any stress. I am amazed with how well the battery has held up after an estimated 600 hours of total use; only slight wear. I have used this, as well as an Xtreme 2, to keep phones charged during a 4 day power outage, which together needed recharged every 2 days. Connect+ is nice to have, as I can connect my other speakers (Pulse 3 and Xtreme 2) pretty much within its range of bluetooth. Sound quality is pretty good. I'm a bit of an audiophile, but an equalizer app had no problem with getting this speaker to sound how I would like.
Other JBL products I own: Clip 3 - 2.7 years, Pulse 3 - 3 years, Xtreme 2 - 3.1 years, Charge 4 - 3.5 years, and Go 2 - 4.1 years.

Connects easily with Bluetooth and it’s cordless.
I have had my JBL Charge 4 for about three weeks and I love it. It is small but powerful. I like taking it out by the fire pit and listening to music while winding down after a long day on the farm. It is Small, convenient, and has very good sound quality.

JBL is a very well-known brand and I expected a lot more buying this speaker. As a company, what they need to work on, is battery durability. This speaker last me a year and a half. Battery drains and barely last half a day. I just expected a lot more durability for the Battery.

weather proof!!
I lost this speaker about 6 months ago. I miraculously found it when my dog was playing with it in the backyard. Turns out my dog had buried it in the back yard for the last 6 months. When I took it from him and plugged it in it still worked!! by this speaker, it's worth it!

Small Price, Big Sound
I was at a party where the music was piped through a JBL wireless speaker, and I couldn't believe how well it filled up the room with sound. So I came to the JBL website, found these on sale for about 100 bucks. I like the fact that it has a 3.5 mm aux input.

Fits in my kayak's cup holder perfectly!
Love this speaker. I had a much older, smaller model which I loved because it fit in my bicycle's handlebar cup holder! I was disappointed that they kept growing in size over time when mine was stolen but you know what? The Charge 4 fits perfectly in my kayak's cup holder!! That's a Scotty brand cup holder fyi (wider than some). And the speaker's waterproof!! The sound is powerful and bassy, the charge lasts a bizarrely long amount of time and has bright lights to show how much charge is left and it charges phones rapidly. Have used it at the beach, by the pool, in the kayak, at the bbq and in the vintage car for vastly better sound. Way too loud for most uses. Highly recommend.

New Speaker
bought a new jbl speaker after having my last one for 7 years with no problem other than not holding a charge (but after so many years problems are expected) and the new one skips in every song played. Please Read Before Buying!
I bought this at least 6 months ago and everything was fine until I dropped it the first time. After dropping it from 3 feet up on of the subs stopped working correctly. And then just a few days ago took the speaker to the river and it won’t turn on even with moderate water contact. Very disappointed it this outcome.

I bought on Sep 6 a JBL Charge 4 Personalized, and on Sep 20 still, no news about the item, and it is not only that! I asked today for a cancellation and the support team just said that custom orders can't be canceled. They said from 7-10 days.... came on! since Sep 6 and still no news. DON'T BUY AGAIN ON JBL WEBSITE, AMAZON HAS THE SAME PRICES OR BETTERS AND YOU GET STUFF THE NEXT DAY!!!!. Maybe by 2023, I will get my item. Can believe that they lie about the order and have to wait so long and can't cancel it!

Not What I Expected
I have had the JBL Charge 4 exactly 1 year and 6 months....the POWER button is already worn out and the device will not turn on. Let me tell you - the amount of use this speaker got was minimal....under 20x in that 1.5yrs. The only way this device works or turns on is when plugged into the wall and to the device with the USB-C charger. If you want this expensive 'Portable Speaker' don't expect it to survive more than 1year!!

Wonderful solo on-the-go speaker
The speaker checks all the boxes for a take with me party speaker. Great that it connects to as many JBL connect speakers as I can find. Up to 100 makes the mind wander. Allowing two phones to connect at once is really nice. As a solo, I may be wanting more clarity on the crystal high tones. I understand for quality perhaps is why I must have an identical speaker to make a stereo pairing, but it would be nice to allow any device into a stereo pair. Waterproof is peace of mind.

I bought the charge 4 along with a charge 3 on black Friday to see for myself which one sounded better. If the charge 3 sounded better, like some claim, I didn't want to pass up the deal for $89. I'm sending back the charge 3 and keeping the charge 4. Side by side the charge 4 has more bass and a cleaner more lifelike sound. I compared many songs and types of music, hands down the charge 4 wins. The charge three had almost no bass compared to the charge 4 and the charge 3 has too much sound in the mid high area of frequency range, not well balanced. I wanted the charge 3 to sound close to what the charge 4 did that way I would keep it, at such a great deal, and have two speakers to play together with the JBL connect plus.

I TOOK MY SPEAKER ON A RAFT TO FLOAT A RIVER WITH MY FRIENDS, WE HIT A TREE AND WE WENT DOWN. SO FAST. THE SPEAKER WAS SUBMERGED FOR LIKE A SOLID 2 MINUTES WHILE WE PANICKED AND MADE OUR WAY TO A SMALL ISLAND. I SET IT OUT IN THE SUN TO HOPEFULLY DRY IT AND NOT GET IT RUINED. IT DID GREAT. I TURNED IT ON 5 MINUTES LATER AND IT WORKED JUST FINE. I PLAYED A SOUND TO GET THE WATER OUT AS MUCH AS I COULD BUT IT DID GREAT! WE WERE STRANDED FOR 3 HOURS AFTER RHAT IN THE WOODS SURROUNDING THE RIVER TRYING TO GET TO THE MAIN ROAD, AND WE LISTENED TO TOOL THE ENTIRE TIME . IF I COULD RATE THIS A 20/5 I WOULD.

Speaker in fryer still works!!
This speaker is amazing!! I dropped it in a fryer at my job where it became melted I then pulled it out and sprayed it off in the sink several times. I thought it was done for but it still works like new!! It sure doesn't look new but wow that is waterproof and 380 degree fryer proof!! I will never buy another brand and everyone at my work is now off to buy one!

I bought this product in September (writing review in November) and the battery life is very short, plus it doesn't charge as it plays either. I thought this was normal but my brother has the same model of jbl speaker he's had for two years and it's battery life is both significantly longer and it plays as it charges. Seems like the speaker I purchased is defective. Furthermore I bought the personalized version of the speaker and the paint color began to fade within a month of purchase. :( People might have a good experience with their speakers as my brother did with his but I can't say the same for myself.

I chose my favorite painting and uploaded it as the design and it looks perfect as if it were a unique design. I love it because it’s sentimental and no one else would have my design. They did a great job on displaying exactly what I wanted. Also a great speaker overall, I’ve been needing a new good quality speaker and when I saw these were on sale, I just had to do it. For a customized speaker, the price was very reasonable and cheaper than I expected. Not enough people know you can customize your jbl speakers!

The JBL Charge 4 packs a sonic punch that'll make your jaw drop. There are Crisp highs, booming lows, and a rich, full-bodied sound that'll have you moving to any song. It's like the musicians are right there with you. And can we talk about battery life? I've gone a week and some before charging this speaker. But wait, there's more! Not only does the Charge 4 sound incredible, but it's also built like a tank. See, I was a proud owner of the JBL Charge 3 before making the upgrade to the Charge 4. And let me tell you, that Charge 3 was my faithful companion through countless events, from the college dorm to the living room and from dropping it on concrete to it being submerged in water. Simple Quality
I've been using the Charge 4 for two months now & I'm very satisfied with it. My use is primarily while showering or out in the garage. It has no problem playing loudly. To that end, I always have it turned up, but the battery life has still been terrific. The fidelity is reasonably good, and really the only reason to deduct a star for my rating.

Printed Logo looks AMAZING. Arrived 8 days early.
I ordered a personalized Charge 4 with my business' logo and it looks AMAZING. The printed rich color exceeded my expectations and the logo was large and not out of shape. It also arrived 8 days sooner than estimated. Obviously the quality of the speaker speaks for itself. Highly recommend the personalization feature, I will definitely do it again!
