Pretty dawned impressed
So far so good....thing sounds great. I use it with my acoustic guitar and mic and thus far pretty impressed with the sound for the size, the overall ease of setting it up, and features. The app is not as user friendly as it could be, but doable, the effect on the app are better than I expected. I haven't used it yet in frontvof a crowd or in a room bigger than my living room, but so far, seems like it has plenty of volume and headroom for ots size and what it is. Bluetooth good to about 25 or 30 feet, and I like that it can play through while I play and sing with it. Wish it would link up with my EON 712s and could use the JBL connect app, but otherwise, so far, a big thumbs up from me. Should come wit a JBL tshirt, 3x, hint hint.

Disappointing!
Bought this to use a portable amp for my bass. Good sound and nice features, especially like the bluetooth. But, as many have mentioned, the power button is a 'soft' digital power button, and mine has already broken. Unbelievable for a $500 speaker.

Awesome
I bought the JBL one compact two weeks ago and so far I love it. The sound is so clear and loud. Did not come with the manual so I had to download online. It took me awhile to get used to the app.

Firmware update did nothing!!!!! Bluetooth sucks!!
Since they don’t allow you to edit/update reviews. I’m doing another one.... before posting the last review, I did try to get my problem fixed via customer service...with no solution. I was told to wait for the firmware update (or more specifically the update kept failing). Today I was able to finally update the speakers.... and guess what? The bluetooth still skips and jumps all over the place..... really JBL!!!!!! Why push out a firmware update that doesn’t fix the problem? I feel like packing these up and sending them back.... I love all my other JBL products, but $1100 for the set, they are missing the mark....I love everything else about them.... feel free to reach out to me to help you beta test the next firmware update before you push it out.... Here’s my partial setup....

Sounds great when it works - unreliable
I've had this now for several months. At first I thought it was the best thing since slice bread - love the sound for such a small unit. Unfortunately it does crazy things like shuts down in the middle of songs and has to be rebooted. Sometimes when it's plugged in it will simply show red and shut itself down, needing to be rebooted again and again until it finally figures out that it's plugged in. This software is most likely to blame - it badly needs fixes for these problems because the sound blows away the competition.

Great sound, light weight, nice bass tones
This is a great compact speaker so far. It has great sound, low end bass, and it is very light weight. The number of inputs is great, and bluetooth connectivity worked well. I have yet to fully test the battery life, but so far it seems to hold up. The ONE issue is that the app doesn't work for me at all. I can install it, and it loads up - but it doesn't detect any speakers (I have 2 of them). I have an android, ver 7.0. The app loads fine, it just doesn't help at all with the speakers which is a shame because I really want to operate in stereo mode with bluetooth. The way it works now, I can only connect to one speaker, and I have to use the through line to connect to the other speaker....but that just gives me double mono. Other people don't seem to have an issue with the app, so I wonder what the problem is here.

Sounds good, bluetooth problems
I had high hopes for these speakers. The good:
They sound great, battery lasts a long time, very light.
The bad: The bluetooth sucks!!!!!!
I already own the eon g2 10’s and these sound better, imho, with the 8” woofer. The only reason I purchased these are for the bluetooth/wireless features. But the glitches and cut outs are a deal breaker. I’d like to use these for a dinner or cocktail hour, but can’t with the bluetooth uses. I’m back do using my wired stuff until JBL fixes the bluetooth connectivity. I never run into problems with my JBL portable Extreme 2.... JBL fix this!!!!!!!

Goes to sleep
I had high hopes for this unit. Everything is great except that if goes to sleep if music / sound is not played for a specific amount of time. This sucks hopefully I can send it back.

Will not sync two speakers
I had two JBL Eon 1 Compact delivered yesterday and was with tech support for over two hours to get both speakers working simultaneously. Still no resolve, very dissatisfied and disappointed. I have been using Harmon Kardon, JBL family of products for years. I read very poor reviews on the JBL “Party Box” and assumed the Pro Side would be a better avenue to take. After all the updates the California JBL Rep said it is a Firmware Issue and he would send an email to the Firmware Engineers in India. He sounded very doubtful that the issue would get resolved anytime soon. At $550 plus tax per device I expect better. In all actuality it is the JBL name that is getting run through the mud from a person, policy or procedure that is not being followed.

Great but not perfect
The EON One Compact shines when it comes to sound quality, and that's where the emphasis should be. Other nice features: portability, socket for speaker stand, Bluetooth input, and phantom power. Incidentally, these last two features are why I chose the Eon Compact over the Roland Street Cube EX. Where the EON falls short: like other reviewers, I struggle to use the controls which use red light to indicate their position. I presume a dial that is 1/2 lit is at 50% of its range, but it's by no means obvious, and having no physical minimum or maximum position makes it doubly challenging. Yes, I am old school - give me a knob that goes from 1 to 10 (or 11) with a hard stop at the low and high ends. I also am a bit challenged by the mixing flexibility. The unit has separate controls for volume, bass, treble, and reverb. A "channel" button lets you scroll through each of the channels, and the one you select is indicated by a red light. You select the channel you want, then make the appropriate adjustments. If you push the channel button until all channels are lit up, the bass, treble, volume, and reverb controls become volume controls that let you mix the volume of each channel. It takes a while to get used to, and I think I'd prefer to adjust the mix with a single volume control for each channel.
One thing I am struggling with and I plan to reach out to JBL is whether I can connect a personal monitor to let me hear what's going on in the mix. To prevent feedback, the EON has to be at your side or in front of you, which makes it difficult to hear your own singing and playing. If you connect headphones it disconnects the speakers. There is a line-out jack that the manual says lets you hook up two or more EON Compact for larger venues. I would like to connect just a small mic stand-mounted monitor. I have run a cable from the line out jack into a small powered speaker and there was a delay between the main speaker and monitor that made it impossible to use.
I don't consider these issues to be deal-breakers, just the difference between a four-star and five-star review.

Proper!
After scrutinizing over the JBL EON One Compact with several other brands, we are glad to have added these speakers to our sound arsenal. Solid battery performance. Good safe on/off button (in contrast to others' opinions). Good weight for transportation---get a gig bag for it to save on the wear and tear. The sound levels at the rated mHZ was spot-on...enough to lift the party at most venues sans the wires and limits.
