Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glitchy behavior with external display The docking station has difficulty waking the external monitor (connected by DP) after being put to sleep by Windows, and requires a restart in some cases, without any ability to predict when that will happen. Even on those occasions when the screen does wake up, it often wakes it up a few moments after waking up the Lenovo laptop's screen, which ends up moving all windows that were active on the second display over to the laptop's screen. It also results in Windows resetting the wallpaper on the external monitor to use the one on the laptop's screen. A lot of attempts to fix this, and no luck so far. For as much as this device costs, one would expect far better usability from the start. Note: using latest firmware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not cheap but worth the extra money The Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock is not cheap, especially when compared to other docking station makes/models, but IMHO still worth the money. I own 3 of these docking stations, two for my office plus one for when I travel. They work well, greatly reduce cable clutter, eliminate setup downtime, allows me to quickly plug in my laptop and resume work, wherever I happen to be. I like the special USB-C/power cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High-quality product, but a bit pricey This product is very pricey for what it does, but it does it well. The fault is in the laptop that it is made for. I bought this for a Lenovo ThinkPad P15v and I won't buy another one due to the specific model required for the docking station if you want it to charge while docked. It does work great though and it's easy to set up for non-technical staff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock worth every penny I thought this docking station was a little expensive, but I've changed my mind. When it arrived I hooked it up once (to my new ThinkPad P17 with Windows 11) and it worked beautifully from the start. After a few weeks of operation it is invisible now. I can disconnect my laptop and use it away from my desk, and when I return to my dock the two DP-connected monitors come alive with the right icon layout and display settings (I keep the laptop closed, two 28-inch, 4k monitors are enough screen for me), the keyboard and mouse, ethernet connection, and various USB connections are instantly back online. The cost, almost $500 with tax, is now a "sunk cost" and will amortize over many years and sink into mediocrity while I enjoy the best dock I could buy at the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful but Choppy Very powerful build. A little choppy and graphic skips. I use heavily with huge sketchup models and Enscape realtime rendering. That side works well. When I open Google Earth pro it is jumpy. Many programs are like that. So, works well on day one but I'm concerned about the future as programs just get heavier and heavier. I am using a near max'd out version of the ThinkPad 16". I backed of the Ram and only have 32gb. Maybe that was a mistake. One big, silly complaint is the swapping positions for the Fn adn Cntrl buttons. They are flipped from a regular keyboard so the Cntrl is inboard. I misfire ALL THE TIME. So, works well but I wish it were faster.

It works fine, however I really don't like the style or functionality. The past models were better in that the laptop connected directly into the ports like on the Lenovo Part # 40AJ0135US, that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Generation did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flaky, not quite ready for prime time... USB devices like mice and keyboard stop working all the time, have had to bypass the dock and plug directly into the laptop for now. Many, many issues waking OS from sleep. Not stable at all, many times a day requires attention. Beware, not compatible with thunderbolt 3 computers, what the heck are you kidding me? Are we supposed to just sell all "old" thunderbolt 3 computers purchased 2 years ago? Really need to take backwards compatibility more seriously. My personal biggest disappointment is that Linux support is MIA, please Lenovo make Linux a first class citizen, it's my preferred OS for daily work. Hopefully dock stability and OS support will get better over time with firmware updates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, small size. This docking station is small in size and yet powerful. It comes with a 300W supply so it can power the laptop and provide USB power as well. It has 3 USB 3.0 ports and 1 lightening (USB C) port on the back and 1 usb port and 1 lightening port on the front. It also has 2 Display Port, 1 HDMI Port connectors and an RJ-45 connector on the back. The lightening connector on the back can also be used for a USB C monitor. There are not enough usb 3.0 ports on the back. I'm used to docking stations that connect to the laptop via a connector on the bottom of the laptop. These have more USB ports than this docking station. The double connector used to connect this to my laptop is a little clumsy but the docking station serves it's purpose.

It's plenty powerful to keep my T15g charged up just through the tether. It has every port I need. I run my laptop screen plus 3 additional monitors and I'm able to do this with just the tether and a single thunderbolt cable connected to my laptop in the back. The dock provides the ease I was hoping for when I need to just grab and go.

The Thinkpad P17 Gen2 is a laptop that is big, solid build and the Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock is the perfect match to make it awesome!! The P17 Gen 2 has the A5000 NVIDA GPU with 16 GB vRAM and 128GB DDR4 memory and a 3840x2180 500nits display, in addition, three 2 TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4 NVMe for fast and large storage. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports are available. Attaching the Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock (model 40B00300US) to the P17 Gen2 with two 4k 27" monitors using the 2 DisplayPort Ports that are available on this dock and this plenty of power (300 watts) and plenty of accessory port available for expanding storage or what other devices. IN fact I have a 2 TB PCIe external SDD Gen 4 NVMe connected to the Dock's Thunderbolt Dock and I am getting transfer rates of 2780 Mb/s!! With the latest's firmware and drivers installed this Thunderbolt 4 Workstation dock is working flawlessly for me. I am as happy as I can be with Thunderbolt 4 WS Dock.

Supposedly a new firmware fixes this, which I was sort of banking on when buying it, and I know what you are thinking... skill issue, but it is literally impossibly to install the firmware. No comment from Lenovo, just a broken firmware package for five months! I wish I wouldn't have bought it. Oops!

It certainly isn't cheap, but Lenovo always delivers a great product. The 300w power brick is big and heavy, but it's able to deliver the full 230w of power to the laptop when you're pushing the GPU and CPU on it.

I was trying to dock with a new LG curved Gamming monitor and tested three different docks (Dell, Microsoft and Logitech), for some reason all of them worked intermittent and some times just did not work at all. I decided to go and give the Thunderbolt 4 a try and it worked just immediately, plug and play. Highly recommended.

Cons: - The exhaust port for the fan comes out of the right side of the computer, so if you use a standalone mouse your thumb gets very hot. - Compared to other laptops this one is slow to start despite having far superior specifications. - Battery life is short, lucky to get 2 hours if it's not plugged in. Pros: - Can drive 4 additional monitors along with the main screen. - Exceptionally quick at all things. There is hardly any lag time between any operations.

This one does the exact same thing, it's so very disappointing to spend this amount of money on something and have it not work in the exact same way as the old model. Everything else seems to work fine but it's very frustrating to have to unplug and replug in the monitor to get it to turn back on.

I asked the agent what product do I get for Lenovo Legion, and provided the information that they needed, such as serial number of my laptop, etc. The agent gave me a link to the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock. I purchased it. When I got the product, it was not functioning properly. I contacted Lenovo ThinkPad, and they are unable to help me because I have Legion, then I got referred to the Legion Department. Lenovo Legion Department is unable to help me and referred me to another department. The last department tells me the ThinkPad product is not "compatible" with my Legion laptop, not to mention I had to provide the serial number of my laptop and the Dockstation product, everytime I would get transferred. Refund process was passive-aggressive. The agent has a heavy Indian accent and really did not understand even when I provided the serial number phonetically to try to help. I had to call twice to ensure the process was correct. Overall, I wasted A LOT of time with ultimately no success with the product. I am not using Lenovo anymore, nor am I going to refer anyone to Lenovo. Everything is terrible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TB4 Dock - It works, but it's never seamless. First dock was shipped in a timely manner. Dock lasted almost a week before the HDMI port died. Thunderbolt, still worked. Lenovo 2-day'd a replacement. This one is currently still working, however good luck getting them to play well with windows. With laptop shut, when it goes into sleep mode, sometimes it awakens and only the TB monitor will be working, other times it'll only be the HDMI monitor working. If you disconnect and reconnect the laptop, it usually resolved the issue, but if you disconnect and have different monitor backgrounds, they are going to get blown out. I've never had one work flawlessly with any laptop/monitor configuration, so I had low expectations going into the purchase, but knew getting it direct would hopefully mitigate any warranty claim issues.

It stays cool and runs my computer, monitor, ecternal camera, mic, keyboard/mouse, and other peripherals seemlessly. Wish these cost less but minimizes buying and hauling an extra powersupply around.

Every time my computer is locked for awhile or I switch the input on my monitor to use a different device for awhile then com back to my laptop, the dock no longer displays anything on my two external monitors. The dock still shows as connected to my laptop, but Windows no longer recognizes that there are external monitors plugged in. The only way I am able to get the laptop to recognize the monitors again is to unplug then plug in the dock thunderbolt cable. I never had this issue with other docks I've used in the past.

It also arived on time which is great because I can now take it with me on a trip to go see family. It'll keep me productive while I'm away having fun. We use multiples of these in our office and every one has issues with screens flickering off, connections not working or burning out quickly, and functions not working. Lenovo also requires signatures on packages, but will ship the products on completely different days than quoted and selected in purchasing, so good luck meeting that UPS delivery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid until the ethernet adapter dies. So far, this one has worked great. This is my fourth one of these docks over the last 5 years. The ethernet adapter seems to be the weak point. It died on the first and third dock and was nonfunctional out of the box on the second dock. On the third dock I ended up using a USB ethernet adapter plugged into the dock until it decided to completely not work one day. I do not know that there is a better option for workstation dock with a single point hook up to the laptop (via the twinned Thunderbolt USB / power cable)

I originally bought the wrong docking station that would not supply power to the computer. I called Lenovo and asked to return it to purchase the proper docking station and they were very accommodating.

Also i bought because a monitor keep blacking out tep told me it could be the hub i have since it wa bot a Lenovo. Just spent more money and still do not have my monitir fixed.

I got a computer that only had USB-C so ordered a dock, sales sold me one that was not compatible with that computer exchanged it twice they should have known. Then had to exchange the computer by the time that told me couldn't get the same computer didn't really need this and couldn't send it back

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This dock has limitations. The quality of the dock is good, but it has a known limitation not disclosed in the product description. In spite of having (an enormous) 230 watt power supply, it cannot pass enough power to a laptop that uses a 140 watt power supply. This required me to buy an additional 140 watt supply, which Lenovo does not have in stock. It’s an unusual voltage (28V), which I finally found from a third party. Also note that rather than a single connection from the dock to a laptop, it uses an awkward double cable with two connectors that need to be plugged in every time. In the case of my new laptop (Thinkpad P16 G3), the dedicated power cable half couldn’t even be used, as it had the wrong connector type. This may all be the result of limitations in USB-C power limitations, but it is disappointing that the product is not described accurately.

This dock is running 3 x 27" monitors and 1 x 38" widescreen monitor and it works like a champ. No issues with the monitors whatsoever. The rest of the doc works great as well including all of the USB monitors.

It worked well and I didn't notice the difference in resolution between my monitors, 4k vs 1080P. Now that I have the new dock, I recognize the noticeable improvement in my monitors that were using only 1080P and wished I had upgraded my workstation dock sooner.

Dock is solid, cords are heavy duty, and the anti slip pad is strong. I will say I have a concern with the heavy duty cords putting stress on the USB c input over time but so far so good.

The dock station that Lenovo web site lists as compatible accessory (3-series thunderbolt) requires using supplied with the system power supply. Even a sales representative told me that there is no dock station that would work with P1 without the system's power supply. But then I found this one, which has enough power to feed such systems. It also works with my old X1.

I bought it for my new Lenovo Thinkpad P14s Workstation since this dock is supposed to fit workstations. To my surprise it does not. The provided cable to connect the dock to laptop does not fit the P14s and I have to connect another cable to supply power to the P14s otherwise it shows a battery warning. I think Lenovo should at least mention in the product description to avoid such case. Obviously Lenovo's P14s team does not talk to the dock station team, typical big corporation issue.

The docker station contained all the ports I needed, especially the rectangle shape power cable coupled to a usb-c cable for ease of attach and use. No need for extra power adapter for my high performance Lenovo laptops anymore. The size is big (both its power supply adapter and the docker it self) but can be hidden behind your monitor or table.

But the 4K monitor refused to run HDR though the docking station, and has to be wired to HDMI on the laptop. The two 1080p monitors both have issues with waking up with the laptop, and the whole docking station has to be reset to get them to come up. While they work, they have graphical artifacts sometimes that make them distracting.

I use this docking station with my ThinkPad X1 Carbon and I have had nothing but problems with it, I have had it replaced TWICE with the same issues. My right screen never comes on when I first plug in the laptop to the docking station, I have to unplug the power and plug it back in. On top of that, the sound rarely works either with USB or the headphone jack AND randomly, my peripherals will wig out, for example, my mouse stops tracking or a letter is repeated several times as if I'm holding a button down in the middle of my typing, which makes it hard to get work done. Shameful for a product that bears the ThinkPad logo.

Whereas the 1st one lead to constant crashes, this one just refuses to work with the connected monitors once the computer (also a Lenovo) has gone into standby. That means every time I go to grab a coffee I have to shut down the computer, or when I come back I have to unplug the computer and restart it then.

It was ready to go right out of the box. My only suggestion is to better coordinate the cord length with being able to sit the docking station next to the computer. The docking station is to sit forward, but the cable comes out of the side, forcing the docking station to be in a less than ideal position.

This connection was working fine for the first month but now the dock is no longer recognizing the HDMI connection after opening from sleep mode (shows as 'inactive'). This forces me to have to restart my computer to get it to activate the HDMI connection. I've tried switching display settings to get the extended display back to my laptop screen and this doesn't work either. As of now I've resorted to plugging the external monitor directly into my laptop (which defeats the whole purpose of the dock) until/if I find a resolution to the problem.

I've used many different Thunderbolt docks for my workstation laptops over the years, but all have always had some issues and quirks which never seemed to get worked out fully. The experience was never fully there and I could never fully rely on them, until I got this one.. Lenovo nailed it with this dock! It works very well, and is super consistent and reliable. These guys are expensive, but well worth it considering it will "just work". Very happy overall, love this dock!

There is a button during the purchase process which will allow you to upload your documentation to verify your tax exempt process. I did this but during the purchase the tax was still being applied so I chatted with Lenovo support to see if I did anything wrong. They informed me that tax would be applied but that I just had to write an email to an email address to request a tax reimbursement (?). I did as instructed and after sending my documentation (again) they said that they would be able to refund the tax on the purchase. I asked if there was anything I did wrong or how I could have avoided this and they said that next time I need to call a phone number to request a tax refund (?!). Apparently the upload tool isn't sufficient and tax is supposed to be charged up front and then reimbursed after purchase? At any rate, this was needlessly complicated and now I'm going to need to provide separate documentation to my employer for the purchase + tax and then the separate tax reimbursement.

I like that with this dock I can plug the two in at once, even though it's still really 2 plugs. I do still occasionally have one external screen or the other (of the two I use) randomly go black and then return 15 seconds are so later. It's the only dock lenovo claims supports my laptop, so I don't really have any choice but to use it. I think it's about double the price it should be and the occasional monitor drops are annoying.

Monitor connectivity is sketchy, using one DisplayPort and one HDMI connection is the most workable solution, but the HDMI monitor no longer wakes up on sleep, have to unplug it each time. Latest failures are with USB ports. Sometimes the USB ports on the dock work, sometimes they don't, not even consistent which ones fail to work, every time you reboot it's just a surprise. Doesn't matter which USB port is used, USB-C or USB-B, random failures occur across all ports. Have updated firmware, all the usual fixes, nothing works. Just about at my limit, will have to start looking for 3rd party options, spending more of my work time trying to troubleshoot Lenovo dock and laptop issues than doing actual work.

This dock still exhibits the same wake from sleep issues, as well as random lag/hanging/not being recognized as the TB3 dock did. When it works, it's great, but it's a shame really. All firmware is updated on both the dock and the laptop (T15g Gen 2).

I am running two 4k monitors on the DisplayPort connections. The workstation dock come with its own 300 watt power supply, so now I have the 230 watt laptop power supply to throw in my computer bag. It is very easy to disconnect from wit the dual power and Thunderbolt 4 cable. I haven't tried to hook up 4 monitors yet, but I will probably try at some time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad P1 Gen 5 - fabulous but hot I purchased a ThinkPad P1 Gen 5 with the i7-12800, 64GB RAM, a 2GB SSD, and an A4500 graphics card (16GB RAM, running Windows 11. I got the 4K 600 nit screen, which is beautiful and really bright. The machine swiftly handles every workload I throw at it and is slim. I have it connected via a ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock to two external 4K monitors. The only downside is heat - under the least bit of CPU load, I feel a lot of warmth through the keyboard, something I hadn't expected with Intel's 12th generation chip. In retrospect, I might have gone with the P16 for better heat management.

The ThinkPad Thunderbolt 2 Workstation Dock is powerful and full-featured. I am able to consolidate all of the connections from my ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 Laptop, four ThinkVision T27i-30 Monitors, and a USB Hub into the Dock's rear panel. All of the laptop's connections are free to use, which provides more convenience and versatility in my daily work. The dock is lightweight and small enough to carry with me when traveling.

I was told by a Lenovo sales associate (through the website chat feature) that this docking station was compatible with the Legion 5 Pro laptop (charging and data transfer). When I set it up with my laptop it transferred data just fine, however it would not charge my laptop. I submitted a work order thinking it was a damaged cable or broken station but was told by a repair associate that the station was not in fact fully compatible with this model of laptop. Also, I tried using the smartfind function to find a compatible docking station but it would seem like the filtering function doesn't work once you select a laptop model? Overall, not a great experience trying to find a docking station for my laptop so far.

It's plenty powerful to keep my T15g charged up just through the tether. It has every port I need. I run my laptop screen plus 3 additional monitors and I'm able to do this with just the tether and a single thunderbolt cable connected to my laptop in the back. The dock provides the ease I was hoping for when I need to just grab and go.

A few days later I had a few issues, first the external monitors stopped getting a signal, I got that fixed and then the mouse and keyboard stopped working. Troubleshooting instructions weren't helpful so after trying to generic troubleshooting advice I found online I finally got everything working again. Ever since then it's working smoothly, hoping that I don't have issues again.

I think the over riding theme here is that the Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock 40B00300US is a failed product which Lenovo either too quickly brought to the market without proper evaluation or current support personnel are unwilling to get the issues resolved. I purchased the 40B00300US and have been running it on a brand new compatible Lenovo P15v G3, with a very basic set up of 2 monitors, a USB Lenovo keyboard & mouse, and a Brother printer. The docking station has had numerous failures of black screens on the extended displays, not initiating any functions on startup, failing to wake after sleep, odd behaviors like screen & display settings changing, and recently all USB ports on the dock station stopped working. And this was on the new replacement unit which Lenovo shipped me after the first one had similar issues. Lenovo only offered to return the product as a final solution. The product has been poorly designed and not ready for the market. A $50 3rd party product works better that this $400 failure. I would not recommend this product to ANYONE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frequent monitor glitching using HDMI I just bought a new ThinkPad P15v Gen 3, and bought this dock to go with it, since it is listed as compatible in Lenovo website's literature. I hooked up my LG 4K monitor to it via HDMI and the monitor experiences frequent glitching in the form of screen tearing and image misalignment where portions of the screen are a pixel or two misaligned. There is also a significant lag in any of my devices (keyboard, Wacom tablet) plugged into a USB hub that is plugged into the dock. I had to remove the USB hub and plug all of my USB devices and dongles into the dock directly, which now leaves me with no remaining USB ports. After multiple firmware updates for all devices and the dock, and multiple laptop restarts, the USB device lag is resolved but the monitor glitching remains. I noticed that there is LESS monitor glitching when I unravel the dock cord and let it hang freely (I had it wrapped and tied to keep cord hazards out of the way). It still glitches, however. I previously had a different Lenovo laptop and dock which did not have this problem, using the same monitor and setup. When I try to submit a ticket to Lenovo Support, I am sent on and endless loop of chatbot "support", self-help articles, and a community board. Very frustrated and will try to RMA this dock since it is not functional as is. Very disappointed.

The Bad: The power connector comes with a rubber ring around the metal which prevents it from being inserted enough to power the computer. It must be cut off before it can be used. The thunderbolt cable is also really short.

I greatly appreciate the design of the connector cable with the power and Thunderbolt leads snapping together magnetically instead of being a single unit. This allows you to use it as a regular USB-C/Thunderbolt dock on other systems without Lenovo's power plug while perfectly aligning to the power/Thunderbolt ports on my P17. Reliable connections, great size for a desktop, and the added USB-A/C/3.5mm combo jack on the front means you can add or remove things easily too. Definitely recommended.

Each time it takes 1 to 2 seconds for the screen to come back. Sometimes the screen sequences through red, green, blue, white and black repeatedly. I've tried swapping between monitors and the issue follows the port on the dock. Tried a second dock with same results. My work around, while I wait for this case to be escalated, is to use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and use one of the two USB-C ports on the dock. Note that I am using this dock with a new ThinkPad P16s. Firmware was downgraded, upgraded, driver on PC upgraded. Apart from this rather significant flaw, it doesn't work too bad. I've had one other display issue using the HDMI port where the screen kept going blurry. Unplugging and plugging in the dock fixed that.

The Sales Rep/Chat Agent went away for a few minutes then came back and said it would. This was not true. The Power to the PC would never register. It did trigger the external Monitor via the Thunderbolt connection. It would never register the USB mouse or Keyboard. Returned. Did seem to work with my Lenovo T470S but I already have a docking station for it.

Lenovo tech support has replaced the docking station 3 times and every one has the same issue. They say they are working on a solution, but cannot say when that will happen. When the P16 was locked or sleeping and external keyboard or mouse touched to wake the computer it would not respond. Most often it would not wake unless the lid to the laptop was opened. On some occasions it would wake after 5 or more minutes. When attempting to remotely access the computer via 3rd party software it would not be accessible. I reached out to Lenovo customer service on multiple occasions without response. Decided to purchase a Startech USB C dock which resolved the issue. Computer now wakes immediately. The $400 Thunderbolt is not being used. Extremely dissappointed.

The fix to the issue, the P15 randomly turning off, was that you need to plug in the docking station power first, then the Thunderbolt. When done this way the Thunderbolt can be used to startup the P15 and all is well. I have had zero issues since discovering this odd little issue.

I love that I can connect 3 monitors but its causing a load of grief when powering up and shutting down. I have to constantly reboot or re-connect and disconnect the cables to get the monitors going. It takes forever to either OS or the dock to detect that all monitors are still connected after powering off/on or shutting down the system. Last night I updated the firmware and still no change. I'm wondering if anyone else is experienced this issues? When it does work, I've 3 monitors working and can get more work done. Only that it takes up to 2 hrs just to get them functional for the day.

This is unfortunately a recurring and consistent issue we have experienced with every version of the ThinkPad Thunderbolt docks from the first versions to this newer version. It is at best marginally better than plugging all the cables in manually, and if the office weren't the one paying for it, I would never buy it.

Many times there's a whole routine to get the external monitor to work after a sleep, hibernate or reconnection. Even when it works, it's slow to figure to get the signal to the external monitor. All in all, mostly frustrating. I could have just bought a desktop computer for the price and never bothered with connecting my laptop to my monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Annoying that the smaller models (which cant deliver as much charging power) don't charge at all - I would want them to still charge the laptop while plugged in, albeit at a slower rate. I can leave my external monitor and external hard drive connected to dock. Leave my power brick in my bag, connect and leave with 1 cable, it's 2 cables but the connectors can link together. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bit expensive and unreliable. These work very well if you need to operate a workstation machine like the Lenovo P16. They have monitor connection problems with the normal Lenovo T14 laptops that we purchase. A lot of the monitors will randomly go blank for a few seconds every so often. The less expensive USB-C model doesn't have the same issue for the T14's so we have moved to that. Had a personal one for home use and it died after a year. Not enough USB ports for the size of the unit either.
