Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works great at least. I like and trust Netgear products so I bought this router and made a terrible assumption. I assumed that since it has 802.11ac rated at 700Mbps that the WAN port would be a gigabit port. I didn’t care that the 4 ports were 10/100 because I’m not using any physical connections I bought it for the WiFi part only. The WAN port is also 10/100 so the only way to benefit from the 802.11ac speed of 700Mbps is if you’re transferring between 2 local machines. Netgear really dropped the ball here and screwed everybody that bought it who knows nothing about how this stuff works. Very disappointed with Netgear here and I’ve been using their products for many years. If you pay for speeds faster than 100Mbps this is not the router for you. But like the title says it works very well and a lot better than xfinity’s crap did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad ethernet cable in box I bought this a a month or so ago to replace an older NETGEAR router that would drop off the net all the time. I find out by my cable provider that the cable that came with the router is bad and won’t carry both 2.5 and 5.0 at the same time. Hooked up a good cable, tested by cable co, and use it.. would only speed test out at 12mbps down load.. and 1.01mbps upload.. I would not recommend it.. The price is to high for a paper weight with flashing lights. Customer service is ok.

As I added smart devices, the router would go offline, and it would need to be unplugged to restart. I guess I need to upgrade, but reconnecting all devices is time consuming. If I can purchase a better model that I can name the same as this one with the same password, I might consider it.

Router was extremely easy to set up and configure and I also replaced my airport Xpress by plugging my Brother laser printer into the router via ethernet.

Speeds are above 95% of wired connection, which is really good in my opinion. Hope it stays this good, as I have had problems with other brands giving out after a few months.

Has not locked up once in this first Month of over 300gb of traffic of Netflix, PC and XBOX downloads, phone downloads, social media, network transfers, browsing, booking, shopping, security cameras and system etc... Even with some devices pulling the full bandwidth for the system doing downloads I did not notice any problem with any other device "slowing" down. The router handled my priority settings perfectly and seamlessly. No problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brutal it doesn't have a gigabit wan plug I've been happy enough with this router but have realized i'm not getting the speeds out of it that i'd expect. after investigation i realize it only has a 10/100 wan plug. what's the point of that when it supports transfer rates of 650mbps over 5ghz. so i have a router that doesn't allow me to use the full signal coming from my cable modem. look elsewhere if you want something compatible with today's speeds.

Streaming, internet searching, email, all are faster. Even with Cox Cable as our ISP, internet tasks are faster and easier--even for 2 seniors in our 70s. Just the router we needed. The price was right, too, for a fixed income household.

The signal is strong enough to cover the backyard and boat dock as well with no loss of speed. I like the small footprint style. Excellent product.

The dual band works well in allowing me to connect my old devices, but also take advantage of speed on my new ones. Very happy with it so far -- just always a little wary of routers for the first 6 months or so and it has been about a week.

The young man that helped me was very knowledgeable about the product and made sure that I only bought what I needed. I was very greatful for his honesty because he could have very easily sold me a more expensive product. The price was more than reasonable and he explained that the instructions would be very simple to follow. After getting it home I can honestly say that 1 2 3 and boom I had it up and running in a matter of minutes. Neatgear made it very user friendly and non intimidating. I have bought a Neatgear WiFi Range Extender in the past for my previous residence. It took a little bit more time to set up but, it was still user friendly. I will definitely recommend these Neatgear products to friends and family and will continue to purchase Neatgear in the future.

We had lost our internet service and I had to prepare a presentation for a job interview. We were also in the middle of some remodeling. I ran out and picked this baby up. My son came over and helped me put everything back together, and we had Wi-Fi that same night. I got my presentation done in time. So far all is working well. I wish I could tell you I got the job, but it's only been a few days and I haven't heard back yet. I can tell you we no longer have any problems with our internet or Wi-Fi, and everything works much faster than it used to. Very happy with this purchase.

The settings were quick and easy to find and I was able to get everything going in less than 10 minutes. Signal strength has been amazing and the speed is exactly what you would expect from 802.11ac. Hard to beat this router for the price.

The only time I got pretty decent signal was in the living room (where my modem was connected, and even then I still wasnt satisfied with the connection there. But once I bought the NETGEAR Router,my internet speeds have more than doubled! I couldn't recommend this product enough to those who suffer wifi loss or any sort of connection issues they might have.

Someone recommended I get a NetGear router so I can ignore the router and get on with my electronic life!! Great advice. Now I am recommending the same action to others: Get a good router like the NetGear Wifi AC 1000 and forget about it.

This router provides a great interface (which was to be a selling point of the nodes system, but the netgear genie is super easy, flexible and offers great access and parental controls for free, plenty of broadcast range for us (3,000 sft), and good speed, given our ISP. Couldn't ask for more.

I don't know much about either but thought I had done my homework. I first went with a different router and soon realized I may have not made the best decision with the router. I ended up exchanging for this ac1000 and have been very happy with it. With all the use it gets I have experienced nothing but great speeds and uninterrupted viewing from all my streaming devices.

I recommend it.

I was constantly getting slower speeds and poor range with my old one and this is the exact opposite of that. The router is down stairs and I get just as good of a signal being right next to it and upstairs. I also don't have to reset it daily to attempt to increase my speed as I regularly get faster than I'm supposedly paying for. This thing is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone.

So I had to select a new one and install it myself. I choose another NETGEAR because I like the last one. I asked about this one and he said it should work, so I bought it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Router I just recently purchased the Netgear router and all most returned it after I discovered I already have one of another brand. So I disconnected the Netgear connected the Belkin router I had. There's no comparison the Netgear was so much better. The connection was stronger I can go in different rooms with my laptop and still stream movies. With the other router I couldn't do that. The uploading is super fast. I have to say this is the best route I've ever had. I highly recommended.

I upgraded to the fastest internet speed with Infinity, but my equipment wasnt up to par, so I switched to netgear products. I bought and installed a cable modem and two of the above wireless routers. Now I have full coverage of my home and great connection! Install was also easy and fast. Thank you Netgear!

The packing was minimal and fuss-free, and the instructions were simple and concise. I had everything up and running in under 5 minutes. The lighting indicators on the front of the router are easy to interpret, the inputs at the rear of the console are clearly labeled, and the antennas have a good range of motion. Been using this for a few weeks now, no issues whatsoever.

I just moved into my new apartment and the first thing I did was call my local internet provider and order my Netgear router & modem from Amazon. It was so easy to set up by myself and the instructions are clear. I get high speed internet everywhere in my 1950s apartment and in the separate laundry facility. I'll definitely recommend Netgear to anyone! Fast and reliable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice The AC1000 have being working wonders for me I had a router provided by my service provider and had problems with the signal dropping at 10-15ft away and the speed down almost 60% since I change to the AC1000 everything is almost perfect I have longer distance for the signal the speed is at 90% all the time meaning that I mostly get what I paid for in terms of service and I need to mention this is with a phone, gaming pc and ps4 connected at the same time. So to conclude the AC1000 its a huge upgrade for a decent price in my opinion it should be the standard equipment for service providers.

My ISP server Tech guy recommended I get the Netgear rather than the other brand I've always had and I'M SURE GLAD I DID! The Netgear support was perhaps the most helpful tech support I've ever encountered. A thousand times better than my service provider. Diagnosed the service provider's modem issue quickly. I'd buy Netgear again, just for their tech support!

I've had an older Netgear router for years, it was considerably cheaper and I kind of overlooked the buffering and dropped connection until it finally died. Decided to go with a slightly more expensive model and it's night and day! Haven't had a dropped connection in weeks, my shows don't buffer, and everything is so much faster, it's practically like I have a new phone! Super happy with it. Not a single complaint.

It is well worth the price that I paid for it and I am highly satisfied with it, as of yet I have had no dropoffs with all of my gadgets hookup to it! JOB WELL DONE!!!

My old Belkin would not pass through the new 100 meg speed cable I got now, but the Netgear pushed that 100 meg right into my system, PC, wireless to phones and Kindle etc. This is a GREAT product.

So I went out to staples, grabbed this new AC1000, and it was so easy to set up. Five minutes and our internet was up to 40mbps! Thank you for a great affordable router!!

The 2.4/5G dual channel performance is awesome...especially as we have "cut the cord" and are on internet TV only. (Note: Our TV is *not* a 4K UHD model, so if you have one, you may wish to investigate a Netgear router with higher data transfer rate - such as the AC1750). But for all our current household internet needs, which includes 1080p LED TV, a Mac Book Pro, an iMac, two iPhones, a MacBook Air and Canon wireless printer, this little router ROCKS! Signal consistency and range are excellent in our single-family home. Plus, Netgear's easy set-up and great online and app support options are exceptional. They really seem to be serious about customer service. When we do upgrade our TV, another Netgear router will be in our future.

Back in the old days, when I bought it, these things were not very intuitive and it took more knowledge than the average layperson has about technology. I was more of a geek than anyone else I knew, so I had to do it myself. It took a long while, but I finally figured it out. So when that router finally died, and I had to replace it, I dreaded the hours I would be wasting setting up the new one. Imagine my surprise when it only took a few minutes! Unlike the old router, this one pretty much installed itself. Sure, I had to do some of the work, but I was walked through the process, step by step. And, the router works exactly as it should. Yay!

But I've probably spent twice that in rental fees from Xfinity and I didn't want to take a chance with buying a cheaper model with low reviews. I didn't find any modem router combos with high reviews. My Netgear router was definitely the right choice. Xfinity won't help you with setting up a router over the phone but the product support was great. In about thirty minutes I was connected. I highly recommend this product.

This one only cost $10 more and is way more powerful and can transmit to any room just as fast as if I was plugged directly into the modem itself. It's not clear in the instructions (or using the app) but you need to first pull up a browser window to set up the router. The signal is there and you can "connect" devices, but it doesn't really connect until going to the setup page. Even the app doesn't make that distinction (app says you are connected and can see all connected devices). Here's the interesting part - if you tunnel through a VPN, it will work without the router setup. Anyway, working solid now that its up and running. Not dropping connections and signal still seems strong. Would purchase again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install. Worked great immediately! This is our third Linksys router. Have been very pleased with all of them. Our first was in service for about 15 years. We upgraded a few years ago, and just recently, we've had very bad storms and lightening hit our internet connection and destroyed our router. The newest one was very easy to install. I'm a senior citizen (and not too good with technology but I was able to install it with the quick set up guide with no problem. Very pleased with that! We have had good reception with all of them.

I expected it to be somewhat not that good (signal strength wise, but I was shocked on how far it really goes! I live on the third floor and my phone immediately connects when I'm walking toward my building. I also liked how easy it was to hookup and install. If this thing ever dies, I will definitely be getting another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent range 2.4 Ghz is excellent rangewise, the 5 Ghz is solid and excellent range, however I've gotten up to 390 Mbps on my old 5 Ghz, this one I can max at 85 Mbps, but the trade in range is good for me. Attractive unit, easy interface, using this as an AP and not a router, but works very well, no reboots needed.

I bought this product a few weeks ago and have had other similar products from this and other companies in the past, but I have to say that this is by far the best router that I have bought for the price. Instantly it increased my download and upload speed over a similar product from a competitor. It has a nice range and covers my whole house where I used to have to open up my bedroom door to get a better signal. Great job in creating a affordable product that works great.

This one is perfectly reliable. I went from taking about 5 minutes to download a Mb of data to downloading a Gb in 2 minutes. It's fast, perfectly reliable, and won't break the bank. One of the best purchases I've made in a while.

So far the new Netgear router maintains a steady, uninterrupted Internet connection. The only annoyance was its insistence on installing an unwanted app on my cell phone (a real surprise since I had not provided the company with any information at all about my cell account - creepy). The router is great so far! Glad I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Netgear AC1000 Dual Band Router I have a Netgear 600 Router at work. It is also Dual Band. I like the apps that work with these routers. The routers are reliable. I had a Netgear 300 before the 600 at work. I purchased the 1000 for use at home with "business" in mind. I took all my old cable wire and converted it to an Ethernet network with some converters. The 1000 allowed me to extend my WiFi range up to my 3rd floor and filled in the holes on my 2nd floor. Of course, my computer now has a wired connection and is hopefully more secure than a WiFi connection. I did the same with the cameras that we installed. When I am finished they will all be wired.

But, I was told to get the router instead and I am glad I did. My laptop is connected and now I have my own WiFi and not my landlords. Very happy.

I went to Best Buy to find a cheap, reliable router and the sales associate instantly walked me over to this router, as well as a Motorola Modem, and explained to me that those two paired together is top notch for the price. I don't know much about technology so I took his word and have not experienced even the slightest hiccup in my connectivity. Very pleased with the router and will continue to buy from Netgear any time I plan on upgrading.

I simply plugged in the included Ethernet cable from the modem and the power cord. That was it. My new wireless connection appeared on my taskbar and I entered the password written on the router. Boom I'm online with 250 mbps. The router is in a wall in a closet and does fine but I don't need a long range. Thanks for looking.

The set up was easy and the speed and coverage are great for my 2 story house. My 2 children both use laptops throughout the house and my Tv is hooked up as well along with all the phones using the wifi and even with all this I still have no issues with my Desktop connection which is at the other end of the house. 5 STARS!

The R6080 was a very good choice as it meets all of my requirements and the price was a bargain compared to other WiFi routers at best buy. The setup is very simple and it's secured out of the box. I get full WiFi coverage with no dead spots. I have had Netgear products for years and this unit replaced a malfunctioning Belkin my mother was using that was only two years old. At 7 dollars more than a comparable N router the decision to go with a Netgear AC was a no-brainer. Great product, great documentation, reliable and easy to setup and use.

It goes through multiple floors with no issues and I have a fast connection everywhere I go in my house, as well as my own backyard. For the price, I would highly recommend this router. I've been a fan of Netgear for a long time and this router still supporting the reason as to why I am a fan.

Recently upgraded internet connection from a painfully slow (1-5 mbpd) DSL to a much faster (70-100 mbps) cable. Installation was a snap. Router automatically connected to the manufacturers web site. That allowed changing network name and password to the values in my devices. I now get the full 100 mbps on the pc cabled to the router and 30-50 mbps on wifi connected devices. Range covers my 1 level 1500 square foot house and even extends to my detached garage. This device works exactly as specified.

I was able to set up port forwarding for remote desktop access as well as customize all of my settings and set up my WiFi extenders with ease, so I would definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Internet router I love our new Netgear router for various reasons: 1. I really enjoyed the easy set-up especially with an app to help us out if needed- SO COOL! 2. I love the ability for dual-ban WiFi so we can use it for different devices and/or when guest come over they can use the slower WiFi while we use the faster one. However, our Wiiu is unable to connect to our higher speed internet which is a big bummer :-( Nonetheless it was definetley worth the price

No dropped connections, even with 8 users streaming and searching the web on various devices! Range over my cable provider router doubled so I was able to reduce the amount of repeaters in my house. Overall, best router for my families use.

Without any visual input from my gear I purchased his router and the extremely easy set up quickly told me I had found the problem. What a joy this router was as it connected with all my peripherals. Highly recommend this router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best WiFi I've had This WiFi box literally made my gaming experience 10x better, I used to run on a strict NAT type with my other router (belkin) but now I'm running on an open NAT type and it's great, Not only that but it's great to have two separate wifi's so when guests come over I won't lag in game or experience slowness in my WiFi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS IS A GOOD UNIT.... This NETGEAR Router has the latest Wi-Fi Technology and has made my Home Network BLAZING FAST. I paired it with a NETGEAR MODEM(CM 400 and NET GEAR Range-Extender/Access Point(AC1200 EX6150v2) and my Home Network has NO DEAD-ZONES and a GREAT SIGNAL on all 3 floors. So I now have EXCELLENT Wi-Fi reception through out all 2200 sq. ft.. So good, in fact, that the signal goes all the way out to the street too! AND I have NO WORRIES as the Network Security is as good as it gets, so.... NICE ONE NETGEAR ! Another, MAYBE THE BIGGEST, PLUS is that by using my own gear, I save the monthly fees from my ISP and the Gear will pay for itself in under 18 months and I expect it will last much longer than that......5-7 years, I figure, before the technology is out-dated. My last 'N'-technology (N-600 series) Router lasted over 5 years, still works, but its too slow/out-dated...so this is a good step up and not at all too expensive either.

The unit has a predetermined name and password for a secure connection (which can be changed if necessary. The AC configuration means it will compatible with newer products and it also has 2 frequency bands to connect to. It also lets you know if there is any internet connection problem with the modem. It is a hughe upgrade over my previous linksys router which kept dropping its wifi connection.

With this router I get the full 200mbps direct ethernet connection to my desktop, and at least 90mbps to multiple wireless devices. A big improvement for a reasonable price.

I wanted the more expensive one to make sure I could use multiple devices at one time. The store was sold out of the more expensive units. So I settled for the cheaper AC100 and I regret nothing. I run four devices this unit. Everything is cool. In the fifteen years, I've never had a problem with NETGEAR technology. Tell the big brains to keep up the good work. Thanks y'all!

Video from Netflix, YouTube, etc. loads within a couple seconds and there has been no buffering at all. I'm very pleased with the performance of the router. The settings interface with the router is intuitive and offers full control. I recommend this router to anyone looking to increase Wi-Fi speed.

As soon as I open it I notice the nice sleek design and I cry a little from its amazingness. Setting it up was very easy with the instructions inside. The netgear app is so easy for me to use I thought it couldn't be real. My home which was was terrible with my WiFi was singing joyous songs because the signal went through the whole house like a summer breeze in the meadow. I doubt this router will ever fail me but if it does I will surely grab a new one and enjoy this whole process over again.

Ther is no delay while using any of these devices. They never disconnect. For what I need the router for(Internet, streaming videos, movies, viewing photos across the network, I can't think of a better router for the money.

This signal is strong and I was able to set up quickly. I didn't miss a beat. I also found out the problem was with my internet service provider not giving me the promised 'speeds'. It was like I had to reboot everything everyday.
