I bought this to replace my Xfinity combined modem router. It was not difficult to set up using the QR code. My difficulty came with the net gear router which is another story and another review. This modem seems very adequate it also is very small and lightweight .

Worth it!
It doubled my Internet speeds. I did have to make a few calls to properly activate it. But it was worth it.
My only critique, is that it only has 1 Ethernet port in the back. So you will absolutely need to buy a router. But that was fine with me since I already had the Router.

Good Little Modem
I'm no network or modem engineer but this thing works. I definitely am not using it to its full potential speed wise with my ISP, but wanted the extra 'room' to grow without jumping into DOCSIS 3.1 modems. I get faster speeds than my ISP advertises but not sure if that's a result of the modem or just the network. Haven't had to do any resets nor have I had any other issues with it. Like I said, it just works.

This modem is very easy to hook up it and it works perfectly with Optimum Online!! I get super great speeds I'm happy with it.. it save me the $10 fee that optimum charges now..
Im not happy with its construction! Its a little flimsy base. The ethernet port broke on me. It would have been great if i could mout this to the wall.. the first one was replaced by the company I was super happy about that and it was very easy with customer support.
But other than the minor issues I told you about I am totally happy with the speeds the ease-of-use Emma simplicity of the small little modem that has crazy amount of speed built in.

Smooth transition
I cut the cable with Direct TV and installed this modem easily. I had to split the cable because the phone provider modem had to have a phone insert for the landline. I live in a low area and sometimes my cell phone doesn't work. Just register first and visit the web site update any firmware and easy peasy.. Thanks Netgear for a quality product.

I replaced the Comcast cable modem with the NetGear CM700 High Speed DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem when the Comcast Modem quit working. The modem is a 24/7/365 type device that must give dependable service over a long period of time. The CM700 design allows plenty of air-flow through the device to help keep it cool. It allows me to utilize the maximum bandwidth available from my isp.

I purchased this Netgear CM700 modem to replace my ISP's modem. Setup was super easy. Gave the Mac id to my ISP and was online in less than 45 min. So far I've been very pleased and have not had to reset it as of yet. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to replace their current ISP modem.

We purchased the modem to save on monthly fees from our internet service provider. The product had a high rating on amazon and we decided to give it a try as most of the reviews were positive. However, set up was not as intuitive as we thought it would be. We had to go back and look at reviews to find that others experienced the same issue in the set up process. We spent a day without internet as we attempted to configure our modem in conjunction with our netgear router. We called the cable company to trouble shoot the issue but were unable to get a resolution. The modem and router are now working and I couldn't tell you how it happened, but I can tell you that we are thoroughly happy with the purchase. We have had no other tech issues and have been enjoying a seamless internet experience with our netgear modem and router.

If You're Looking for Speed Look no Further
I replaced my old modem/router with this modem and a stand alone router. This modem provides the full bandwidth available from my ISP (one gigabit per second. With 32 download channels and 8 upload channels you're no longer limited by your modem bandwidth. Don't settle for less than the fastest download and uploads - why waste your own time when this modem gives best performance at a great price. Modem was extremely easy to setup and I was connected to ISP within about 5 minutes.

The modem works exactly as expected. Positive is that the LEDs are vidible but not disturbingly bright.
The UI - which most users don't need to access is very basic with unimpressive design.
The only essential function is to change the password- very limiting: the user name cannot he changed.
The survey SW seems to have a bug.

I bought this cable modem to avoid renting one for internet from my internet provider. I've only had it for 9 days but appears to be working for my house, so I am happy with my internet access and speed at this point. I was notified by Comcast that my router was no longer supported and I wasn't getting the best performance as a result. Naturally they want you to rent a gateway from them. Needless to say, that wasn't going to happen. After much research, I settled on the CM700, and I don't regret it for a second. Previous download speed hovered around 65 Mb/s. With the CM700, I'm seeing speeds around 119 Mb/s, and I couldn't be happier.

My part of the Charter/Spectrum network recently went to 32/8 DOCSIS 3.0, so I replaced my previous CM600 with a CM700 - at present the highest capacity NETGEAR Cable Modem certified for use on the Charter/Spectrum network. The Motorola Surfboard I was using was barely getting me half the speed I was paying for. Coupled with my nighthawk router the new CM700 is getting me speeds often well above what I'm paying for!! Excellent cable modem!!

I had to buy this modem when making changes to my internet service. It was a great price. The install was very easy; however, when I had to "activate" the modem it was late at night and my cable company wasn't opened. I call NetGear's customer service and they walked me through all the steps. The modem is sleek and blends in well with my NetGear Router.

Fixed several issues at home
This product, along with our new Netgear router, stopped a buffering problem when viewing movies on our smart TV.
We have no problems with the rest of our WiFi devices anymore, as well. WiFi was continually shutting down, requiring a restart, but not now.
These two products were recommended by my son in law. I am happy I took his advice.

I upgraded from a Motorola MB7220 8x4 to this one. What a difference it made. I have a family of five and we all use a lot of bandwidth and this smoothed out all the kinks I had. I hear that the CM1000 is the way to go but didn't want to spend that kind of money on it and I'm very pleased with the decision that I made.

Modem was very easy to hook up and be running in about 15 min. Takes you thru all the steps. If you having problems with your internet and your modem is a few years old, it may be time to upgrade. A lot of providers updated there service so you need a Docsis 3.0 modem for new speeds.

I've only been using this modem for about a week now. Seems to be working very good. Installation with Opimum service was a breeze, once I gave them the information they needed, it was up and running in no time. Its small, looks good and works as intended. It is also 3.0 rated, which should be future proof for any possible internet speed increase. I only wish I bought it sooner, would have saved a few bucks on modem rental fee, which recently doubled. Also the delivery from Amazon was fast and it arrived a few days ahead of schedule. I definitely would recommend it.

I bought this to replace my xFinity leased modem. I have no idea why I waited this long to do this as this purchase will literally pay for itself in approximately 9 months. I have no good reason why I waited so long. I encourage everybody reading this to dump your modem lease right now and spend some money on this modem. This modem is great. It is a 32 channel modem meaning it can download all 32 of xFinity's channels. I believe 32 is the max xFinity utilizes. I probably could have jumped up to a Docsis 3.1 modem; however, this isn't mainstream yet and this Docsis 3.0 modem by Netgear is giving me insane speeds. I pay for xFinity's 250Mbps internet plan and I'm consistently seeing speeds around 287Mbps! So, in a nutshell, I'm very happy with this Netgear modem!

Received my Orbi system for Christmas and couldn't be happier. From the time I took it out of the packaging until it had it up and running couldn't have been more than 30 minutes and I'm certainly no 'techie'! Everything on my Wi-Fi network just worked! There aren't any better or reliable modems at the capability levels of this modem at this price. I thought my modem stopped working, but it was due to an outage from my ISP. anyway, when my ISP told me it was a faulty modem, I had no trouble getting into contact with Netgear and they said they would provide another one. So, great customer service as well.

I have purchased several DOCSIS modems in the past - and each of them had a tendency to drop randomly for a few seconds every now and then. I did some research and all of those modems had a chip in common that was known to have this issue. I then researched Modems that didn't have that chip and landed on the CM700. I paired this with an ORBI - and couldn't be happier. I no longer get drops and my network is very solid. I have 450m/s down into the house - works great.

Great speed, decent set up
The unit was no plug and play on my xfinity system, i needed to have comcast register the product. And then a 2min reset was needed inorder for the unit to fully connect to the service.
Overall this paired with nee access points is obtaining 180mb/s while i only pay for 150, and my Wi-Fi is testing at 120mb/s.
Great speeds, when paired with running CAT6e to every room.

Very nice product, I upgraded from CM400 (love it), since I was upgrading the router I went ALL IN and got a nighthawk as well, LOVE NET GEAR!!! tripled my speed and very simple set up. LOve teh interface as the genie gives me an option to go in thru IP portal or use the app.

This modem is a truly great value. Most people would be wasting money to go for a more expensive option. So unless you're a power user whose rocking a 1000mbps plan on a fiber line to your place than this is the modem you will want.

It was easy to set up I had the simple model couple years ago that maximum download speed of 250 mbps. I got this because my internet provider Upgraded my speed for free now. Now I have 350 mbps download and 12 mbps upload. More than I need but I need to upgrade my WiFi speed in the future it can handle up to 1.4 Gbps download speed so it is a future proof hardware for me!!

This is the best modem we ever had

I really like the CM700 modem. It has been working great. The 32 downstream channels really make a difference when it comes to streaming to multiple 4K TVs. There are no buffering or stuttering problems while streaming. I would highly recommend this modem.

I pay for 100 Mbps from my Internet server, but with my old Motorola modem, I was only receiving around 30 Mbps. The new Netgear modem now, at times, hits 110 Mbps! The speed, and Wifi capabilities have increased exponentially! I would highly recommend this modem to everyone!

USB for what?
It works well as a modem/router. Been a fan of Netgear for years. But the USB port connects only to a limited number of devices. this is not explained in the packaging. Very frustrating as I wanted to attach an external hard drive and it will not find even the recommended USB device. Four or five call to support and still no resolution.

Replaced so-called better modem from my ISP
I replaced the so-called better modem from my ISP with a Netgear CM-700. According to my ISP phone support, it took two attempts for the CM-700 to connect. But once it connected, everything has been running smooth and fast. No dropouts or lagging detected. I am very satisfied and am saving approx. $12 US of monthly modem rental.

Lasted a year then died
Appears the fan unexpectedly died after using it continuous for over a year, moving houses and ISP, and shutting it off for a year then turning it back on. Made weird fan like noises and sadly Netgear wasn’t able to replace it? Seriously? I’m hoping my Arris modem lasts longer. Come on Netgear - if it’s manufacture defect it’s a simple fix/replacement and keep me as a happy customer. While it lasted, the modem was working fine and hence the 3/5 stars.

This modem died after 8 months. Hours spent on phone with ISP who kindly did everything possible to help despite it not being their modem. Then hours spent with Netgear, who told me modem was fine and problem was with router. Called Asus for supposed router issue. Wanted to charge me 90 dollars for extended service plan which is about 20 dollars below price of new router. Had them email me help link and fixed router myself. The next day, no internet again. Bought new Netgear router. Called ISP provider again and told me everything fine on their end. Called Netgear for help with new router. 2 hours later... still only 40-100 mbps download speeds with ISP plan for 400 mbps. Another 2 hours rebooting Netgear modem and signal from ISP. This morning: no internet. Now purchasing new Motorola modem, returning Netgear router. After extensive research there is a bad chip in netgear cm700 modem. Avoid all modems with Intel Puma chip!!!

Very easy to install, clear directions and extremely easy and efficient to use. Have a 200MBPS connection and i am now able to utilize it effectively. Made the decision to purchase my own modem and router versus renting from the the internet provider. Modem is super easy to install and register. Had some trouble with the connection but it had nothing to do with the router or modem and everything to do with the service. Once we were up and running the modem and router (Nighthawk connected for a fast and easy internet connection. Both units are compact and light and I am very satisfied and pleased with the decision to purchase Netgear rather than rent equipment. Reliable, efficient, easy to use, and great internet support.

I got this Modem for a Spectrum line, after going from Verizon (non-fiber) to Optimum and now to Spectrum... I can say that this is the BEST router out there. Only thing you have to do is ensure you have it connected to a computer so you can activate it or else it will not show up on the providers network. With this baby, I am even getting MORE Mbps than what I got. Get this bad boy!

It wasn’t too hard to set up. I just had to call my internet provider and give them some numbers on the bottom of the modem. Then I called NetGear and they walked me through how to download the latest firmware. It was pretty simple and my modem and router have been running smoothly. I can tell the difference in the speed that things download on to my cell. Wish I had upgraded a long time ago.

I used this simply to replace my Netgear CM400 (340Mbps because my new Cable system I just upgraded now provides me with double the Ethernet and WiFi supply. It would be worthless paying more per month without upping to this, which now gives me up to 1.4 Gbps. "Speed matters"

I recently purchased Netgear cable modem. The product is great yet for someone like me, who doesn’t really know much about modems and routers would be nice to include in the box more info regarding the purpose of the particular product/model. I did not know that i also need to purchase router separately. Other than that everything worked out good.

Bought this and router, but it seems after some time, NETGEAR holds up the updates for a ransom. Until you pay more money, they will not allow anymore updates. Needless to say I dumped NETGEAR for another brand. Never AGAIN!!!!!!!

Would Get 5 Stars Except…
The product seems to be working very well (so far and the pricing was affordable.
My challenge / reason for taking away one star: When I needed to ask a related question and called customer service the representative (who did a good job answering that question), then insisted on giving me detailed information on promotions / warranties, despite my saying several times, kindly, respectfully and with my reason for this… that I was not interested. It was clear she wouldn’t hear me and it felt icky to essentially be forced to listen to her sales pitch unless I was willing to hang up on her (which I didn’t want to do out of courtesy).
Please forbear potential typos here; I’m typing on a tiny screen with tiny keys and it’s not easy to edit.

This product works great. We also have a nighthawk router but theres' no indication of the wifi button it's just a black oblong button as is the one below it which I think is the on/off. A light or logo would be great....something you could easily see especially us over 60.

sorry, i never even got to open it. it was not the correct modem for my set up. i needed a voice modem. and, according to my isp, netgear did not have a voice modem i could use. had to stick to a voice modem that was also capable of handling only 200MB speed. i've had no luck with my isp, i'm extremely annoyed with them and had to stick to a voice modem that could manage my "slow speed". if they'd have gotten their service to me right the first time things would be different. it's optimum......they suck.

Wonderful Modem
I wanted a modem that would fit my internet speed needs, but also one that didn't emit too much unwanted lights or noise. I am a remote worker whose office is unfortunately in my bedroom. My prior modem was outdated for my new service provider's speeds, and it had a very obnoxious blue light that showed through the casing and was noticeable when the lights are off. I tested this one out in my return period and was very happy with both it's function, but also with the soft green lights on the front, with very little backlight showing through it's casing. Yet still it up enough to read what I need to on the front.

I called to investigate an issue that my ISP identified thinking that Netgear would be able to help. The inherent defect with the this model is well documented and recognized by Netgear however Netgear has done nothing to correct the problem for their customers. When you use this model the max Mbps you can get is ~400 even though they say it's certified up to 800. When I attempted to get a replacement or a discount off another product that would live up to its claims I was told to go pound salt and that I would need to pay full price. Very dissatisfied with the support provided and the false claims of their product. Additionally, to not stand by consumers when they know of a defect and provide false claims of higher speeds is criminal. When confronted and asked to make it right, they reply with sucks to be you go buy another one of our products.

Terrible Customer Service
Purchased this modem to take advantage of better Comcast Xfinity speeds. Had problems getting it to function. Called customer service for help after Comcast basically said that it appeared to be working from their end and issue was perhaps with the modem or my wireless router which is also Netgear branded.
Spent an hour or more with customer service rep from India who was both condescending and not very helpful. She ultimately claimed that the modem was likely fine and issue was with my Netgear router. Said she would be happy to help address the issue if I paid $99 for a new warranty for a device that worked just fine prior to buying the new modem.
I declined the sleazy grab for money and returned the modem after spending nearly 6 hours trying to get things to work. Also pledged to never buy a Netgear device again. Went into Comcast the next day and got one of their xFi gateways which is now giving me nearly a Gbps download speed for the same price I was paying before.
When will companies realize that they can no longer take advantage of their customers? Also, when will they learn that outsourcing customer service to India costs them more than the benefit of paying reps what amounts to pennies on the dollar compared to paying someone in the US to do the job?

Functions well, with strong signal powering my wifi network. One complaint is the IP address attached to the device places me 100miles from my home, which interferes with my online sports subscription. Otherwise, all works well, and compatible with my Orbi router.

It works good. It was a bit difficult to get all connected and ai even had to call Netgear, my internet supplier and my Mesh’s supplier. I called them all to get it running. All of them were keen to help me except Netgear. They were not friendly and just “washed their hands” and passed the “issue” to the others.
It all turned fine but I was disappointed by their total lack of interest in helping me.
My Mesh’s supplier and the Internet supplier went above and beyond to help me!
So, product good but disappointing service.
I will give them 5 even though they don’t fully deserve it.

Help! my old modem died, Netgear to the rescue.
My internet went out and when it came back up my modem died something they did wipe all the instructions out of it. We rushed over to the local Big Box and to our relief they had some Netgear product that met the 4k requirement. This particular model has enough features to keep us happy for several years.

I recently purchased the NetGear CM700 modem so I could get rid of my Comcast modem/router that I was being charged $15/month to rent. The modem was easy to setup. First step was to take the modem to Comcast so they could get the MAC address off the unit. Then took it home and installed the coxial cable in the back and then the power cord. Then plugged in the power cord. It took a few minutes for the modem to cycle a few times and set itself up. You will need the Xfinity app so you can then log into your account to activate the modem. You will also need to purchase a router if you want to have WiFi. I purchased a NetGear Nighthawk AX5 AX4200(RAX43v2). You will need the NetGear Nighthawk app to setup the router. I decided to go with a separate modem and router combination. The most common unit to fail is the modem due to the heat they generate. I figured if the modem went out after the warranty, that's all I would have to replace for $80. They each come with a one year warranty. I have had the units up and running for one week now without any issues.

I upgraded my speed with xfinity and was told that I needed a faster Modem that was compatible to xfinity modems and I researched different ones for two days and decided on CM700. It works perfect and I was able to use my Orbi wifi with it. I would recommend.

This modem replaced another Netgear modem that was only two years old and kept having to be rebooted. I thought it was an issue with my ISP but when I checked with them and everything was good, I decided to start with a new modem and go from there. I have had it for a week now and it works great. Luckily, I purchased an extended warranty on the old one at Best Buy so what I paid for the old one was credited to the new one.

I now own a router and a modem from Netgear and have had no problem with either of them. I initially thought the modem was flawed but it turned out to be MY fault and not the machine. I'm not too computer literate, unfortunatey. The customer service person I talked to figured out my problem fairly quickly, so I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the whole experience. I would definitely recommend the Netgear products to anyone.

A Renewed CM700
I got my CM700 from amazon a year ago. I did not know it was a renewed model at first. Since I could get up to 80Mbps download speed on steam with a 900Mbps plan from Xfinity. But recently, the internet is not stable. I get 3Mbps sometimes and 20Mbps sometimes. Overall, it has good performance. But it lasts too short. I will not purchase any renewed model again.

Bought the modem in March to try and avoid paying monthly modem fees with xFinity. The modem worked flawlessly until 5 months later in August when it suddenly stopped connecting with the xFinity service. All troubleshooting narrowed the problem down to the modem (an xFinity modem connects fine). Trying to get an RMA with Netgear has been extremely frustrating. Netgear seems intent in throwing as many hurdles in front until you finally just give up. Congratulations Netgear in getting my money for a modem that only lasted 5 months. It's a shame, too. I used to like Netgear equipment, even for use at a company where I decide on equipment purchases as their IT Director.

Currently, I have three locations that I work from and each site has different router equipment. Why? Because I just wasn’t happy with the way the first two performed. The 3rd time was “a charm”. The NetGear router installed easily and after a little on line support, I was up and operating with zero issues! I bought it 3.5 years ago when we signed up for internet service through Comcast and found that we could save a lot on modem rental by buying it ourselves. I'm glad we got this model that supports up to 800 Mbps back then because it's still plenty higher than the internet service we're getting through Comcast. We recently had some flaky speeds and reliability issues (the modem's downstream LED would blink instead of being steady) but it was found that the issue was the cable line coming into our house and not the modem.

Modem has issues with remaining locked on to ISP. At a rate of about every other day, the modem loses upload/download contact with the ISP. Sometimes I have to reboot the modem, and sometimes it succeeds by itself. When connected, the internet speeds are great.

I purchased it three months ago to replace my old modem. This modem runs very hot which causes my internet to be intermittent. I had netgear replaced it ( have to pay shipping and handling! The replacement modem also runs hot but so far so good. I wouldn’t recommend this modem.

This has been a good modem. The two things I don’t like-it has to be unpowered two minutes for a full memory reset. And 2-if Comcast specifies the protocol why don’t they support the modem? The protocol should give them visibility into whether the modem likes their signal. But they bounce me to Netgear support who tries to sell service after the 90-day warranty and it is Comcast’s signal that is at fault!!! These racketeers should make this experience simple for clients if they control the rules.

Purchased netgear modem on recommendation from Bust Buy employee. Bought it from Amazon - trotting install my existing eero mesh network. Not at all successful. It’s probably doable but I couldn’t get it to work for my home application. Netgear agent couldn’t talk me through process.

I live in an old house and it is very difficult for Wi-Fi systems. I had a cable system that came with a modem and had to pull the cable system out because being included Wi-Fi could not cover any of my house. I initially bought Google Wi-Fi. It worked well but I thought that I lost too much with my signal. With orbi, I get twice the speed that I was able to get from the Google wi-fi system

A Crazy Good Modem!
I switched from DSL to Cable and I needed to buy a cable modem I was sure of instead of making monthly payments for an off-brand piece of cable company equipment. Since I already owned a Netgear M900 high-speed router which works perfectly, the choice was clear. Installation was simple and 4K streaming is Crazy Good!

Needless to say, lightning does take out cable modems even on a surge protector. Mine would not work after being fried so I bought the same brand only to have the model not in working order when it arrived. I saw that I already had a NETGEAR router so decided to make it a pair with the cable modem. Have had no problems since installation. Only wish that the owners manual would be included in the box.

Simple to connect. Must call internet service provider to finish. They will tell you if it’s working. Then connect router. Greatly improved my internet. No more stream freezes when I run the microwave.

My internet providers “best” modem at top performance produced only 215mbps sporadically. As soon as I replaced it with the Netgear CM700 it more than doubled and remains consistent. Thoroughly happy with the quality and ease of set up with my Google Wifi Router(s.

After struggling with Suddenlink Tech support over 4 days with no joy. I went out and picked up a CM700 to replace my prior Netgear Cable Modem. It appears that Suddenlink corrupted the Mac Address Table on their side. The new Mac Address applied and everything worked immediately.

Cable Modem Replacement
Replaced my Spectrum cable modem with the best brand on the market. I was having a huge problem with Hue lights. The spectrum modem need to be rebooted many times, and when it did, it took from 3 to 6 days for it to re-sync. After replacing the modem, I have NO problems re-syncing. My network problems are with the ISP and no longer due to the equipment. Thanks NegGear!

My internet service provider has great speeds but subpar equipment . I bought this modem from NETGEAR and paired it with the nighthawk router and my gaming life has never been better and the kids upstairs have no problems streaming across the house . Let’s not even talk about the features of the router because they’re nothing but great but I’ve been highly satisfied and that’s the reason I’m doing this review because I’m a review checker and want ppl to know this is well worth the money !

We were having trouble with our WiFi connection. Our router was 6 years old. With Covid-19, I was forced to work from home and needed my WiFi to work. I bought a new router, it worked intermittently. I brought it back to the store (which is another story, and couldn’t enter due to Covid-19. I worked with an associate in the lobby (one customer at a time allowed in the lobby) and he suggested a get a Netgear router. (I already had a Netgear modem). I took his advice and bought it. Hooked it up and it’s the MOAR (mother of all routers)!! I think I can get connection in the neighbors yard!! So pleased, now I can get my work done!!

After purchasing 4 Arris 32X8 modems in a row, each failing within month or two of the last, decided to give the Netgear CM700 a chance. Since installation I have had no issues and have even seen better speeds than I had with the Arris modems. Hoping this modem lasts for a few years.

Previous modem (2014 model, not capable of handling ISP speeds ?.. internet speeds not close to what was being purchased ...This modem appeared to fix issue ...therefore, I also replaced 75 foot ethernet cable (5e to 6a) ... computer was relocated to different location in home ... now receiving download speeds equal or greater than "plan" purchased... would recommend the NETGEAR Cable Modem (32x8) DOCSIS 3.0 (CM700) .

Wow! Getting 145 Mbps WiFi and 236 Mbps wired. Great performance. So much better then the setup Spectrum was renting me. Could have paid for the modem twice over if I would have done this a year ago on the rental savings from Spectrum.

All the customer service agents I talked to were very respectful, patient and pleasant. They explained things in a very calm manner even though, I was took a while to understand. Very happy with the experience. Thanks.

Excellent Performers
We have 600mbps Xfinity service. RAV10 router and CM700 modem are perfect WiFi 6 combo to provide high availability service. We have 20 devices including printers, Sonos speakers, Google TV, phones and tablets. Very satisfied with products and Netgear phone support.

Obsolete
Docsis3.0 is being phased out. My internet provider no longer supports this in their system. Returning the modem was super easy though, so I'm pretty happy. Replaced it with a Docsis3.1, which is working well.
