Nice Router, With One Disappointment
Quite a nice router, nice app access to it. We have satellite internet access, which gets impacted by sky conditions during weather events. We also have a very weak mobile network signal here, so wifi calling works best for us. We use a GlocalMe mobile hotspot with a T-Mobile connected SIM during stormy conditions and satellite internet is out. Unfortunately, the Nighthawk 4G LTE 6 AX1800 does not connect well to the weak signal, not as well as the GlocalMe mobile hotspot does, even with a couple of small whip antennas added. We are not able to use the SIM in the AX1800. So, the SIM went back into the GlocalMe - hence the 4 stars rather than 5. I suppose if we installed a mobile network directional antenna and amplifier it might work, so if we come to feel strongly enough about it we could try that. Otherwise, its been a great update for our old Netgear WNR2000 that cost a little more than the non LTE capable model.

Old router died. Bought L******* brand; Only set available is via cell phone - poo-poo max grande. (Tech term.)
Netgear would allow set up via IP addr. 192.168.1.1 on attached network computer. AND let my Internet feed run at full 500 MB speed!! Two ports are feeding two 24 port switches at 1000BaseT - 13 computers, 4 laptops, 8 NASs, and 3 printers; plus a couple of WiFi devices. Would recommend.

Be more than carefull....
This is a follow up to my earlier post with "mixed" success. After now 2 days, it is clear the unit IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VERIZON. Very unstable internet connection with some hours of connectivity followed by hours of up and down every minute - or no connectivity at all. Netgear tech service finally admitted that their unit was not yet compatible with all channels of Verizon service. (Verizon tech service says this unit is NOT COMPATIBLE I had to lead the tech service person to this web page where Netgear proudly states it is now compatible with Verizon. Tech service said that was not true. I got switched to on line sales and processed a return. Huge waste of time and extremely frustrating!!!!

Awesome coverage
This router works fantastic with my Verizon MiFi 6620L Hotspot and TP Link Deco 60 Mesh System. I have a 3,000 SQ Ft house and have no drop outs of the WiFi signals. I took the SIM card out of the Jetpack and placed it in the router and plugged my Deco Mesh System into the ports with help from the NetGear Support Staff. I was also able to purchase an extended 2yr accidental warranty and phone support plan at a discount too.

Bad for Technical People
I bought this shortly after it was released. It was supposed to work on T-Mobile networks. Unforntunately, T-Mobile says this about the device, "Your phone doesn't support Extended Range LTE or Voice over LTE technology. Key T-Mobile network technology. For the best experience on the T-Mobile network, you'll need a phone that supports these key technologies:
Extended Range LTE helps deliver blazing-fast speeds on the T-Mobile network.
Voice over LTE provides crisp, clear audio quality and helps prevent dropped calls.
We are not able to tell if this phone is unlocked.
Contact the original carrier to find out if your
phone’s locked or visit a T-Mobile store to discover
its status. We can't unlock phones from other networks."
While it will work on T-Mobile, it is certainly not well designed for it.
The User-Interface is child-like and overly simplified. It does not provide good access to the settings and features like other routers I have used. It also does not provide good access to the modem features. It's AX support is also not up to the highest standards.
I feel like I wasted $300 on it. I'm going to try to fix it with some open-source software when I get some time to work on it. As for now I feel that it is not at all worth the money or time to bring it home.

Nice features. Good price point. However, so far it has proven to be very slow in failover to cell service even though advertised as "seamless". Customer service was awful and unhelpful. One hung up when she did not understand the problem and the other said she would have to do more research and call back. She never did! Do not recommend if you are looking for the seamless data connection.

Nighthawk AX4/LAX20
As a consumer router with a cat6 LTE modem it is an adequate product. Both my wife and I telework for major corporations and performs to task.
Because we live on a farm outside of cable and fiber internet coverage I've had to teach myself the ins and outs of LTE modems. This is the first integrated router/modem I've used. Previously used a cat3 AC341U modem connected to a Nighthawk AC1750 using a Cradlepoint CBA750B bridge router. The detail over information available to evaluate connection quality is disappointing. I would expect a product with older technology (cat6 modems are several years old) that purports to be capable of carrier aggregation to at least have the ability to show me what bands it sees and which it is using. More specifically I should be able to see detected signal strength and signal quality for each band detected. Ideally there should be an advanced function to allow for band locking.
I'll be the first to admit that I was spoiled with the detail level of the Cradlepoint bridge routers interface. But that detail level greatly aided me on several occasions to diagnose issues with my carrier provider were their issue vs being an issue with my equipment/network. Event logging being one of those things I no longer have.

Netgear 4G LTE Ax1800 (LAX20 loses its connection to the cellular network every 5-10 minutes. Often requiring a reboot to reconnect which takes about 5 minutes to perform. I am using verizon network which the ad states this device is accepted for but other sources say it is not. Works fine when connected but rarely is connected. Will probably be returning this device if It does not improve.

Replaced it with AC2200 LTE Mesh Router (LBR20)
4G is my only connection. Could not get it to hold a connection, many calls to Netgear support and to Verizon. It would connect and then randomly drop the connection. Netgear support offered to send a replacement, but since I'd only had it a few days, I asked for (and received) an RMA for a refund. I replaced it with the AC2200 LTE Mesh Router (LBR20), which works fine.

Much wanted
Great router much anticipated rated 4 stars because lack of LTE broadband options. 3G is being phased out . In my area I get very little signal with antenna although it actually appears better on the AX4 than my mr1100 with same antenna. I also wish there were options to limit to a certain band on my mr1100 there are ways to do this if so on the AX4 I am unaware . But it has the well built feeling expected from Netgear and have been wanting to get my hands on this . Worth getting if in a rural area and decent signal even better in city depending on plan of coarse.

This router doesn't work plug and play. We have an att prepaid plan and we had to go into setting and change the apn settings. I am using this as a LTE only modem for a jobsite, It looks sharp, it have plenty of ports, and The software (including the remote access) are excellent. Only gripe is it does seem to struggle with occasional drops where it doesn't read the SIM card. Which often can be fixed with a powercycle, but is less than ideal compared to provider issued hotspots and lte-modems.

The router buffers way too much
I recently upgraded my internet service to fiber 500 up and down. Since making the switch and putting this router in place all devices will randomly buffer. This happens more then when I had Spectrum 300x10. All of my cabling is cat 5e or cat 6 and all of my devices are directly connected to the router via cable or wifi. I had a few switches in the network too but had to removed them because the router doesnt seem to know how to stop a broadcast storm. I fully expect that I will need to replace the router and with a different brand.

Works with EiotClub!
Finally! A “truly” unlocked device that works with the budget friendly EiotClub triple play service (works with att, T-Mobile, and Verizon networks). Includes a lot of nice features including LTE service selection and signal meter (dbi), data tracking, remote access, and more. All of the top cellular/LTE cameras on the market failed me because none of them are fully unlocked (for a budget service like EiotClub). This device lets me run multiple WiFi cams (much cheaper and better quality than the LTE cams on the market) vs just 1 sim per camera with trail/LTE cams. This device is saving me hundreds of dollars!

This is a great device. I inserted my sim card and bingo you have instant internet access through my cell phone provider. Then I was able to connect my Laptop,Television, and other devices via wifi to the Nighthawk. You can also take it with you when you travel. It's great for internet on the pinch.

Perfect for my setup.
Great signal and did exactly what I needed it to excluding the SIM card functionality but that could be because of some configuration issues with the service provider. I just plugged in my nighthawk M6 into the WAN port of this one and it bridged over perfectly and I still have functionality of the gigabyte switch to run dedicated hard lines to my server and tower. which was the real purpose of the purchase. Ironically, the nighthawk took over control of the WiFi completely so instead of having 4 broadcast SSID’s I still only have the 2 SSID’s.

We attempt to use the router through Verizon. We have been fighting this modem since we bought it. continuously kicks devices off of the router and drops internet at random. We have to reboot the modem several times a days. We have even went through the set up after a hard restart. nothing helps.

LAX20 Netgear AX4 4G LTE router
This router worked out of the box for verizon sim card. The main advantage of this router is it works both as a hotspot with a SIM card and a wifi router. I could give it a 5 star rating if it was a 5G router.

Great LTE Router
Finally a LTE router that works the way it should. Super easy to set up using ATT sim card. I like that they included a sim card just in case you don't have one (needs activation. Benchmarked networked device file transfer at around 150MBps 5ghz. It easily handles the max speed of our LTE plan at 50Mbps. The app works great and makes it easy to manage the network remotely.
Overall a great device.

Speed not faster
This is the worst Netgear router I ever had. My son convinced me to purchase to replace another Netgear router that was working perfectly fine. He claims this one would give me a faster speed than what I was getting with the old router. I have not seen it yet. In fact it's slower. I cannot get into the app that I downloaded on my cell phone. Password won't work. I am at a loss as to what to do. Therefore I am just appalled because this one cost 3 times more than the router that I previously used.

Only for T-Mobile
We live in a area with no internet, none! So I Purchased this router because it said it worked with ATT Sim cards. It does not! Twice went to the ATT store and they activated 2 different sim cards for me and neither worked to give us a hotspot. Finally one ATT agent attempted to set up router manually and it came up requesting a TMobile login. The app for Nighthawk is terrible! You can’t do anything on the app until you have internet connection, well what about the people who have no internet and trying to set it up?!? Frustrating! No paperwork or manual in the box, had to go back to website and look up PDF for manual to find out that you needed LTE antennas. Oh, which you have to order 3rd party, because Netgear doesn’t sell them. Overall this was a terrible experience! Equipment didn’t work, wasn’t provided with everything needed to use with LTE only. The to top it all off and weeks of trying to get this thing to work and it didn’t, I called to return it and they tried to tell me that I only had 14 days! They did finally let me return it, but only because I told them how it says compatible with ATT and it clearly isn’t. Why don’t you make a simple router that works for hotspots for all us rural people who don’t have WiFi of fiber.

WiFi is good - but NO VPN support
This router is fast and easy to set up. The main downside is that there is NO VPN service on it and there is NO way to put a VPN service on it. This is especially disappointing seeing as how it comes with the Netgear Armor (Bit Defender security app and Netgear touts this routers' security features, but without a VPN its isn't nearly as secure as it could be.
I would have rated it 5 stars if it had a VPN service on it

Never got it to work for LTE w verizon
Had to return. The unit would disconnect every 5-15 minutes for exact 5 seconds, connect to 3G, and then to LTE, and repeat - no matter the settings or firmware version. Customer service was no help, blaming it on the provider. I found a thread of people having the same problem, and not a single one figured out how to fix it. All of the units were returned. Would not recommend.

Outstanding for RV
I recently replaced my Verizon Jetpac with the Nighthawk AX4 in our RV because our Jetpac’s battery needed to be replaced twice in a year. Very glad that this device worked with our Verizon sim card. Having the Nighthawk plugged into electrical power means that we don’t need to worry about any battery issues. I was able to easily connect all of my on board devices to the Nighthawk with relative ease. Very glad we made the switch!

Don't Buy
I bought the MK62 system for my home and it never worked really great. I purchased the extended warranty and 2 year service contract and called several times during set up and later, when I got a new printer that I had to get hooked up through blue tooth. I have verizon fios and just an average size house and still experienced buffering and the signal never got to my upstairs. So, as far as product usability goes, I would give Netgear a 2.
The tech support, however, was wonderful. I can't tell you how patient, responsive and attentive they were to my problems. I would give tech support a 10, even though my problems were never 100 percent resolved.
Now, to why I am writing this review....I am still in my warranty period and my satellite stopped working...meaning it doesn't turn on. I worked through the issue with technical support and finally, after several times contacting them, it was declared that I could get a replacement satellite....However, I just received and email saying that Netgear could not send me a new satellite, unless could provide proof of purchase. Oh, and by the way, I would have to send back the satellite at my expense, to receive a replacement for a defective unit.
Well, when I registered the device on line, for the warranty, Netgear offered a 2 year extended warranty and service contract, which I bought. I can not find the receipt for the unit purchase, and even went to Best Buy, where I purchased the unit from, They could not find the receipt either and I feel that I did my due diligence to find it. Nowhere in the literature /email /advertisement from Netgear, about purchase of the extended warranty, did it say that I had to have proof of purchase to receive service, or replacement. On the contrary, they provided plenty of service without it.
Question: in order to comply with consumer laws and in order to be transparent, shouldn't the contract, with all of its fine print have been provided to me/the consumer, prior to payment for the service contract? Shouldn't I have been made aware of all of the technicalities of the contract, prior to purchase? Netgear is just playing a legal mumbo jumbo hide and seek game with me, to get out of replacing a defective unit.
I believe that the warranty protection should guarantee that unit should be free of substantial defects and will function properly for a reasonable period of time...i.e. at least the length of the extended service contract. Netgear states that they need proof of purchase because of resellers. OK. I understand. But I am an old lady that went to Best Buy; needed lots of help setting up the unit and I didn't get it from a reseller working out of his ebay warehouse. All I am asking for is compliance with the express and implied warranty. And, yes, I contacted customer service and got nowhere. So, folks. Save yourself aggravation. For not replacing a defective unit under warranty, I give a ZERO rating. Potential customers, if you are taking the time to read this and other reviews of Netgear... beware.

Honestly, the worst router I’ve ever owned. Randomly certain devices WILL NOT connect to the 2.4GHz network. I had to pull my old router out and connect it to this one for the devices to be able to connect. The user interface for the iOS app and web portal are clunky and slow. The app and website keep trying to sell me additional services that I DO NOT WANT, and I can’t tell it to stop annoying me about them. I’ve debated returning it, but the LTE connectivity works mostly and that’s the main reason I bought it.

I bought this a while ago and have been fighting with it ever since. I have been trying everything I can find but no luck. It gains and then loses internet connectivity randomly and rapidly. One minute everything is fine, the next nothing. Resets don't help. Firmware is up to date. The strange thing it works great for a minute or two and then it can't get a connection. I do not want a link to go do more work on my own to solve this well-known Netgear issue. I want someone to explain how to fix it or explain how to get a refund. Thanks.
