Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great, Saves Money on Internet Our family has a north woods cabin in a low population area with only one ISP choice. Not only was it expensive, but service requests took months, if not longer. I was looking for another option and landed on the mobile hotspot/cellular router option. I was a little hesitant to add another line to our cellular plan for something I wasn't sure was going to work, but I figured it was worth a shot. I went with this model for 2 reasons - first it was more affordable that the 5G cellular routers, and we are just out of range for the 5G cell signal anyways... but at least got LTE on our phones. And second I wanted something that had high performance and could be plugged in all the time, since some of the battery-powered mobile hotspots typically limit performance to save battery. This also was capable of capturing all of the available Verizon bands (bands 2, 4, 5, 13, and 66) and as a Cat 18 device even combining bands at the same time to increase speed. I set it up, ran the speed test, and was very happy that even on 4G LTE cellular signal, I was still getting downlink speeds of over 150 Mbps, which is perfect for what I need. Originally I was planning on adding external LTE antennas to the ports on the back, but it may not even be necessary. So far I haven't had any issues with the signal dropping, and the speeds seem pretty consistent... moreso even than the local ISP. So far I'm very happy with the device, and being free from the cable company will actually save me money in the long run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best device ever The NETGEAR Orbi Tri-Band WiFi Router with a built-in 4G LTE modem (LBR20) is a solid choice for areas where traditional broadband connections may not be available or reliable, such as rural locations or places like Ghana in West Africa when I went on a work visit. Rating: 5/5 Pros: Versatile Connectivity: The built-in 4G LTE modem ensures you can get internet access in areas where cellular networks are the main option, which is common in Ghana's remote or underserved regions. Can also be connected to a wired broadband service, providing flexibility. Tri-Band WiFi: Tri-band technology ensures smooth performance by dedicating a band to backhaul, improving the network's efficiency even when multiple devices are connected. Ideal for families or small offices with moderate to heavy internet usage. Easy Setup and Management: The Orbi app makes installation straightforward and provides tools to manage the network, including parental controls and guest WiFi setup. Coverage: Excellent range, covering up to 2,000 square feet per unit, which can be extended with additional Orbi satellites. Suitable for larger homes or small offices in Ghana where WiFi dead spots are an issue. Performance: Provides stable speeds, particularly when the LTE network is strong. Supports Cat 18 LTE speeds, which can handle streaming, video calls, and downloads efficiently in areas with good cellular signal strength. Backup Internet: Functions as a failover connection for wired broadband, ensuring uninterrupted internet for critical activities. Cons: Network Dependence: The performance heavily depends on the quality and strength of the cellular network in your location. In Ghana, areas with limited 4G LTE coverage may experience inconsistent speeds. Cost: The upfront cost of the LBR20 is higher than basic LTE routers. Additionally, you need a reliable data plan, which can be expensive if you’re streaming or using data-intensive applications frequently. Lack of Advanced Features: While it is user-friendly, tech-savvy users may find it lacks some advanced customization options compared to other high-end routers. Satellite Dependency: To achieve the full potential of its range, you might need to invest in additional Orbi satellites, which adds to the cost. Recommendation: If you used the NETGEAR Orbi LBR20 in Ghana, you likely appreciated its ability to adapt to the country's varied connectivity infrastructure. It’s particularly well-suited for regions with reliable 4G LTE networks. However, if your area had poor signal strength or the cost of data plans was a concern, you might have found the experience less satisfying. Overall, it's an excellent choice for ensuring strong WiFi coverage in areas where cellular connectivity is the best option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well but sma connectors are not sturdy enough when connecting antenna The cable used to connect to the external antenna to the Orbi puts a lot of tension on the sma coaxial connector. If you move the Orbi or detach/reattach the antenna cable you have to be careful or it will snap the the sma coaxial off the Orbi circuit board. Then it becomes useless. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faster than Spectrum in a far out place! Wife and I just tested it in our campers in the suburbs of South Carolina where Comcast and Verizon won't touch. We have Spectrum service at the temporary house we're renting and it's pretty fast, as we both work remote cybersecurity jobs from home. We just brought the Orbi to our 26ft camper that we'll be moving into soon, and the Orbi, to our amazement, gave us speeds faster than our neighborhood Spectrum service does. We're really surprised and wowed by this! We're glad we went with Orbi!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Netgear Orbi/T-Mobile Since I have had this up and running for about 2 weeks I have been disappointed with the performance. I expected much better access and speed than I had with a satellite and so far I have not gotten it. I have my cell service with another major carrier and I only have 4G or 4GLTE with them. When I use my phone or my Chrome Book my connection speed is much faster and I have no problem with 24/7 access. So far the Orbi with T-Mobile has been down about as much as it has been up. I have the unit set up by a window as suggested.
