Very nice system, but dislike the added costs.
This is a future proof system that should serve anyone with higher than 2Gb speed internet very well. I really do not like that you are required to pay extra for parental controls and security after the free trials are done.

Needs to reset daily
I just purchased this in April 2024, no later than 48 hours from installing it has been losing connection once a day. I’ve had to power cycle to get it to reconnect. Very frustrating. Connecting with Netgear support to see what’s wrong. Will update review once I get a response.

The ability the 970 system has to make much better connections is just unbelievable. I love this system. It is so much better than the past 2 I have used. And I think that it we to continue to stay ahead of the rest for a long time.

Finally able to go all wireless!
Even though the majority of my client devices are using Wi-Fi 6e I am already enjoying a significant improvement on the satellite that is in our pool house. Now devices stay connected when before we had intermittent connections. The sharing of all the bands is a great step in the right direction and we are no longer using our wired runs. Thanks Netgear!

Orbi 970, The Real Deal
It’s about time they made a WIFi system that out performs my expectations. This system is no joke, it’s full steam ahead and doesn’t stop for nothin. I’m VERY Impressed. Thank you NETGEAR. I was so nervous to make the jump to a mesh system but now that I did, I’m glad I started with the 970. I doubt very much anything can can beat this system. Does this review get me a discount on my next purchase? lol worth every penny

This is powerful and reliable. The 2 pack has been more than sufficient for my 5500 sq ft home across 3 floors. In addition provides enough coverage around the house. All my old IoTs are working just fine in addition to latest devices.

Good, but not as stable as I had hoped
Get random issues with WiFi dropping for certain devices randomly. But when its connecting it works well with very fast WiFi that matches the 2.5 gbps fiber. Coming from extremely stable RB50 system.

BE27000 Mesh WiFi System (RBE972SB)
Works fast as advertised. Definitely pricy. The setup wizard aborted and restarted mid-way through setup which created a bit of confusion, but was able to complete. Note that some older WiFi devices may not be able to distinguish between the multiple broadcast frequencies used by these new WiFi 7 networks.

Not as I expected
I just installed the RBE972SB and I'm not getting the speed over wifi I expected. The Orbi app shows my internet speed from the ISP being 1100-1200mbps, but the download speeds I get from my devices connected over wifi (even standing right in front of the router or satellite) are 30-50% of that speed. I've connected the ethernet supplied to the router directly into a desktop ethernet and I get just under 1000mbps. I've been online with Orbi support. I had an IT contractor install the system. So, for the money I've spent I have to say I was really expecting to experience higher speeds over wifi. I am going to return this system for lack of performance.

Netgear ORBI 970 Series Wifi 7 is an excellent mesh system!
The Netgear 970 provides excellent improvement in Wifi reception in my house! I no longer have any buffering, the speed is quick while running up to 4 devices at one time! This is a contemporary house where the main unit is in a back of house studio, the one satellite handles the rest of house with ease! I consistently get minimum 175 Mpbs while all 4 units are running! Congratulations on Netgear for making great product!

Absolute game changer
I’ve tried many different routers over the last several years from Asus, TP Link and also Netgear. I purchased the 970 series a little over a month ago. Not one drop in coverage. Not one restart. Great coverage out to the ends of my back yard and down the street in front of my house. Complete compatibility with all 29 devices in my house. Wi-Fi speeds are outstanding. Very happy with this purchase.

Easy Setup, and Fast!
Easy to setup, just follow the instructions. It only takes a few minutes. Unbelievably fast. I have a 1G internet connection with 27 connected devices, and this easily handles the workload. I replaced an Apple Airport Extreme, and had to change my network name because the ORBI doesn’t allow for apostrophes (previously automatically assigned by the Airport). I really needed to change the password anyway, so no big deal.
When delivered, it was dropped hard on the porch by FEDEX delivery (I heard it from inside the house). So A+ on the packaging - no damage at all.

Where’s the improvement???
Drops connection like crazy. Have not noticed and improved speed. Use to stream tv and is slower than my 5yo net gear satellite system.

Smokes the TP-Link BE95
Purchased both systems and setup wired backhaul. The Orbi maintains all 70+ devices flawlessly. I purchased the TP-Link first as it was released first and was quickly reminded you get what you pay for. If you work from home and/or run an extensive smart home, do not cut corners on your router. Smallest complaint, I wish my wireless backhaul wasn't visibly broadcasting non-stop. I am under the impression it doesn't use it if you are wired, regardless I wish it wasn't visible none the less.

I purchased this to use my Vive XR Elite without wires, but I cannot get it to work well. My guess is that the satellite does not connect 6E very well and is not fast enough with the Orbi router to handle the throughput with the Vive XR. Orbi satellite is connected by Cat-8 to the Orbi router and connecting the Vive XR to the Orbi satellite. The setup software only shows 2.4 and 5Ghz, confusing.

Orbi 970 - worth it!
I got this router to replace the X8, which had been a fabulous router up until the point I got fiber. It simply could not keep up with the speeds and since I do IT work from home that is important the Orbi 970 works as advertised complete coverage for my home, which is just under 4000 square-foot. It’s really nice to have a network dedicated to smart TVs and devices of that nature. The fastest Wi-Fi I have ever experienced, and very easy to setup. It is expensive, but as the proverbial saying goes, you get what you pay for and in that, Netgear did not disappoint!

Seriously consider this unit if you can use WiFi 7.
Very fast and rock solid. My only concern is the cost, but it is early in the cycle. Excellent coverage. No drops.

I would not recommend, connection no better than my old Orbi 850s, it seems worse in almost every way. Constant connection drops and very poor software support, firmware is still unstable it restarts randomly even on latest firmware release.
WiFi 7 specification hasn’t been finalized yet, so this is BETA/“Draft specification” hardware for sure. for the stupid premium cost of the unit, it is definitely not worth the price.
So far massive regrets buying this unit, my only hope is it gets better with firmware updates and time.
Netgear Armor is hot garbage and will be dropped after the 1 year trial, I wish there was a way to trash it now.
