This version of the Defender is NOT user friendly.
Used Defender cases for my previous two versions of iPhones. The first one was great (thick case and VERY easy to place in and remove from the belt clip). The second one was good (thick and fairly easy to place in the belt clip), and I could use my belt clip from the previous model with the case (which was awesome because the previous belt clip was VERY easy to place the phone in as it didn't have the tabs on the top edge of the belt clip). This new version (for the iPhone 14 Pro Max) is horrible! Way too thin and is VERY HARD to place in the belt clip). Also, since it is so thin, and the belt clip is therefore thin too, it cuts into my arm when I am sitting down with my arm by my side. I'm so frustrated and unhappy with it I believe I am going to throw it away and find/purchase a more user friendly product.

The case is wonderful but the the case that let me attach it to my belt broke. Not the cases fault, Just couldn’t hold up to the abuse that I gave it because my job.

If you have a black iPhone don’t get this case!
When I first put on this case I had no scuff marks on the metal part of my iPhone 14 pro max but after using this case for a couple months I had a whole bunch of scratches on the metal!

This version is a friggin DUD!
This is not an improvement by any means. It’s thinner, and it throws off the feel that we’ve come to expect from the ProMax Defender. If I wanted the feel of a Commuter case I would have bought one. The thinner case also makes for a smaller hole, which makes accessing the silent/sound switch very difficult. The material is not as soft ans it used to be either and I feel like Im holding a hockey puck. The only plus I would give it, is the face side corners arch up a bit, making very subtle feet when you lay the case on its face. That aside, this case is a complete and total disappointment and I’m actively looking for a new brand. Bring back the old style Defender from a life long defender case user.

Wish I could use my defender case
I love otter box but when I bought a MagSafe wireless charger and the defender case it said they would work together but they do not at all, so I had to go back to a cheaper case just to work on the magsafe wireless charger.

Not good for arthritic hands-difficult attachment
I like the older Otterbox for iPhones. I have arthritis and struggled to get case on. I’m use this while looking for a better case. Not happy with it at all just due to difficulty attaching case.
That said, seems like a solid case. I’ve used Otterbox for years because I do drop my phone a lot. I purchased a separate screen protector because the slightly raised edges don’t help for all drops

Not happy at all with this case. I always use the defender on my iPhones. The first thing I noticed about the case is the camo no longer has the orange hard case. It’s black and looks very plain. More importantly the phone doesn’t begin to recess into the case like the older models I’ve had. The phone feels much less protected. Probably still the best case out there but certainly not as good as the previous model phone cases otterbox offered.

Extremely Disappointed
Over the years I have only used the Otterbox Defender line to protect my phones and have not bought any other cases. However, I feel that Otterbox has missed the mark with the Defender for my iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Previous cases on cases were made of a rubber material that absorbed shocks when the telephone was dropped. The current material is more rigid and does not absorb the impact of shocks as much. In addition to this, the screen is less protected because the protective frame is smaller and leaves the it more exposed.
The belt holster the case comes with was made more cheaply this time around. They shaved some plastic off the two raised prongs that hold the phone. The phone is also more prone to popping out of the holster unexpectedly as it is not held in as securely as it was in previous models. My last case was an iPhone 11 Pro so I’m not sure if it was done with the 12, 13 or just starting with the 14. When you pay the kind of money you pay for these cases and you're buying it for maximum protection for your phone, you don't want to see the company cutting costs on you and giving you less for your money. It's not like you don't have any other phone case options, and this is the DEFENDER series! We're buying this line for a reason, aren't we?
Unfortunately, Otterbox has lost my confidence and my business because of the decline in the quality standards of their product. In this case, the Defender case and holster for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Super Protective but....
Super protective ~ you don't ever need to worry about dropping, your phone is completely safe and protected. I love the color I go (blueish purple) but I did not give it 5 stars because it stays dirty and shows the dirt from the oils/lotions of your hands. I have tried several wipes and nothing its it clean. I might try scrubbing but for the protection I have learned to live with it.

Phone case does complete opposite…
Bought this otter box as I have had otter boxes before and they have done ok. I recently just bought the brand new 14 pro max in black, and I took the otter box off to clean it. All around the edges of the phone against the glass is completely scratched underneath from the case. Almost like all the black around the glass is now silver from the case scratching the gloss off.Unbelievable.

Cheap, thinner rubber than older models.
This case is TRASH. I have the same one on my IPhone XS Max and you immediately notice the difference in quality. The rubber on the new ones don’t even compare to the old. It’s flimsy, less durable, and overall a waste of money. Not to mention the SCREEN IS FLUSH WITH THE CASE. How is that suppose to keep my screen protected?? I’m requesting a refund and hopefully going to send this joke back.

Faulty holster clip
The case itself is great. But the least little bump and the phone falls out the holster part The clip does not hold the phone case very well. I’ve used otter box since I had the iPhone 3 and never had an issue till now.

I have had several if not dozens on otter box cases but this one is not user friendly, the buttons are so hurried in the case that my fingers can’t even turn my volume on and off. The camo case is so slippery that is always sliding off stuff and is hard to hang on to. Very disappointed. The Verizon store basically told me sorry for your luck.

Great case but it won’t charge with cordless charg
The case was exactly what my husband wanted but won’t charge on any of our cordless chargers. (I’ve tried 4). We took the case off and it charged fine, but won’t do anything with the case on. He had the same case for his iPhone 8 and it charged fine, but something seems to different with the one for the iPhone 14 Pro. max.

Disappointing Experience
I have been a customer of Otterbox since 2008. My experience with case has been the most disappointing so far. The first day that I had the case, I had a drop and the belt clip shattered. I submitted a warranty claim on March 23 and I am still waiting for the delivery. I have been in contact with Customer Service to request I reshipment on April 6

Best Case I Ever Had
It’s doing its job. I have an autistic child who uses my phone while we are on the go and my phone have managed all these tosses. My son recently tossed my phone out his brother window (we live in a townhome)and it survived , not even a scratch on the screen and I don’t have a screen protector at the moment. However before that I did notice that it’s starting to scratch around the metal border part of my iPhone. I’m not sure if that’s a defect or something. But it’s been doing great against my toddler

Holster is flawed, phone does not stay in holster on single or double click in, my screen is always facing into the holster, so that isn’t the problem as suggested in multiple responses to this issue, also synthetic rubber does not fit as well and leaves a rubber bubble next to camera lenses, I have been pleased and loyal with otter box since my iPhone 6, now I have a iphone 14 pro max and am very disappointed in otter box for this subpar case and they have lost a customer in me. Time to give my business to another company.

Starting to wreck my phone
Bought this case for work thinking it would be the best option for protecting my expensive phone. Found that after a couple weeks it had scratched and started to chip at the bezels of my new iPhone. I’ve always kept my phone and case very clean but it still did this. Very disappointed that I spent the money on a hood case for it to only damage me phone. Would not recommend.

This waa a gift i got my 18 year old son for Christmas. He's in the navy and got a stars and stripes design. He absolutely loves the design and the durability of the case. It also helps that it is water proof. It was an excellent purchase and I highly recommend.

The fitment on the holster is garbage. The phone keeps falling out. These newer Otterbox cases are NOT as good as the old models. Seems like Otterbox is trying to cut costs and corners.
I will not purchase another Otterbox case until the issues with the Holster are corrected.
