It was dropped numerous times, with no damage. When I finally took the case off to trade in the phone, it was pristine. Great protection, without the bulk! Perfect fit on the 13 Pro Max!

I love how light and sturdy this phone is. Protective cases tend to be bulky and heavy, but this case is nice and light and doesnt feel cumbersome

This is a phone case designed for a 12 that they claim in compatible with the 13 but it isn’t; the volume buttons don’t line up properly. Extremely misleading. And I had to pay for the return shipping. I will not be buying otter box again. Not to mention the customer service being down for over a week to try and initiate the return.

Dropped on a flat surface and the screen is now shattered. My last phone I had for just over 6 years with the otterbox and the case held up, and the phone looked brand new when I upgraded. This doesn’t hold up to what otterbox was/should be

My phone came earlier in the day than the case and worked perfectly on my wireless stands, not flat pads. I then put the case on and it no longer wirelessly charges my phone. First world problems I know but I’ve invested money in wireless stands that are useless as long as the case is in my phone.

Apparently, I am unable to return this case as their customer service option for returns on their site has been down for weeks now. Ridiculous and not how to run a company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems like they shipped a 12 Max case instead The case just doesn’t seem to fit quite right. The lightning port cover doesn’t sit flush with the hard plastic. The “notch” cut out on the silicone at the top seems like it was designed for the 12 Max not the 13 Max as it’s much wider than the actual notch on the 13. I ordered this the first day they were available and if I had to guess it’s probably actually just a relabeled 12 Pro Max case. The packaging even has just a sticker slapped over where it would have been printed “12 Pro Max” Overall, it’s not a bad case, but it’s clearly just a repackaged 12 Pro Max case, and it just doesn’t fit very well.

The dust boot over the charging port. Easy to install, and easy to remove. Just the right amount of lip on the front of the screen (Defender series is WAY too much lip And twice the Commuter has saved two phones from certain death. That being said........... I have a new iPhone 13 pro max and i bought my commuter case as usual, and yes while it will charge via magsafe - it DOES NOT have magnets embedded in the outer case! This was such a HUGE let down for me. i purchased 3 Apple Magsafe chargers, and a magsafe wall mount for the shower and this case wont stick to them AT ALL. Just falls off. Come on Otterbox, you're better than this to release a $60cad case that is missing a critical feature that your competitors have. So till i find a better option this one is going back and i'll keep using the awful $70cad apple case as it actually sticks to things but in no way will protect the phone. Sigh.

But this is not true it does not charges at all, it does not even acknowledges the existence of the phone or the charger. Terribly disappointed. buying a different brand from now on.

The internal rubber part of the case that makes contact with the buttons look like they are incorrectly designed. They should be flush or inverted with the buttons. they are raised causing the case to not fit.

This new Commuter for the 13 Pro Max has a better grip feel than my previous Commuter Case which is a good thing. Just wish there were more color choices from Otterbox.

The newer case seemed lighter and slightly less protective than the previous 2018 purchase. However, it is lightweight and slimmer. Button access is accurate. Color choice selection is, at the time of purchase minimal. Overall, I cannot complain, it's protective and stylish enough. But the older case seemed more substantial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not what they used to be I bought this case for my new phone for the same reason I always buy an otterbox, because they are basically the gold standard for cases, or at least they used to be. Initially I found this case on amazon and noticed that the case was listed as for the iphone 13 pro max as well as the iphone 12 pro max, looking into this i learned that those 2 phones have different widths so i was concerned. then looking on the otterbox website, i was relieved to see these cases individually listed and the iphone 13 pro max case being specifically marketed as a case for this phone alone. So i ordered this case and what do I see when it arrives, a big sticker on the front that says for the iphone 13/12 pro max. I looked further into it and in the FAQ section there was a statement saying that an iphone 13 pro max case was good for an iphone 12 pro max case, but not the other way around. how can this be? according to otterbox this case is specifically engineered to the exact size and dimensions of one phone, how can it also be compatible with another phone of different width? now that I have it on my new phone, i noticed the areas that cover the side and power buttons are a bit retracted/pulled away, as if it was not quite the right dimensions. So now instead of a case for each phone that fits perfectly there seems to be a case that fits both phones in a slightly less than perfect manner. the reality is that this case fits about as good as any case on amazon for less than half the price, so think twice about it before you purchase this. I bought this case because I have always bought an otterbox case due to them being the absolute best option for protecting your tech investment, i dont think thats the situation anymore. I think this will be the last time I buy an otterbox until I hear about some improvements, and honestly the hunt has already begun for a case that fits better.

It's still nice, but not what I was expecting. The case seems to protect well but is definitely more masculine. May be nice for a women who likes darker, duller tones.

Overall it's really solid, not great for having in jeans, shorts or dress pants, but also more sure my phone will be protected if dropped.

For my 13pro max, this case isnt truly MagSafe compatible. Yes the MagSafe charger does work through the case but the magnetic connection is very weak. You have to keep the phone still or just laying down flat on the MagSafe which makes using the phone while charging not very practical.

I like the way it installs and the “rubbery” side grips. The Apple phones are so slim (good thing and smooth that i feel uncomfortable grabbing the phone for fear of loosing it out of my hands. With the Commuter Case, I can confidently “grab” my phone with no worries about dropping it.

I got another one for my iPhone 13 Pro Max, but found myself regretting it only for the fact it is not MagSafe compatible. That's very unfortunate when lots of other Otterbox cases are. So I got a Symmetry case that is but yearn for the Commuter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Case was a pain to get to line up The rubber part was a pain to line up to snap the shell in. A few times i thought it wasn’t going to fit. Was ready to give up and demand a refund. But it finally lined up. This is the worst case for taking your phone out of and back in. Once you get it in correctly it seems like it definitely will protect the phone.

The whole reason I bought it was for that. The magnets do not stick at all. I no longer have the packaging so now I’m stuck with this $40 case.

The case is very well made, and comfortable to carry, but the company that makes this product does not see an issue with dishonest labeling of the features they use to promote the product. My last Otterbox product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as great as they ONCE were Too bad that a short 2ft drop to thick carpet cracked the case and now it is falling apart. I had Otterbox for years on older phones and I like them until they got bulky and gradually more and more expensive. I started using Spigen cases and those were some great cases. When I found the Commuter case, I thought great, not as bulky and not as expensive. I take care of my phones, and the cases that I use on them. I always make sure to keep ahold of the phone other than the rare time it happens to get knocked off the desk. That desk is in a bedroom with medium pile carpet and a decent cushion under the carpet, so it is safe. But be forewarned, the military doesn't actual do the testing.....companies like Otterbox should be doing it on their own to military standard. Things tell me they just use that standard talk as a means of marketing their product. They 'might' do testing when they put out a new product, but otherwise what you see on the package and the website is probably just there as a means to sell their product. After this, I'm done with Otterbox. It's up to you as a consumer to go with who YOU think is a good product, but I'll tell you that Otterbox isn't as great as they're made out to be. I've had Spigen cases for years, whether on my iPhone, my Apple Watch or even previous Samsung Galaxy phones I used to use. They were taken care of just like my current iPhone and anytime there was a drop, there was absolutely no damage to the case, let alone the phone. Here is a simple short drop and the case is already compromised. Do yourself a favor, go with Spigen or another case maker....you'll pay less but probably get much better protection I know the case is there to protect the phone and if the case has a crack, then it's doing its job....I get it, but compared to the Spigen cases I've used to years that have NEVER cracked once, that tells me that Otterbox is a crap case

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is not MagSafe compatible I have had the commuter series case for every iPhone I’ve had for years. It’s hands down my favorite. It didn’t seem to be available right away for the 13 Pro Max. So when I saw it I grabbed it. It’s exactly what you’d expect if you’ve ever had a commuter series case. But I didn’t read the fine print and found that it is not MagSafe compatible. I’m bummed because I’ve already bought into the MagSafe ecosystem. Now to use it I have to take the case off. I’m back on the search for the perfect MagSafe compatible case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incorrect items I recently upgraded from a first generation IPhone Se to an IPhone 12. When the case and holster arrived, the case was to big as well as the holster. I returned both back to you with an explanation of what was wrong and asked for a correction of this problem and I still have not heard anything. Both items were ordered on 12/11/23 and returned the next day. Your help with correcting this problem would be greatly.

I’ve had several different otterbox cases and they offer a lot more protection and don’t come off as easily. 3 stars because it is a good brand but this case probably is just not the best option.

The magnet does not connect and I must hold it myself in just the right spot for it to work. What a pain!!!

Or maybe a different case from otter box because I’m not sure this will happen again with the cracks. I feel bad leaving 2 stars, Otterbox is always my go to for phone cases for years.

My phone stays protected and in good shape no matter how many times I’ve dropped it (which is a good deal of times because I’m clumsy lol. Thank you again Otterbox!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible quality I’ve been using a defender case on my IPhone 6S since the phone came out (with the same case for about 6 years and just bought this for my 13 pro max because I expected similar quality and this case is super disappointing. This case doesn’t fit right, the rubber isn’t gripping the sides correctly around the volume and power buttons. There’s this loose area that dirt and dust can enter between your phone and case and will start damaging your phones finish over time. I know because this was a problem for the defender case back with the iPhone 5. They fixed this problem with the defenders for the iPhone 6 so I don’t why they went backwards. This new silicone is also less supple and harder feeling. It just doesn’t feel as protective. The hard plastic shell is also not as good as the shell on my nearly 6 year old defender. This just isn’t holding the silicone well. It slips off so easily. If you had a bad drop in this case I wouldn’t be surprised if the silicone case popped out of the hard plastic shell. I think you guys are trying too hard to get your old case designs to conform to wireless charging and MagSafe and ended up making subpar cases in return. Just go with the old school heavy duty designs for the older defender and commuter cases and create new designs that are MagSafe compatible instead of making your old designs bad. TLDR: Will not buy again, will not recommend. These don’t fit right anymore and aren’t as protective as they used to be.
