Observer's console can be upgraded to monitor remote LANs or WANs by adding either Advanced or RMON Probes. Probes are installed on a remote LAN or segment to collect data and report back to the Distributed Observer console.

Network Instruments' RMON Probe provides complete, industry standard RMON1 and RMON2 network statistics for the Distributed Observer console (RMON Extension is required) or any RMON data display console. The RMON Probe is an industry-standard, software-only, RMON compliant Probe application.
