Gen 4 is pretty snappy and works well with Samsung Magician. Issues regarding SSD health seems to be resolved since the last firmware update. Was worried about temps so got the heatsink version and glad I did cause temps have ranged from 25 to highest around high 40s low 50s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will not show up on Win11, apparently com. prblm I got this earlier this week brand new with the intention of using it as a secondary SSD on my HP Omen. So far, it shows up nowhere except disk management and storage management. I can't assign it. I can't set the volume or anything. Looking online for possible idea's, it seems that this is a fairly common issue with the 990 PRO and Windows 11 that no one has seemed to find a resolution for. Also, for whatever reason, it keeps thinking it's an External USB drive??? I have it installed internally into the secondary SSD slot. Looking a little more into it, It looks like it's running Linux on the SSD too. Not too sure if that's an issue or not. I know just enough to install and search Google for troubleshooting and Google is coming up with a lot of the same problems with no resolutions. I have a 300+ USD piece of plastic.

Went to start the PS5 two days later and it told me there was a system software crash and the drive wasn't detected. Replaced it with an older smaller drive and tested in my PC. Drive is dead.

Running it as my boot drive along side another EVO 980 2TB(my previous boot drive) I've built a few pcs in the past few years and have always gone with Samsung for ssd drives. With this 990 my boot up is like 5-7 seconds. Playing games my load times are almost non existent. Looking forward to the next step in the EVOs evolution as well for future builds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excessive storage with cooling security. Greetings. I researched several SSd cards to b3 installed in my PS5. The installation process was pretty straightforward. The system recognized the drive. Formating and moving games from the internal storage were simplified by the PS5 OS. I chose this model for the overkill in extra storage, and the integrated heat sinks are a bonus. There's no lag in playing any games that's storage on the SSD. I may add an extra heatsink pipe to replace the cover that hides the SSD for a little overkill in the cooling department. I do have my PS5 on an aftermarket vertical docking stati. cooling with several built-in cooling fans to increase the airflow. After all, why risk overheating a $300.00 plus investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Fast Speeds, albeit Wrong SSD Purchased I bought these a month ago. I grabbed the ones with a heatsink and it is incredibly fast! I needed the 990 Pro without a heatsink for my PC which I didn't know though. Degradation is slower than my old 870 Evo, which is amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best upgrade ever! I purchased the 4 TB ssd last week. Installed in my ps5 with ease. Transferred all of my stored games, game data and videos with no problems accessing my files. Superfast when starting games. Just as fast as the internal storage built into ths Ps5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast! Really Fast! Need I say more? I purchased a 2Tb 980 Pro Ssd when I purchased my laptop. I decided I needed more space when I noticed how much space my Audii Books were taking, so I shopped around and picked up the 4tb 990 Pro w/heatsink while it was on sale. I'm already upset I didn't but at least 1 more, as the amount of data we create only gets larger each year. I did have to remove the heatsink to fit the drive in my Samsung laptop, but I just put the older 980 Pro inside it. Makes for a safer portable backup that way. The 980 Pro was fast. This 990 Pro is visibly faster when copying files. I'd recommend it to anyone in need of saving their data and doing it quickly. If submit a photo, but who wants to see a pocus of a laptop? Lol!

Performance Shortfall Bought 990 PRO 4tb w/ Heatsink in June 2024 and have been using it for over a month in Dell Alienware R16 running Win 11 (replacing / upgrading the 1tb stock drive). Learned about 3 significant issues online related to this drive: bad firmware, drive disappearing from Windows and Bios, and drive degradation issues - so first thing was to download the Magician software to update firmware and drivers. Despite that, I kept experiencing drive disappearance issues randomly but frequently during first few weeks. Recently changed setting to "Full Performance Mode" at all times to see if the disappearance issues would stop. This has been a disappointment. In addition, ran multiple Performance Benchmarks in Magician and never gotten close to the advertised read and write speeds up to 7450/6900 MB/s. Only getting about 6700/5700 MB/s in "Full Performance Mode" (a little higher using CrystalDiskMark but still falling short of the advertised speeds). So performance is yet another disappointment.
