I love it!
I love it. Does everything I need and it's very fast. Battery lasts several days. Also, I'm "of a certain age" and the screen is nice and large I can read everything very easily.

Good quality, very poor design
The construction is quality, but the design is awful. The fact that it's 2 separate pieces with the front only attached with relatively weak magnets holding along the edge has resulted in the front coming off and me dropping the tablet. The design is really not good. My Galaxy S8+ cover was great. Not sure why they changed it.

Do NOT Purchase
I will not recommend this product because: (1) it is HEAVY, (2) it is not convenient (forget using one hand to hold and read), (3) it does not save the edges of the tablet against accidental bumps, (4) it does not work with Samsung's own notepaper screen (you have to remove the case to use the notepaper screen), (5) has an inconvenient bump behind the tablet to store the pen, making it difficult to lay the tablet flat on a surface to write, (6) limited orientations (just two) if you want to put it on a surface to read handsfree, and (7) Samsung's super inconvenient/ambiguous/false return policy (as I write this, I still see the website say 30 days, but you actually have much fewer days to return and good luck getting hold of ANYBODY on the phone). I have purchased many Samsung devices in the past, but this experience will make me rethink ANY Samsung purchase in the future.

Designed for the tablet.
Fits nicely. Camera openings are not exactly center but I haven't used the camera on the Tab S9 yet and probably never will.

The majority of the time I am using my tablet in the bed at night to watch movies...this cover is not the best for soft surfaces...

The back of the cover is great. The front is terrible. Trying to fold it behind the tablet and it just comes off. It takes up too much space to leave it unfolded in the front. So you just have to remove it and set it off somewhere. Just not user friendly at all

Poor, two-piece design.
Two piece design is klunky, unwieldly, and unstable. Front portion slips off easily and has to be removed to effectively use stand.

Love it except for ...
I gave it 4 stars because there is more I like than dislike. First of all it seems to be made very well and feels sturdy. I love the detachable screen cover, this helps when holding in one hand and writing or typing with the other. I also like the pen holder I keep the cover on but, I like the fact that I can detach it. Also the magnetic holding power is very strong. What I don't like is the origami stand. It's fine on a table with 2 positions but, I use half the time in my lap writing either at home or at church, it's completely unusable for this. Charging $100 for a cover and not giving it the adjustable stand like is on the keyboard cover was a mistake. I'm sure the cost of the cover to make wouldn't have changed much, it probably would have been cheaper with economy of scale.

Didn't work for my application
I got the S9 Ultra for a very specific application, as a extended monitor with stylus for my desktop computer, and for that purpose is working just fine. I got the tablet with the slim keyboard case and got the Smart case to use the tablet in portrait mode, but unfortunately, when set up in that orientation, the connector is on the bottom, tried with a 90 degree connector and it works, but is not steady, tried reversing the case, and also works, but can't store the S-Pen. As I can't return it, as the box was thown away, I just chucked in a drawer.

Wish this style came with the note paper cover. To use the stand features, the cover gets in the way unless you remove it. Seems like a solid design with those caveats.

Good case but over priced
This is a very good case. It has a very slim fit. The magnets are strong. Have not had an issue with it falling off like the previous generation. The 2 piece design makes it convinient to use in small spaces. It does have it's limitations however. It will not protect your tablet well if you drop it. Also I feel the case is VERY over priced.

Good quality, poor design
This cover is built well, but it was designed very poorly. The magnets are too weak, so the cover comes off way too easily. It's very annoying to say the least. I'm also not a fan of the viewing angle while using the built in stand. I will be looking for a different cover for certain.

Terrible design limits its usability
From a usability perspective, it's a terrible design. The kickstand sticks out 6.5 inches and it comes out at an angle, making it not versatile. You'll need to clear out a good amount of space on your desk to actually use the stand. If you want to have it stand at the edge of a desk/table or on a sofa armrest, forget about it. The odd design won't allow for that. I use to have a Samsung case with kickstand for my S8 Ultra, which was great. It protected the sides while also giving me a kickstand that can be used on any space. Unfortunately, that case won't fit the S9 Ultra due to a slightly different camera placement.

please bring back the old s8ultra case i like being able to put my tablet in my lap when i draw but this new case you cant even do that. this ones just over engineered for no reason. why fix a design that worked perfectly fine with no issues in the first place

Notebook(no keyboard)
I had to purchase several of these to find one that had magnets that would actually secure the notebook into place when opening and closing the smart book. Unlike the books that were one piece and folded around the books. This one is made up of two pieces and the ends overlap throwing the magnetic off. The keyboard smart book is made to fit without overlapping but is much heavier. So I kept trying other book covers after the second try I finally found one that held successfully. The end cap is cheap and breakable. What I like about it is the built in stand and the holder for the pencil thingy. Though I never used it before. The quality of the case not regarding that mentioned above is super. But I really wish samsung did not change their notebook covers. I really preferred the one piece style.

Overly complicated abomination
I do NOT recommend this case. This case is overly complicated and the design is poor. It is almost as heavy as the tablet itself. The folding stand (others call it the origami stand) is very limited. You can only put it in one viewing angle for portrait or landscape. The stand will only work on a flat table or surface. It is useless when sitting with the tablet on your lap. I am not confident that the case will stay together in my bag and protect the tablet. I use my table on planes a lot and now have to take the front cover off and stuff it in the seat.
I wish Samsung had just done another book cover case like they did for the Tab S8. That was a very functional, light and a beautifully simple case. You could easily adjust the viewing angles. You never had to worry about it breaking lose.
I am going to return this and look for a 3rd party case that is similar in design to the Tab S8 book cover case. This case makes me wish I had not upgraded from the S8 to the S9.
Samsung, please keep engineering simplicity and all the usecases for a product in mind when you design something.

Is it perfect? No, but it is better that the older version I had on the s7+. Horizontal or a very unique vertical stand. It's gives me an alternative way to read off the screen.

No kickstand or piece that is shown is missing
Ordered this for my Tab S9 Ultra and despite what it says about it having a kickstand mine doesn't have one or the piece is missing that was supposed to come with it and Samsung doesn't sell that peice. Buy the more expensive one. It comes with the kickstand. I already have to buy a keyboard so I don't want to spend extra money on a stand to hold up my tablet which may not be compatible with this book cover.
