This Monitor is best in a class all by itself.
Don't really ever do reviews but, I feel that this one is a must. I have had my 27" ViewFinity S9 5K IPS Smart Monitor for around a month, or so. The reviews are all over the place, it is hard to know what to believe. I will have to say from my personal experience Samsung has done a great job on this product. There has been a lot of comparisons to the Apple Studio Monitor, most complaints about build quality and speaker sound quality, the remote control, and most seem to miss the point that these are two totally different monitors. First the price is compared $1599 and then the complaints start, the monitor is not all aluminum, the speakers are not the quality of the Apple Studio, it does not adjust as smooth as the Apple studio, The setup is harder. This Monitor is a high quality monitor, Is it all aluminum no, but how many monitors are, It is a top quality monitor non the less, very beautiful picture quality with a matte finish that reflects light that makes it easy on the eyes, which means more work friendly. I paired it with my Mac Studio M1 to do Video Editing and Graphics and it really does a great job. Davinci Studio software, AfterAffects, Photoshop all made easy on this monitor. After work is done or if I need to take a break I can switch to the monitor to media mode and play games or watch tv or listen to music. Yes listen to music this monitor comes with Bluetooth and WiFi, something Apple Studio does not have unless you have a computer hooked to it. I hooked my Samsung Sound Bar to it Via Bluetooth and now you have sound coming out that really is amazing. Can't do that with Apple Studio Display, Or maybe I will watch some Apple TV pull up a movie and now I am watching beautiful cinema movie with surround sound. You can't do that with Apple studio. My point is not to trash Apple because I have used their product for years, I just think some people have missed the point. Samsung has given you a great option that a lot of people working from home can get work done and relax in the same space. In the new world of how we work, this should be a welcomed option.

Worst electronics experience ever.
I was never able to fully use the monitor. Despite hours of my time and an hour on the phone with customer support we weren't able to properly connect the monitor to my Macbook Air. Do not purchase this monitor, it will waste your time. I will be returning it this week. Every time I tried to connect my monitor to my computer it would either displace the screen without a mouse pointer or it would have very small dual screens. Sometimes a random TV show popped up. I have a lot of "tech", this is by far my worst electronics purchase.

Not happy
Not the standard expected for a 5K monitor. Not impressed by the quality of the picture, audio, and software UI. I needed it as standalone PC monitor and there is no way to disable the TV option from home screen on power on.

Shoddy quality, coil whine on two displays
I really wanted this monitor to work out. For the sale price point at $1,000, it seemed like a decent alternative to the Apple Studio Display.
The first monitor I got had a high-pitched coil whine. So, I returned it and got a replacement (although, Samsung wouldn't exchange it and made me purchase another one while the other return was being processed). The replacement monitor didn't have the coil whine issue initially, but my MacBook Pro would crash every time it went to sleep with the monitor plugged in (search Reddit, this is a common problem). Then, the replacement started having a coil whine issue, so I returned it, bought an Apple Studio Display and am much happier.
I have a Samsung OLED TV and love it, but this monitor is awful.

Terrible interface makes this product near useless
This monitor's interface is extremely unintuitive, and after trying for one entire afternoon I could not figure it out. And I am an engineering graduate and build my own computers.
I ended up selling the monitor at 50% of the price I paid, after a day's use.
Everything is frustrating about this monitor. There are no physical buttons to adjust volume or brightness: you have to use a remote control to navigate the illogical menu until you find the relevant options. The default mode when you power it up, is that you have to connect it to WiFI to get basic functions going. But then it immediately start to act as a TV broadcasting some silly sitcoms. At full volume until you figure out how to lower the volume, which requires grabbing the remote and navigating the frustratingly laid out options. By the way, it is impossible to disable the "TV" mode, which is on by default.
And if you disconnect it from WiFi, it does not function properly.
If you want it to act as a monitor (which is what, I guess, most people buy it for in the first place), then you have to navigate the frustrating menus to tell it to act as a regular monitor.
SAMSUNG: All I wanted is a plug-and-play monitor! How difficult is that?

Not so great as advertisement.
1) Compare side to side to Apple monitor and view angle is less. It is dark compare to Apple when you are looking at angle.
2) Power supply is external. Literally it is brick. Heavy and big.
3) Always pop "Home" menu with entertainment. I want use it as monitor only. Inability to turn that menu at all.
4) I got 2 monitors. Remotes randomly changing what monitor they connected.
5) Sound is bad by modern standards.
6) Did not test cameras - need drivers or setup. Cannot say
7) I paid 1299 per monitor around Black Friday with retail price of 1599. Couple days later when I unpack and setup I see price of 999. Trying to chat with help desk - they transfer me 3 times to say - no price adjustment. Send it back and buy another 2 monitors...
8) First and last Samsung devices...

A very poor screen
This product is quite puzzling. It’s essentially just a simple screen, yet it includes a so-called “smart system” which is, in reality, quite foolish. This feature is utterly redundant and complicates the user experience to the point of frustration.

Great Monitor for Productivity
I got this monitor for my partner because she needed an external monitor for her Macbook. She loves using it for her school work, watching videos, and browsing the web. It's very sleek and minimal. I like that it comes with a remote and doubles as a smart TV. The 5K resolution is perfect for MacBook.

Annoying Coil Whine
I bought it a week ago. The screen is great. However, there is a very annoying high pitch coil whine that is audible from multiple feet away making working in silence impossible.

Don't buy this monitor
Bought this monitor a couple of months ago. Thought it would be a great external monitor for macs. But it started making weird constant noises immediately into a couple of weeks. I have reached out to the customer support and they've asked me to ship the monitor to customer service center which i did even though it was annoying to deal with the packaging and shipping and above all having to work without a monitor. They shipped the monitor back and it started to work fine for a week until the same issue came back again. And customer support are again asking me to ship the monitor to the repair center which is beyond unacceptable..

Beautiful picture, audio needs improvement
This monitor provides a beautiful picture, which is what is expected. I use it with a Mac Mini M2 Pro, and it pairs well. The speakers are so lack luster, I had to purchase separate desktop speakers. The frame is plastic, but it doesn't bother me since it's barely noticed. The stand is solid aluminum and looks and works great. This is a worthy alternative to the Apple display, if the speakers don't matter too much to you.

Beautiful Monitor, With Garbage Firmware
I LOVE this monitor. The images and texts is very clear thanks to its PPI. So why did I give it 3 stars then? The garbage firmware. I don't care for a remote (it's a monitor, people are, in average, so close to it!), I DON'T care for all of features that are locked behind a login and registration. Thankfully, I don't need much of a monitor, but I hate the slow firmware, it takes so much time to just change the display source. Another thing that I hate about this monitor is how you can't really customize shortcuts beside swapping their places, the remote controller is almost useless because it does not have a source button. You would have to get to the main menu first to change the source. I don't want Samsung TV plus, Netflix, prime video buttons! It's a monitor, you connect it to those that can serve you these!
It's a monitor, all i need it to do is change the source and quick access to volume and maybe few settings.
This is the only reason why I gave it 3 stars, because Samsung seems to be trying to convert monitors to be the same as the garbage TVs out there.

The WORST monitor - a lemon!
Brand new out of the box S9 27" ViewFinity 5K. No display signal with supplied cables for PC hook-up. Spent almost 2 hours with 1-800 customer care line, still no display. Got a link for a samsung care technician for on-site visit - after entering multiple questions, the link keep hanging. Its a monitor, get it right Samsung - it should be plug-and-play! and this is not a cheap monitor, perhaps that is why it is heavily discounted! Back to the store!

Stay away if you need to switch between machines
I wanted to love it but had to return it after trying it out for a few hours. I use Mac at work and Windows at home, so I need a monitor with KVM that can switch between inputs. I thought this one has KVM integrated, but it doesn't. Well, if just that, I can still overcome with external KVM, but guess what, all three USB-C ports are downstream and can only be accessed by the Thunderbolt 4 (also of USB-C), meaning that if you need to use the DisplayPort, you cannot use the integrated USB hub and there is no an easy way for you to switch inputs while using the same set of mouse/keyboard.

Samsung Has Done it Again!
I recently got into video editing and I have been shopping around for the best products. I began to use the Galaxy Book 3 pro360 to edit videos and it did an excellent job. However, I continued to be challenged with screen space. It was clear I needed a monitor.
I knew the viewfinity s9 5k just released, and I was skeptical if it would be worth the cost. But that all changed when I purchased it and set it up!
Right away it was very easy to set up! it seriously just locked into place! When I powered it on I was impressed with the stunning graphics and 5k resolution ! You can tell the difference!
My main concern was where my desk was. I work next to a big window and I truly get annoyed with screens that reflect me and all the lights around me. I found very quickly I wouldn't need to worry. The visually appealing matte screen was a true help blocking out all the lights.
Speaking of visuals, this montor is truly aesthetic! This thing looks so slick and clean, my friends think I'm a professional just be the looks of my set up!
I am beginning to think that I am pro worthy, I just use the the seamless USB-C ports and I am in a different world. My galaxy book pairs perfectly with the Viewfinity. My only challenge is the remote. It is a little glitchy at times and needs a double press for certain actions. Thankfully, after installing my mouse I didn't have that issue anymore.
Samsung has done it again. This monitor is all I will need for a long time, it's worth the buy!

Didn't live up to expectations
It's really easy to set up and I like the design of the monitor. Text and images are sharp and crisp. Good colors. The monitor however has some dead pixels, which has been really distracting especially when working. There's no warranty information currently for this product on the website either. The remote is buggy, if I press a button once it will register as pressing it twice so it will skip over the option I wanted to select. The voice control on the remote isn't great either. I've also had issues with the monitor not detecting my devices after they wake up from sleep/standby. I have to restart my devices for the monitor to detect my devices. Sometimes even when I restart my device it still doesn't detect it, and I cycle through different solutions like power cycling, unplugging and plugging cables back in, etc. until one solution works. Given these issues I wouldn't recommend buying it right now as is.

Do not try and use as a docking station.
I purchased this monitor thinking I'd be able to use it as a docking station as well. That's not possible.
I have the monitor's TB port plugged into my Macbook Air M2.
I have a UGreen NVMe m.2 usb 3.2 case with a WB Black SN850X drive.
This SHOULD get above 1GB/s RW speed.
When the drive is plugged directly into the Macbook, it gets around 900MB/s. That's not bad.
When plugged into the S9's USB-c port, I get 200MB/s.
No other devices are plugged in.
This is with the latest S9 firmware.
Unless you need your monitor to double as a smart display, pass on this monitor.

Do Not Buy This
DO NOT BUY. I made the mistake of buying one of these, and for 5 months I really liked it. Now, half of the screen bounces up and down one pixel at a time. Samsung will not refund the purchase and are requiring me to send it back to the factory for a tech to determine if it's repairable - at which point they will decide if I get a refund or if they ship it back to me. Meanwhile I have to buy a new monitor because I use this for my design business. When I told the Samsung supervisor that I use this monitor for my business, they said it's not a "business rated model." So there you have it. It looks like i am out $1400. I am now buying a new monitor.

not recommend buying this product,
I do not recommend buying this product, as it is one of the worst products produced by Samsung. This model cannot be run on a personal computer, except for the latest version of the laptop that accepts running such a Viewfinity S9a model. I purchased and have tried to get support from the Middle East agent in Dubai, but I cannot find support. This is stupid technology because it does not connect with a desktop computer.

Had defect; abysmal service
Purchased this as an alternative to an 5K "Red Fruit" monitor as a second screen to match my all-in-one style 5k computer.
Mistake.
While the picture quality on the screen is actually very good, the software and interface are terrible. There is no way to turn off the obnoxious "smart" features; screen is very slow to light up (via Thunderbolt 4) and fails to light up some 80% of the time - I have to fiddle with the power, or the thunderbolt plug, replug, power off, power on, chant the magic words, etc to get this thing to light up. In addition, after two months of use, the screen developed bright vertical and horizontal lines. Samsung's online "help" is utterly worthless and I spent two hours on the phone to get a service ticket (they refused to replace a brand new screen, so...). "Service" was via UPS ground shipping - a label only, no box or packaging provided. 9 days of transit, a week at the depot, five more days transit... almost 3 weeks to "service" a brand new screen. While the lines are gone, the software and turn-on issues are still ever-present. I might be willing to forgive some minor inconveniences, or spend some time changing settings to modify my experience to my satisfaction, or even forgive a defect if the customer service I receive is adequate. Samsung is absolutely terrible at customer service - their online process doesn't work, their phones are answered by drones who passed me back and forth several times (and hard to understand them), their depot service process is slow and abysmal. Not a good experience. Next screen will be a Red Fruit, despite the price difference. Samsung just isn't worth it.
