Excellent camera
I purchased the RM100 VII as I wanted a camera that not only had the option to “point and press” and do everything for me but also that would give me the option of taking a photo in my own way such as using the aperture option in particular when taking a macro shot.
There’s a lot to learn with this camera if you want to get more involved with the Sony system, otherwise it’s easy to set up and use to take a quick photo on the go.
I personally found the surface of the camera body a little slippy but I purchased a Sony jacket to protect the camera and the problem was solved as the jacket has provided me with a good grip now.
The images I’ve taken so far are clear and sharp and the colours are absolutely lovely.
I’m looking forward to seeing just exactly what this little camera is capable of.

Great pocket camera
Have been lusting after a RX100 VII for a long time so decided now or never. Am i glad i did Yes and no, Its a fantastic camera, very well made but i am disappointed with the image quality.I know it has a one inch sensor so cant expect it to be as good as a full frame but would have liked more detail and less noise Its not all bad though the lens has good reach and importantly for me it fits any of my pockets

LCD articulated screen developed blotches
I bought my Sony RX100 V7 camera in March 2022, with an extended purchase protection warranty for two years from Asurion, both purchased on the Amazon website. The camera takes excellent photos and I was happy with it. Until two days ago. Two days ago, I turned the camera on and discovered blotches all across the back screen. See my photos taken this morning. I had no idea what caused them as the camera was just sitting on a shelf. I had been really careful with the camera and even had bought a glass screen cover, which was on the back of the LCD lens from day 1 so the problems weren't on the outside of the screen. The camera lens also was clean so it wasn't the lens either. After doing some online research I learned that THIS CAMERA HAS A DESIGN FLAW. Search yourself under "Sony RX100 v7 - LCD screen - blotches - adhesive". The adhesive that holds the digital screen fails after a couple of years and those blotches appear on the LCD screen. You cannot get rid of them. The articulated screen needs to be replaced. I checked my warranties and (1) the original Sony warranty was only for ONE YEAR and (2) my purchased ASURION two-year warranty has also expired in March 2024. Then I remembered that I have a credit card that adds another year to the warranty so I figured that maybe I was still within the three year warranty period. Nope. What the credit card warranty covers is a year after the original manufacturer's warranty so my credit card covered the same time period as the Asurion warranty I had purchased with the camera (2 years from March 2022 so March 2024). But no longer. In other words, I wasted my money both buying the camera and buying the extended warranty! I am posting this review here because this camera is still available for purchase. Do not buy it unless you get at least a three year warranty from SONY that covers manufacturer's defects including the glue adhesive bubbling behind the articulated screen. Even better, buy a different product. And, if you have a credit card like mine that does offer another year of extended warranty protection, the protection is only on the original manufacturer's warranty, not on any secondary warranty so don't buy the second warranty. It doesn't help.

Issues focusing on macro
I take a lot of macro photos, but this camera keeps on using Landscape, even with a object 2-3,inches away, and photos are blurred, not what I wanted from a £1,000+ camera at all....

Misleading Cash-back Offer and poor customer servi
No problems at all with the camera. A good bit of kit. But I purchased with the £100 cash-back offer and Sony seem to use every excuse possible for not honouring the offer. Firstly I had to send a pic of the camera showing the serial number. Then they wanted a pic of the box. The latest is them wanting a pick of the camera, showing the serial number and being hand held- this is quite tricky to to with a mobile phone. SO BUYER BEWARE

LIke a mini full frame A7Riii
Perfect for the camera enthusiast who wants to leave their full frame camera at home. I'm blown away with the number of options in the menus (Very close to my A7Riii).
The focus is amazing and the frames per second is awesome for action shots.
With the optional thumb grip accessory it's comfortable to hold and easy to grip.
Highly recommended

Extraordinary camera with no rivals.
I bought this camera a couple of months ago and I'm glad I did. I wish I had bought it years ago. It has a 24-200mm lens (35mm equivalent) but yet is one of the smallest cameras you can buy. The lens is very sharp, all settings. Auto focus fast and accurately. It has excellent pop up EVF, nice to use.
Taken some 3,000 (street) photographs so far. Very pleased with the results. An incredible camera with no rivals.
Some flaws however. The camera needs a firmware update. I believe there has never been a firmware update since its launch five years ago.
For example:
Flaw #1. On MR settings 1, 2, and 3 etc, if you switch the camera off at 200mm zoom setting, the camera will return to 200mm when you switch it on. Not good, as 99% of the time you will wish to switch the camera on again at 24mm zoom setting, not 200mm. On PASM and AUTO settings the camera DOES return to 24mm setting even if switched off at 200mm zoom setting.
Flaw #2. If you use exposure compensation on lens dial (or elsewhere) the compensation stays set even after you switch the camera off. Not good. Many images are ruined because I shot the first few frames (after switching camera off & back on again) with exposure compensation still set. It should always return to ZERO after switching off camera. If user wishes to have ALL images ALWAYS plus/minus compensation, then use the separate setting provided in Menu for this.
Flaw #3. RAW files do not render in Photo Mechanic. I have used many cameras, all render their RAW files in Photo Mechanic. The Sony RX100 is a camera which will be purchased by many serious amateurs and professionals. I am a professional and I have used Photo Mechanic for twenty years. Every professional colleague I know uses Photo Mechanic. It is not good that RAW files do not render in Photo Mechanic. The only workaround for this flaw is to shoot RAW + JPG and view JPGs.

Almost perfect
This is by far the best compact camera I have ever owned. I found adding a stick on grip to the front made it easier to handle. The only thing I would change about it is the fact that when taking photos in landscape mode, if you are wearing polarised sunglasses, the screen appears black. (In an earlier model I own, this occurred when taking photos in portrait mode. As I take more shots in landscape mode, I would have preferred Sony not to have made this change.)

Great Quality in a Small Package
I previously had an RX100 M1 and loved it but it stopped working after dropping it. I then went on to an a6000 which is a great camera with interchange lenses. However, it is small but it is very easy to start adding and carrying gear including lenses tripods filters etc and before you know it you have quite a big bag. While I am keeping the a6000, I wanted something small but with similar quality so bought a new RX100 M7.
I find that I am getting similar quality images with the RX100 M7 as with the a6000 and that includes that I have the 90 mm macro lens which is very good. With my first RX100 I was mainly shooting auto but now it's mainly manual with occasional use of 'scene' for flowers. I am delighted with the new camera and especially the image quality and often get my shot first time which was not always the case with the a6000.
The fact that you can virtually carry it anywhere further adds to its appeal and there is no excuse not to have it with you.

Does it all from manual to automatic.
Pretty compact considering you get a pop-up flash, pop-up viewfinder and an adjustable screen.
Really needs to come with the stick-on grip, which is cheap and makes the slippery camera 100 times better to hold and get out of a case.
Fully auto modes lock out a fair few manual features, but there are degrees of manual functionality as you go through certain modes. The menu is clear and easy to navigate with help information for each option. They can be adjusted in a number of ways and via the quick menu you can customize, so once you're used to it you can select exactly the right settings very quickly.
Great picture quality, very fine detail and metering is pretty accurate. You can set colour space and plenty of effects to get images just how you like them. Very good focussing, down to selecting left or right eye on face detection.
Lots of "gimmicks" that are actually useful, such as taking a picture when it detects smiles. The ultra high speed photography (up to 1000 fps) is limited in video length, but can deliver awesome footage.
Focus/zoom ring is exceptional for manual modes.
If you want a small compact camera that's going to be near SLR quality images, this is your best bet.

Exceptional Image Quality
The image and video quality is exceptional. Unfortunately you need to purchase Sony's "stick on grip" to make the camera useable, it would be very easy to drop without this. Have taken about 900 photos with no issues however last time out it froze and I had to remove the battery. Looking on the internet this seems an issue. Using a SanDisk Extreme Pro cards.

A lovely very compact camera
Love the fact that it fits in a very small camera bag or a pocket. The lens has huge versatility. Even outside of the bigger sensor size that 200mm zoom makes it much more versatile than say a high end phone camera.
The menu system could be easier to use. However I found an excellent video from one of the Sony Imaging Embassadors with an excellent guide on how to set it up for Portraits, Action and Landscape photography.
Early days yet but I'm looking forward to putting this little beauty to good use.

Small camera on packs a punch
I bought this camera recently and have been experimenting with it. so far I’m very happy with the results. It has many powerful functions and I’m not sure I’ll be able to enjoy all of them, but it will spur me to be a better photographer. My two chief annoyances are that the screen is not touch enabled and the ergonomics are not the best. This camera should have a grip, because it’s small and could easily slip given the material of which it’s made

Great little camera
I bought this a few weeks ago. I’ve had this range before and decided to go up a grade to the Nikon Z range, after a year l swapped back to the compact Sony.
I’m so glad I did, it’s light weight, it has the same lens as my Nikon but for me the fact that I can put this smart camera in my handbag is a winner, also it does everything l need and a lot more. I’ll so glad l return to the new version of my old favourite, that will teach me never to change again.

Autofocus doesn't work for selfies using timer
The 'unrivaled AF' doesn't apply to selfies taken using the timer function. When you walk to the camera to press the button on timer it'll focus on your hand not when it takes the picture. Continuous autofocus is of course disabled on timer and there seems no option to get the thing to focus when the picture is taken like if you just had someone press the button after 10 seconds. There are few remote shutter options for the M7 unless you want the complicated Sony one that is bigger than the camera.
If you have someone pressing the button for you it's a good little camera with impressive autofucus. It guesses the scene wrong sometimes but that can be set in the options if it starts prefering the landscape to the model.

It is almost too small
I bought this a bit before lockdown for two purposes: trips abroad when I am traveling light, and photos of a grandchild, taking advantage of its autofocus capability. It is good as it is claimed to be for both of those purposes but lockdown put an end to travel, and I did not get to see the grandchild for over a year, so the camera was used much less than I expected.
One feature I do not like is the way the viewfinder works. To hold a camera steady, I like to hold it firmly against my head (or glasses) but if you do that with this camera, it pushes the viewfinder in a little, so you cannot see through it properly. When the image looks blurred in the viewfinder, you have to hold it a bit further away from your face, and hence less firmly. As a result, I am less confident about holding this camera steady than I am about holding a more traditional camera with a rigid viewfinder.
I also find I miss having more controls (I am spoiled by having a Sony A7R3). I have the dial round the lens set to adjust the exposure up or down as needed, which is very convenient, but ideally I would like it to be easier to adjust the aperture without changing the exposure. On the other hand, depth of field is so great, aperture is less of an issue than on a larger format camera. I would also like an easier way to move the focus point around the screen, so as a result, I leave it in Wide mode more than I would like.
But despite these minor niggles, the camera does what it is designed to do extremely well and so long as you understand the inevitable limitations of such a tiny camera, I would certainly recommend it. I rarely use video so cannot comment on the sound quality.

Fantastic compact
This little compact does a fantastic job of most photography genres.
I love the telephoto lens that in this model v 7 is up to 200m. It also has a digital viewfinder which is perfect when the sun makes looking at the lcd screen difficult.
It has many automatic functions that help the inexperienced photographer but these can also be turned off when you just want to do things manually.
Both the still image and video quality can be tuned to the users needs and multiple connectivity options allow you to upload your content easily, if required.
A great compact for walks, travel, wildlife and landscape needs.

Great product but let down a little by accessories
I bought this camera for travelling and hiking. I will always take my DLSR but there are times where the size and weight is impractical. I chose the Sony because it gave me scope to cover wide angle and zoom, it had great features and I can just pop it into my pocket. However, for a product costing over a £1,000 I would have expected the grip to be included. Also, Sony has changed the orientation of their screen so the only way to install the screen protector is upside down so the word Sony appears upside down and back to front (it doesn't look very professional)

Fab Features and Pics
I researched long and hard before buying the Mark 7. I was look in g for a DSLR quality camera without the need to carry round loads of lenses when on holiday. The Mark 7 is very good at most things I was looking for, ease of use, battery life, sharp images and compact. 4K video is great, the hinged view panel is really good, shame it’s not ‘touch pad’.
Some say it’s small size makes it difficult to hold; I don’t have any issues with this but have recently bought the Sony handle and small tripod. Although this is £100ish it’s well worth it and makes use even better.
Great camera, I love it!

Great camera for video
I bought this Camera for video filming use, I own an AX700 which is too bulky to carry around for candid shots and so the RX is an ideal size for this, if I was to be picky I would say that I wished the screen was brighter in Movie mode 4K and 4K60p should be mandatory now on all Sony cameras. The menu system is still not intuitive which is a long time Sony failing and the video stabilisation system could be stronger in 'active' mode. Also I would like to see the camera retain the last used saved function wheel profile when I switch the camera back on instead of defaulting to the original function wheel setting as this would help to lock the shutter in Movie mode which would be very useful because the Shutter and Aperture share the same wheel and I sometimes adjust the shutter by mistake (Firmware update maybe?) All in all a very capable camera, and 'Fun' to use, highly recommended!

Excellent compact camera
The Sony RX 100 v11 is now my main camera that I use. It is very neat and fits into my pocket . It takes beautiful pictures. It has a lot of very useful features including very good cine . My DSL camera with all the lenses is now too heavy to carry around especially going on holiday . I do belong to a photo club and phots with this camera do very well in competitions.

Love it
15 days with my camera and it is amazing , only wish for ND filter but will live without it . Bought the case for it and love that too except i think it should have a little window for letting the camera charge without keeping it open . Bought the tiny handle for it and it is great except the cable seems so old style when we have bluetooth in the camera my old 20 dollars selfie stick has bluetooth and controls my phone flawlessly . Other than those complaint i'm happy to buy and own the most expensive point and shoot ever :) .

Much better than my RX100V
I just wish Sony would stop price fixing with their products. I went to 3 authorized retailers and all three were afraid to discount as Sony will retaliate against their retailers if they do. It is illegal in Canada but they keep doing it.

Great pocket-able camera with quality results
I have only had the camera less than 3 weeks. Great design features built into such a small space, but needs to be easier to adjust the multitude of settings needed to get the best out of the camera. Reviews of previous models made the same complaint! Body needs improving so one can hold it more safely - Sony stick-on grip - on a £1200 camera - No!!!

The Best Travel Camera
I bought this camera several weeks ago and used it during my recent trip to Europe: Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar. This was a upgrade from the RX100 M2 (which has been my go to travel camera for many years). The VII performed superbly both for still photos (love the new auto focus capabilities) and video. Only downside is the battery life is worse than M2, but of course with the continuous auto focus, etc. I'm not surprised. What makes this a truly great travel camera is the 24-200 mm zoom. Yes you do pay a penalty in minimum aperture vs my old M2 but with stabilization and excellent high ISO quality I can live with that to get 200 mm on the far end of the zoom.

Great quality compact camera
Amazing camera I love the view finder (main reason I choose the camera)
4k video is great I use the Sony touch sd card
Most pics come out great from the box where some dark lighted pics have taken adjustments in the settings which is a little fiddly tbh,
But with time to get use to this little beast, it will be my best friend I’m sure

A premium compact camera.
Probably the best compact camera on the market today albeit at a premium price. As a fan of the RX100 series having owned mk1 and mk4 and now the 7,it amazes me how Sony manages to improve and add features at each iteration to keep us RX100 fans interested.I fine now I use my DSLR cameras less and less as the RX performs as well and I can have it with me all the time. The reason I upgraded to the 7 on this occasion was the increased focal length and excellent tracking and eye detection this model has which makes such a versatile camera.I'm not finding the lack of built-in ND filter on this model to be to much of a problem as I am learning to adjust camera settings to get round this.As seasoned photographers as myself say ''the best camera to have is the one you have with you'' and because the RX100 is so convenient in its compact size no excuse not have it with you at all times.

Almost perfect travel companion
I've had this camera since April 2020. It was a replacement/upgrade for my RX100 (Mk. 1).
The Mk. 7 is a truly great little camera. The extra 'reach' of the lens over the Mk. 1 means that many shots that would have been difficult with the Mk. 1 can now be easily taken. It is worth taking time to set it up for your personal needs and preferences (there are plenty of articles on the internet which help this). The only grumble that I've got is that the lens is unsealed and after a year or so of use I can see dust particles inside the lens. This has so far not impacted on image quality, but is a cause for concern. I imagine that the 'zoom-action' must have some sort of a 'bellows' effect, drawing dust in.

It is has all the Sony features in it for HDR, panning or any picture you may want and it fits in your pocket. Being in your pocket meaning it can be with you Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter no matter were I go.

Great image quality from a very small camera.
I have been surprised how good the image quality is from the smaller sensor in the camera compared to my apps-c camera.
The camera is small and light enough Ito be taken with me when I might leave my A77 at home. The lens is great, the auto focusing brilliant.
The small size does work against it sometimes as I find it easy to knock the control ring and touch the screen making it focus when I don’t want it to and it is a complex camera with many options that a no jive user might find off putting.
The GPS feature which I value works via your smart phone and I have found sometimes the camera and phone won’t reconnect without resetting the phone. This could be an issue with my phone of course (One plus 5) but it’s annoying. I wish Sony would go back to incorporating GPS in-camera as they did on my Sony A77.

Very Good Compact Camera
I purchased this product for travel and to replace my ageing Sony A77 so that i wouldn't have the burden to haul multiple lenses around. The RX100M7 is extremely well built, and features comprehensive and extensive. The focus is extremely fast and never misses, the colours are brilliant and i get tack sharp images time and time again. My only complaint is for the money that this costs Sony didn't include a manual in the box. I know i can view it online, but its nice to have a paper copy, also flicking through an online manual is time consuming and lengthy process.

Best Travel Zoom
I am primarily a dSLR user but wanted a pocketable camera for hiking and general use.
After much research, I settled on the RX100 VII. I wanted a camera with a 1 inch sensor rather than the usual 1/2.3, and a flexible focal length. Whilst the zoom isn't as long as Panasonic's 1 inch sensor TZ200, image quality from the Sony is much better and it also has much faster auto focus.
My only gripe is the touch screen. It cannot be used for any of the menu functions. Why include a touch screen, then not use it to the fullest.

FANTASTIC CAMERA BUT.....
I bought the original RX100 a few years ago.... Great stills but so so video. The Mk7 soots truly fantastic stills and amazingly high quality video....... immensely impressed and nought the bluetooth shooting grip as well. Very happy indeed until....... After 2.5 of taking great photos and video I turned it on and....... Nothing. Completely dead........ investigated possible solutions online to no avail. I bought from John Lewis in the UK and communication with them about repair of replacement has been appalling..... Very disappointed with John Lewis and disappointing to be without a camera that was truly superb....... I will keep trying to get through to John Lewis or will put on a mask and take it to their nearest store
Despite the camera dying on me I think I just got a strange problem and would still highly recommend it...... but not from the store I purchased from....

so far so good but initial problem with warranty
I have had the camera a few weeks now and so far so good, just need to get to grips with all the features. I had a Canon G16 Powershot before.
There was a problem though. In what appeared to be a sealed camera box, the extended service plan card had been scratched off already! I tried to enter the number to register and it was not accepted so I can only assume it has been used before!!!
I'm currently in dialog with Jessops who sold me the camera to try and sort this out.
Will provide a more in depth review later once I have used the camera a bit more

Great little Camera for travel
I bought this for use on a Travel Holiday and I am not disappointed with its features, so much in a small (almost) pocket sized camera. Only gripe is the raw files are Sony's own, I don't think I would have purchased had I known. Capture One Software not very user friendly in my opinion and would be better to have had a generic raw file in my view in which case it would get 5 stars so a little dissapointed as post processing will not be as simple as I had hoped.

So nearly the perfect travel camera
I've owned a RX100 V for some time and absolutely loved the quality of the images and the options available however it always seemed the zoom range was a bit limited and the lack of a microphone input was a real pain when shooting video.
The RX100 VII has almost become my ideal travel camera in that it has both a much longer zoom range and a microphone input but, for some reason Sony has decided to take out the neutral density filter! Presumably it wouldn't fit with the longer zoom lens but it's a real shame. Fitting filters on the front of the lens is possible but far from ideal and shooting video without the neutral density in bright sun results in nasty-looking high shutter speed results.
Until I find my ideal travel camera this one comes very close.

Small, fabulous images, great zoom
Fits easily into a pocket but delivers outstanding quality images. The perfect camera for travel and everyday use with a great zoom and pretty good macro function. Image quality is very good allowing even more cropping opportunities. The auto function is reliable delivering great images easily. However you still have all the manual control ever needed for special projects or personal preference, if required you can even tweak the auto functions to suit your preferences. The menu is complex because of all the adjustments and controls but worth persevering to understand over time. Being a bit fiddly is fine by me because of the small truly pocketable size.

Broke after less than 6 weeks
I bought the camera 6 weeks ago mainly for landscape and nature photography and action videography. Results were excellent for videos and not bad for photos but unfortunately the camera broke after 6 weeks which for a high end product is rather disappointing. I would have forgiven this if the repair experience with Sony was easy and hassle free but as it was anything but, it meant I have actually returned the camera for a refund and will not purchase a Sony product again. This may be an isolated incident but it was enough to put me off. I have spent MANY monies with canon over 20 years of photography purchases and never had any problems so will keep my business with them.

Works well
Have been using a Sony Alpha 7s as my main camera for work (I do a lot of reports as a technology journalist). I love that camera especially with the 24/240 lens, but got fed up with the weight around my neck for days at a time. I also found the focus was a bit slow, so I often found on processing that close ups were out of focus, which was frustrating. Changed to the RX100 VII to reduce weight and improve focus. So far, I have only used it for two events - the weight is much better and with a 'sling' strap, the ergonomics are much better. Quality is not quite as good as the Alpha, but shooting Raw and with DXO for processing, it's good enough and not far off the Alpha 7. After the first event, I still had some focus failures, but fewer.

Everything you need in a small package
I bought this a week ago so it's early days. I decided that owning a lot of expensive heavy gear that stayed at home most of the time was pointless, whereas this camera can be always with me, so I never need to miss a shot. It packs a terrific lot of technology into a small package, but at a cost. Nevertheless it's still cheaper than buying a body and zoom lenses.
Early experience is that the Af works great and the camera features are really useful, once you have learned how to navigate the menu. Image results have been good so far and I got some great shots that I might have otherwise missed.

I'm still wading through the instructions - this is not very user friendly not intuitive. As others have commented, the casing is 'slippy' so care needed at all times. Very versatile camera.
I have owned this camera for a week, there was a delay in its delivery and consequently it has very little use so far but it certainly a very capable tool. I am less than impressed by the overall package however; there is noo proper grip provided, it has to be bought separately, the flimsy carrying envelope which was packed with it is a waste of space and I think a decent set of instructions should be proveded; asking the purchaser of this expensive camera to print 630 odd pages smacks of penny pinching. The charging cable is woefully short.
For just another few pounds all thes miserly omissions could have been supplied, making the purchase a joy rather than leaving this customer feeling somewhat ripped off.
Anyway, the camera itself is a delight.

This was the very pocketable camera I was looking for to compliment my a6400.
This albeit expensive compact digital camera is very powerful and has a lot of the same menu functions as the larger one.
It is so easy to learn as a result and can go where I need to travel ultra light or in crowded environments.
The picture quality is outstanding and the ability to shoot RAW photos is a welcome addition.
Although not the smallest or lightest in its class, it will fit in any pocket I have and be unobtrusive.

Weather seal??!?!?
This camera is the one of the best point and shoot on the market and very good for specific travel. Why specific ... well it does not have an environmental/weather seal like the alpha 6 series, so travel to a humid environment would really destroy the camera which really is disappointing. Sony why can we not provide weather seal to the Rx series ?

Fantastic compact camera!
I was previously using a DSLR camera, but the motherboard went. I mostly used it on auto settings and never really used it to it’s full potential, so I made the decision to purchase a compact camera. I did my research and this came out well. I’ve not yet been disappointed at all! The quality of the photos I have taken so far is amazing. And it’s so easy and intuitive to use. I would recommend buying a grip as it’s quite slippery otherwise. I agree with some that the buttons are close to one another, but I have small hands so this isn’t an issue and you do get used to them. I’m still learning about some settings, but once I do, this camera has so much scope. It also has a fantastic zoom! I would highly recommend this camera. You won’t be disappointed! (I’ve added photos so you can check out the quality!).

Great camera but one button badly placed
Bought the M7 a few weeks ago, great camera, amazing photos but a silly design issue. The movie button is right next to the thumb rest and, from experience, very easily pressed by accident. Missed a few photos because while carrying the camera, I've caught the button. Checking the manual there's an option to diable the button unless in movie mode, that's now set. Could I have read the manual first? The last page of the pdf is page 634.

Great little discreet camera
This camera, for its size, takes excellent photos. The image quality and rapid focussing is everything the reviewers say. Some say the zoom is too long but I disagree, it gets you right up close and produces images you would otherwise not have got. It sets it apart from a Smartphone. It feels solid, but the buttons are small with little feel. It's also a little slippery, the Sony grip (which costs an extra £12) should be included as part of the package.

Great Camera
I love this camera for its quality photo’s in a little pocketable package. I have an SLR and a little Sony WRX but the image quality on this model is excellent. I recommend a good tutorial book to explain all its features though to get the best out of it. My only reason for giving 4 stars is l have had problems with video judder in 4K and HD at 25p through Play Memories Home, l have yet to get to the bottom of it, it may be my PC/Monitor or a setting. The only one that works without visible judder is 50p.

Had it only two days and shot 7 GB of video
I pre-ordered the Mark V and received on the 22nd. I did an interview for a customer and got some outdoor video of the area. I did it all in 4K and the results were excellent. I did have to search for the video as it wasn't in the DSC folder. Which did give me a mini-heart attack at first.
The rapid focus and facial focus were perfect. As during the interview he picked up items to show and the focus stayed on his face, even when he was off center. The effect was amazing and I hadn't even read the manual yet.
Bravo to Sony!

Just started using the RX100 VII and it's a great small camera to have in your pocket.
Great zoom and video. The small buttons take some time to get used to but once this is mastered it is easy to use.

All the camera I will ever need
I received this camera for my 60TH birthday and it is all I hoped it would be. I don’t think I will ever need or use all its functions. All my cameras in the past have been better than the old ones they replaced and the step up was noticeable, and always pocket zooms. However, with this camera the improvement was huge, particularly indoor/ low light photos.

Excellent Pocket Camera with Advanced Features
Bought this camera during the Black Friday sale, plus a £100 cashback from Sony. This brought the price down to a competitive level.
The camera has not disappointed me: very good focus and picture quality.
I took it to a concert and got some excellent shots of the performers on stage from 100m.

Good allrounder
I got this camera to replace my aging RX100m1. The new camera for me is easy to navigate and set up for shots. So far I have had some success at getting amazing snaps. of course to get that snap I may have taken 6 photos.
I find the OLED view finder to be an outstanding tool for taking the shot and then view the taken picture. The view finder can also be set up for your vision. Yesterday I had the opportunity to use the slow mo and shoot a Midges swarm over a small brook @ 250fps and its a keeper. I also got a good moon shot setting the focus to manual and the ISO to 100. I'm looking forward to testing other features of the camera when the opportunity arises. Also I have been using the RX100 for years now and do not struggle with its ergonomics. The camera is so easy and convenient to use by the way it sits in your pocket to the way the view finder and zoom just pop out and are ready to go.

Great Photos
I bought the Sony RX100 VII mainly for its apparent speed and accuracy of focusing, and the quality of the photos. So far, with limited use, I have not been disappointed. The menu system is complicated, but after an initial setting up of the camera, and putting the contols I'm most likely to use on the fn button, I don't see this as too much of an issue. The price has come down a bit but it's still an expensive little camera. For the price I think parts of the body are a bit plasticy.

Poor build quality and long delay in repairing
I bought this as Christmas present for me and used it on the Christmas day and for a wee after it. Only taken about 100 photos and 5 video clips. hoto quality was bet below par but it's early days and hope it would improve with usage.
The main problem was that the camera wouldn't engage to computer to download using WiFi. After spend few days by changing setting and trouble shooting secession with 'customer services' it was decided that it needs to be sent for repair.
I was told after few days that it would take longer to repair implying serious fault. I then asked for a new replacement as the unit was not fit for purpose and only a month old. I was told that they can't do that.
After paying a premium price for the compact camera, now I have to wait don't know until when to get my camera back.
At this price point I would expect top quality fully working camera out of the box.
On paper this is one of the top cameras in this segment but reading at various computer forums, many had quality control issues.
A camera is only good if one can use it.

Almost as good as the RX10m4
I use a lot my RX10M4, my wife uses the old yet still very good tiny Canon S120. The S120 can produce good pics, with it's F1.9 lens, but it is no match for the 1" sensor of the RX100 and it's superfast focus, the viewfinder etc. etc... So I
replaced the S120 with RX100, and decided on the m7 version because of longer zoom and maybe better tracking, while still keeping a good Image quality. Since I am familiar with the RX10m4, it was is easy enough to set the menus to my liking. To my surprise, though the RX100 wrights significantly more than the S120, still it is very compact and fits into the S120 small belt pouch.

Following extensive research I opted to buy this camera. Having used it on my daily hikes for two weeks, I’m really pleased with both the functionality and quality. My usual camera is a canon full frame but this little gem makes it so much easier when taking casual hikes and need to capture some shots.
I like the fact that I have the option to shoot in RAW format. I would recommend this camera.

Disappointed upgrade user from
Disappointed upgrade user
I upgraded from version ii. The greater reach of the zoom lens is a plus. However I was disappointed by several things. First, for the price of the camera, SONY could sport its users with a WELL WRITTEN PAPER user's manual. It took me half an hour to find out how to reformat a memory card, and that was by search and discover, not by finding it in the on-line manual ....and I had been using version ii for several years! Second, there was no battery charger in the package, and I had disposed of the charger that came with my version ii.....come on SONY, be a sport and include it in with the camera. On the other hand the RX 100 is a great camera for high quality travel and informal shooting. If I were asked to recommend a camera for that purpose, I would present the above factors and suggest that the buyer compare brands and models that might also be of high quality, but whose manufacturers are more generous with its customers.

Too Small
When it first arrived I thought great, it will easily fit in my pocket though it is a bit heavy! However after a few months I find I can't really get on with it. There are too many buttons so for my fingers there is not enough room to properly distinguish between them so I'm for ever pressing the wrong button by accident or I have to look to cover the right button with my finger first. I then bought the hand grip GP-VPT2BT; this works OK but then you lose the convenience of carrying it in the pocket. I've given it to my wife, her hands are half the size of mine so she has no trouble operating it, I'll stick to my 7R. When you make something small you have to make it simpler to operate so there are fewer buttons to fit on the smaller space.

Not fool proof
I bought this for a family wedding, as I wanted a fool proof camera that would capture all the great moments without any effort. I wish I had experimented with it before. I read all the great reviews and sadly it just didn't hit the mark a lot of the time. I used the auto settings outside in daylight, but the focus was just a bit out on many shots. If I could go back I would use the S or A mode and set the ISO. Indoors the camera was really disappointing, results reminded me of my 110 film camera in the 1980's. Maybe once you get used to it, it's fine. I like the tiny size and it feels good quality, no plastic, but It's not £1200 worth.

Seems really well built
Just opened the box, and my first observation is it is so little. Pocket sized of course, but coming from an a7III, it is small. This will be my sneaky camera when I want to be unobtrusive. The menus are virtually the same as the a6500 and the a7III, so it was easy to set up. The first one or two shots were equal to the a7III, but I expect that there will be things the a7 will do that this will not do. So far, charging the battery and then taking it out for some real world tests. Fingers crossed.

Great camera and video device for travelling
I bought this as an upgrade to the WX500. I wanted a camera I could take on holiday which allowed me to take great pictures and video. This will do that. However, the Covid-19 outbreak is keeping me at home and I haven't yet had a chance to go through all it's features.
I love the quick autofocus and the optical zoom. The new microphone jack means I can record good audio without as much win noise through an external microphone. I have recorded a short video as part of teaching amateur radio and it worked well.
The big downside is price. It really is a lot a money. I am hoping to have it for years but technology does move quickly so I wonder if it is value for money.

Reasonable performace but expensive compact camera
Bought this a few months ago as a second camera for when I don’t want to take my DSLR. It’s easy to handle and I don’t feel that I need the extra handgrip but would have been nice to have it fitted. Battery life is poor and the menus almost impenetrable. Images get very noisy above ISO 1000 and is far more noticeable even at ISO 100 than my old Poweshot. AF is fast and very impressive but the lens doesn’t seem to make the most of AF lacking sharpness on distant objects. Out of camera JPEG are very good but you need post processing of RAW files to get the best out of the camera, esp noise reduction. The pop up evf is very useful in bright conditions and just about fully readable with glasses

A Superb Little Camera!
I bought the RX100 III years ago on a reccomendation from a friend. Loved it , but always thought it could do with a better zoom. So when the VII came on the scene, I bought one! I'm still getting used to it but its a super camera. Image quality is great, viewfinder is a must for me and I'm getting the hang of the different functions (which I didn't bother with previously.) The touch function is great and something I didn't think I would use. It is pricey but I would say worth it. I have tried other compact cameras but the image quality lets them down. This one will go into a roomy coat pocket or I use a little bag that just goes over my shoulder without knowing it is there. I don't do video so can't comment on that but I understand that it's very good.

Ideal travel/pocket camera that packs a punch
The vii is a very capable camera whether you are a beginner wanting point and shoot or more advanced control through the various functions on offer. Picture quality is good and has exceptional auto focus capabilities. I’ve previously had SLRs (old school) and super zoom bridge cameras all of which require large carrying cases and for the SLR extra lenses. This camera is compact and fits in the pocket and is capable of macro pictures, wide angle and 8x optical zoom - did I mention it fits in your pocket! The digital zoom pictures are also very acceptable.
I originally upgraded from a bridge camera to the rx100 v and was very impressed with the picture quality and versatility of that model. Having the camera for 2 years I always yearned for a better zoom capability. Finally I took the plunge and upgraded to the vii for the 8x optical zoom but had to compromise on the lens speed. This isn’t too much of an issue as the iso range of the camera helps compensate for the slower lens. The auto focus performance and touch screen were both additional benefits in the vii.
I’ve had the camera for over a month and torn between the two (v and vii). I’ve taken similar images with the vii and and in certain circumstances the v took better images due to the faster lens; I take a lot of night shots. I’d definitely recommend both, especially if you are upgrading from a smaller image sensor, but bear in mind what you want to takes pictures of.
Overall the zoom lens, improved auto focus and touch screen make the vii the all round, versatile compact camera.
Note: Attached pictures have been compressed to fit the 5mb limit. Should provide a great view though of the quality.

The camera I carry most often (besides my phone)
I bought this two years ago, upgrading from the version iii which was getting wonky (rebooting itself).
I choose to shoot raw, which means I can't use super-intelligent mode. If only there were a simple way to switch. The camera is not that great in the dark -- my phone seems better.
Close-ups are also difficult: many are blurry. There is probably a way to prevent the shutter snapping if it is not in focus, but I have not found it. Anyway, it doesn't get very close. My waterproof camera (Olympus Tough TG-5) takes much better close-ups, as does my Pixel 5.
The camera is very hard to hold in my big hand without inadvertently touching something active. I have turned on video many times by mistake. On scene mode, I often lose the scene I want (usually sports) because I lightly graze the control ring. Very annoying. The touch screen is a pain for similar reasons.
The version upgrade (3 to 7) picked telephoto over wide aperture. I do like the telephoto. But the poor performance in the dark is a drawback.
I have taken to carrying this camera on big trips rather than my Nikon D810 and its array of lenses, which are a big commitment in size and weight.

A Little mighty Camera - Sony RX10 MVII
I Bought this camera as a travel camera. I already have a Sony RX100 MkIII which has a longer-reach lens but its bulkier and gives one away as a tourist when one is desperately trying to mingle with the locals! It is a brilliant camera and takes fabulous photos. If you have experience of the Sony 1" chip sensor then you'll appreciate its capability already. Buy this camera if you want a camera that takes good photos in well (to nearly well) lit environments. You can put it in your pocket, on your belt or in a hand bag. It weighs 300g approx. so it's light. If you buy this camera then you MUST consider buying a "grip" for it as without a grip you're more than likely to drop it. It is not Tactile. Sony should have included this in the original design but haven't and that is a shame on such a resourceful and innovative conglomerate company.

A quality DSLR in my pocket
I wanted something that did more or less what my Canon DLSR does, but I needed it to be smaller and more portable, as I have got to the stage where, often, no longer pack my DLSR and additional lenses when I go out hiking because I don't want the additional weight and bulk. Basically, I got to the stage where I would think "I can take decent RAW photos on my iPhone". What I was missing, though, is the creative control you have with a DSLR. I did dome research and discovered the Sony RX-100 VII. It truly is a pocket size DSLR. It has a focal range of 24mm-200mm and gives me virtually all of the control that my DSLR gives me i.e. aperture and shutter priority, depth of field, focus control, exposure control and exposure lock and so many more. The picture quality is excellent. It also has a host other photographic auto modes that deliver fantastic JPEG photos for times when you just need to snap something quickly. Then there are all the video capabilities. One more thing I will mention, it has a pop up viewfinder, which lets me use the camera the same way as I use my DSLR for most shots, although the Live View screen on the back of the camera is excellent as well. I could go on and on about this camera. It is a photographic gem and it goes everywhere with me now.

Purchased this as an alternative to my AlphaR7MK2. Easy to carry around for general shooting on holidays etc. Excellent features similar to the Alpha but with the addition of latest face and eye AI for humans and animals. Mainly shoot in Aperture priority but the scene modes work very well. The 24-200 focal length is very good as is the focusing. Only limit appears to be the maximum f11. Downloading of photos is a bit confusing but works very well using the Imaging Edge Mobile app. once sorted. Video not fully tested yet but lots of choice available and tracking feature is excellent. Menu can be a bit confusing if you are not used to the Sony system.

I am very happy with my decision to buy the camera.

Doesn’t like the heat
Best camera ever but becomes temperamental in hot weather conditions when I have experienced the zoom and controls to stop working.

Probably my favourite of all the cameras I’ve own.
I bought this a few weeks ago. I intended to use it for everything but wildlife, birds in flight etc, for which I have micro four thirds gear. But I’m so impressed by the autofocus that I may change my mind and use it for everything. Although it’s very ‘industrial’ looking, it’s great in the hand, thanks to its extremely light weight and comfortable grip. The controls are a little constrained by the camera’s size, but work perfectly well with a bit of familiarisation. I prefer having a lighter, smaller, camera than a larger one to accommodate more dials etc. Image quality is excellent, although I find the default (ST) Creative Look a bit intense. I prefer FL, which is pleasing and can easily be tweaked in post if necessary. I don’t find noise an issue. The camera is very responsive - especially the autofocus, which is the best I’ve ever experienced (having owned high end cameras from Sony, Canon, Fuji, OM System and Panasonic). In fact, the AF has to seen to be believed. I have only two complaints: the EVF could be larger with a bit more resolution and the rear screen would also benefit from higher resolution. Although both are perfectly useable. Battery life is excellent. This is probably my favourite camera of all that I’ve owned - a great balance of size, weight and performance.

Outstanding performance
I was looking for a high quality, ultra compact camera for when I travel, and after exhaustive online research and trying various manufacturers and models in store, I chose the RX 100 VII and I am delighted with my choice. The auto focus is as good or better than any I have experienced on any camera bridge/mirrorless. Virtually every shot comes out pin sharp and perfectly exposed. The quality of the images this camera produces is outstanding. As well as being accurate, the auto focus is super fast and you can turn the camera on point and shoot in under a second! The camera has all the functionality you could need, and whilst navigating some of the functions takes some getting used to, with practice and experience it becomes quite quick and easy to change essential settings as you go along. I have had a passion for photography for over 40 years and have some very good cameras over the years, and I would go as far as saying this is my favourite camera that I have owned! If you’re looking for an ultra compact camera that packs an impressive punch and delivers images worthy of a much larger camera, then look no further!

Flawed product
Bought this product 3 months ago and it has had to be returned to Sony for repair. For a product that is expensive not impressed, as it appears that it's failure to boot up is not uncommon

Great for taking any where in your pocket.
If you want to take pictures, but can not take a larger camera with you and you want more than a cell phone camera this is the one for you. It is has all the Sony features in it for HDR, panning or any picture you may want and it fits in your pocket. Being in your pocket meaning it can be with you Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter no matter were I go.

Compact camera with extensive features
I am still learning to use this camera having only had it a couple of weeks. It seems very capable, but not always straightforward to find exactly how it operates, even using the 600+ page manual. For example, although the manual may say how to turn on or off a feature, there is no explanation of what that feature may do... which for a novice is less than useful! With experience, I will learn how to use more of its options

Super technology makes this a worthwhile upgrade
I bought this to replace an aging but very useable Panasonic LX5. I am really pleased with the IQ, viewfinder, first class focussing system and the reach of the tele lens. In fact the only aspects of this product I would say detract from it a little are its price, the fact that the small batteries require replacing or recharging fairly frequently and the fact that the accessory grip and a neck strap are not included in the package for optional use, at such a high asking price. The results are great, though.

Fantastic speed of focus..
I have been buying these 1" sensor camera ever since they came out. I upgraded almost all of them. I was not sure whether I would see any benefit moving up to the VII but boy was I wrong. This is a wonderful tool that can be as simple or complicated for truly exceptional photo's

Brilliant peice of kit
Upgrade from M1 to this camera, for extras including the telephoto lens. So easy to use, the burst capacity is fantastic to get that picture you really wanted.
The best camera I have ever owned.

Great camera, Nearly there as the best in class
Great camera, pretty much gives everything you would want from a camera this size. Could do with a built in ND Filter and an F1.8-2.8 lens to put it over the top as the very best in class.

Best compact ever until it broke
If you have tried any other makes of the few compacts still available, you should know how much better the Sony Rx cameras are. However for a £1000 compact it broke with software issues and dust on the sensor so I'm very angry and unable to afford a replacement

Feature packed pocket rocket of a compact camera
Just took this to Athens with me and I love this little camera, it's so full of great features and incredibly convenient to carry around as my perfect travel camera. Autofocus is its strong point just can't fault it. What pleasantly surprises me is just how good the image stabilisation is compared to my A7Riii it's much better. I can take handheld shots at slower shutter speeds and video footage is way better stabilised. The power zoom is smooth and very good for video. The 24-200mm lens is perfect as a travel lens and retracts to a tiny form factor when it's put away. I would say any slight wind ruins the audio so this is the worst part of the camera however it does have a mic input so can be overcome but no mount for a mic so I will have to improvise. Battery life isn't great but they are small and lightweight so no problem to carry a couple of spares then will last all day which allows the camera design to remain compact. The camera feels solid and well made although it is too slippery and easy to drop so I added a Sony stick on grip and it feels much better greatly improves handing and aesthetics, only cost around £14. Video quality is excellent and photos are also very nice for its size. Not quite the photo image quality of my full frame which is to be expected however I am still very pleased with the photos this produces. An ND filter would have been nice, but overall a great camera.

Great travel camera
Much smaller than even the YouTube videos appear. My main camera is a Canon 5D mk iv so the size is proving to be a bit of an issue. Not much space between buttons so it can be awkward to press the right one when using the viewer or when you are trying to capture a shot in a moment. Great levels of menu settings but it’s getting easier to manoeuvre as I am learning how to configure the options to suit my photography style. Reviewing images is not the best quality especially if zooming in but I take RAW images and they are much better in LR and Photoshop. Great setting options to suit all types of photography. Zoom, f/stop - great for controlling depth of field, shutter speed and ISO. The scene modes are also very good giving great tones and strong colours. Used this camera a couple of times out walking and have some great shots. Would highly recommend for travelling and where a big camera with a large lens is impractical or intrusive.

Super long range and eye focus.
Unfortunately the supplied cable on my 2017 Mk5 gave way and the screen bounced off. Still could use the eye viewfinder but this was uncomfortable for editing.. every camera shop wanted £50 to send the camera to Sony and then all suggested minimum £250 repair but possibly more and all suggested buying second hand!
Decided to go for the extra telephoto 130mm reach of the Mk7 and its new minimum touch screen features.
The new animal human eye focus is super but does take time in switching to spieces to attain that feature.
The extra reach and of course the option for 20MP extra focus editing does have some limitations at full focus range as the quality does seem to get noisy.
This noise is also present in the fact that for the extra focal length there’s a lesser aperture in comparison to the MK5 which also has twice the nighttime iso range.
Otherwise a great pocket go to and the new only slightly larger size and weight is imperceptible to the hand and I actually managed the movie function easier than the MK5 when using the eye viewfinder.
I just hope that the new camera cord supplied doesn’t sheer as the last did. That would be another area for improvement by opening the cast lugs so that metal rings could be attached for greater security and more durable straps.

Incredible little camera
After just a week with this camera, I’m astounded by just how capable it is. It’s truly pocket sized and I take it wherever I go. In fully automatic mode it takes great pictures but the semi automatic and manual modes are easy to use and allow much more creativity. I’m delighted with it

Pocket sized super hero of a camera
Last year I bought a Sony RX10 IV as I wanted a superb long range camera but without the hassle of separate lenses. This worked very well but was still a bit large and heavy to take on holiday, but I really liked the versatility. Now I have the RX100 VII which is almost an RX10 in minature. For holidays this is a superb camera taking sharp photos in a variety of conditions.

A great compact camera
This VII is replacing a V and I wish I had upgraded when the VII was introduced. I was waiting for at VIII to come out, but happened upon someone who had the V11 and this made my mind up to purchase. A great zoom facility on such a small camera and the quality of photograph is excellent. The camera allows beginners to just point and shoot, whilst for professionals it is a great tool to simply fit into a pocket.
