Significant improvement on built-in microphone
Works well within its limits. I bought it for use with a RX10 iii but you can't expect the microphone to have the kind of reach that the telephoto lens does! Pricey, but convenient

Perfect if you want to film in windy conditions!
I'm using this in conjunction with an HDR-CX900E camcorder and it's mounted and connoted very quicks and easily using the Multi-Interface Shoe. No extra cable connecting or fiddling! I'm using this Mic to film outdoors and in windy conditions therefore using the provided windscreen. The result is perfect and finally I can maintain the recorded sound when editing my movies. It does exactly what it says on the tin and I can recommend it.

Good product
I am very pleased with the product and it's performance. The microphone cover helps reduce wind noise (as advertised).

Great, no wires or batteries required
Many people love the idea of a microphone socket on a camera but in the real world that means a wire, a separate battery and a switch to remember to turn on before and off after filming. So this, powered and controlled from the camera, microphone is great.I have lost the wind muff so I would prefer a better way to keep it attached. I can't find a spare, maybe Sony could tell me where to buy one ?

Simply Good Sound!
Simple to use, with excellent sound capture and reproduction. Fits easily onto the camera hot shoe. Start filming and the mic takes over from the built-in. That's it! It does what its supposed to and does it well.

Nice Stereo Mic for Use with Multi-Interface Shoe
There are situations when the in-camera microphone is not directed properly to the subject sound and the microphone picks up extraneous sounds. The lens hood on many cameras further reduces the pickup of the source by hiding portions of the in camera mic.
This Stereo Microphone solves these issues by having a more directional pickup and the mic is raised about the camera's lens hood. Recording quality is quite good and in-camera noises sometimes picked up by the internal mic are gone.
Unit is for cameras with the Multi-show interface only. I do wish Sony made an adapter for older cameras (CX-760 for example) to use this unit securely attached to the camera. The mic also comes with an external cable to hook up the unit to a mic-in connection and comes with a nice carrying bag and mic wind noise reducer.

Compatible with the Sony A6000?
I am thinking about buying this mic. Is this microphone compatible with my Sony A6000 camera?

Not a huge step up from Sony a7 RII internal mic
I use this on a Sony a7RII and it is noticeably better than the internal mic, especially outside with the dead cat but it's not a huge step up from the internal mic. If you need top quality audio this may not be right for you. If you just need a somewhat better audio via attaching this small easy to use device on a Sony mirrorless camera go for it. Small, easy to use easy to carry. Top quality audio, I don't think so.
