Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product G Master FE 100-400 lens This lens is outstanding and gives you the versatility for photographing portraits to birds in flight. The lens is lite enough that you can take handheld pictures . I mostly photograph landscape and the versatility NYC skyline from NJ. And this lens has become my go to lens. I would recommend buying the 1.4 teleconverter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A brilliant lens, excellent quality and optics I have been upgrading my system to full format and this lens completed the upgrade. It was an excellent choice. A very good lens optics and response are very good, tracking with the A7iii is superb. This gives me the longer focal options for the photo choices I make. Excellent lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra fast to focus and tack sharp even at 400mm Sharp at every length, and super fast to focus when paired with my A9, this is a very versatile tele zoom. It's great for picking out detail in general shooting as well as the obvious use in wildlife and sport. No compromises here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality Lens Owned the lens for about a month and have done quite a bit of hand held bird life and surfing photos. I am delighted with the quality at all focal lengths. Only negatives are the price, which is the most I have ever spent on a lens, and the weight, but I guess without that the quality of construction wouldn't be possible. Am yet to try it on the tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great image quality First impressions, using it with my Sony A7R111, razor sharp images at all focal lengths, focusing fast and accurate. The lens feels well balanced and relatively light considering it’s size. Seems easy to use handheld but I use it mostly on a monopod, my only criticism would be the tripod foot doesn’t have a Swiss Arca fitting requiring the purchase of a suitable plate. Quality of the lens appears great but I can’t comment on durability having only had it a short while, overall I think this is a great lens and anyone taking the time to use it properly certainly wouldn’t regret the purchase

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SONY G Master 100-400mm personal account I love this lens, because of its build, quality, reach and size/weight. Not very happy with tightener ring, as the lens tends to drop in or out, depending on position. Also, would be nice having a lock. Ideally would be internal zooming, to avoid all this. Maybe in the next version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from superb lens. Always had a 200mm lens but upgraded to the 100-400 cant rate it enough, super fast and pin sharp focusing, a superb companion for the A7riii. Amazing results, and very acceptable with the 2x converter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from R3_100-400GM I had this lens for couple months now and I've noticed the lens sometimes it won't focus. I have to turn off the camera and it the lens works again. I updated the software to the latest one available to download and that did not fix the problem. also, the manual focus to infinity is not calibrated correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FE100-400GM Image quality is superb, reminds me of my old Sony A mount 70-400G but seems lighter and easier to handle. I find the zoom ring a bit stiff even on the smooth setting compared to similar zooms from Canon and Nikon. All in all an excellent lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality engineering, OK IQ This lens is wonderfully well-designed and built and relatively small and light. It produces outstanding images from an A7R4 at 100mm from wide open. At 400mm it can produce very sharp images in evenly lit scenes. My copy suffers from veiling if there are highlights in the scene, with loss of contrast. I'm assuming that the coatings are not fully up to the GM label and price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super sharp lens An expensive but high quality lens that works well with the Alpha A7R3 giving good auto focus performance and good sharpness, colour rendition and contrast. Works well with the 2x converter. A good lens for wildlifeif you can afford it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not for video, otherwise great lens This is fantastic lens for photography with practically no compromises but if you look for wild life video lens, this one is not for you. image stabilizer is not optimized for video and achieving smooth footage even from tripod is impossible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, powerful, travel telephoto Having owned the excellent A-mount 70-400 f4-5.6, which traveled with me for mainly wildlife photography all over the world, I wanted the performance benefits of this lens with the Alpha 7 etc series of FE mount bodies, in particular the ability to use the telephoto converters with a rich range of features. I am delighted to have made the transition. Results with and without the TCs are excellent and the autofocus features are a real pleasure. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the tracking for the I bought this lens and the A7RIV a few weeks ago and have been very happy with the lens quality and the tracking. I shoot mostly wildlife and it seems like I am always in low light. From all the reviews I was reading I thought I would give it a try as my second camera and lens. I have a Nikon 850 with a 200-500 lens also with me at all times. It is hard to say which is my favorite at this time. I am excited to see how the Sony preforms in the next few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible lens I recently switched from Canon to Sony but kept all my Canon L lenses. I was so impressed with my A7RIII that I sold all my good lenses for the 100-400mm GM – I am not disappointed! This lens is super sharp and the focusing is very fast. I mainly photograph wildlife and this lens is perfect for the sort of environments I photograph (mainly around ponds and woodland). The OSS seems to work very well, and I have no problem shooting at 400mm handheld. Having the programmable button(s) on the barrel is fantastic and it is great being able to have focus lock right where I am holding the lens. The only downside is the colour (not the best for wildlife photography), but thankfully there are third party neoprene camouflage sets available. While it is an expensive lens, you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lemon The lens comes with the build quality I expect with regard to materials but I think I got a lemon because the picture quality is sub-par. Even from tripod and auto focus the pictures are not crisp. Sent in for repair twice now and waiting for second return to test the workmanship. I would like to think this lens was skipped during the manufacturing quality checks. I have several Sony lenses and this was the first time I had issues but will most definitely purchase again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb image quality I've used this lens for over a year now on the A7RIV and A9 Mark II and it's been superb on both cameras. Image quality is excellent, great sharpness with very nice rendering. Autofocus is very snappy and accurate. My only niggle with this lens is that it does not have a zoom lock, and even with the zoom ring set to "tight" the lens does suffer lens creep (zoom extends) when walking around with the camera and lens on a sling strap. Oh, it would nicer if it was lighter too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens while it lasted I purchased this lens in March 2021. It performed great the first few times when I used it to take a few shots of the moon (see photo), and a few other shots. I took it on a recent vacation and when I went to use it, I could not get it to focus either in Manual or Automatic mode. The sharpness is no longer there even though I babied this lens, no drops or rough handling. I have no clue as to why, but now I have to go through the hassle of sending it in for repair etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing all rounder I rented this lens several limes before buying it. I found it very versatile, the main thing that sold it to me is the auto focus on this lens is amazing. This lens has optical steady shot as well that allows you to get away with some very slow shutter speeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointment I bought this a month ago to replace my Sigma 60-600 F4.5-6.3 DG and I have regretted my decision. I switched because Sony's 100-400 is a much lighter zoom lens. But its performance is far from meeting my expectation. First, it takes much longer to focus and second, the quality of the photos is far from satisfactory. There lacks a zoom lock and so it just "zooms" out whenever it is left dangling down from my shoulder. I probably would need to look for another replacement soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp, light, love this lens I bought this lens instead of the 70-200 since I've always had 70-200's with other systems and have not regrets. Paired with my A7R3 this lens is even good for doing concert photography with marginal light. The only thing that could make this lens even better would be cutting the lens shoe to fit arca swiss, it'd be such an easy mod and if I still worked in a machine shop I'd have done it myself but instead bought an aftermarket foot to accomplish it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite lens I have owned and used the Sony 24mm, 24-105 and 70-200 lenses. I also have the 24-70 2.8. Despite other lenses being more compact, the Sony 100-400 GM is on my a7Riii all the time. I only switch when I want to photography something specific. Many people say the 70-200 is a good all around lens, but I now use the 100-400 instead, which has replaced the 70-200. I love the close focusing distance, fast focus and image quality from the 100-400GM. And yes, I use it mostly hand held, which is a testament to the overall handling of this lens.

After a few trips looking for birds, the zoom starts slipping. Now, after a couple of months, I have to move the lens back every few minutes when walking with the lens pointing down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love this lens!! I have been shooting Canon gear for many years and after seeing that my Sony RX10III got better results than my Canon 7D Mark II equipped with Canon's 100-400 MM L lens, I decided to look into high end Sony equipment and purchased this lens with a Sony A9 II. Amazing results - I was blown away by the immediate acquisition of birds in flight which is one of my favorite subjects. I am totally sold on this and my A9 II camera!! I also love the fact that the lens as a programmable button on it which I use to transfer the camera to crop mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp and clear at times I changed my set up from a canon to Sony last year. Generally you can get some really sharp images with this lens, yet one of the most frustrating parts I find as it’s a variable length same with the Canon L series variable lens, is that that it doesn’t hold securely when you change the length of the lens. The lens is quite heavy to compliment the mirrorless range of full frame cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product I am extremely impressed with the quality of build and pin sharp focus of this lens. Bought for sport and wildlife, I have no regrets about splashing out - but perhaps I should not be surprised given all the good press around G Master lenses. It's true.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great telephoto but a little husky! I bought this lens because I needed the focal range for my action photography. Nice sharp photos through out its focal range. Only thing I probably have to get used to is its heftiness at just over 3lbs.....that's me coming off an APS-C format camera setup with kit lenses that weigh much lighter. I guess this is where monopods and tripods will help. Lastly I think the price is a little on the high side when comparing it to other mfgs that have similar focal lengths and specs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super travel lens I tend to use this lens for holiday as it’s a great all rounder. Close focusing down to around a metre so excellent for butterflies and dragonflies too. Not to heavy and pretty compact but too expensive for what it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic IQ I bought this lens mostly for landscape use and I have to say that the IQ that it delivers even at wide open apertures across the frame is simply stunning. Focus is very fast and silent and is still good in low light on the A7rIII. Build quality would appear to be excellent and all the controls are well placed. It is not a small or light lens but that is to be expected. My only serious issue with it is that they have not included a zoom lock as my 70-300 G lens had and this means that even when set to the 'tight' position front of the lens can extend if it is hung at your side and you are walking about. There are work arounds to solve this but I would have thought that on a GM lens they would have thought of this. Apart from this it is indeed worthy of the GM rating and though expensive (as all Sony lenses are) I am happy to have it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Switch to Mirrorless I chose this lens as it was the best choice for me to purchase along with the a7lll. I am delighted with the image quality and the Sony products have boosted my photographic experience. Still experimenting and enjoying the new learning curve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pin sharp This is a quality lens giving pin sharp images throughout the zoom range. It is also excellent to use as a macro lens, and also works well with the 1.4 converter. It isn't the lightest lens but I have no problem carrying it all day on a black rapid strap.

I updated the software to the latest one available to download and that did not fix the problem. also, the manual focus to infinity is not calibrated correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tack sharp and fast autofocus I bought this lens a few weeks ago and am overjoyed. It actually weighs less than the 70-200 GM and is incredibly sharp. Really glad that I made the purchase. Wish that the lens foot had an Arca Swiss dovetail built in so that you don't have to either add a lens plate or spend the money to replace the foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taking Photography to a new level have been taking pictures for 60 years, from a Kodak Brownie, to SLR, to SLT to mirrorless. This lens paired with the Sony A7Riii takes my photography to a new level. The lens is as sharp as any I have used. The optical Stabilization is unbelievable. Co-ordinated with the stabilization in the camera I can hand hold at 400mm for less than 1/100 of a second with out visible shake. It is clear that my 70 year old hands can't hold a 3 lb lens that steady but the stabilization of lets me do the impossible. If I had any negatives it would be the weight of the lens. But it is expected in a long lens of that quality. Also the fall off of the lens is less than I hoped for meaning I need to blur many shots in processing. (I never thought of complaining that a lens is too sharp). Sony has outdone itself with this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My long wait is over Ive been wanting this lens for a couple years but i kept not buying it because its so expensive. And being retired money is not easy to come by. Im 75 years old now so it was really a want instead of a need. So i just want to let others know that this lens is awesome and a definite keeper. Wish i could have bought it sooner. I have a Sony telephoto 70 to 200 f4. But found it just didn't have the reach i wanted a lot of the time. I read the reviews of others trying different brands and they didn't seem satisfied so thats why i got the Sony….its focus is amazing and I'm totally satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Lens A bit of a learning curve as this is my first long lens, previously I shot with the FE 70-200 F/4, which is an amazing lens in its own right, but when I get the focus correct, this lend absolutely delivers. I have since added the 1.4TC, and using an a7riii, in crop mode, 840mm shots of the moon are incredible. The only weakness is NOT having the dedicated lock-switch for the zoom. The resistance ring works well, but even at its tightest setting it does not stop lens creep. Really wish it would. And yes, it is expensive, but I don't know what could be done about that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply a great lens I bought this lens in March for wildlife photography and it has not disappointed, it is simply the finest lens I have ever owned. Thanks to its excellent image stabilisation it produces pin sharp pictures from its maximum 400mm extension even hand held. It is lighter than my previous lens of this size, important when out for a whole day in the field. Even cropped pictures retain a quality that is a significant cut above the norm. A brilliant product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional lens Spent the last few years using various other telephotos such as the sigma 100-400 and the Tamron 70-300, mainly because they’re cheaper. Finally decided to take the plunge and spend a little more (double). All I can say is I should’ve gone straight for the Sony! Better in every way and just pure joy to use. Puts a smile on my face every time I pick it up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First was worst but now it's wow! I bought this lens at the end of December and did not have much opportunity to test and use it for the first couple of months. When I did, I was frankly disappointed in the sharpness of the lens across the field. Finally I called Sony about it and they decided that we should send it to Precision Camera for warranty service. It came back to me in a week. They returned it to factory specs and updated the firmware. The lens is now incredibly sharp. Now it's wow! So I'm very impressed not only with the lens, but with Sony's warranty service. Thanks so much Sony!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens I have owned this lens for 3mth. It’s a great lens for wildlife and other types of photography. I use it predominantly handheld and have some great results. It’s a pity the zoom isn’t internal like the 200 -600, in hides when zooming in and out particularly behind glass mean moving back and forwards. The lens is light weight enough to use for a long session handheld and travel. I do on occasions use the 1.4x extender and again have had some great results. If you’re looking for a versatile lens that give great results, then this is a good choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding sharpness from a super telephoto I've used the original Canon 100-400 lens before and always knew that its sweet spot was around f/8 or thereabouts ... but by contrast this lens seems to be razor sharp wide open at any focal length! It's truly astonishing ... the sharpness at f/5.6 at 400mm is as good as you'd get with a 400mm prime. If you can afford it, go for it, there's no way you will be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Versatile Lens I bought this lens to do some wildlife and sports photography. It is a very versatile range for a lens. Not too heavy to carry around. I am using it on an A7R2. It seems very sharp at the shorter focal lengths but the results have been disappointing at times at 400m with too many shots out of focus even for static. birds. It may be that the A7R2 cannot focus well at that end, so I need to find a way of testing it properly on a tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely awesome lens! I bought the lens seconhand from LCE recently as a treat for myself after coming into some money, as I have always dreamt of owning it. It is paired with my Sony A9 and what an amazing combination it has turned out to be. It is a bit of a learning curve how to use it, with the incredible focal range, but I am getting used to it now. It's great for landscapes, wildlife, portraits of the family and of course sports (but not yet had chance to try this yet). The image quality is out of this world even when zoomed fully in, the build quality is of course excellent for a GM lens and it has now opened up a whole new world of photography for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens I use with a7rii and have added 1.4xs converter. Reducing to APC delivers as much as 896mm focal length at f8. Autofocus can still cope and I have good results. The lens is even manageable hand held. Do not be greedy and go for 2xs converter unless you have the a9. A7 and 2xs will drop to f11 and you will be manually focusing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp, light, and quick AF with 1.4 and 2.0 PCs Excellent lens, sharp and quick AF. Much smaller and lighter for travel than my 200-600. Works great with both the 1.4 and 2.0 TC when there is enough light for the F-stop reduction. Has short minimum focal distance and have used for everything from wildlife to sports, landscape, flower closeup and portrait. Primarily use for travel when I don't carry 2 bodies fitted with other lens. Big disappointment is no zoom lock on external zoom GM lens. Has softer/tighter ring but lens creeps even on tighter setting. I knew this when I bought it but other features offset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome lens This is an awesome lens. Build quality is superb. Images are jaw droppingly sharp. I use this lens mostly for landscapes and for that it’s great and although it’s heavy I bring it with me everyone I go out to shoot. The extra 200mm over the 70-200s is useful and opens up more possibilities of compositions. Not to mention at 400mm it’s still extremely sharp. I’ve seen online there were creeping issues with extending lens barrel even when the ring is on tight but I haven’t had this issue (at least not yet). We’ll see how this holds up after more use as time passes. One improvement is if the lens has a locking mechanism like on the 24-70 GM. All in all fantastic lens and you shouldn’t hesitate to purchase this glass if you shoot landscapes, you won’t regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On location shooting Eagles I bought this lens to take on a wildlife trip to Norway in January. I have the 100-400 but needed a little extra distance and did not want a ‘trombone’ mechanism to zoom. The lens was easy to transport and was no problem with my carry on back pack with airlines. Temperature on location was not extreme, -4degrees with snow and some showers. No problems with the lens functioning at all. I used the lens on a fixed gamble, hand held and in a boat across several Fjords. There were no problems using the lens hand held, the eye tracking and focusing was exceptional. My hit rates increased considerably with pin sharp images. I am very pleased with my purchase and the images I managed to take. An excellent lens for this type of shooting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no good, buy the 70-200mm Hi, I thought you might like to pass this on to your many readers. I have the Sony 70-200 and it's without doubt a fantastic lens so when I read all these reviews on the 100-400mm I was really excited when I got it but you would not believe how disappointed I am and have since returned it at a return cost of a few hundred for restocking. It's nowhere near the performance of the 200 and for the cost it should have been as good as. Not once could I get it to outclass the 200, maybe the 400 was defective if so readers should be warned to test before buying. The picture attached shows the upper picture taken at 400mm and the lower taken with the 200 at 200mm and then I zoomed in on the original to get the same perspective and even having zoomed in it's clearly better that the 400 as taken....the originals can be supplied...taken with the A7r2

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great at Every Level I bought this lenses as the 2-600mm became too heavy for my injured shoulder. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite lens for wildlife I hired this lens for two holidays before taking the plunge and buying one for myself. I've been thrilled with the sharp images I've obtained of wildlife. 400mm is enough to capture animals at some distance without being so heavy that I can't hold it steady. 100mm is short enough for the animals that come somewhat closer. My new Sony camera + lens combination meets all my needs, plus providing a “complete integrated package” with following additional benefits . . . . . . ** superb sensor performance, not seen on Canon SLR cameras ** excellent low light capture, matching any SLR performance ** superior focus tracking ** burst shot rate equivalent only to expensive SLRs. ** small, light & compact camera footprint / unlike this lens which is solid but weighty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony GM Lenses are Truely Grand Masters lenses I bought this lens few weeks ago. I went out to test this lens today in cloudy day. Took few snaps. What is my impression. Build quality is great. Doesn't feel heavy in hand but eventually you feel it. As paired with my A7R4M its cumulative 2kg. 1.4 kg from lens.Lens zoom part relapse if set on smooth. However if you turn ring towards tight it hold well. Focus is quick but if you have used GM lenses you may feel its not quickest .I think 200-600mm G OSS and 70 to 200mm GM OSS are faster. Works well at 3ft distance in case you wanna shoot something up close. Optics are sharp, but not as sharp as 70-200mm GM OSS.Low light performance is reasonable. Bokeh is creamy. Lens produces superb detail. Noise is very little on high shutter speed even in low light and hand held.Colour reproduction is excellent. When I compare image quality with my SONY FE 24-70GM or FE 70-200GM I feel that its a bit less sharp in detailing. Very difficult to quantify. Its not that its not sharp. Its a great lens I dodnot experience chromatic abrassion. There was no vignetting.Corners maintains sharpness.I have not shot a very tall linear building hence cannot talk about linear distortion. Although it maintained alignment and sharpness when I covered a wide brick wall.Unfortunately I deleted those image. For wild life many times I felt like missing my 200-600mm. But I changed to APSC mode and it was on job again. I didnot felt any loss of quality. It wins on its small length. One can pack 3 lenses and go. As it all fits in small backpack or camera bag unlike 200-600mm G OSS. What is my final opinion, Yes I would buy it, but price is hefty. I would like it to improve at par with FE 70-200mm GM lens. Here I am attaching you few pic from my todays shoot. I used apple photo to edit it. Please leave your comment for me to look into your experience. Its my early review. Thanks for read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive After shooting with Nikon for 40 years, I just recently switched camera systems from Nikon to Sony. For starters, I bought the Sony a7Rii along with the Sony FE 24-70 F2.8 GM and Sony FE 100-400 F4.5-5.6 GM OSS. I have to say, I love this Sony system. The ease of capturing images, especially fast paced images, is surprisingly easy. The images attached were captured with the outstanding 100-400 GM. The focus system on the a7Rii never missed a beat with this fast moving Waverunner. The viewfinder is just incredible. I love being able to see exactly what I am capturing at the exact moment I pressed the shutter release. The detail of 42.5 MP's is unreal. My only regret is that I didn't switch systems sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very fine lens After having this lens for a few weeks, I am impressed. I had the A-mount 70-400 mm (and also still have the Minolta APO 400 mm f:4.5), and the E-mount lens is better than it's A-mount zoom sibling in every respect. This lens even focuses fast with my old A7 camera, and can successfully be used for action, like birds in flight. I also like how the tripod socket foot can be removed from the lens, very clever design. Sharpness and contast is excellent wide open at 400 mm, which is the main reason I bought this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens. I've been waiting for some time for Sony to make a quality e-mount zoom telephoto lens I just wish they done it sooner. One thing is for sure this is a very good lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb quality I have been waiting for this lens for some time and the wait was worth it, fantastic optical quality and also excellent with a 2x, the only negatives for me is at f40 the images show any dust on the sensor and the A9 really attracts dust and there is an issue with manual focus when using back button focusing, I have highlighted to Sony and it should be fixed with a firmware update (the problem is not on the 70-200), still really love this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lens! I bought this wonderful lens a week ago. It focuses quickly on the Sony A7R. So far, I have used it to photograph a swallowtail butterfly. I shot handheld at 400 mm, f/11 aperture preferred, and the camera set the shutter speed over 1/1000 sec. The attached photos are edited and cropped. It is a delightful lens to use. The lens uses a lot of power, so I bought a vertical grip and another battery (now 4 total).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stupendous when matched with the a9 body I've had this lens a few days and have shot about 2,000-shots, with it mounted on my Sony a9 body. I'm comparing it to my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II. The image quality of the Sony and Canon is very close. Shooting wildlife, neither is leaping ahead of the other in IQ. I'll trust DxOMark when they say that the Sony is slightly better. What is stunning, is the quick and accurate autofocus, even when using all 693-autofocus points of the a9. When I at the Sony 1.4x teleconverter, there's no slowing. It's amazing. The performance is an order of magnitude better than the Canon on a Canon body. Someone was comparing to a Sigma lens. There's NO COMPARISON of the Sigma 150-600mm. The Sigma's image quality is several steps behind the Sony and the Canon. If you crop the shorter lenses to match 600mm, the Sony image will be sharper than the Sigma image. Oh, did I mention, the Sony is noticeably lighter than the competing Canon. Okay Sony, send us a 600/f4 G Master lens and I'll be totally crossed over from Canon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just wanted to add a photo to my previous post. I shot with an a9 on full auto with stock settings straight out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Optics; doesn't zoom smoothly though The optics from this lens are first-rate; as good or better than the Canon 100-400 L ii lens and better than Sony's 70-200 F4 offering. However, my copy of the lens has a definite grinding feel when zooming down from 200-100mm in focal length, and that concerns me that the gearing might have a problem or need lubrication.
