Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I've been wanting a sound bar for a long time. The speaker on my TV just doesn't cut it. So I definitely needed something that gave a great experience whenever I watch TV. This sound bar from Sony is amazing! Right out of the box, it is very easy to set up and start using. It fit perfectly on my entertainment center and looks very sleek. You can tell it's definitely well made and I'm glad it's durable especially since I have small children. The sound is crisp and I can put it as loud as I like or at normal sound range. Either choice gives me great sound every time. I'm amazed with how much I've been missing from my movies or shows. I hear more things which gives me a way better experience than what I've been subjected to. I don't hear any muffling and it's very clear. I'm actually very impressed with this. I should've owned a sound bar from the start! Definitely recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the worst sound bars I have ever used. A few months ago I decided it was finally time to bring some sound bars into our home. I had absolutely had it with our regular puny television speakers. I went to our local Walmart and purchased this exact Sony sound bar as well as a cheaper Walmart brand one “Onn” that was just 5 inches shy of being the same length as the Sony one. I hooked the Sony up into the television in my man cave room and hooked the Onn up into the television in our master bedroom and we continued out with our normal television viewing. After a couple weeks of using both sound bars I was amazed at how poorly the Sony did compared to the $50 cheaper off brand sound bar and my fiancé felt the same way. Very taken back by this I thought maybe it was the televisions or the set ups in different rooms in general, either way I swapped the sound bars to different rooms to see if that made any difference and sure enough the Sony still did poorly and there was the way cheaper off brand Walmart one putting out beautiful sound with great kids/highs and bass. I really was trying to give the Sony one the benefit of the doubt and was trying to push my opinion of it on more ok it’s maybe a more clear-crisp sound and doesn’t produce the range as the other for good reasons. I was foolish in even thinking that and just realized the way less expensive one sounded a lot better than the Sony, in my truthful opinion this sound bar is terrible and I would highly recommend not using it, especially with the amount of great ones there is out there. This one was taken back after a couple weeks of disappointment and replaced with a Vizio that absolutely blew it out of the water for the same exact price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crystal clear Wow!! I’m blown away at the quality of this. It was very easy to set up and follow the instructions. I enjoy that it has the holes on the back to attach it to a wall if your tv is mounted also. It’s pretty lightweight and super sleek. When we got it set up the sound was so much crisper then my actual tv. It goes up quite loud too making it optimal for a multitude of uses! Your able to connect your phone also and I just think that’s so cool!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrading the TV but not the best way Adding this one piece sound bar is surely an upgrade to my Bravia TV because the weak point of it is the sound . Nevertheless , the bass improvement of this sound bar to almost zero . Now the sound is much fuller than the TV , not because it’s good but it’s worse from the TV . One more thing : if you found the sound bar cannot lip-sync with the TV , try set the sound output to PCM . That will do the trick .

The sound quality exceeds the built-in sound of my TV; it doesn't even compare. It was very easy and fast installation. It looks very modern. The top of the Soundbar consists of leather that makes it look elegant. The first portion of the video demonstrates the sound quality with the soundbar turned on. The second part (TV built-in speaker) begins when I turn off the soundbar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Soundbar I got this to replace one I had that stopped working. This one is so much better than the old one. It was easy to install. If I can figure it out, anyone can. It comes with everything you need to use right out of the box. You can tell the difference between the settings, music, cinema, night, voice, ect... It easily hooked up through the Bluetooth with my phone and I listened to playlist through my music app and it sounded great. This soundbar is a definite improvement to my tv's internal speakers. I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply awesome I hadn’t ever used a soundbar prior to this one, but I recently bought a second TV for my home on sale that looks great but has terrible built-in speakers, so I was excited to try this soundbar with it. Saying it’s a huge upgrade would be an understatement. First of all, it was easy to connect to my TV with the optical cable, and it fits nicely on my (sort of crowded) entertainment center. It looks great, and it sounds even better. I love watching movies with great musical scores, and the great sound quality that this soundbar offers is a must. The Bluetooth functionality is a great bonus, too - I love being able to play music off my phone without having to bring a separate Bluetooth speaker into the room. I didn’t realize before how much this soundbar would improve my enjoyment of movies and music, but now that I’ve used it, I couldn’t be happier with it.

Best features are its sound quality for the price and the rock steady Bluetooth connection which is the best audio bluetooth connection I have come accross. The worst is its lack of inputs, HDMI, Optical and USB? No AV audio ,no phone jack not a lot of flwxability there. Originally this was not a problem straight optical connection but then when I had no Optical such a pain.

We used them the first time while watching a movie, and it felt like we were in the theater. for us this is amazing quality way better than our original tv. it was very easy to install and use.

I always felt my television (also a Sony) had great sound, but this really enhances the sound and gives great depth to it. I like that there is not a separate woofer which must be placed elsewhere. This unit rests neatly on the stand in front of the TV. After I bought mine, my sister dahed out and got one.

This sound bar is easy to install by using an optical cord that plugs in to the back of your TV. Comes with a remote but you can just use your TV remote to control the soundbar as well. There's no static to it, it's clear sound that comes out with built in tweeter. We didn't need anything outrageous for this room and this works perfectly for family nights.

I would recommend using it on a Sony TV, and I highly recommend using an optical Toslink cable. Then you can use the TV remote to adjust the volume on the sound bar.

I didn't need to use the instructions as I was already familiar with setting one up. I was only able to use the digital out for my setup but it still works perfectly. The sound has a nice balance and the bass can definitely be heard especially in cinema mode. I tried the Bluetooth setting with my phone as it worked flawlessly. I'd highly recommend this product.

It's choices are; auto sound, cinema, voice, standard, music, and night. It's convenient and easy to use. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small but mighty sound bar! I considered several different brands of sound bars before settling on the Sony HT-S100F 2 channel bar. I'm so happy with this choice! I considered sound bars that had additional speaker towers and cost a lot more, but ultimately am so glad I went with this one. This sound bar is perfect for my needs. I have a small space and my tv's speakers face backwards toward a wall, which results in background music or sounds being incredibly loud with voices often too soft to hear. Once I plugged this sound bar in, I was able to customize the voice and background settings and couldn't be more pleased. No more blasting theme music that drowns out the speech! I feel like it's easy to get the whole home theater experience now. The Sony HT-S100F sound bar comes with everything you need to plug and play included in the package. It literally could NOT be easier to use! If you've been searching for a mid-range priced small sound bar, the Sony HT-S100F is perfect! Highly recommend!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's ok Just a couple of steps above what I get out of my flat panel TV, for the most part ALL of them only come with acceptable sound, I'll take this as a way to enhance sound, nothing dramatic; in the past operated pricey professional SONY devices so probably I set myself up for disappointment expecting much more, I'm used to get a lot out of SONY and it's my first time with an affordable product, none the less I expected more, it seems like sign of times where quality and performance meets...at a lower tier. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Install Optical Digital Cable The installation instructions clearly state that if your TV has an HDMI (ARC) on the back of the TV that you do NOT need to also install the Optical Digital Cable (supplied with sound bar). My TV has the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) slot so I used a new HDMI cable and did not hook up the Optical Digital Cable per instructions. However, only after I did hook up the optical cable did I get my system to work properly. I went through all the appropriate trouble shooting steps before I finally figured it out and got it to work. I hope this helps others who encounter the same issues. BTW, the sound bar sounds GREAT!

My Television sound was horrible. This soundbar made a big difference, especially with hearing the voices instead of background noise/music. Remote is a big bonus.

Everything you need to know is in the easy to read instructions. It took me less than 15 minutes to hook everything up. The sound quality is absolutely insane. I set it up in my bedroom and you can easily tell the difference between this and the television in my living room. I am extremely happy with this!

There are certainly higher end versions of audio equipment you can find, but dollar for dollar this is really good quality. Mine isn’t ideally located due to it blocking the tv I put sensor when located where it should be, but even with suboptimal position I like it.

This caused the sound to always be quiet, so we started looking at systems to help with this. We were looking at systems that had multiple speakers, but this sound bar seemed like a better option to me. It was very easy for my husband to get set up and working. The way it is connected allows it to be controlled by the tv’s remote control, which is nice not to have another remote to worry about. I think the sound quality that comes out of the sound bar is very good. It has more depth to it than just the tv did. The only thing that I wish was different is that when you adjust the volume it goes up by 2 each time instead of just 1. Another minor drawback is that the optical cord that came with the speaker was short. It was too short to be used, and we had to use a different cord. Beyond those two minor items, we have been very pleased with the speaker. It makes the home movie watching experience much better.

The different sound settings are perfect for switching between games, music and tv. Amazing quality and volume. The power cord is a little short but this can easily be swapped. Other than that, I genuinely don't have a single complaint so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wanted More We were so excited about this Sony soundbar but were somewhat disappointed by the sound quality. Installation was simple and fast but the quality of sound coming from this product left a lot to be desired. We have a 7 year old Vizio soundbar this was replacing but the Vizio sounds better than the Sony. A couple pros- I love all the presets on the remote for the Sony which include movie mode, a mode that amplifies talking, night mode, and music mode. The presets are simple to use and I could tell a difference with each of them. The remote design is pretty cool after I learned how to use it. It looks sleek and clean. I really like the overall size. Easy to install. Has potential to be controlled by TV remote which I wasn't able to get working because our TV is a little older and according to the instruction manual, it doesn't work with all TV's. But I believe this should work for most newer TV's. Cons- I wish the soundbar had indicator lights that showed exactly how loud the sound is. Instead, there are 3 lights that will indicate if it is quiet, medium, or loud. Overall, the sound quality wasn't up to par with what I was hoping for and I was left wanting more. It was definitely better than the sound coming straight from the TV but it lacks bass and deep tones.

Sometimes volume reaches a good level sometimes not. It is as if there are selected channels where volume is limited. Purchasing the sound bar provides me with many options and variations of sound type. I really am enjoying my sound bar best purchase and affordable. Actually everyone who has visited my home are now proud owners of sound bars.

I'm not sure if the sound quality would be ideal for a large room with a large TV, but for a small apartment room it worked great for me.

It does come with an optical cable but not an HDMI, so you might need to get one. I like the different sound preferances available on the remote! really makes a difference!! I love it!

Barely better than the speakers on the tv, which are a disappointment themselves. Wouldn’t waste money on this. Spend a bit more and get something better.

It’s very easy to switch from one source to the next, the remote is convenient, and it’s the perfect size to fit below the TV. The sound is very nice too. You can hear the difference between all the different modes. Overall, great sound and extremely user friendly.

Since it’s a Sony sound bar, I figured it would work easily and quickly. Hard wrong. This sound bar was super hard to set up and a lot of troubleshooting. I have a $2500 Sony tv and this was not easy to figure out. Took about three resets for it to find my sound bar and I had to put it on a specific HDMI port to read. The sound also isn’t great. There’s literally no bass and it sounds so flat. My TV sounds better than this. I do still have it hooked up because it can provide a louder sound than my tv but it doesn’t do anything special at all. If you want a sound bar that offers better sound and a superior bass, don’t get this. It’s very mediocre and I’m not impressed at all.

I chose Bluetooth and was easy and fast. It has six settings for the audio such as music, cinema, standard, voice and night. Is also great for listening to music through your phone or USB device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good! First, I love how securely this sound bar was packaged. Out of the box the sound bar is very light. The set up was fairly easy and the instructions were very easy to follow. Initially, I believed the sound bar was supposed to stand with the "Power, Bluetooth" symbols facing the front. So when I went to turn the system on, I did not understand why there was no light display. After turning the sound bar over, I realized the lights were underneath and that it was sitting the wrong way. It did not help that my manual showed the lights and the symbols on the same face of the sound bar. Next, I realized that the sound bar has a remote sensor that sits in the back of the console, which was also confusing. I was not sure if the remote would interact with the console properly, but somehow it does, which is good. And when the console was placed on the television stand, it was a little unstable. It did not sit flat for me. I'm not sure if that is because of the tension of the cords in the back, or if the console is off balance. If you tap the sound bar, it will rock slightly. The sound is amazing, but I noticed the sound was a lot better from behind the console. I found this very strange because one would think the sound would be more prominent from the front speakers. When I put my ears to the front speakers I could hear very well, but there is a cavity in the back of the sound bar where the sound is loud and much more crisp. I'm not sure why the sound bar is built this way. Maybe the cavity in the back is meant to amplify the sound? The Bluetooth feature worked perfectly for me. I wanted to listen to music while I cleaned up but did not want to use my phone. So I just pressed the input button on my remote and it instantly switched to Bluetooth mode. All I had to do was pair my phone to the new system. The sound was very nice and the bass was great and not too thunderous. I love this sound bar. The remote is also not too big or small. I would say it is the perfect size and all of the buttons are self-explanatory. Setting up the remote was very easy and there was no extra guess work involved.

Bass is a little let down but is a better alternative to not using my home theatre system for watching Netflix or listening to Spotify music when you just want to chill out and listen to good music.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to hookup, fuller sound than my television Just bought this on Monday and have it hooked up via the digital optical since my TV does not have HDMI-Arc. Autosound on and so far clear audio and even music sounds good on the HT-S100F. Word of advice, if anyone is running a Roku from the last couple years, Dolby Digital can only output through HDMI-Arc. Ill be upgrading my TV in the near future to get that feature. Overall very satisified with this purchase and would recommend to others!

I was not able to use the HDMI port on the soundbar due to my tv being a bit older but the optical out was sufficient enough and sounds great. Also, I really like textured finish and the black helps blend in with my tv.

I purchased it and after installing and hearing some of my music and my TV movies, it was unbelievable how crisp the sound is. You can tell the difference from another brand sound bar that I HAD because I tossed it. I could no longer go back to anything but my Sony! I need a week to explain how beautiful the sound that come out of my sound bar. It’s design it’s perfect, I get compliments every time my visitors hear it when they come over! Instructions tell you to connect optical digital cable from the optical in jack on the speaker to the optical out jack on the TV, none of my four TVs have an optical out jack, so this makes it unusable for me. Could not find a phone number for help. Will return to Walmart.

Though you will need to make sure you have a spare ARC or eARC hdmi port. If not you’ll need a digital audio out as well as a free hdmi port. Sound is fantastic. No more overly loud sound effects with silent dialogue! This thing is great!

I'm just a more BASS type of guy. Built quality is great being a SONY product and all. Sony I have questions to help me fix my more BASS issue? The soundbar looks sleek and packed with features, but fails where it absolutely matters, sound. There is no Soundstage, no bass whatsoever. Compared to my 65 inch TV, the sound improvement is noticeable, but barely. The surround make up is purely from mids and highs, so you really can't turn up the volume especially for movies since your ears will hurt from the dialogue and treble. The built in sub doesn't bring any bass even if there's a claim for a sub bass. For comparison, I connected my SRS via Bluetooth, and the sound was better than the S100f. If you're looking to improve tv sound, steer clear of this one. For the price, the sound improvement you'd get is not worth it.

My mom is very hard of hearing and this helps keep the tv loud enough for her to hear. It has great sound quality and it is never muffled. I especially enjoy using it while watching movies, it gives a great sound experience. I would highly recommend this product to anyone!

It does not tell you the volume in numbers of how loud it gets but I have it on halfway on the volume meter on the remote. Definitely would purchase this as a gift for someone.

It's much slimmer than others which is a plus and can be installed on the wall if wanted. The remote is set up very user friendly with buttons for auto, standard, cinema, music, voice, and night settings. Sound capability for different reasons is great, however some of these settings do not seem to make much of a sound difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Sound, Much Better Than The TV Speakers! I love this soundbar! I have an older flat-screen tv, so it doesn't work when just watching cable. But when I listen to music apps on the fire stick, I can use the soundbar. And it sounds amazing!! There are four different types of sounds to choose from: night, voice, music, and cinema. The music sounds great! We also watched a scary movie on Halloween, using one of the apps on the stick. And the movie sounded great too! There are just a couple of minor things I'm not crazy about: It looks a bit bulky sitting up on our tv stand. Also, when watching the movie on Halloween, we kept having to turn it down with the music, then couldn't hear the people talking. So we'd have to turn it way up. It got a bit annoying, although it sounded high quality with the music and much better than the tv speakers would have been. All in all, it's a great speaker! Much better than the tv speakers, and sounds great when playing music. Just a heads-up, if you have an older tv that doesn't have bluetooth, it most likely won't work (which was the case for us). It works when we have the Fire stick plugged in the back of the tv because the stick has a bluetooth feature. Not all the tv sticks have bluetooth though, which we also learned. Check before purchasing, if this speaker will work with your tv and accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW...Great Soundbar So, it's been a week with my Sony Soundbar. I have watched sitcoms and movies with this soundbar and the sound has been great. So I gave this Sony soundbar the ultimate test by watching the Star Wars series and the soundbar adapted to sound needed at the right time, allowing you to hear the characters and the background sounds. The soundbar is easy to hook up, it's Bluetooth capable, and the remote lets you pick the right sound based on what you are listening to. The remote even has a night feature that allows you to hear the dialogue without bothering the wife. Also, the remote has a feature that allows you to just hear the voices clearer, which is a good feature for those with hearing impairments. I have my Sony in our bedroom connected to a 55' and it provides great sound in this space. I will be purchasing another for my son during the holiday, and I do recommend this soundbar.

I wall-mounted the soundbar just below a 50-inch tv and visually it looks perfect. The soundbar is enough to fill the master bedroom very clearly, the room is about 300 sqft bedroom. It’s perfect for what we like for movies, gaming, and music. It was easy to set up and pair with our all-in-one remote control. The soundbar is great and worth every penny in my opinion.

We have an older tv so we did have to get an adapter but once we did that set up was quick and easy. The sound is amazing it sits flat in front of our tv. The only drawback is whenever I watch or listen to various apps on my tv, I can’t get it to connect, so I can’t HEAR anything at, that defeats my purpose in buying this. Unfortunately I cannot get in contact with phone help right now either, and I REALLY want to be able to listen to my things on Netflix and Sirius through the sound bar! HELP!!

The remote has to have perfect aim to use, but once you get use to it it easily controls the volume etc. Love that you can hang it so you can get some great sound in any room of the house. Now when I'm listening to my action movies I turn on my 7.1 home theater system. Its a good system, but I think I'm gonna move up to the 1 with the built in sub. Later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B-I-G Disappointment !! The single best word to describe my Sony HT-S100F Soundbar is “DISAPPOINTING” - VERY disappointing. I purchased the Sony after purchasing and having HDMI/ARC communication problems with a JBL soundbar. I was told by the electronics store sales rep that Sony TV’s [mine is a 55X75K] have a reputation for communication problems with any soundbar brand other than a Sony. So I returned the JBL to the store and bought the Sony at Amazon [out-of-stock at the store]. The Sony has similar communication problems!! About 50% of power-ons work properly, maybe 25% require me to turn the TV ON separately as TV comes ON then goes OFF. Another 25%, as above the TV goes OFF, but when I turn it ON, it doesn’t know which source had been on previously. A real nuisance! I suspect that my using a DISH receiver/remote as the master control is part of the problem. But I should have kept the JBL. This behavior is not acceptable, but at this point, I’m stuck with it. The sound produced by the two are different. The Sony does a credible job with enhancing dialogue, but has NO BASS compared to the JBL. The Sony does have different sound fields that are useful; the JBL only has 2 and I can’t hear a difference, and they are a nuisance to use as it resets to default at power off. The bass on the JBL is a bit boomy, but I heard things I never heard with the Sony TV’s speakers and are completely missing in the Sony soundbar. I do NOT recommend this Sony soundbar.

The first sound bar I received brand new did not work Tech support said that my HDMI cable needs to be change but the unit was bad I cannot rate the sound bar because I did not have WI-FI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good little sound bar I purchased this through the air miles site. It has good sound plus you can pick for different scenarios like Cinema or talking. The Bass is good but it could be better but it's a mid range sound bar so it's kind of what I expected. Overall I am happy with it.

When I decided to upgrade the sound system of my TV, I read plenty of online reviews on how to purchase a soundbar without breaking the bank. Finally chose this product after many considerations. The set up was so easy and the sound was great. I would recommend to use HDML arc cable (which was not included) instead the cable came with the package. This soundbar is great for entry level of setup of your home theater system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price I wanted an inexpensive upgrade to my Sony TV’s speakers so I bought this soundbar. It was on sale at Target for $99 and it was an instant upgrade. The cinema mode is really good and it makes watching movies much better.

It plugged right into the TV and the sound is outstanding, clear and crisp. And the price was well below other brands that rated just as well. We are very happy with our decision!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds pretty good Not as loud as expected but sounds good. It was also harder to get to connect than the directions led on. My boyfriend is a gamer & has it bluetoothed to his gaming set up & it has great surround sound just not like a super loud or deep sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like being at the theater This Sony soundbar is definitely a must have! It’s like having the theater in your living room (or whatever room you choose to put it in). We are in the middle of painting, so we haven’t put it in the wall yet, but the sound effects would be so much better once we do. It’s super easy to set up even if you’re not tech savvy. Simply use an HDMI cable and you’re good to go. It even comes with a remote, which I just love. As far as sound goes, man it’s amazing!! It’s so clear and so loud (if you choose it to be). It’s literally like being at the movie theater. The sound effects make you feel like the action is going on at your house. Listening to music on it is amazing too. It’s exactly what I expected it to be. Doesn’t take up much space and adds excitement to any movie/show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Solid, Comfortable This unit is surprising Solid for it's price point. sometimes being on the low end @ $99.00 you would expect to get "A Soundbar" the S100F is actually amazing I've i had it fro a day and i'm already comfortable with it stylistically blending into the space under my T.V.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound The sound bar is awesome! The design is also very slick and fits perfectly in my console. Very easy and simple set up (less then 5 minutes). The only caveat is it does not come with an HDMI cable if your TV has HDMI (ARC) input but luckily I had an extra one laying around. The sound bar is easy to connect to your phone to play music off Spotify as well.

What bass there was was an annoying low frequency sound that was barely audible. It sounded like a outside noise coming through the window. Just not the sound bar for me.

The audio quality is great and it's very helpful that it came with a audio optic cable so I wouldn't have to make a trip back to the store to get one. After I installed it I checked out all the sound levels and audio quality and am greatly pleased with it. The addition of this soundbar to my 55" TV has definitely improved my movie night experience

The Sony S100F 2.0ch Sound Bar was the perfect solution for my small space. It was easy to install. There were 2 options for installation, HDMI and Optic audio. I chose the optic audio input because the HDMI is used for our Fire TV input. It was easy to connect and set-up was simple. This soundbar also has Bluetooth compatibility allowing me to connect with my phone and my Amazon Echo. We stream music often in our home, so this was an important feature. The sound is a huge improvement for both the television and music devices. The appearance is sleek and stylish. There is the option to mount the soundbar on the wall or let it stand. I chose to stand it on our fireplace and it looks great. This speaker is very affordable and is a great addition to our home.

If you are a serious audio person that is used to 7 speakers this one probably won't impress you. But for most people this will be way more than adequate. From box to operational took me all of 10 minutes. Instructions are clear. Connections are simple. The remote is easy to use and has some nice features. The design is clean and it looks great. The sound is substantially better than my TV speakers. I especially like the voice option for sports broadcasts. This would make an excellent addition to a bedroom TV. The unit easily attaches to the wall. It is just a great unit.
