Doesn't work out of the box
We purchased several of these. One I've just opened doesn't work at all.
We've had other Startech devices with problems.

Good usb 2.0 hub - good not great
As far as Usb hubs go this is just average an average hub in my opinion. The build of this item feels cheap and there is very little weight to it. For some the weight may be a good thing. I found that the cables plugged in, pushes the hub to where the cables want it to go vs. a heavier hub planted in one spot and cable s being plugged in.
The hub could use some power indication as it would help to have some indication that the product was receiving power.
For a USB 2.0 hub it seems to have the normal transfer speeds you would expect.
Overall the performance is ok. I would say my biggest complaint is the cheap feel and the lack of weight to hold the hub in place.
I received this product in exchange for an unbiased review

Not for Mac 10.7.5!!!!
Worked great at 1st.... then for no reason my mac did not connect it. Works fine on another computer and the USB port on the Mac is working. Seems a common problem with Mac and another brand of USB hub. Not a StarTech issue.

Why no Power Indicator Light?
Hub seems to work as expected, but would it have been that much harder to put a light on it to indicate when it is powered?
