Only Works When A User Is Logged Into Windows
This is due to Windows's Thunderbolt security (DMA protection). If you need your network interface to stay up when there is no user logged in such as after a reboot, this device will not work for you. StarTech needs to say this in the description. Now, I can't return it and I have a $250 paperweight.

Never worked well, then stopped working at all
It worked okay at first. It was inconsistent in terms of speeds, up and down. I managed to get close to my full upload and download speeds after spending an hour tweaking the settings. Tried different drivers, etc. Four months later it has stopped working entirely.
Not sure why, but this thing is a very expensive piece of junk. There aren't many options for 10 Gb Ethernet adapters that are compatible with Thunderbolt and on Windows.
