Tripp Lite's USB 2.0 to SATA / IDE Adapter allows individual or simultaneous connection to either a Serial ATA or IDE drive (2.5" / 3.5" / 5.25"). You can also transfer data between a SATA and an IDE drive over the adapter. Configure hard drives without having to install them first. With the U238-000-1, any SATA or IDE drive can be conveniently turned into an external USB 2.0 storage drive. Included with the product is PC Clone EX Lite software, which allows you to quickly backup and restore files. The backup button on the unit allows for quick backup of your files with the press of a button. PC Clone Ex Lite is compatible with Windows. The U238-000-1 is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Can't live without it
Fortunately I do not have to use this as often as I once did but for those times when you are in a crunch and a user has screwed up their machine but has no backup then this is a life saver. Only once did I try to use it and was not successful but that was because the user fried the hard drive. I will never be without this handy little guy. I wouldn't feel right. It is so easy to use and so wonderful. Thanks so much for this product. :-)

Use It At Work All The Time
Handy when you need to recover some data for a user, from a hard drive that has already been removed from the device due to End of Life Cycle, repair, etc. Has many applications for use. I definitely keep this little life-saver in my bag.
Product manuals (included version and online version) have conflicting information in reference to the "Backup Software". The manual that shipped with the adapter refers to PC-Clone EX Lite Backup Software and the online product support manual refers to J-Micron Backup Utility. Also, both manuals state that if you don't have the CD that comes with the adapter, or don't have an optical drive, you can download the "Backup Software" at www.tripplite.com/support. I have yet to find any supporting software available for download. I'm in the no optical drive camp on this one. Point me to the software I can download and I will be more than happy to touch that 5th star.
