Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Outstanding Receiver This is an update from a previous Yamaha that lasted years. I am not disappointed with this product and would buy another Yamaha when (and if) the time comes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome System This system is a true surround sound system. Great for watching movies. I am using the E Arc. When I turn the TV on the system turns on and I can use the TV remote to control the volume. I recommend this system to anyone and everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value from a great receiver Home theater movie enjoyment and listening to great music is why I purchased this unit. I love the unit and how great it sounds with my incredible Golden Ear speakers. This is my third Yamaha receiver purchase. There are no bugs or problems to deal with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great AV Receiver! I bought my first Yamaha receiver in 1981 (R-900) that is still in use today and sounds fantastic. This new AV unit is everything l have come to expect from Yamaha - versatile, is packed with features and has awesome sound performance. This would be a great buy at twice the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big improvement over older Yamahas I have two older Yamaha AVRs between our summer and winter condos. I bought the RX-V4A when the price dropped and will be buying another one next year. Definitely an upgrade in sound and function. HD sound with upgraded DAC that I desired. Ability to use two Yamaha wifi speakers as surround speakers which my older AVRs could not do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Great, powerful, nice design at a good price. Two things not prefect is the screen on it, to small and difficult to read things on it and the remote not really easy to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an absolutely wonderful unit. Very pleased with the performance of this unit. We have been one over by Yamaha. Since it's purchase. We've always used basic 5.1 surrounds. But they do not compared to the performance and quality of this one. Or the capabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice This receiver is great. It has wifi, bluetooth, HDMI, two sub outs, and it can cast to Yamaha Music cast speakers wirelessly. You can also send audio to one of two sets of speakers if you like. It has decent power and for the price, it is absolutely unbeatable. I got this one to replace another Yamaha HDMI receiver I bought about 15 years ago that finally gave out. It had far less technological capabilities and it actually cost more than this one. You will hardly find a receiver with the features and capabilities of this one at the price point of this Yamaha receiver. I hope this one lasts as long. If not, I'll just replace it with another Yamaha receiver. I only use Yamaha receivers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yama-Hammer It's been many years since I've been able to enjoy the sound from a Yamaha. But thanks to Crutchfield and an excellent price, I'm able to enjoy impeccable sound. Too many systems today are way over priced. Yamaha is trying to keep it versatile, affordable, and most of all enjoyable. I love the ability to use different pre-programmed sound venues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Basic Overall I love the sound and style is great! I was very surprised even without an separate amplifier, the unit is very able to drive my fronts towers (NS-777) and surrounds(NS-B40 and center channel(AP2600).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frequent failures I have to reboot the unit frequently to get it to reset and operate properly. I shouldn't have to do this with a new unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yamaha RX-V4A Update The new receiver is replacing another Yamaha Receiver that could not be repaired economically. It provides Musicast which I like and has other similar capabilities. One recommendation I would like is for a larger user interface screen as visibility is much reduced over previous model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance 5 Stars, Set Up 3 Stars I found the set up challenging. The process for turning pre sets and so forth off and on is dense at best. The sound quality and ease of use once set up is outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for my little apartment This works really well in my setup. Fits in the same space as my old a/v receiver. Uses the same speakers and subwoofer. Updates my system to 4k. Much simpler interface and remote than my old Sony receiver. All that and on sale too. I am happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good digital performance After a couple of months of use, I am very pleased with my RX-V4A. I use it primarily for Pandora and Bluetooth streaming from my phone to two zones, and the occasional Blu-Ray movie. The WiFi and Bluetooth performance is far superior to the more expensive unit from another big-name company that I replaced with it. The TV and MusicCast app user interfaces are pretty good designs. The MusicCast app took a little while to get used to navigating, but it is very responsive and has not frustrated me at all. The Pandora control features available through MusicCast are a little limited compared to the Pandora app. I have no legitimate complaints about the sound quality. I have not spent much time exploring the sound settings. I very much appreciate the unit's low power consumption and power management.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! But... So this receiver and speaker set is overall great! The sound is crisp and clear, the sub produces great bass, it was easy to set up. However, the only instructions it comes with is how to put it all together. The instructions on how to manage settings and all the other components, you have to download. This is frustrating because as you are trying to learn the different settings and how to get the best sound for different things, you have to open a document on your phone or computer and try to do it instead of having something in front of you. It's a small thing that just bothers us but I'm sure for people that are more well-versed in surround sound systems it isn't an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! There are 2 things I think could be improved. I use it for home theater and music. I wish the display was bigger. It's hard to see display from where I sit, about 10' away. Wish MusicCast was easier to set up. Still don't have it working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All I needed I use it 100% for HD/lossless audio streaming and CD playback. It has a very high quality DAC, a very convenient streaming interface (MusicCast), great power, and crystal clear audio. I couldn't be happier with the product or the excellent service I received after purchase. A Yamaha engineer even called me after I asked a relatively esoteric question via email. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new Yamaha Surround Sound RX-V4A Receiver This little unit is a big step up from my giant Pioneer surround sound in terms of separation and clarity. For the price, sound is excellent and surround is internally balanced very well. I recommend this as an entry level system receiver/amp. I have it hooked into theater, CD, DVD. I needed to buy a separate phone pre-amp to hook up my table. That was only downside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound! Great cost/ benefit ratio! It's my first Yamaha receiver. I'm very impressed with the sound quality. The sound is crisp and clear. I have also enjoyed the Musiccast App, which makes the system operation very straightforward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, poor manual/user guide. No user manual/guide included with the product. Went online and all of the manuals/guides showed how to configure speakers. Would really like to have documation that demonstrates how to use the product features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have known better.. solid sound quality.. but two college degrees doesn't make it any easier to learn how to use this receiver you need the remote for basically everything.. had the thing for a few months.. with help from customer service I finally managed to hook up spotify.. still couldn't tell you how to do the most basic things like adjust the bass or treble

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear Crisp Sound We purchased this receiver to connect to our Bose Acoustics home theater system. The sound is great both for the movies & music. One small issue is that for some content, the surround speakers doesn't give any output for certain music modes. It could be related to our system being old but overall the product is good and we are happy with the sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice, easy to use receiver Bought this receiver to replace a unit stolen from my motorhome. It was very easy to install and setup. I now have 3 Yamaha receivers and the reason I keep coming back to Yamaha is because they know sound! They YAPO microphone setup and selection of sound stages they can replicate are unmatched. The sound quality is absolutely amazing. The ease of use thru their apps for setting up and controlling the sound just makes everything that much more enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. I bought this receiver for surround sound after my other one got fried by a lightning strike even though I had surge protectors. My old one had to have surround settings done manually. I liked how this one sets it automatically. Price was good also compared to others which were more expensive but had less features and connections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I love it! The built-in audio scene selections are great. I also really love the ability to stream audio from a large selection of internet sources via the phone app. It also has an adequate number of HDMI inputs for my home theater needs. What I wish I could do is more easily cast to it from my Google smart home system. While I can use my Google smart speakers for basic control of the unit (which works great), I cannot add it to my Google groups for casting audio. So, I have to choose between using Google speakers all throughout my house (which allows me to roam throughout my house) vs. listening via my Yamaha unit in only one room. This is my biggest frustration.
