Previously I would have had to open a working PC and install the "crashed" drive to do this. This adapter makes it much faster and easier. All drive functions are available, so all disk utilities will work with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 byJD from Product worked greatMy Primary Laptop hard drive failed. I was able to use chkdsk to reassign sectors. Then I needed to copy my 120G drive to my new 320G. I bought The USB 2.0 to IDE or Serial ATA Drive Adapter.This allowed my hardware connection for my software copy application to copy the old drive contents. Then I installed the new 320g drive and all problems resolved

I work with a lot of older computers and laptops and the wide range of connection options with this device makes it hard to live without. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that is constantly connecting someone else's drive to their own computer.

Then, I bought this product to connect her old c drive to the new laptop through the USB port. Product worked perfectly. Still using old c drive as her new external drive.

I removed the hard drive, plugged in the cables following the included simple instructions. MY PC HD now sits next to my laptop and works perfectly. Cables arrived quickly. Worth every penny. It took longer to open the package than to install and connect.
