beware if looking for wireless printer
bought under the assumption it was wireless , was not aware that the wireless device is not only a separate purchase but is not available for several months . had I know this i would have waited for the color print unit

Very Cachinbon. Super great in an office setting although it does give random errors at times it is nothing that is outrageous. It is also very fast and has increased our efficiency tenfold.

Like this printer, gets a lot of use in my office. Wish the printing was just a tiny bit faster, but I think that's my server creating the slowness of printing non stop and having the delay it does. Copies are nice and clear.

Full of advanced features
Out of the box, the unit is great. Struggled getting all of the software side of the unit configured properly. If I was swapping out an older MFP that had many features as this does, then it would be easy to configure. Certainly a great unit for small business, but a bit overkill for a residential use. Speed and quality are hands down awesome. Document feeder is pretty solid and works well.

Great office machine
We have one of these in our office and it gets the job done! it is our fastest machine, and for the most part super easy to use. The one downfall for me is how difficult it is to clear jobs when there is a jam, or disconnection from the internet. The you spend a lot of time waiting for the machine to load.

Constantly cleaning the scan glass
We had three 4150 WorkCentre machines and have replaced each with a Versalink b405. These machines need the scanning glass cleaned almost every day to ensure there are no lines. We are using link free cloths with alcohol.
The scanning glass strip on the 4150's created lines that needed to be cleaned maybe once every 2-3 weeks.
Nothing changed in our environment but these Versalinks. We scan customer docs that come from our back office systems and vendor docs that we receive with shipments.
We didn't see this level of scanning lines until using the Versalink. Too bad.

Some good, some not so good.
I really like the speed it spits out copies and the printing, but I seriously dislike the speed of scanning just one page. When it's just one page, it has to run it back and forth three time. Multiple pages doesn't do that. I dislike the fact that if someone has opened a tray while it's awake, it has to be prompted that it's okay to continue. I'm sure there's probably a logical reason for these features, but it just seems like extra hoops to jump through for our office, especially since I have to come from another part of the office to press the "okay to continue" button if someone has opened a tray. The quality of the printing is great, I have no dislikes about that at all. After all is said and done, I guess I'd recommend the product, but I would be upfront in telling them what I disliked about it and therefore they could decide.

I like everything about the printer but the fax.
Everything works very well once the xerox experts helped me get everything to work. They had to take over my computer to make the programs to work propertly. They even suggested not to hook up the fax part of the printer. Other then that I like the printer.

Reliable, Fast, and Predictable Costs
I supplemented a color inkjet with the Xerox B405 Black & White Laser as the bulk of my printing (home office) does not require color. The cost to operate is predictable and Xerox has always been a reliable tool in my office. The unit is fast! It can be a bit difficult to setup however support is available as necessary.

Poor quality prints
Machine frequently prints streaks on the paper and prints too dark. We are constantly having to clean to try to get rid of the streaks. It does not have the capability of resetting the light/darken to default to something else, so you have to change it every time!!! The only thing good about this device is it prints multiple copies quickly.

Xerox copier
This product was purchased to be able to use one copier for both prescriptions and copies. I liked the fact that we can send email and faxes via email, directly from machine. After purchasing, found out that in order to use bypass tray for prescription paper, tray door HAS to be open, therefore in our way in the office. I did figure a way around that. I feel it's much slower on scanning our papers to patients' charts than old copier. We had to have salesman come back just to show us why copier was acting the way it was. In our defense, copier was delivered after office had gone home and there hadn't been any instructions on usage until after we all decided we hated the copier.

overall a good MFP
I always love xerox and try to buy or lease regularly, but had to go through a lot to set it up. still cant scan over wifi even though i have wifi adapter

Why is it so difficult to print envelopes?
I had high hopes for this printer to produce quality envelopes. What I get is wrinkled envelopes that look like a 4 year old mashed them up. I am so disappointed. I wish I could send this printer back, or have someone fix this issue.

Do Not Buy This Product
I thought with a name like Xerox I would receive a superior product and it is when it works. However, this printer constantly goes offline and it is connected by a cable. It is continually in error state or offline. I have to turn it off and back on at least twice a day. Trying to keep it working is a huge disruption to my day.

The product does everything expected.
the copying is faster than my previous Xerox machine. Scanning is much easier. Faxing is working a lot better than before as well. Faxing confirmations are only generated when a fax is not successful. Saves on paper and toner.

I do not like this machine. When you change the type of document being fed into the bypass tray, you have to take a minute to change the information on the screen for the document to feed properly, when feeding an envelope through the bypass tray the envelope wrinkles and looks very unprofessional. Having to change the information for the bypass feeder when I go from paper to envelope becomes time consuming and annoying. The Xerox machine that I had prior to this one did not require this data input. Proof that newer isn't always better.
I would love to have the old machine back!!!

Very good product
The printer is a very good printer. It's fast and the print quality is great. The only issue my company is having is that we occasionally (unfortunately weekly if not twice a week) in order for some in the office to print, we will have to do a hard reset by unplugging the printer after we turn it off and let it sit for a minute before restarting it.

Only One Problem - ENVELOPES
The Versalink B405DN is a great printer, great scanner, great faxer, great copier. HOWEVER, to print envelopes you have to remember to release the fuser tension in the back of the printer before sending the print job (otherwise you'll get a crinkled envelope). Here's the process...Since my Versalink B405DN is sitting in a small 3-sided alcove, I have to get up from my desk/computer, walk to the printer, grab the 50 pound beast, lift and rotate it so I can access the back panel (if your printer is in a more open area, you might not need to rotate it to access the back). Now, to switch to envelope mode, open the back panel, lift the two green handles, then slide the two green switches inward, then lower the two green handles, close the back panel, walk back to the computer and tell it to print an envelope. It will perform the task quite admirably. If you have no more envelopes to print and you want to go back to regular printing/copying/faxing, then you need to open the back panel again, lift the two green handles, slide the two green switches outward, lower the two green handles, close the back panel, and (in my case) rotate the printer back to its original position. The only way I found to make this process easier was to make a lazy-susan spinner on which my printer now sits. Dealing with the fuser tension is still a maddening process, but at least now I won't get a hernia rotating the printer. This printer just replaced my 10 year old Canon ImageClass MF6550 which had zero extra steps for envelope printing. Without the envelope issue, I would have given the Versalink B405DN 5 stars and recommended it to a colleague. If you rarely print envelopes, then this is an awesome all-in-one printer and the Xerox phone technician that comes attached for one year really knows her stuff.

This product has great features, but I don't know how to use many of them.
I did not get a user manual; therefore, I can't utilize many of the features. I would like to be able to enjoy the new machine, but without a user manual, it's very difficult.

The product is not easy to set up unless you know what you're doing. Xerox tech support is the worst I've ever used. I called five times without getting any help at all. I will not be buying any Xerox products in the future.

A problem solver
We reached out to Xerox due to issues we were having with another line of printers. We had very specific needs, custom label paper, stringent application requirements for the labels that required a good deal of ink adherence, etc.
After sending over samples, we had a very successful demonstration of the machine and its print output and, once on the ground, have had excellent results to date.
If anything, this machine actually has way more power than we actually utilize, giving us a broad area for expansion of services in the future. The print quality is so far unsurpassed for our very narrow requirements. I would recommend this printer to anyone, home or office.

Good print quality but some connectivity issues
The quality of printing is very good, however, it was difficult to set up for wireless printing and sometimes when attempting to print a "printer offline" message is received. The customer service was very good and worked with me to set up the network but the "offline" message still causes frustration.

little bit off printing versa
the paper comes out curved from the platen element, and lies on the printer in that curved shape, not on a flat or downward slope like many printers. we have to put the printed material face side down and hopefully the weight will flatten it out. other wise the printer works well, scans well, double sided printing and copying works well...

Awesome multifunctional
This so far is the best multifunctional printer i have! Easy, efficient and quick. Scan, fax, copy and print both sides with great quality. I first bought it on my country and I really loved it, now that I moved to the US, without hesitate I ordered it. I am very happy with the purchase.

Not good at all
installation is so complicated, even though i have not used it yet after several hours trying to install it with an IT person, we call so many XEROX staffs ranging from their sales team to their Technical support yet they could not get it done. until they have to refer us to upper level according to they there was where we were able to get the help. that is to say many of the Xerox staffs doe not even know more about their products. i just hope this B405DN MODEL will not give me issues because i can stand the problem of getting the right person to take care of it any more

The manual is not easy to follow. I had a hard time making the scanner work. I still am having problems using the scannerafter talking to tech support. I called many times and after reaching out to many different tech support staff and becoming frustrated with them, I found only one person who was knowledgeable and was able to assist me. I guess if I know how to work with the device, I will like it but right now I am not very happy with my purchase.

I love the speed at which it prints and scans.
I like the way it prints and scans. My previous printer was very slow and would stop in the middle of a job. It would jam quite often also. So far the Xerox has been far superior. I would definitely buy another one.

Very good printer for small office. The one item I wish that it had was a memory function for scan to Drop Box. You have to enter user name and password every time. Should allow users to save the user password. Not see it, but save it.

The quality and speed of printing impress me most for this machine.
Ever since this machine was set up, it has increased my office efficiency tremendously and eliminated too many worries as before. It has never broken down until now. Its printing speed is terrified! And the scanning is also excellent. The only issue that I cannot credit this machine is that it is hard to adjust to legal paper for its function.

Automatics scanning with paper feeder on top and make copying easy.
The automatics paper feeder on top of the printer makes it easy for me to scanned and copy multiple quantities of pages without getting stuck.

Faxing is inconsistent, it apparently isn't compatible with some digital phone lines. I could not set it up without outside help. Support was great in figuring out email, scaning, and error codes.

Very satisfied with the machine and the ease of ordering. Greatest concern would be to keep it maintained and supplied. Hope to make use of the Xerox Lifetime Service via products directly from Xerox. Little concerned about getting sufficient notice in order to get supplies before it stops performing.

Xerox Printers Are User Friendly
I like the simplicity and ease of Xerox products. I used to work for a company who had the Xerox Work Center Pro, and I LOVED it. When i started working for my current employer, they had multiple desk top printers and only 2 laser printers. When we moved locations IT decided to invest in new, uniform printers. One request from everyone was the ability to have multiple trays. Since our lead IT guy had never had the experience with multi tray printers I suggested Xerox. He researched and approved, and now everyone is happy.

I would never purchase this product if I knew how poor it is.
We have a small office. We do a moderate amount of scanning and printing monthly. We continually experience scanning jams in the automatic feeder. The service is just as poor. They try to tell us we need to clean the scanner rollers out daily to keep the automatic feeder operating. Our previous scanner/printer devices do not require this. We had to purchase a backup device because Xerox does not stand by their product. I would not only never purchase the B405, I would never purchase a product that is manufactured by Xerox. Look to another device or you will regret your purchase.

Meets our Needs
Meets our office needs but setup was difficult and required several calls to Xerox tech support with our IT company. Please update your printers with the new admin passwords (beginning Jan. 2020) because the one listed in our package (received 1/2020) was the 2019 password and after troubleshooting, etc. we disabled our account and required additional calls to Xerox tech support. In total, we had four calls and several emails to Xerox during a normally easy and straight-forward installation. The Xerox customer service is great, however, and the reason that we will remain a customer.

Find another printer......terrible, great when it actually prints, but unfortunately not does NOT print often
Far to difficult to set up and use......every 2nd print job bluetooth or wireless hangs and creates error. Admin account frequently locks.....Pass!!! The easiest things....bluetooth or wireless 1 page print jobs require 15 minutes to reset everything. Terrible waste of $700

This is the worst printer I have ever had and the most expensive.
I have had nothing but problems with it. I have not even started using it and for minor jobs it misfunctions constantly. For instance, today, my husband tried to print from his computer again it did not print but it printed yesterday. I could print after my husband had a problem but now, the afternoon of the same day, it says the paper tray is incorrect and I only have one tray that I have been using. I want to return it but I cannot xerox provide online help but the help really did not know why the scanner and the printer had to be connected to a driver? I have had printers for 35 years and never has one been as ridiculous to use as this one.

Bought in April of 2019 and now it's shot
We bought this printer in April of 2019. Our office went remote in March of 2020 due to the pandemic. So we got one full year out of it and then would only use it occasionally, maybe a few pages here and there a month when someone would come in. Now it's completely shot. It will not go past the blue Xerox start screen, I cannot connect to the Embedded Web Server, and when I got it into the special boot mode to do a FACTORY INIT MODE reset it won't do anything but get stuck again on the blue Xerox start screen. Don't waste your money.

This product is very fast for everything I need - for example scanning to my email is easily done in a few seconds. As well as printing also done very quickly. And there are so many options/features to choose from. A very fun product to use!

WE PURCHASED THIS FOR OUR OFFICE HOPING IT WOULD KEEP UP WITH THE DOCUMENT WE PRINT, SCAN, FAX, COPY. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT. IT WAS NOT EASY TO SET UP AND GET GOING. THE INSTRUCTION BOOKLET HAS A ONE LINE DESCRIPTION FOR EACH STEP, WHICH IS NOT CLEAR. WE ACTUALLY HAD TO HOOK UP OUR OLD H.P. TO MAINTAIN OUR OFFICE NEEDS. SO THE XEROX SAT UNABLE TO BE USED BECAUSE WE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT WORK. WE FEEL WE SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT HARDLY WORKS RIGHT, IS TOO COMPLICATED TO SET UP AND USE AND IF YOU RUN OUT OF PAPER IN THE MAIN TRAY IT KICKS UP ERRORS AND DEFAULTS TO ANOTHER SETTING THAT WE CAN'T FIGURE OUT. THEN TO FIND OUT IF WE DID NOT PURCHASE THE PROTECTION PLAN WE HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA 50$ AN HOUR TO HAVE TECH SUPPORT??? I AM SURE I WILL NOT BE PLEASED WHEN I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TONER AND INK EITHER.... HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS CHOICE.

Very hard to set up for basic functions. Does not have the functions the sales person described. Printer frequently jambs when the paper is low. Toner is very expensive.

WHEN it prints it's a fine printer. But this is the biggest piece of garbage that I have ever encountered in my 15 plus years working with office equipment. I along with others in the office have informed our boss to return it for a new machine (they're leased). DO NOT buy this printer unless you're a psycho who loves paper jams and so so print quality.

This product is great and wish we had purchase the one with color.
As a company, we make plenty of copies for our clients. The quality of the printer is excellent. We have had this printer for 3 years and only had one issue. We were able to handle this issue without a service call. Xerox did an excellent job in building this printer. Kudos!!!!!!

This product prints very well and is quick.
The only problem I have with this product is that it will not print something unless it is letter size. Each time I try to print a copy of something smaller, it will not print, so I have to place a piece of plan paper in on top of the paper I am trying to print. It does print quickly and nicely.

Great printer with many features!
I love how I can access the control panel by IP address and actually control the touchscreen or see what the user is seeing. It has a lot of great features and so far we have 5 of these on contract at our company and I am a big fan of them. The UI is far more easier to use than other brands like the Konica-Minolta's that we used to have.

Hard to set up scanner. Scanner does not keep settings
The printer has great quality of print and in fast. It also has many great features, Unfortunately, technical support is very limited and hard to get ahold of a live body. I had several issues with the scanning to my computer functions. Complicated and will dump the settings if you have a power outage. I had a bad experience with technical support. Eventually I did get some help from the last tech I talked to, and we resolved the issue, I would not recommend this product for scanning.

The VersaLink 405 delivers quality prints and scans every time fast. The really great news is that it was easy to install. We love the concierge service for supplies and service. We are very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend the printer to others for a small in home business.

This machine is perfect for my small business.
I needed a new copier, scanner, and fax machine that is more than one of the desk top 3 in 1 machines. The Versalink B405 can handle whatever I throw at it and takes up very little space. I highly recommend it.

It's only been a few weeks but so far so good! Had some spotting issues but Xerox immediately sent a new drum and we have had no other issues since and the customer service has been helpful as well

Horrible experience with this printer
I purchased this printer in April. Received the printer with no cords. After a separate purchase for a power cord the darn thing would not work. Call service, replace a p[art. Still not printing right. sent a technician, waited for another part.. still not working.. its been over 2 months and I am still not able to use this machine

Good Printer that is as good today as when new
I bought this printer in late 2017 for my one-person CPA firm. This printer has been a work horse since day one and does a great job whether printing tax returns, letter or envelopes. And it's also easy on the toner, too. I liked this printer so much that when I needed to replace my "road" printer I bought a Phaser. I buy my toner and drums through Xerox and participate in their e-Concierge program that provides extended warranty. Of course, the printers are so good that I haven't needed any service.

decided to buy another b405 when my 8700x broke. great printer. will never buy anything but xerox. Some days I print 1,000 pages. no issues. extremely rare paper jam.

Xerox service and communication is extremely poor
I'm writing about the situation where my Xerox VersaLink B405 Serial # 9HB925608 failed. I researched the various laser printers on the market for the printer capabilities within my price range. I chose what I believed to be the best choice, Xerox VersaLink B405 and it was delivered mid October.. Clearly I have made an expensive and troublesome mistake as failure occurred near the end of May and remains inoperative. I opened a service ticket #25717472 on June 4th.The Xerox representative on the phone assisted me in performing a variety of actions to verify the printer was indeed not working properly. Upon completion of these actions I was told a service technician would be dispatched. I offered to take the printer to a repair shop but was told it would be an on site service call. Very good so far but.... The service technician was very cordial, courteous and capable and I told him no big rush to return the printer to service however I never anticipated it would drag on this long. The technician has now visited 4 times over the past 76 days replacing various components in the printer. At the end of his last visit on August 11th the technician made contact with someone at Xerox and told me the printer was authorized to be replaced as it was no longer cost effective to attempt even more on site repairs. Xerox was contacted on August 17th in an unsuccessful attempt to learn when the printer replacement would be performed. I was informed by the Xerox representative that some additional information needed to be provided by the service technician so the resolution would be given a higher priority. Again Xerox did not contact me so on August 19th I called Xerox once more. Again I was told the same thing where there was some incomplete information on my service ticket that was required and the order for the replacement was not yet initiated pending some missing information. I asked why Xerox would not contact me and what I could do and was told to just keep calling until the problem is resolved. I also asked if Xerox treated all of their customers this way or was it just me and the reply was it should not happen like this. Of course I already knew that but again no resolution whatsoever except being told the service technician would be 'pinged' to contact me. So now it's about 3 months post failure and 76 days so far with the service and repair ticket in the hands of Xerox but I have absolutely zero information about when I can expect the replacement. Despite Xerox having my phone number, email address and physical mailing address I have had zero contact from Xerox this entire time, including the days since I was told the printer would be replaced. My decision and my strong advice to others is to avoid and never purchase any Xerox products.

Optional Wi-Fi Adapter
Does not come with a Wi-Fi Adapter (Wireless Connectivity Kit 497K16750), and this much needed part has been out of stock for months everywhere. The feedback I'm getting when I call shopXerox, and other vendors, is that there is no indication that this adapter will be available anytime soon.

I have owned many printers over the 26 year span of my business. This one by far is the most compact and easiest to use. I also love the dashboard computer features and just the overall ease of use. Excellent Multifunction Printer!!!

Bad Connectivity and its app does not work
Xerox B405 sometimes has print issues, (says attention required) always, and also its app does not work - it does not find the Xerox printer from the network, I can install the printer through the Windows printer setting , but I can not use its Xerox Experience app , due to not showing , so its useless printer, I would recommend HP printer

If zero stars existed, that would be my choice
We bought one of these at the recommendation of our tech guy. The first one failed within 15 minutes; stating there was no ink. We replaced the cartridge and it said the brand new 400 dollar cartridge had no ink. Nothing we did worked - we sent it back. Bought another new one from xerox - this one has had mulitple issues and now instead of sending the tech they promised, they are sending us a part. Who knows when that will come. If I win the lottery tomorrow, I will happily OfficeSpace this printer and never buy another.

Past the learning curve, felt the machine handled exceedingly well. Powered on always and ready to tackle production print after print, task after task. Am satisfied, and certainly it's a work mule that needs a nudge, you have put time into it if you really want to maximize a profit. Simply put: "Time value of money"
