Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was in two minds, how could I! Like most of us, I did the research - best long zoom for my A7iv! Obvious 2 were the 100-400 and this. Having my used a 70-200 with 2x teleconverter (which wasn’t bad at all), I decided on the reach of the 600, with some hesitation after reading how good the 100-400 was. I needn’t have worried. G lens for a reason, the lens is sharp across all the zoom range and at 600 and cropping in, I’m really pleased with the IQ. Build is amazing - if a little heavy, but you soon get into it. Feels like money well spent, so highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic for action sports I have had this lens for three years and thousands of sport frames, college and pros - the Sony 200-600 works well with all my Sony mirrorless cameras - 1/3 of a turn from 200-600 - light in weight - also shot some mountainscapes for personal files - a must lens :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellence I bought this lens so I could enter the world of bird and wildlife photography. I’ve only been out using this lens twice and I’m so impressed with it. The images I’ve taken so far are pin sharp. The lens focuses instantly and is dead silent. It’s heavy but I’m able to use handheld still.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If it were only perfect! I bought my lens in November, but couldn't find an a9II camera to buy until a month later. So it took a while for me to get to use the lens. At first I used the camera and lens hand held and was pretty happy. But when I tried to attach it to my tripod, it seemed I couldn't tighten things up enough to hold it perfectly steady. It wasn't until I got a Really Right Stuff (RRS) lens foot (LCF-102) to attach lens to the tripod that I realized it was the lens attachment apparatus' problem, not my tightening. The attachment for the the Sony foot to the lens collar didn't fit well. And it didn't fit well with the RRS foot either. We attached both my Sony foot and my RRS foot to my husband's new Sony 200-600mm lens. Each one worked perfectly. No play or wiggle. It was then that I realized this wasn't about my not being able to tighten things down enough, the problem lay with the Sony part of the lens collar that attaches to the lens foot. The Sony person I spoke to said they will send me a shipping label to send the lens to a repair facility in CT. I am not happy! These are expensive items, and now I have to go without my lens for at least two weeks and maybe longer, and see whether their "repair" (replacement of a basic part) works satisfactorily. I might add that I was looking for the emailed shipping label when I got this questionnaire. I don't understand why it has taken more than 24 hours for them to email it to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best mid range wildlife lens used on a Sony A7iv After using Nikon for 45 years but due to the lack of their mid range camera and lenses for my particular needs I switched to this Sony Body A7iv, along with their 200-600. Very pleased with the results. VR may not be on parr with the Nikon 200-500 but the tracking, ease of handling are fantastic. I have issues with my hands so can't use bodies with full built in battery grips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft Focus and Grainy High Noise Having spent 10 weeks trying every setting recommended by expert Sony users who photograph birds, I have 10,000 photos taken with this lens. Every photo has soft focus and a high level of grainy noise. And not one is of a salable standard. Considering how many pro bird photographers use this lens and have websites full of sharp images produced by this lens, I am profoundly disappointed with this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthwhile Purchase I already had a lens that covered this focal length, albeit for my Micro Four Thirds cameras. However I have a Sony A7ii now and had heard that the larger light gathering properties of a full frame sensor, should produce superior results, plus I would have an extra 4Mp to crop into. Christmas was coming, there was a £100 cash back offer and Amazon was offering a £70 gift voucher if I bought it, so I took the plunge. My photographic opportunities have been a bit lean since purchase, but I am pleased with the results so far. They are not 4 1/2 times as good as the M4/3 lens price differential, but I am satisfied with my purchase. The lens is sharp wide open at 600mm and I like the internal focusing. I do not like the strap which is too narrow and uncomfortable to use. I have made a camouflage protective cover for the camera/lens combo and I have changed the foot for one which Arca Swiss compatible and also fitted a home made handle using a flash bracket and that gives me a steadier grip and I am getting away with sharp, hand held shots, 250th second iso 2000 f6.3. in the darker winter months. This will almost certainly be my goto long lens, but I will keep the M4/3 device for travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great lens, but with a problem I bought this product about six months ago and was extremely impressed with all aspects. I particularly like the programmable buttons on the lens, which I used for the DMF function for fine tuning focus. However, over the last two weeks the lens has developed a fault, in that it will not focus at maximum ( probably between 550-600mm) zoom, and you have to reduce the zoom in order to focus, which defeats some of the lens purpose!. The camera makes a whirring sound, which suggests the focus motors are at fault. Because of Covid, I have not taken things further as yet, but am extremely dissappointed that my "go to" lens" requires some fudging before you can use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Like the Lens Bought this mainly for taking Bird In Flight photos where I could hand hold the camera & lens combo. This has worked out better than my expectations since I have a hand tremor to compensate for as well. I'm getting probably a 85-90% in focus shots. The other 10-15% is mostly the guy behind the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An outstanding lens in every way 600mm at this quality and also being a walk around lens is outstanding. I’ve owned 500f4s but they are way to heavy for every day use and I eventually sold it looking for something more portable. This is the biggest bang for buck for a birding lens, I’m not sure how Sony make it and sell it for the price it is. I’ve paired it with a mint a9 and it’s hits the mark for me. I’m a very happy Sony convert.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice lens for a knowledgeable amateur! I looked at reviews for AGES and didn’t want to spend thousands on a top of the range upper glass (yes glass) lens. The Sony 200-600 is magic for me, produces really really good images which with my Sony Alpha 7ii (yes 2) full frame can be cropped as well. I also have a Sony 24-240 zoom which is magic too and a Mindshift backpack which is perfect. I am very pleased indeed, and don’t need to use a tripod most of the time for the 200-600. The 5 axis stabilisation (in camera) plus the image stabilisation in the lens is very good indeed. OK max aperture is 5.6 but I don’t want to pay a HUGE amount for and F2.8 or even F4.0 and I certainly don’t want the weight. I can adjust ISO as required. Autofocus is very good indeed. So I am a happy bunny. I take pictures of boxing hares (and bunnies) all sorts of wildlife and birds. I have not used an adapter yet and probably will not. Well done SONY yet again! Oh and I got £100 cash back as well which paid for the backpack. Even better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best value Sony lens This lens is the best value, not only Sony, but other makes as well. My only observation is that at infinity [focus], contrast and sharpness could be better. I found that a polarising filter helps a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning Lens We bought this lens to replace a Sigma 150-600mm for use on our A7s. This really is a cut above what we had. Handles so much better and optically the results are great, noticibly better. Reinforces the reasons to buy the right lens to go with the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well on some cameras I originally bought this lens for my A7iii and I loved the results but I was looking for a little more reach so I decided to get an A7RiV to add a little more cropability. The lens does deliver some really sharp shots from time to time but I find for the most part the images are so soft. I just spent the entire morning laying on the frozen lake photographing some blue herons, closer than I have ever gotten to get, and I was so excited to get home to see the nice results as I was able to fill the entire 61 megapixel frame on the A7RiV. I know on the higher megapixel bodies you do need to crank the shutter speed up to help reduce shutter lag so I was shooting at 3200/1sec for these mostly stationary subjects because I did not want to lose these photos to motion blur, as I have in the past, but never the less almost all of my photos are soft as can be. I am not going to say my technique is perfect and that I always have the perfect settings but there is definitely an issue with the 200-600 and A7RiV pairing. There was never an issue with my A7iii, and It would just be nice if Sony would at least just admit there is an issue between these two products so people do not end up wasting money on them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a superb lens I bought this lens over a month ago I found it a superb lens for wildlife and low flying jets It is so quick to zoom from 200 to 600 and what is great is the length never moves so the weight stays the same as well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb I’ve only had this lens for a couple of weeks and only just ventured out for a morning session. Having been used to a 100-400, this 200-600 blows it away. Apart from the obvious extra reach, it’s much sharper through the range and I feel it definitely performs way better too. At the moment I’m using an A7III and thoroughly enjoyed my first experience with this awesome lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 200-600 with A7r4 is made for birders. I bought an A7r4 and this lens a month ago, waited until yesterday for the lens, as it is quite popular. and there is a waiting list. This is my first Sony full frame, and I have spent the interval learning the system and setting the camera up. (I also got a Zeiss Batis 18mm, amazing lens) First impressions: I would not classify this kit as lightweight, but it is substantially lighter than anything else similar capability. Image quality is simply awesome, in FF or crop mode. I suspect most birders will use the crop mode more than the FF mode, particularly for small and/or distant birds. The lens becomes a 300-900 in APS-C mode (Called super 35mm here). First order of business is to assign this to a custom button. Cropability of the images is also eye-popping. Resolution is reach, and this oozes resolution. Image stabilization is amazing, I can't hold this rig all that steady, and yet it is tack sharp at relatively low shutter speeds. I haven't started playing with the three modes on the lens yet. So far I am using silent shooting for everything but BIF. Works great, but there is a risk of shutter roll with the tracking focus, hence regular shuttering for BIF. I am using hi-speed shooting mode (10fps, but am thinking about slowing it down except for BIF.) Auto Focus is also highly capable. As a start, I am using DMF with center mode for perched birds, or birds in clutter (often the same). Also have a set up with C-AF and Expand Flex spot. For BIF I am using C-AF with wide focus area, so far in limited action grabs right onto the bird Rear focus button is your friend; use it, and disable the shutter release focus. I also have an Olympus ee-1 red-dot sight for BIF, where has this been all my life?? Makes tracking BIF so much easier. (Note to Sony, build something like this into the view screen, make it assignable to a custom button, or just make it standard above 200-300 mm or so.) As for the infamous menu system, it is really a reflection of the extremely customizable nature of the camera. You aren't really going to use most of it, but you need to know what it all does. It is fairly easy to assign the settings you actually need in the field to the custom buttons, dials, fn menu and the "my menu" slot in the top menu row. I also recommend backing settings up to both the in-camera card(s) and to another (old) card that you carry in your bag. And copy them to your computer as well. And as you set the camera up, keep a chart on what you did, and keep that on your phone. (Note to Sony: you should have an option in the camera to offload something like this as a PDF) (Additional note to Sony: you should provide an option to make ANY setting a favorite from the setting itself. The process of going to the "my menu" section and using an add function is not only cumbersome, but impeded by the fact that the add function uses a different numbering system than the actual menu tree). Couple of random notes about the lens: The tripod foot is not Arca-compatible, you might want to get a third-party one. Look for one that will allow it to mount to the tripod without removing any carrying strap attachment. (Note to Sony: ????!!?). I got a set of camo lens-coats, the lens is pretty white to point at birds. Also, you should buy some lens caps with built in leashes. You can attach the leash to the tag on the lens coat section that covers the hood, using a couple of small cable ties. (be sure that said tag points toward the ground with when locked into place). The leash will reach the lens with the hood in either position, and keeps the cap always at hand. Couple of random notes about the camera. The FF files are very large, a reason to use the crop mode if you are going to crop the photos at least the much anyway. I am recording compressed RAW plus JPEG, given the size of the RAW files, having the JPEGS speeds up workflow considerably. Best advice seems to be that unimpressed RAW is only better for night shooting and astrophotography. Setting can be put into one of the easy to reach places if you want to switch it, for birding it seems superfluous. High capacity UHS-2 cards are NOT an option, unless you like watching your buffer write. The ergonomics of the camera are really excellent (I am average size, wear a mens large glove). It feels great in the hand, and the buttons are well-placed and easy to ID by touch. So, basically happy with it so far, will post some more when I have used it awhile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Top Class piece of glass Very glad I bought this. For me, its main a attributes are the image quality, the fact that it does not expand when zoomed thus keeping the CG static on a gimbal head, the speed with which it locks on in AF, and the almost frictionless short movement of the zoom ring make it so much easier to zoom in on your target

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wildlife lens I have owned this lens for nearly two years. It’s a great lens for wildlife photopghry. I use it predominantly handheld and have some great results. The quarter turn zoom ring is a very handy thing to be able to pick up a subject at 200mm then zoom in to 600mm with one small twist is great. I love the fact the lens is an internal zoom, it’s very useful in hides where you are zooming in and out particularly behind glass where the traditional zoom extension would mean moving back and forwards. For me the lens does feel a little heavy if used for a long session handheld but its worth the effort for the extra reach. I do on occasions use the 1.4x extender and again have had some great results. If your looking for a versatile lens that give great results then this is a good choice .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice I bought this about a month ago and have been eager for the warmer weather to break, so that I can really get out and use it. I’ve taken some photos with it and I must say that I am pleased with its performance. The two places that I’ve recently visited are a metro park and a rodeo show. At both places, the lens did very well in my opinion. Now, the lens does have some weight to it and can become very strenuous for some after carrying it for an extended period of time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the money... A great value compared to the next closest 100-400 lens. The images came out sharp all the way up to 600mm. With a tripod bracket on the lens, it's easy to align the horizon and switch between horizontal & vertical for landscape shots. The auto focus tend to be slow and sometimes unreliable for a lens this size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed Does not appear to be a great match with my Sony A7R IV. The shutter speed needs to be 4 to 5 x 1/focal length value which means shooting in very good/bright conditions or shooting at high ISO’s

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If it was beer it would probably be Carlsberg I purchased this lens with the A9 for my first mirrorless set up. I shoot motorsport normally but with Covid restrictions chose to capture wildlife when possible. Total change from Nikon (D850, D500 and various 2.8 / f4 primes) because I dislike carrying all the weighty gear. My expectations were realistic, the lens was almost a tenth of the price of the Nikkor 600 f4 just sold but not in my wildest dreams did I expect the quality or results I am getting with the 200-600 zoom lens.Combined with the A9 it's absolutely amazing. More importantly I can hand hold this lens to track the diving falcons and birds of prey. I would not upgrade to the 400 or 600 f4 primes because the improvement is too costly and probably add the A1 camera to my stable eventually. I've been a motorsports photographer for over 50 years and been fortunate to use some excellent gear but nothing has excited my photgraphic enthusiasm like this new Sony equipment. It's fabulous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good upgrade of reach from 70-400 Was using an SLT77mkii with a 70-400 GII lens. Bought a new A7RIVA with an LEA5 adapter for my A mount lenses which worked well enough but saw a deal for the 200-600. So far so good the lens is working quite well. It is a little heavier than the 70-400 but has a strap on the lens itself to carry on the shoulder which is reasonably convenient. Not sure I want to use my Cotton Carrier harness with the camera attached to the body given the weight and potential stress on the mount but will see. I can get good shots with it hand held but still getting used to it and haven't tried out all the focus, focus tracking and stabilisation options yet. It seems quite sharp at 600mm in reasonable light. So far I'm liking the images. The removable tripod foot is a good idea. The Camera and lens sit nicely on a Gimbal Head so next effort is to use the tripod a bit more. What I really like is the internal focusing which means a fixed length and no telescoping. Have this feature on an older Sigma 100-300 f4 lens which is now out of production and glad to see Sony adopt it. The zoom extension on the 70-400 was a real pain especially without a zoom lock making it hard to use with the Cotton Carrier. Also the full zoom range is covered in a quarter turn which is great for handheld. I will attach a couple of images taken hand held at mostly 600 to give a real feel. Nothing prize winning or fancy but first attempts and unprocessed apart from fitting into Sony 5MB limit. The originals are around 30 megs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and Great Design, but Poor QC I had many telephoto lenses from Nikon and Canon, and now Sony. I just got rid of a 100-400mm in order to get this 200-600mm. This is what I was looking for so long because I take aviation pictures. I love its speed, picture quality, and mostly all, coverage. However, when I pulled it out of a box a few days ago, the lens (it was wrapped) was covered with dirt/particles and a couple of big particles were in the lens. One of particle is stuck to inside of the front of the lens and won't move. I'm extremely disappointed by Sony's quality control since the particle is very visible; Sony should review its manufacturing environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monster of a lens but does the Job This lens will put some serious weight on your camera but it does get the job done. I do not use a tripod. It would get in the way for shooting wildlife where you more often than not have to follow the action. I use it on the Sony ARIV. It is nice and sharp. My gripes are that the lens hood does not attach securely. I lost it on my second outing while hiking. Sony could provide a longer strap for the lens. Finally the supplied lens bag could be a lot better. What is important is that I have no gripes about the lens. Make sure you try this lens before purchasing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lens ever! This lens is absolutely awesome. Amazingly fast focus, crisp photos, and beautiful bokah. And, truth be told, I bought this lens a month ago after the exact same lens met with an untimely accident after 2 years. I can't live without it! I love the fact that the barrel of the lens does not move. Everything is internal which makes for a smooth transition. I shoot hand held and, yes, this is a heavy lens but nothing I can't handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it but! Very happy with the lens which I twinned with a new A7iii. Photos sharp, verry happy. Others have seen it and also considering change to Sony. Only disappointment is the fit of the lens hood. It keeps falling off. Have resorted to carrying gaffer tape to secure. Hence only four stars. It would also help to include more detailed instructions to include birds in flight tips etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a long zoom for Sony! This lens just came out, and I have just had it a few days, but I am so excited to review it! I am coming from the Sigma 150-600c with the MC-11 converter, which worked well, but was very slow to focus, and missed focus much of the time. As a wildlife shooter this meant many lost moments. I love Sony cameras, but was jealous of friends that had fast focusing lenses at over 400mm. I am using the 200-600 on my a6500, and it is night and day! The autofocus speed feels just as fast as my Sony 24-240 lens, which is to say, really fast. It is also silent, I can't believe it can move that much glass so fast without making a noise! I didn't know what to expect out of the all internal zoom, but it improves balance over the Sigma noticeably. The lens also feels lighter than the Sigma, even though it is spec'd a bit heavier. I was pleased with the Sigma's image quality, but this is another level. Sony hit it out of the park with this one! I've been wanting a Sony native extreme tele zoom for years, and couldn't be happier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fantastic lens I’ve had this for a few weeks now and am constantly being blown away by how good it is, especially considering the price. I’m not going to go into full technical details as there are people who know way more about that than me who will have posted that info already, but as someone who has been using the lens for wildlife photography, I can say it is absolutely fantastic. If you’ve not used a focal length as long as 600mm before, it can take some getting used to but I absolutely love this lens and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Requires high ISO shooting, even in good light... I appreciate many Sony's lenses, especially the GM lenses (of which I own all except the 100mm f/2.8 STF GM). I particularly love the 70-200 GM and the 100-400 GM lenses, so I was very excited to hear of the new 200-600 G lens that was getting so many positive reviews from Sony representatives... Unfortunately, my experience with the lens has been mixed. The slower aperture glass requires higher ISO shooting, so that, for example, even in full sun the A7R3 often requires ISO 1000+ when shooting wide open at 600mm at 1/500- 1/800 shutter speeds. I compared this result with my Nikon d850 using the 200-500 5.6 VR lens. I set the aperture of the Nikkor to 6.3 to match the Sony lens and set the focal length to 500mm and was able to shoot 1/500 at ISO 320 with no problems. The image stabilization of the 200-500 is actually far better than the OIS of the Sony lens, too, so I could actually bring the ISO down to 100 and handhold the lens at 1/100 (and even lower!) with no image quality loss. With the Sony lens, on the other hand, the shutter speed must be quite high to compensate for lens shake at longer focal lengths (even when using IBIS and with the lens' Optical Steady Shot set to on). The upshot here is that the Sony lens requires higher ISO shooting, resulting in noisier images that will require post-processing to clean up. It's too bad Sony didn't take a page from Nikon on this lens. I would have preferred a constant aperture f5.6 lens even at the expense of the extra 100mm on the long end instead of a lens that stops down to f6.3 at 300mm or greater... I realize there are design and engineering trade-offs, of course, and that Sony made some compromises to keep costs down. Unfortunately for me, and probably for other photographers, the slower glass combined with higher ISO requirements will present challenges in all but the most well lit situations. On the positive side, however, the lens is well balanced and when you nail focus and don't have any lens shake, the image quality is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super sharp, super lens! I switched from a Nikon D500 paired with a Sigma 150-600mm C lens to Sony A7iv and this beast. To say the difference between these 2 lenses is night and day is an understatement. It's tack sharp wide open @ 600mm which I could never have said about the Sigma. It feels better in the hand, the zoom ring goes the right way and, even better, it's only a 1/4 turn to go from 200 to 600mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Explorations! After watching many reviews on YouTube I decided to get this lens to use with my A7R IV. I saw that many shooters have issues with soft focus and motion blur in low light. I really don't shoot wildlife in low light so that's not an issue for me. I've been on many tours and a couple of safaris and they all took place in early morning light to bright sun, so I think that I'll be OK in the future. I'll have to get a monopod because the lens gets heavy after a while, but the results to me are well worth it. I love that the barrel doesn't extend and the lens is very well built. I need more practice getting used to photographing wildlife and also remembering and knowing when to use the different modes/buttons on the lens. I'M HAPPY with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Depends on which camera you are attaching it to. There seems to be a incompatibility with the A7R4 for a lot of users. I'm hoping that the next firmware Sony issues will correct this. The hit rate of good photos to bad is a 3 in 10. I understand it works best with the A9M2 for tracking. It's really not the lens, I think. I am having a problem, but that might be because I use it on my A7R4.

Then a giant spec of something appeared inside the lens on the front element. $2090 for a sealed lens that doesn’t extend and STILL gets a large piece of something inside the lens after less than a week. Very disappointed in the quality. None of my 4 other GM lenses or Zeiss lenses have anything inside and they were all used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome so glad I changed completely from another make to Sony, with the 200-600mm lens I have been able to get excellent shots from a distance, and the manual focus is out of this world. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still exploiting its capabilities This is my 1st large lens, and I am still getting used to handing this physically large item, and while the hand held shots are good, they can be a lot better. I will improve with experience of course, but my opinion is that to get the maximum results out of this lens, a sturdy tripod and mount is required to fully exploit its capabilities. (Hence 4 *)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance, build and value. I wanted a zoom lens with more reach for shooting wildlife with my A6000 than my FE 4/70-200 G OSS could achieve and stabilisation was a must, so the lens chose itself. The image quality is excellent, with few aberrations, great sharpness and contrast and a pleasing bokeh. Stabilisation is fantastic and has enabled captures at lower shutter speeds than I would have thought possible. Auto-focus speed is good on the A6000 and could be even better on more recent bodies. Depth of field is necessarily very shallow but in manual focus mode the focus ring is very responsive and linear, which is essential to achieve critical focus. With any lens of this weight, it’s not easy to shift one’s grip from the zoom to the focus ring when switching from auto-focus to manual and back. This is no lightweight but can be hand-held for a few minutes. If shooting behind glass, the rubber surround is excellent for helping to support the lens at the front and the balance is good. The quick-release tripod bracket works well and the lens handles nicely on a monopod. The slip-ring locks securely. The supplied strap attaches to very sturdy slots in the lens body, giving a lot of confidence. Build quality is very good with tight tolerances, nice finishes, pleasing weighting of the mode switches and a classy appearance. I am enjoying using this lens and have had very good results from it. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good results but can be challenging to use I have been using this lens for around a year now. It IS possible to get great results from it but it is fussy about the cameras it likes and the light levels. I bought it to team it with my A7Riv. In retropect, this was a mistake since the combination of the aperture range of the lens and the high resolution sensor creates too narrow an operating window, esp if also teamed with the x1.4TC which I have had to stop using with this lens. This lens is best paired with something like an A9ii whereas I have now purchased a 100400GM lens for my A7Riv in order to give me a wider window in terms of aperture The other challenge is that the lens is really heavy. You MUST use it with a lens brace to save stress on the mounting point and even then, the camera can complain saying that the lens is not attached properly. The lack of a lens strap attachment point does not help. My advice is to buy a replacement lens foot for it as soon as you purchase it. This will help you to carry it. The weight has also required me to change my tripod Also, if you read the forums, there are a lot of bad copies around. I have had to change two lenses already That said, I have had some great photos from this lens and the optics are good for the price point

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Initial review of 200-600 Had purchased this lens 200-600 back in Aug 2020, initial the pictures were crisp and clear until I updated the a7r4 FE to 1.2. I have to struggle more now to make sure all elements are in sync. Lighting, environmental, shutter, aperture, ISO. To be able to capture the crisp and clear pic. I have shot numerous BIF pictures an the capture rate is approx 20% overall. Static Landscapes shots are much better than flying birds. Overall I would rate this lens an 7-8 out of 10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible with the a6400 for BIF and Wildlife What a fantastic lens. I have only owned it for a couple of weeks and have already taken some of the best images I've ever captured. I moved to Sony from Canon (5Ds) and will never go back. The autofocus and image quality are both exceptional. I will be buying a Sony full frame body to accompany the excellent a6400 very soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Wildlife Zoom Finally an "affordable" option for shooting (photos) wildlife. This lens performs great in well lit environments and focus is fast and accurate. When zooming in and out, the lens feels steady since the lens extends internally. The focusing mechanisms are quiet which is a must when taking photos of easily startled wildlife. The only issues I have with the lens is the lens hood and the weight (to be fair this is a 200-600mm lens). The lens hood does not lock like the 100-400 GM. It can easily unmount when hand holding the lens. The weight will affect when shooting handheld. Although, I recommend using a monopod or tripod when shooting for long periods of time. All in all this lens is fantastic. The IQ is GM quality. This lens pairs well with the a9 or a9II. I use it for my a7RIV and it works great. I highly recommend this lens for wildlife and sports action photography. You will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens for what it is intended to do This lens works very well for what it is intended to do. We paired it with an Alpha 1. We compared the results with a Nikon PF 500 lens. The Nikon is sharper by a hair and lighter. So if you are looking for the sharpest lens, there are sharper ones. However, the flexibility of this lens is awesome. It goes smoothly from 200 to 600mm. The pictures with the lens will satisfy the user, except if you are looking for absolutely tack sharp pictures blown up large. I have not tried the 600 f4 because it is even heavier and $15000. For birds in flight paired with the Alpha 1, nothing comes close.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony hit a home run with this lens. Every since I changed over from my a-mount cameras to e-mount this is the lens that I have been waiting for. It has very fast AF and great sharpness. I am a wildlife photographer and this lens fits right in with my FE 100-400GM. I am using the 200-600G on my A9 and this is a killer combination. I will highly recommend this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp Telephoto Lens At $2200, this extremely well-made white telephoto lens is large, heavy, and hard to hold. It requires extra space in a camera bag. The zoom setting is loose and easily changed. There is no problem with autofocus using the Sony A7RM4A with the latest firmware update version 1.10 installed. It is my impression that the animal eye-focus autofocus feature of the Sony A7RM4A switched on is slightly faster and more accurate than with a comparison 150-600 telephoto. The lens is sharper on animals and distant stationary objects with greater contrast. This is one of the top telephotos I’ve used. The extremely detailed shots of a night heron are amazing. I am able to see the fine white hair on the bird's face at 600mm hand-held. The image can be enlarged 100x in Lightroom and still is tac-sharp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 200mm to 1800mm WOW!!! I bought this because the 150-600 (to 1800) was not giving proper lens or mm info with teleconverters. The other lens was sharp and auto focus was good. after watching many reviews I chose the SEL200600 over the SEL100400 mainly for its internal zoom that limits dust into the lens but also I like critter, birds and some moon photography. I have the SEL24240 (360mm APS-C) and it is super sharp with a lot of reach but there are times you need 600mm or even 1200mm and then there is that 1800 (2x plus APS-C) that when you are 200 yards away and up high but want that closeup of a White Pelican in flight or Great White Egret in mating plumage that or a Buck in velvet in the morning fog is where 1800mm comes in. And you want the correct shot info in Metadata and that is where this lens combo with 1.4X and 2X teleconverters shine. For the good stuff is the AF and IS...On July 3rd night the Buck Moon was out so I put the lens on my A7iii just regular single shot settings... it lock on AF and IS kept it solid "HandHeld" then pressed the APS-C button and again another clear clear capture at 900mm. The next night the 4th it was out and this time with 2X, a clear 1200mm then APS-C a clear sharp 1800 "Handheld" and I am almost 70 to me that is impossible and that was my first use, WORTH EVERY PENNY to me!!! Look I have been using Sony since Sept. 2014 and the one most important selling point is value per $. Sony knows it is not the pros that keep them afloat and climbing but the guy saving pennies, nickels, and dimes for a dream of good gear that will last and will break that bank open when he has it. Every camera (A7S,A7Rii,A7ii) and from my first lens E 1018 (APS-C) used on the A7S in full frame @ 12mm for Astro Milky Way had pinpoint stars and no distortion with IS/AF and screw on filters $700 now $900+ (everyone FF or APS-C wants or has) 5 years and going strong and value +++. I still have my Canon Ftb from the film days and use FD 20mm f/2 and 24mm f/1.4 on my Sony as well as 35/50/80/etc, Sony made sure there were adapters for other gear when they started to bring other over. That is how Sony Thinks, way way out there. You will pass this lens down to someone and they will also. As soon as I took those first shots I ordered a Lenscoat for it with everything else and is like a bug in a rug. The last shot is with the E 1018 @ 12mm full frame talk about great lenses and cameras bought in 2015 still strong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Bokeh Equates to GM Lens I’ve been using this lens for almost a year in various situations to know it’s strengths and weaknesses. Firstly, the reach of 600mm at this price is amazing. I also would like to commend Sony for making this lens fully compatible with both of its tele-converters. The quality of bokeh you get from this lens is very close to that of FE 600mm GM. What kind of bokeh you get is dependent on shooting situations such as distance to the subject and how far away the background is from the main subject, but when such parameters are spot-on, you get creamy bokeh. The focus-hold buttons are good to have, too, although the placement and the material of which can be improved. The AF is silent, and doesn’t cause any vibration. In terms of picture quality, it performs admirably provided you get plenty of light. You get sharp images under the sun. I use this lens exclusively for wildlife, and based in the U.K. we are not lucky with natural light all the time. Especially as the days get shorter, and the sun weaker, this lens’s small aperture becomes a problem. The camera bumps up the iso settings, and you get noisy photos. But I guess it’s a trade-off. The resolving power is another area where I felt I was let down compared to the previous zoom lens I used, Canon EF100-400mm L USM II. This Sony doesn’t resolve as much. This impression didn’t change when I tried different focal lengths. Of course, I shouldn’t be comparing a canon L lens to a Sony G lens, as they are not in the same class and the focal lengths are different but I thought I would include that just so that you know if you are considering making a similar move.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money I should start by saying I've been really happy with my 100-400mm GM. It's just that on occasion I've yearned for a little extra reach and this provides that. I especially like the internal zoom and it's short movement of the zoom ring. I'm a little disappointed in the minimum focus distance (2.4m) as it means I have to change back to the 100-400mm to photograph butterflies at a reasonable magnification. A focus recall facility such as found on Canon would be really nice but maybe I'm asking a lot of just a G lens especially since it performs more like a GM. I've yet to try it with a teleconverter but my expectation is I'm unlikely to choose that as an option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute beast of a lens Actually a correct statement as it is heavy, but can be handled without a tripod for wildlife quick shots. It is also a beast of a lens in that I have found it to be very sharp throughout the range and aperture settings. I have not had it long, but have taken quite a few shots of birds and squirrels in my backyard. They are sharp down to the small feathers or tiny hair on these animals. I have not found any noticeable distortion at the edges or chromatic issues with this lens. The zoom works smoothly, and the manual focus is of course electronic, but works perfect. I know if you have a newer camera like an a! or a9, you will be even more pleased than I am with my a7lll and a6500 cameras. I am looking forward to shooting the eclipse this April with this lens.

I bought FE200600G for 10 days now and tested it with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters. The results are still very impressive even the photo quality degrade a little bit. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Operate and Nice Reach I like this lens a lot and the optics are very good, but I don't think they're as good as the Nikon 200-500mm lens I shot with previously. The optics on both lenses are very good, but in my opinion, the Nikon 200-500 is just a little better than the Sony 200-600. Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy with my purchase of the 200-600 and would buy it all over again; just for the extra reach if offers and how much better Sony lenses and cameras work with extenders / teleconverters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In the Sony range this is a Bargain! I am an experienced wildlife photographer with many years experience. I have been using this lens for many months now and I have to say that i am very impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any wildlife photographer. Being a zoom it gives great versatility that you don't always get with a prime lens and I don't think it suffers in the image quality stakes. All that being said, if Sony produce a second version of this lens there are a couple of points that for me stop it getting five stars. Firstly there is no zoom lock. Most of the time this isn't a problem, however one of the lenses great features its silky smooth zoom action can be a problem when resting on a bean bag. You may find if you turn the camera following a subject the zoom can wind itself in and you are suddenly shooting at 300mm. The zoom moves from 200mm to 600mm in a quarter of a turn and with no zoom lock its easy to have this happen. Secondly it would have been great if this lens stayed at F5.6 all the way to 400mm instead of moving to F6.3 at 300mm. A lot of competing brands seem to switch at the 400mm point and as a wildlife photographer that extra light is valuable. Also it would be great if Sony sent me one to test when they build it. This lens would be pretty much perfect if these two points are addressed so I wouldn't let those points put you off. Its a stunner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OSS won't turn off I have not had chance to use this as it arrived with a OSS problem. When the camera is turned on the lens OSS motors are working even when the OSS switch is off. I am currently patiently waiting for a reply from the Sony Authorised dealer. This does give me a good feeling moving forward about the reliability of this product and also because I am unable to use it I can not judge its design or picture quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Focus issues I was so excited to finally receive this lens after waiting a month. Unfortunately, the lens I received hunts focus and when it does focus, as soon as I press the shutter to snap the photo, the lens loses focus and the image comes out blurry. At some focal lengths it doesn't do this but the longer lengths it does it most of the time. I found myself either having to use the focus hold button on every shot or just using manual focus. The images that are in focus are very good, but I think I got a defective lens and am returning it to the seller. Very disappointing. I researched and can't find any other related issues on the internet. All reviews rave about how fast and accurate the lens focuses. I will try again after they have been in production longer and hopefully any problems have been resolved. Love my other Sony lenses and AR7IV!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My change to Sony I bought this lens and a A7III about 6wks ago, a total change from using a Nikon D4 and 500mm F4 which I traded. The lens so far has only been used on static wildlife shots as the weather and COVID have not been kind. Fully open, the quality has been excellent even at high iso. It’s reasonably light and I like the customisable buttons to change camera settings. Love the easily adjustment of zoom using just a quarter turn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Image quality is outstanding! I am using this lens on the A6300. I don't know why I waited so long to buy it. I was content with my Sony 70-300 but just couldn't fill the frame with my subject sometimes. The 200-600 FILLS the frame. I have used it exclusively handheld and couldn't be happier with the results. Make no mistake this is a 600mm lens and feels every one of its four pounds. But after several days of practice I feel comfortable with it. Two important points: learn to use the zone focus for birds in flight and flexible spot small for stationary animals. Even with the lowly a6300 this lens just plain works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect sports lens I shoot surfing for a living so when Sony announced this I ordered one straight away. I loved the 100-400 but for surfing this lens is hard to beat. The non-extending design is a real help as I often shoot in terrible weather. AF is incredible and for stills and video this is my go to action lens. It’s also good for lifestyle, assuming you can shout directions at your subjects. Super impressed so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens I have had the 200-600 for a year now and it is a fantastic lens for wildlife as long as you keep an eye on shutter speed/iso setting. I have used it for sport and in good light it performs well. The 6.3 aperture can lead to you pushing the iso but with good holding technique you can reduce the shutter to get some great shots. I put mine on a monopod when out in woodland as it really helps with stability. It’s not the lightest and I use a wide peak design slide strap on the lens lugs and it’s fine to carry. If you want 600mm weight is just something you have to accept. It is permanently on my A9 and in the right light I use it with the 1.4 converter to get 840mm and it’s still very sharp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exemplary I bought this for wildlife photography a few months back. Online reviews were very positive and my experience with the lens has very much lived up to the reviews. If you need a very good telephoto this is an excellent choice. With a Sony A74 using the APSC mode the focal length can be increased to 900mm and you can still take raw photos. Using the zoom function on the A74 you can get up to 1200mm quality JPEGs. Excellent for wildlife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased. One of the main reason for choosing this lens over other 600mm zooms was the internal focus and zoom, which means it stays better balanced on a gimbal head at various focal lengths. As expected from Sony it is very well made and user friendly. I bought this for bird and nature photography but will also be using it for photos of the moon rising behind cityscapes from far away, making the moon appear large compared to the buildings. It is the perfect companion for my A7Riva, as when used in crop mode a reach of 900mm is achievable whilst still having 26 megapixels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a Fantastic Lens !!! I first rented this lens for a weekend. When I returned it I wanted to have a little fun so I told the guy I didn't get one good picture. He was quite surprised and said "really ??? " Then I told him I actually got a couple thousand GREAT pictures :) So I then returned the rented lens & walked out with a new one. Getting this photo of the moon was what made me decide to buy this lens And here is a cropped in pic of the head of a Sandhill Crane

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great build and features. Soft copy. I love the feel and ease of use of the 200-600, it can't be beat in that regard. Unfortunately I received a soft copy. I also own a Nikon 200-500 and my copy of the 200-600 is noticeably softer in all situations; good light, bad light, near and far. I really had high expectations for this lens. I've read about others who have received soft copies as well as many who have received exceptional copies that are sharp even with the 1.4x. Hopefully Sony gets the quality control in order, but maybe that's why it's a G and not a GM lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value Telephoto Lens w/ Outstanding Quality I have been using this lens in a wide variety of uses now for 2.5 years and have always enjoyed using this lens for a variety of reasons - not to mention I have taken many great images on this lens. Like any lens you buy, there are going to be specific things you may use this lens for; I personally use it for surf related subjects as I need the reach that my 70-200 simply can get and still need the full quality of the image however, I have used this lens in a variety of ways including surf shots, portrait shots, moon imagery, birding/animal, and landscape/sea scape. I have also used this lens to capture some really nice slow shutter speed imagery as well. This lens is not only extremely lightweight for its size, it's tack sharp. If you are looking for a fairly reasonable budget, this lens will fit that for the amount of lens you are getting. You can shoot subjects as wide as 200mm and have the reach of up to 600mm (plus the option to add either the 1.4x or the 2x teleconverter to this lens. I commonly am using mode 2 or 3 on the lens pending which subject I am shooting and what is happening with the action. In my opinion, this is by far Sony's best "bang for you buck lens" if you are in need of a telephoto lens. I would say that for the pricepoint of this lens and the ability to shoot at F5.6 to F6.3 - it's pretty sweet lens to add to my collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lens for birding and wildlife Wonderful lens, bit of a luxury owning this and the 100-400 with 1.4x TC (and if you can only afford one, get the 100-400, far more portable and shorter minium focus distance makes it infinitely more useful), but if you want a lens dedicated to wildlife then this is the lens to get. A whole stop faster than the 100-400 with 1.4 TC, and that combo will only get you to 560m. Would strongly recommend getting a dotsight (the Olympus one is perfect) if you want any chance of catching birds in flight, much easier to find them and can rely on the A7iii's AF system to get the subject in focus. Also recommend getting a neoprene cover, keeps the lens in good condition and stops it getting too cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well balanced, short throw zooming beauty! I recently switched Canon to Sony and was attracted to the 200-600 zoom that Sony offered and I primarily shoot wildlife, small birds and birds in flight. This lens compared to other brands of zooms I have owned is a superior in sharpness wide open and fast to focus and does not vary in length when zoomed. Zoom ring is a short throw design and can easily be thumb rotated. Stabilization is impressive too! All good on this one with color and sharpness and pinpoint focus accuracy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OOS doesn't work properly in video mode Hello, weeks ago I bought new sony FE 200-600mm lens but I think the OSS doesn't work properly on my sony A7R IV photo camera in video mode. If I start shaking camera on tripod OSS start working properly after 3 or 4 seconds and hold image very well but not for long time, maybay only 10 seconds. After that is image again shaky. I try everything and the problem is still here. I went to my friend and test his new lens FE 200-600mm on my A7R4 camera but the same problem even with his lens and on his camera A7R IV. In photo mode (M, S, A and P) both lenses start working immediately if I press shooting button and OSS stabilize image excellent. Only in video mode it's not working immediately. I think this is not mechanical problem but software problem, because both lenses behave the same in video mode. This problem happening to other Sony video cameras like A7S, FS7 and FX9 I tested. Big downsize for such a good lens. I had to sale my lens to photo user. I hope Sony will soon release new firmware for this lens and solved the problem. Regards, Matej

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow up review The only option Sony would give me is to send the lens in for repair. I also found a second particle on the inside body of then lens. Barely a week old when the issue happened and just over 2 weeks since I got it. This is not how you handle customer service. Furthermore I will not send this lens in repair because the facility they want me to use severely damaged a 24-70 F2.8 GM lens of mine a few months ago. I love every other product including this lens until all these particles started showing up inside the lens. I will be returning this lens today and waiting who knows how long to find another when they become available. Big let down Sony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointing ! After 7 months (used only in weekends) the lens started making a buzzing noise in both automatic and manual mode; the camera’s trigger button is not pressed (A7III). It makes also a 2-3 seconds grinding sound before powering down. Left between 400-600mm, the lens does not focus when the camera is turned back on. And to makes things worse there is also dust inside the lens. It’s still during the warranty period but it will take 2 months to fix it; unfortunately this summer I will not be able to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens for the price I got this mainly as a walk around lens , the weight and physical size isn't a problem for me . The lens is sharp in the centre , pretty good image stabilisation for low shutter speeds and focus speed is decent for a lens in this range. This is my second copy of the lens, my first one isn't as sharp as this one wide open so there seems to be variation in these lenses . Overall I'm happy with it, I wish Sony would release a G master version of the 200-600 with improved optics , OSS ,dual focusing motors and manual focus override switch would be useful

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this lens on my A7RIIIA Used the lens for wildlife and Astro photography and although it’s early days I am very pleased with the sharpness and quality of the build. The lens feels solid, as is the tripod mount bracket and rotates easily to re-orientate the camera. Zooming and focus rings feel very smooth. Autofocus is fast and silent, shake movement eliminator works very well and I could not see any difference in still images with and without it selected, a must for video. The only negative with the lens is the weight, it is to heavy for hand held shots, I use a star adventurer mount for Astro photos and haven’t had any problems with the weight causing tracking problems. Check out the photos attached. The one standout positive I was very impressed in the sharpness of a f6.3 image looks just as sharp as a f16 which makes this an amazing lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens, disappointing though with A7R4 camera We bought this lens for photographing birds in our garden, and, when allowed, out and about. We are wedding photographers (normally) and have both A73 and A7R4 cameras. It works great on the A73, see attached photo. However, the focusing in AFC mode on the A7R4 is a little hit and miss. This is diappointing, due to the obvious cropping benefits of the larger 61MB sensor. Having looked on line, this seems to be a common complaint, is there a likely resolution from Sony?

It's that good one of my shots of a Red Kite with a medical mask caught in it's legs appeared in the Saturday Telegraph (1/3rd page spread). I can carry it with the A9 + battery grip all day long as its not that heavy- I'm 72!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for birding Brought to replace my other lens as I needed more reach and its a great lens . I live in the uk so only downfall is in the bad winter light its not the best. Still OK though. It is slightly weighty so I brought a proper sling strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to handle Bought this two weeks ago and took it for a day walking around a zoo yesterday. Hand held it and got great results. Easy to hold and move the zoom ring in flight whilst subjects moved closer or further. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens and fantastic value. I have had the 200-600 since they first became available in the UK. I needed to downsize from my Canon system (1Dx and 500f4) mainly for international's travel, but was bit concerned that the quality would not be there. No noticeable drop in quality at all! Plus the versatility of the zoom range. I love this lens. I also have the 100-400 and again, it is hard to see the difference in quality in real life situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remarkably good lens. Sony sent me several lenses to test, along with the A7RIII and A9 bodies. The 200-600 was/is the make-or-break lens in my decision to switch from Canon to Sony (which I am doing based on these tests). I currently shoot the Canon 5Dsr and 5DmkIV, and my go-to long lens is the 500 f4 L v1. So the bar was set pretty high for the Sony 200-600. It cleared it nicely. Throughout its zoom range, the 200-600 is critically sharp, even wide open, delivering images that scream, "Great glass!" at 1:1 on my monitor. Some of that may be due to the excellent sensor in the A7RIII, but that doesn't matter to me because I use a system, not single components. The internal zooming is extremely smooth and makes for a consistently well-balanced kit. The AF and IS are both great, yielding fast, accurate focusing and steady, shake-free images. And, it's light, about 5lbs lighter than my Canon 500mm. This means I'll carry the Sony to more, and more remote, places where I'll get that 600mm reach. This is the lens I've been dreaming about for years, and Sony has really delivered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lens! Shockingly Good! I went back and forth about buying this lens- I already I own the 100-400GM, 70-200GM as well as the 1.4X and 2X teleconverters. However, on a recent trip to Sri Lanka it quickly became my go to lens for wildlife and birding. Even with the 1.4X converter under heavy canopy it still performed incredibly well. While the speed of the 600mm F4 GM would have been nice, flexibility as animals moved closer would have been comprised. I found the build quality to be great and the lens itself light compared to other lenses I've owned. Bokeh is great! Autofocus with the A7Riv was unbelivelably fast and devivered razor sharp images- even shooting handlheld at 600mm!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beware if you are pairing with Ar7IV There is an issue I and many others are having only when using this lens with the Ar7iv. Firmware update has not addressed soft focus and sharpness on stationary objects. Appears to work fine for many however there is an issue not is not being caused by the settings.

I couldn't be happier and i'm getting some excellent results!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed Does not appear to be a great match with my Sony A7R IV. The shutter speed needs to be 4 to 5 x 1/focal length value which means shooting in very good/bright conditions or shooting at high ISO’s

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens Just bought this lens, taken a few photos, what an excellent lens, to be able to go from 200 to 600 with a small twist of the zoom ring is remarkable, to photograph birds in flight is So easy and the lens is so sharp. I would say as regards value for money this is the best Lens I have ever bought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch lens I have tried long zoom lenses from Canon and Sigma. This lens beats both hands down. The only things I would change are definite stops for near and infinity focus and proper 'grab and go' manual override for autofocus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Zoom for a Fair Price! I've been shooting with this lens for about a week; everything from birds on wing to landscapes AND love it. Lens (with Sony A7 III) has amazing autofocus. Half rotation zoom from 200-600 is very fast. Great stabilization even at 600mm which makes is quite easily handheld throughout its zoom range. Lens is very solidly built but as a result is about five lbs; for long duration shooting I'd recommend a tripod or, at the very least, a monopod. The sharpest lens I've ever owned when compared to my previous Canon & Pentax lenses and current Sony lenses. Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Changed camera systems due to this lens it's fanta I have only had this lens for a couple of weeks but since attaching it to my also new Sony A7iv it hasn't come off. I have had so many sharp keeper images from this lens and camera combination. Focus is quick, images are sharp and it's half the weight of my previous camera and lens combination. I love this lens so much I have now moved over to owning just a Sony system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent build quality I bought this lens because I heard that it was good build quality and excellent for wildlife photography. I have changed my whole system to Sony after being a Nikon photographer for 35 years. I believe you are more advanced in you Mirrorless system and the sharpness of your lenses is excellent. I am waiting for the 600mm to arrive in the next week or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value. Only had this a few weeks. Description clearly gives the weight but carrying it about really brings home what I’ve taken on. Rested it in bird hides and can just about manage hand-held. Balances OK on a tripod (must take the load: camera plus this closing in on 3 Kg). Much easier on a gimbal. Bought a cheaper one with no fancy stuff and it’s fine. I’ve still much to learn. I have the camera on auto everything thus far. Got some spoonbills (the knowledgeable ones told me). Missed a bittern! Come back to me in a few months when I can hopefully supply a better critique.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens so far, BUY IT! I brought it end of May, took a month to deliver but was well worth the wait. I have used it a few times and I'm very impressed. Make sure you have a tripod that can handle the weight. Photo examples are taken on the a7 mark one. I would love the a7iii or the a7riii but can't afford them yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Reach, Excellent Value The FE 200-600 5.6 on an A7iii brilliant tracks and captures images, enabling me to take fast-moving action shots during outdoor sporting events. This is not an indoor action lense as the widest it opens is 5.6. I have a 2x Sony converter for moon-gazing, which brings this to an astonishing 1200mm capacity.
