Works Just as advertised
This device function just as advertised for me. It was recognized by my dell instantly and all ports worked as expected. It does not support multiple monitors as stated in a previous review but is not advertised to do so either. Dell has other Dock available for this purpose if that is what you are looking for. There newest even supports 3 monitors.

Only supports single external display
Has ports for both HDMI and VGA, so we assumed dual-monitor support. Given that we're using this with a Latitude 7370, which has zero usable ports on it, we thought this adapter would work for a dual monitor docking station. Apparently not.

Missing Display Port
Just got the new XPS 15 which is great. Very excited about USB-C 3.1. Got this adapter which I am returning because it replicates VGA and HDMI but the computer already has HDMI.
Really looking for a replicator dock like this that I can stash in my bag that has DVI, VGA, and Mini Display Port. A real bonus would be an ethernet port and a USB-C input/output for charging!
Looking all over for such a cable but having a real hard time finding anything.

Plugged it in to my Dell XPS 9350 and it works perfectly. Very compact as well, considering all the features it includes. Only downside is the price tag it comes with, I wouldn't have purchased it without the rewards I had from my laptop purchase.

Yes, it really does break that fast
As almost every other review has stated, this connector broke within about 5 weeks of me getting it. Thankfully my company purchased it and not myself. We have decided to switch to docking stations instead of this horribly designed dongle. Please save your money and get something else.. anything. Also worth saying that if you have a normal sized VGA cable, say like the one that CAME with your Dell monitor, the HDMI port will be blocked and unusable

Works perfect. Not sure why others have issues.
Despite what other reviews have said, I had NO problems with this device. I plugged it in and it worked immediately. I do keep pride in staying up to date on ALL drivers, Windows Updates, and the latest Windows OS. My good experience may have something to do with having Dell Update installed and keeping firmwares, BIOS, drivers, etc... at the most current versions.

Not universal
Works OK with my system since I have a USB-C port. The previous version of this device looked identical but was the older USB type A which is MUCH more common and works equally well. I wish I would have bought the older one. It works with everyone else's machine which is useful in a pinch for coworkers.

Mechanically sound - need software
I wanted the ports for my XPS13. Since this is a model Dell sells with Linux, I expected there would be a driver for Linux. No driver currently listed on their web page. Customer service can't put me on a list to find it if/when a driver becomes available. Win10 is supposed to work out-of-the-box. You can download drivers for Win7, Win8. No Linux listed.
It's a mechanically sound little dongle. Just need software to see if it works.

Read description closely!
Wasn't paying close enough attention and bought this to connect my new laptop to 2 external monitors at the same time. Discovered this won't do that. It's VGA OR HDMI, not both at the same time. If you only want to connect to one of those from one of the newer laptops without specific video connections, this is a good option.

Doesn't work with Inspiron 17 7000 Series laptop.
Purchased this over 2 months ago along with my laptop and other accessories. It didn't work right out of the box-my Inspiron 17 7000 Series 1778 never detected it. It took 2 months to get a refund. Dell sent me another one a month and a half later (tech support verified that there was a problem with the adapter and went to their manufacturer.) The second one Dell sent me didn't work either. I finally was able to send both back to Dell (at Dell's expense) and was given a credit to my credit card.
I do not recommend this adapter for anyone. There appears to be too many compatibility issues with various Dell laptops.
FYI I purchased a Startech USB-C ethernet and USB-A adapter and it has worked flawlessly.

Max resolution 2Mpix on XPS 9350
The Dell U2717 has a 2560 x 1440 QHD display. The output options for the display driver only lists 2048x1080 as the highest output. Makes for a blurry output. A generic 3rd party USB-C - HDMI cable from StarTech worked without a hitch.
The network and USB worked fine.

DO NOT BUY
I bought this product and soon after I bought it the USB 3.0 completely stopped working. Then a little while later the entire adapter stopped working. The adapter sat on my desk the entire time and was not subject to twisting or bending yet it still failed. I contacted Dell and because it is outside the warranty they will not replace or refund. You are wasting money buying this adapter, it will fail on you. Terrible design.

Adapter causes wireless to drop - no fix with driver updates
This adapter is flawed. We use this with XPS 13 (9350) laptops that are running Windows 10, we have nearly constant issues with the wireless performance whenever this adapter is connected. When the issues arise, we have found that as soon as the adapter is removed, the wireless works again. Basically, with the adapter plugged in, the laptop will see all available wireless networks, and if we attempt to connect to it Windows will say that it failed to connect (even when it shows full signal strength). As soon as the adapter is disconnected, the wireless automatically connects without issue. We have updated to the latest drivers for the adapter, but inevitability this issue will arise. It is especially problematic when the user takes their laptop elsewhere and then comes back and attaches the adapter - even if it had been working before, the issue will arise at this point.
Dell sent us 3 of these free after we talked to customer support and explained our issues. All of those adapters had the same issues as well.
This is extremely frustrating when combined with the fact that the XPS 13 (9350) laptop dropped a USB port in favor of a USB-C port - if the adapter doesn't work, you're basically down to one working USB port and no mini-display port which is extremely frustration. We need to find another adapter that can do what this one promised to do.

I use it roughly once per week for an hour or two. After around 1-2 years (not sure exactly) the USB-A port quit working. One star as this is the second Dell adaptor (the other was a different model) where a USB port quit or never worked. I'm glad their computer work better than their adaptors.

Fantastic Portable and Convenient Output Adapter
I got this about a week ago and it has become the favored portable device to go anywhere with us. This allows us to bring just a laptop anywhere we go and watch a movie anywhere. This adapter can transfer slideshows, video, and sound all from one device that features an HDMI, VGA, USB C, a 3.0 USB or regular USB slot, and an Ethernet slot. You can transfer internet to another device with this Ethernet plugin. It comes with user friendly instructions on how to install the driver into the device so that it works properly. For such a small product it performs a lot of magic for electronic lovers. I definitely recommend this Dell Adapter to anyone that wants a high quality adapter for their multiple devices instead of multiple lengthy cords and heavier less portable options to perform the same jobs. I love how lightweight, yet efficient this adapter is and I am very pleased with its performance, quality, and best of all its value. There were no malfunctions and it’s output quality was fantastic. I definitely plan on getting a second to just leave at home and leave this as the to go adapter.

It worked for awhile - now, it's spotty
I've had this for a year now using it with my XPS 13 (2017). It worked perfectly for a couple months. Now, every time I touch it, the monitors disconnect. You can't use 3 ports (ie HDMI, ethernet, USB) at a time - the max I have gotten to work is 2 ports. Sometimes, you have to unplug the HDMI 4-5 times until it recognizes the monitor. If that doesn't work, reconnect the USB-C cable a couple times. Only once have I had to restart everything for the the adapter to work. I have a Dell laptop, Dell monitor (U2417H) and Dell adapter...I thought everything would work properly..

This USB Type C adapter is unpredictable. Worked a couple of times then stopped working since.
This USB Type C adapter from Dell is flawed and unpredictable in its performance. Worked a couple of times then stopped working. After numerous attempts to update drivers and workarounds, the adapter still failed to successfully connect the HDMI cable to the large screen. In fact, none of the ports on the Dell DA200 port was working. Other Type C adapters still worked perfectly so I concluded that there was a serious compatibility issue with this Dell Adapter with the USB C port on my Dell XPS 13. It would be nice if Dell Support pages had a clear list of steps to trouble shoot this issue - otherwise my Dell DA200 adapter is one expensive piece of plastic.

Useful
I bought this adapter for my XPS 13 Convertible which is a bit short on ports. If you use one (micro USB port for power and the other for a wireless mouse, you are clean out of ports. I had expected that this adapter would sport at least two or three mini USBs. It only has one. On the other hand, it does allow simultaneously hooking a second screen. And it is shorter than the USB micro-to-mini adapter that comes with the laptop, which means it is less in the way of the mouse. So, I am glad I have it, but still need my separate multi-USB hub adapter.

Poor construction and unreliable
I've had this for about a month - it was meant to enable me to connect my laptop to two monitors (one with D-Sub and the other with HDMI connectivity.
The first problem is that you can't plug in an HDMI and D-SUB cable in because the ports are too close to each other and the D-SUB plug will obstruct the HDMI and vice versa. So, I had to plug the D-SUB into the adapter and the HDMI into the laptop itself. This worked fine for a few weeks. However, recently the adapter just doesn't work - my Dell laptop registers that I've plugged it in but it just won't project on to the display that's connected via D-SUB through the adapter. I'm now back to plugging in HDMI, and D-SUB directly into the laptop to be able to use two monitors without the need for this accessory.
Waste of money and not an essential buy if you have a laptop with sufficient ports anyway.

Works as an adapter, but not great for all situations.
If you have a Latitude 7389 and one of the power ports become defective you can either use this adapter, or charge your device.
The issue with the USB-C to HDMI/VGA is that your docking stations WD15 is not compatible with a 3rd monitor. But the USB version of this would allow the 3rd monitor. By going to USB-C there is not a port on the WD15 docking stations forcing the user to plug in their docking station & additionally plug in the adapter.

Works great
I actually needed one of these for work. Our tablets only have one usb port and no video out. Tested it out and it worked perfectly for what I need. The is being 3.0 is nice for the read and write speed. I didn't have to download any drivers, I am on Windows 10 though.

Not great
Can’t plug in serial cable and HDMI at the same time — won’t fit next to each other. Also can plug in mini USB charger cord with this device at the same time. Limited usefulness.

Dell
This was exactly what we were looking for with all the new TVs, gaming systems & stereos that are coming out this thing was awesome especially when you wanted to try and hook everything up without getting adapters for each chord.

pathetic product
We purchased 5 Dell Latitude 7370 laptops, with DA-200 adapters for wired network access and external video. The point where the flexible ribbon cable connects to the body of the adapter has to be one of the worst design flaws in the history of Dell.
We have warranty-replaced all 5 DA-200 adapters at least 2x each in the last year. We are not looking at a different laptop docking station all together, at 4x the cost.

Good while it worked
It worked great for six months and all of a sudden stopped working. We keep drivers and updates current for our systems and all software, but that didn’t help. It’s a shame to spring extra cash to get a legitimate accessory that works for a shorter amount of time than I’d expect a knock-off to work.

Works, but ...
Did not realize that it needed 2" cord to XPS laptop. Sound quality from speakers plugged into headset jack is poor, way to much bass boost. Need to explore docking options.

Good Idea. Terrible design and reliability
I have used this product for 4 months now. Not guaranteed to work every time you plug it in. Intermittent connection to Ethernet. The quality of video is very poor. Blurry no matter what resolution or display you use it with.
USB 3.0 and Ethernet port has stopped working after 4 months. Good people at Dell don't even know to replace the unit. After 7 calls in 3 days and total of 101 minutes on the phone with Dell I gave up.
Please do not waste your money on this device.

Won't fit VGA and HDMI at the same time?
The VGA and HDMI ports are on the same side and close to each other. It won't fit VGA and HDMI at the same time for dual monitors. (Yes, you can use the HDMI on the computer. But it is easier if you only need to plug in the USB-c cable every time you connect the monitors. The other side has plenty of extra room even when both Ethernet and USB 3.0 are used. I don't know if there's any engineering-related reason to have the VGA and HDMI on the same side. If not, it is just bad product design.

Unreliable overpriced product
I bought this brand new from an official Dell dealer, and since day one the HDMI connection tends to cause flickering on every monitor I have used (home and work). The monitor goes blank and states there is no connection. I have since bought a USB-C to HDMI port without any of these issues, meaning that there is a reliability issue for sure with this product, and based on all these reviews we all can't be wrong. Do yourself a favour and do not buy this unreliable overpriced product, and spend your hard earned elsewhere!

Works For Me
Purchased this 6 months ago and it has worked just fine. It's compact and easy to pack. I am careful when I use it that it is supported on something. I can imagine if the USB-C cable was put under to much strain that it may cause connection problems. But for me it has worked great and having all the connections in a single adapter is a bonus.

Stopped working after only a handful of uses.
After using this product about 6-10 times within a year, during which it was mostly stored in a drawer, it completely stopped working. I contacted tech support, and after two hours of troubleshooting, I was advised that the device was dead and that since it was just out of warranty (by a few weeks) that I would need to purchase another. When it was working, it worked fine and was rather easy to use. However, its design made it awkward to use with a XPS 12 as it dangled from the side due to the short "stubby" connection wire. Likewise awkward when attempting to use it on a XPS 15, but not as much but it took hours with tech support just to get the XPS 15 to recognize the device. It may be a convenient tight packaging of the several connections but I would much rather spend half as much to buy each of the components separately elsewhere, which is exactly what I wound up doing.

Perfect all in one
Hooked this up to my laptop and my desktop and it helps me connect the devices I need in one central device. Very useful tool to have. The only downfall is the VGA and HDMI ports are on the same side and close to each other so it is nearly impossible to use both of those at the same time.

Small footprint
This is a great device that will have your desktop looking neat and orderly in a snap. There is nothing more aggravating than have your area a big mess. This is very easy to use and install. I was surprised how little space it used up so you will not have to worry about losing space. The installation is a snap and is easy to use. I am not disappointed at all and just wished I had it sooner. I always use Dell products because I am always happy with performance of the products they make and this is also a great device to use.
