Reliable Batter backup with long run time
This is an excellent option for extending run time in a power failure. These units are very reliable and you have the option of extending the warranty for 5 years.

This is one of APC's smallest, fully modular UPSes. That can be a big deal in the event of a power module fault, or suspected problem. The ability to simply slide each module out of the frame and replace it with a new one is a HUGE time saver. They're even hot-swappable, too! The only reason I didn't give this UPS 5 stars is that the mechanical clearance / fit of the modules can be a bit tight, on some units. Particularly the bottom slots. Great unit!

Parts fail too often, no repair/exchange program
We have quite a few of these and have had batteries and power modules fail at a rate that is too high. The warranty period is short and APC does not offer repair/replace. You have to just buy new units.
In fact, we are seeing higher failure rates of the 1500 series desktop UPS, too.
Wondering if the quality control at APC is less than acceptable.
