Set up was terribly annoying.
The printer is nice but the set up took all day to figure out. On my other printers all I had to do was enter my wifi network password. On this printer I had to do it differently and it was a pain. I like how quiet the printer is and think that it is good. But I had to remove a star because of the tedious set up process.

Unimpressed
Pro: prints larger sized sheets, photos look good on photo paper, prints fast
Con: I had a hard time connecting wifi. I still haven’t been able to. I had to move the printer out of my office and plug it into the modem. The printer has no screen so you can only manage certain settings. I bought this printer for printable htv projects. I thought the color would come through better but it doesn’t and cricut app doesn’t enable you to change print settings; so I get what I get. My hp is better because I can change settings when I load each sheet of paper on its touchscreen. This printer had great reviews but I’m unimpressed.

Solid LARGE FORMAT Printer
I have "worn out" a couple of these already, doing lots and lots of printing....LOTS. I make Christmas cards and do some large sized theater prop printing. It is very versatile, makes accurate reproductions of what appears on my computer screen, has lots of features. and is easy to use. It takes up to 12" wide paper, and I have printed sheets almost two feet long. I purchased this one as a backup printer, in case I wear another one out.

Terrible for Wireless
I bought this about a year ago. It took forever to get it set up on the wireless - there is no screen or way to input on the printer. And every time the wireless goes out or I reconfigure the system I have to reset it up. It's impossible - takes hours every time. User manuals are unclear, links in troubleshooting put you in loops. I needed a printer that prints on thicker paper like tag board, which this does, but everything about setup makes me regret this purchase.

This printer does the job and easy to use. One “problem” is it reads png transparent backgrounds and will print them. So you will need to download project as a jpg to print without blacking out png backgrounds.

Bad Printer
Do not buy this printer. This is the fourth cannon ink jet printer that I have owned in the last 10 years. The Printer will not connect to WIFI. It connected once after hours of trying. Now after a password change it will not connect. There is no screen on this printer and the interface with a PC does not work correctly. It is poorly engineered and is defective. This printer is not as good as previous models that I have purchased. Bad Printer!

Great no-smear large format prints
I love my PIXMA ix6820! This is my 2nd one. Unfortunately, the first one only lasted 3 1/2 years; however, I liked it enough to buy another one. I only use semi-gloss photo paper, so gloss paper may get different results, BUT … the inks are phenomenal. If you get a water spot or two on a photo, you can blot the water and let the photo dry; the inks do not run or smear. I love being able to use 13” x 19” real photo paper and print photos larger than 8” x 10” that are great for framing. … I read through the reviews out of curiosity and want to make a few additional comments. I have photoshop, so I rarely use Canon’s software to print my photos. This has numerous benefits. I can create custom print sizes. I can make almost any lighting or color adjustment to my photos. And best of all, I can resample my photos and double the number of pixels while keeping the size of the photo the same. This is useful for older digital photos with fewer ppi so you can still get a good quality print.

replaced exhausted Cannon printer
My purchase of a new Canon ix6820 printer was needed - my existing unit simply "gave up the ghost". Served well for years, but not even a Canon lasts forever.
The new order was handled expeditiously, arrived quicker then expected and all worked well when installed.
Thanks Canon - - now can you arrange for this new one to "last forever" ?

Not Happy!!!
On this model, and all other new models, they have removed the "effects" panel in the properties section of the printer that allowed you to choose different effects for your photo. There you could select "vivid" print. Now, that option is not longer available. My prints are much less vivid and bright. I have bought at least 50 canon printers for my small business and loved them. Now, I am going to look elsewhere.

Nice printer
I had to replace an all-in-one printer that I loved (4 1/2 years old when it died), so purchased this one. (I needed a rear paper load for use of heavy-duty paper for one of my home projects.) My new i6820 fits the bill, but is a bit noisier than my former one. I loved the ability to easily connect to my wireless network and just start printing.

Poor Communications Software with iX 6820 Printer
The printer is fine until there is a fault. At that point there is not software to clear to print job file, display the fault, or clear the error. Subsequently you are trapped in a software loop that does not provide access to resolve the issue. I tried customer support... non existent. The website referenced in the provided software doesn't event recognize the iXseries printers. Easier to get another printer.

Was great til Apple upgraded the High Sierra OS
Bought the IX6820 end of April 2017 as I needed to do posters and 11/17 size work. easy set up, wireless worked great. Running High Sierra OS 10.13. No problems. beautiful prints, quick, fast, loved it. Been Canon printer user for over 15 yrs. Customer service always great. Apple upgraded OS to 10.13.1, still no problem. Upgraded network provider with better faster speeds, new apple router, netgear modem, all worked great. Apple come out with OS 10.13.2. Printer had issues. Pretty comfortable with computers, networks, printers, etc. deleted printer, problem started. Laptop with the upgraded OS would recognize the disk. desktop wouldn't recognize the disk. Downloaded upgraded drivers from Canon. Wouldn't recognize the network. Now have printer that won't connect to network so can't use it. Fry's Electronics here in Arizona had the printer on at a good price. It's less than a year old. Just now reading this printer model is a few yrs old. checked at time of purchase - said it was MAC OS X compatable. Don't know whether to complain to Canon or Apple or both. $200 printer that I can't use. Would love to use it again if I can get updated drivers for the 10.13.2 version of High Sierra.

Good printer BUT...
This does an admirable job printing photos but the lack of an 11x14 option is absurd for a printer sold in the United States. I understand that size is unique to the States but it has been a standard photo size for decades. Again, the lack of this option is ABSURD.

Somewhat disappointed
My PIXMA iP7220 died after two years of exemplary service. When I called Canon I was referred to sales where I was asked how I used my printer. I indicated that I print text, some duplex, as well as photos. I was told that the iP7220 was no longer available and was steered to the PIXMA iX6820. While the iX6820 works fine for text and photos, I am disappointed that it does NOT do AUTOMATIC duplex as the old iP7220 did. Also troubling is that I have found the iP7220 is still available at Walmart and other retailers.

Excellent Price Performance
After 15 years of use and 2 'waste pad' replacements my expensive XXXX printer reached end of service. On an impulse I ordered this iX6820 Canon to test as a replacement. Of course technology has improved in that timeframe, but I didn't expect higher quality prints from a reasonably priced machine than I received from the pro grade machine. The majority of prints are large format for exhibition or framing. It handles inkjet photo papers including canvas without problems. The only negative is the online manuals and.formatting software as my graphics machine is a dedicated offline box. Luckily the 20+ years accumulation of programs on that computer fully supports this printer.

SLIGHTLY QUIETER THAN MANUAL TYPEWRITER
I have owned 20 or so (in my office) printers. This one is the noisiest and hardest to set-up of all those printers. Could not get it to work "wireless", even with the router 3' away.
When I ask it to print, it makes a lot of noise re-setting itself. The print quality does not match the WEB page or photo I asked it to print.
To say the least, I am very disappointed.

Replacing my printer
I had a Pixma iP 6600 series in the past that I was not able to use with my upgrade to Yosemite on my Mac. I purchased this new printer through the Canon loyalty program. I was not able to view the actual machine that I was purchasing but it was the best fit for my needs and the price was good. I have not printed pictures with it yet, so I can not give any feedback on that yet. However, this printer is much larger than my previous one and barely fits in the space that I have for it, it also did not come with any type of user manual and the set up directions were very poor. I finally had to have a friend that knows more than I do come over and set up the wireless connecton for me. I wish that Canon would have supported my previous printer with upgraded drivers for my operating system as that printer is perfectly good and I was happy with it.

DESKTOP 11x17
I bought this printer to print large format architectural plans at reduced 11X17 format for my office use. I use it all day switching between 8-1/2x11 & 11x17, and am pleased with the detail of the reduced sized prints, very readable. I have not had any trouble with the wireless app on my iphone. I have printed very few photos, so I won't speak to that, but yes, it is an ink hog. Aren't they all?

Easy wired network install
I spent very little time installing the 6820. I had a 6520 that I bought last year that suddenly failed; support is non-existent for that model. So, I used the loyalty program to buy the 6820 for less than the competition; i.e., the total cost (printer, shipping).
I have only printed a few pages and I find the colors to be quite rich. The ink tanks are much larger than on the 6520 (I'll have to see what the refilling costs are).
So, bottom-line ... a good printer that does not use a lot of room.

iX6820 printer review
Have this printer for over two years and very seldom ever print anything. It seems to suck the ink out of the cartridges and it goes somewhere. Canon has sent me replacement ink the first time I complained after having it for less than a year. Since then same thing happened about the ink going somewhere, since I do not print much. It does print good but I am dissatisfied with the ink usage. I would not buy it again and would more research on printers and their ink usage.

Black ink floods and warps paper in 9 months!
Purchased Jan 2019. Brilliant for 9 months. Used for at-home photographs, family, etc. Early Nov 2019 a photo on Canon's Pro Luster showed heavy, wet black ink. Bleagh. Then I tried same image on plain paper and the black warped the paper! Still works for documents, but not for photos - which was my primary goal. No support because I've owned it longer than 30 days. Sad because the photographs were beautiful. Perfect skin tones.

Reliable, solid printer that doesn't jam. If someone has had any weirdness with it, it must be a lemon. Works well out of the box. We have used over 20 of these at our studio. The better the paper, the better the result with any inkjet. We do not use laser printers due to the particulate matter inhalation concerns

Worse Than I Expected For Doing Prints
I bought this printer in May 2019 from an online store .. Was super excited to receive it to use for an event printer .. From day one it has been nothing but frustration ... mainly, the most inconsistent printer I have ever owned .. It regularly prints one photo just fine and the next photo will be full of streaks and the next photo after that will have colors missing and it might print another photo just perfect .. I have wasted more photo paper than the printer costed me .. I am writing this review now because I stopped using it for nearly a year and just resumed trying to use it again and its still doing the exact same thing .. this printer has been a total waste of money and time .. I have changed all the ink cartridges numerous times and cleaned the heads multiple times with the same results .. I would never recommend this printer to anyone for any reason

Good printer, one weak point
The Achilles heel of this printer, as with all separate-cartridge printers, is the printhead. That can go bad without warning, and if it does, you need a new printer (not cost-effective to replace the printhead. But while it works, it does a beautiful job. (Does not include a scanner - people needing scan capability should look at all-in-ones.)

Good printer
I wanted a printer that could go to 11x17, had individual ink cartridges, and could connect via ethernet to my network. I purchased this in the fall of 2014 and used it semi-consistently until the B200 error popped up in early spring 2021. I figure six and a half years of infrequent use is sufficient for technology today. At a certain point I switched from official Canon ink over to EZ Ink. Quality of prints held up but the printer would complain from time to time about not detecting an ink cart. I wonder if this printer would have lasted longer if I stuck with the more expensive Canon ink.
As for the B200 error, it happened once before about a year ago but opening/shutting the lid after rebooting it while the print head/ink carts were moving from the park position to the middle position seemed to have fixed it for a while. I tried cleaning out the printer head to no avail. Replacement print heads aren't really worth it.
Overall I don't regret the purchase in the slightest and I purchased a replacement from Canon, here's hoping to another 6.5 years!

Unreliable and eats ink tanks like potato chips
Not a very reliable or durable printer. When it is able to operate, it sucks up the ink from the tanks like a thirsty hippo. Only buy the XL tanks otherwise you will be running to the store after just a few print jobs. And don't expect it to last very long- this is a disposable printer. After the warranty is up, fully expect it to last one more year and that is it. BTW- after that first year, Canon won't talk to you about fixing it or anything unless you buy the service agreement. Now that mine is broken (again, I plan to replace it with a different brand.

Faint, white line showed up 1" before final 13x19 photo print
I have a faint, white line about 1" from ending, and sometimes at the beginning, of my photo print on 13x19, Canon Photo Plus, Semi-gloss paper. I am using all Canon ink. Changed all cartridges($$ also to see if that would remedy the situation. I performed all the cleaning tests, alignments and even reduced my tiff photos to jpg. I was hopeful that my most recent print would turn out fine, but nope! Before this recent problem, I had printed a full bleed, 13x19 long expo night photo in the desert, plus several other 13x19 landscape/ nature photos and they all turned out awesome!
I waited 35 minutes and got in touch with Customer Support rep. We went over my problems with the printer. I did everything correct, including updating the driver, etc., and he made sure to troubleshoot everything that may be wrong and he couldn't find the answer. "It is an internal problem with the iX6820", he said. Because I was over my 1 year warranty(printer purchased 08/2019, less than 2 years old!), the only option was an upgrade to a new, more expensive Canon printer at a reduced price. Not in my budget right now during the Pandemic.
That being said, it is a 2 star rating only because I can still print any size, but not 13x19, the reason why I purchased the iX6820. I print my own photographs. This is my 2nd Canon printer specifically for the 13x19 printing, but I think I am done now. I had a Pixma iX6520 for almost 6 years before it went, 'belly up.'

Better than I expected
The main purpose for choosing the PIXMA iX6820 is for printing 13X19 size CAD drawings and this printer does not disappoint. I have also run some color photo prints on glossy paper through the printer, and it lends itself admirably to that task. The clarity and quality of color reproduction produced by this printer is superb. It's a great product!

great printer
I love my new Pixma printer. It was much easier to set up than my first Pixma. Being able to print on different size paper and thickness is important to me.

Sadly Disappointed
I was really excited to receive this printer to use for printing stickers for my business, but was disappointed when 80% of the images I printed came out with defects. There were issues with all my images that were brown, green, blue, purple or darker in shade. I would never recommend this printer to anyone. If you are expecting to print something in high quality, you should bite the bullet and invest more money in a more expensive printer.

Just What We Needed!
We wanted a high-performance, high-quality, color printer that had none of the all-in-one add-ons. The iX6820 was a perfect fit, and its ability to print on large formats is an added bonus!

Great All-Around Printer!
I have had this Canon Pixma ix6820 printer for over 6 years now with no issues at all. This printer will print everything from clear text documents and large spreadsheets to beautiful photos and cards. This printer is also fast and quiet. It does not excel in any one area. It does everything well. I have used OEM Canon ink, EZ ink and Arthur ink in this printer with no issues at all. This printer will connect to a computer via USB cable, WiFi, Ethernet and Apple Airprint. It is very easy to setup in all aspects. No, this printer DOES NOT scan, so before you give it an unjustified bad review because of this fact, please learn to read the printer's specifications before purchasing. It only takes 2 minutes. Overall, I would highly recommend this printer. You will not find a better all-around printer out there in this price range.

Canon isn't owning or resolving PGBLK printing bluring text
As this is a WIDE spread problem and Canon is NOT releasing a resolution for the issue! 1,000's of owners of the Pixma printers (wide range of models), are experiencing the large black cartridge printing blurred/shifted/smudged text. Maybe reports need to be filed to the Consumer Protection Agencies regarding Canon's refusal to address their poor quality products consumers are paying for but are faulty, indeed. Canon needs to be held accountable. I know for sure, Canon has lost me as a customer due to their lack of actually caring about their products and caring more about taking advantage of consumers. I won't be taken advantage of and I encourage others to file consumer complaints as well. There are laws in place to hold big corporations accountable.

Decent Budget Printer
Great printer, definitely not wireless though. Not once has the wireless connection worked, even after trying literally every possible option offered by the setup and various troubleshooters. Used it a ton, with a cord...

Hard to set up wireless connection, doesn't even come with a cord!
The printer just won't connect with my computer wirelessly, kept saying "can't detect printer", so I had to buy a cord to use it, the thing is, it doesn't even come with a cord!!! That seems like the least they can do. Incredibly disappointed how hard it is to set up. Please, in the future, at least give people a cord just in case the wireless doesn't work out!!!

Pixma iX6820
Four stars because I haven’t used it much yet. I bought it for the larger size capabilities and it had good reviews as a craft printer. This is my first Canon printer. I have always had Epsons, but have had issues with them when printing on card stock. So far this Canon pixma printer is doing everything I want it to do.

Owned this for about a year before it stopped printing and just flashes its lights. Read the troubleshooting guide and it is not helpful with my issue at all. Fresh ink installed, and still will not print.

PIXMA iX6820 Printer
I bought the PII bought the PIXMA iX6820 printer a few months ago for my edible desserts and I regret it. It printed the first five sheets great but then any prints that have black come out in a dark blue. I replaced the black ink cartridge and the cartridge holder hoping that would fix but it's still the same thing. Wish I had my old MG6620, way better then this printer.

It Won’t Print
I have had this printer less than a year. I use it twice successfully, but now it will no longer print. It says there is a paper jam, but there is no jam. I have spent hours trying to get thing to work. Don’t waste your money on it.

Crisp photo quality
I’m an artist and I print and sell my own prints- the photo quality of this printer is excellent. I strongly disagree with many of these reviews. If you are having issues with print quality consider upgrading the paper. This thing is STURDY I mean I accidentally fed my printer like 20 paper clips by accident once and she’s still going strong. The only issue I’ve had with wireless printing was that occasionally the printer reads as busy when it’s not. When that happens I just switch devices and it usually works just fine. I’ve had this issue with other printers in the past so it’s whatever. It doesn’t do double sided printing (you gotta flip the paper manually) so I more so recommend it for photo printing rather than for office work and stuff like that.

Solid, reliable printer
Our office has used these Canon Pixma ix6820 models for several years. We do hundreds of color prints per week for various projects and pitches. This model performs way better than the newer models. Sometimes they are hard to connect to WIFI, so we just wire them. But the WIFI will work eventually.

Paper jam sensor broken…WI-FI option bad
Had this printer for maybe 3 years. Produced beautiful prints, wonderful sticker art, prints cardstock just fine. But the Wi-Fi option is the worse. Couldn’t get it to stay connected to any computer. I had it working 1 time but then it just stopped. Tried alllllll the steps, called customer service and I gave up. Now the paper jam sensor is broken. I keep getting 3 orange flashing lights which means there’s a paper jam. But there is no paper jammed. There is no way to manually reset the printer without clearing that jam. There’s not even computer options to clear it. I called tech support and it was a wash. They just suggested unplugging it for 10 minutes and then powering on. It did nothing. I guess I’ll need a new expensive printer. Never buying this line again.

Seem ok. But setup is really bad.
Wow was this a pain to set up. Don't bother to set up without a USB cable. You can configure for wireless using the USB to set up. Requires a password which is your serial number on the back of the printer. Also, I needed to set up manually to allow for the SSID password. You can also connect using network cable instead of wireless. The setup software looks like it was developed in the 80s. Terrible software for setting up. Will update with print related issues.
