Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft Images I bought this lens, used it for one weekend and returned it. Maybe I just got a bad lens(which should NOT happen on a price tag of $2300) But ALL the images with this lens were soft and needed to be sharpened with software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite lens! Gorgeous sharp lens - perfect for the dance floor! Some distortion at edges when wide open, which is to be expected, but amazing at 35mm as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crisp, fast and clear.. So far so good.. I went to LAX to try it out, first thing that stood out, it is a fast lens. The lens doesn't "breathe" like my RF 70-200mm; it just finds/locates the airplane and locks in very quick. When I say very quick it's less than 1 sec. By the time you focus and lock it, you can let the camera fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RF 15-35mm F2.8 IS Lens Great lens and super sharp. Show minimal distortion in shooting interior shots. I have not seen any vignetting compared to 16-35mm II. It has great color, contrast and clarity. Very happy with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good design with manufacturing issues I hate to write a poor review of this lens because it is obviously a first-rate design with benchmark performance. However, I must say that of the four samples I have purchased, none were keepers because of what appears to be misaligned lens elements. Parts of the image are significantly blurry at certain focal lengths while most of the image is sharp. I saw this on all of the samples I've tried. Two were ordered direct from Canon, one from Amazon and one from B&H. All were returned. These are the only Canon lenses I have ever returned. I am not alone. Others have experienced the same issues with this lens. I suspect it is a very difficult design to manufacture perfectly. Where it is sharp it is very sharp and contrasty. Slightly better than my old EF 16-35mm f/4L. But the older lens has none of the problems I'm seeing with the new lens. Other than the alignment issue the main concern with the RF lens is the extreme vignetting at the widest aperture, which may be a concern in certain applications such as astrophotography. Here the lens also exhibits some coma in the corners and along the edges but it's not too bad. My Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 is better in this regard at half the price but is a beast compared to the Canon. The Canon is better in the daylight. I do mostly landscapes and nightscapes professionally with the Canon R5 and Ra cameras so maybe I'm more demanding of the equipment but I have never had these issues with any other Canon lenses. Hopefully this is useful information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastically sharp images I use this lens on a R5 camera and the images are tack sharp. When enlarging an image the reflections of a persons eyes are awesome! I've taken photos of people at significant distance and still have a excellent photo when enlarged. My nature photos with the lens have turned out impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SOFT FOCUS I sent back the lens because of its soft focus. I sent also some samples to Canon, but they weren't able to tell if the lens was defective or not. I am quite disappointed since most reviews describe it as a sharp lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Fantastic I really don't like writing reviews because most of the time its a personal perspective. But this lens is utterly out of this world. I had the EF version and there is no comparison. I don't know why some say you don't need f 2.8. But while taking photos with this lens I was surprised at how many of my photos were shot a f 2.8. Sharpness is out of this world. Bokeh is incredible for such a wide angle. I was on the fence about purchasing the 14-35 f 4 L. Look if you can afford it buy it. If you like the best buy it. If you want absolutely the best photos to remember, buy it. This is one of my best purchases and I am so glad I bought it. This is why I only write reviews when I have something to say. And this time Canon did a wonderful job.
