The Comtrol DeviceMaster RTS 32-Port Rackmout RJ45 is a 32-port device server designed for network-enabling serial communications devices. When used with the included NS-Link™ driver software and a host PC, the DeviceMaster RTS enables placement of COM or TTY ports anywhere on an Ethernet network or across the Internet. In applications where connecting legacy serial devices to a PC without software changes is a requirement, a pair of DeviceMaster RTS units can be used to create a point-to-point serial tunnel across the network that seamlessly transfers serial data via TCP or UDP socket connections.

Reasonably-priced with good support, but it's not stable or flexible and needs a lot of improvement
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use cases are manufacturing and accounts.
We do not like this product, which is why we're changing to another one.
What needs improvement?
We're definitely looking at a new system because everything in this product needs improving.
It needs to be integrated between manufacturing and accounts.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Sage for three and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This is not a stable product. It's creaking.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This solution is not flexible.
We have fewer than ten users.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is very good.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is reasonable. I would say it's fair.
What other advice do I have?
My advice is that Sage is fine for a very small business but I wouldn't recommend it.
I would rate this solution a five out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

The product is easy to use and provides consistent updates and upgrades
What is our primary use case?
We use the solution in a government agency for accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset management, inventory control, and procurement.
What is most valuable?
The ease of use is valuable. The product provides consistent updates and upgrades.
What needs improvement?
The vendor stopped supporting the solution on the Linux platform. We can only use it on Windows. It is very bad. I don't know why they discontinued support for Linux. Now we are supposed to use Microsoft SQL Server, which I don’t like very much. We are left with no options. The vendor must give users the option to use what they are comfortable with.
Most of the functionalities are not available on the browser. We have to install the desktop client. It would be very good if the vendor could make all the functionalities available on the web browser version. We would not have to go around installing workstations. We could just provision it from the browser.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution since 2006.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten. The existing functionalities are good, but the tool is missing some functionalities. So, we have to do customizations. We feel that the other functionalities must be available out of the box.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
There is no problem in adding new users. We can request for additional users at an extra cost. The solution is used by accountants. We have twenty licenses, but we do not expect a lot of the users to use the system at the same time.
We also have over 50 people who use the product for store management. They provide services for the requisitioning and sale of items in stores. Our IT department is very small. We support the core activities. We don't do much development.
How are customer service and support?
Currently, we have very good partners. We rely on them. They contact Sage and get the solutions for our problems. We have never dealt directly with Sage’s support team.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not complex. Apart from a few customizations, we need to create a chart of accounts and a few other things. It is pretty straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
Some things can be done in-house, but we also work with the vendor’s partners.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay an annual license fee.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten.
